I need a good custom overclock rom for my SGM 2.3.6 gingerbread. But one that would not change any of the phones features but the speed. So the phone would look and operate as it does now but I would be able to manage speet with SetCPU. Is there such a thing?

Yes they will keep the phone at its current version. Its just the kernel that will be changed to allow overclocking.
Will this hard reset my phone when I flash it (as in losing all the data on the phone)?
I'm using the Unofficial CyanogenMod 7.2.0 rom in my galaxy mini.
It's better than use the SGM official rom, it support u overclock.

Yes it is true...but we dont have a kernel to OC ATM, So stay calm and Save battery

What firmware you at ? If you at 2.17 and you don't use wif then flash vengeance 1.36 (do not flash modules) or thunderzap via fastboot and overclock
But if you on 2.17 and you use wifi then I don't recommend to flash any of above kernel's as wifi won't work.

Just reading the Xperia J development forum and see that Sony are rolling out firmware version .33. I'm running Vengence 1.40 kernel on my J at the moment and I'm just wondering if it is going to be possible to upgrade to the new firmware on the kernel I have?

So there is no way of doing it while keeping the OC feature from 1.40? I think I'll stick with the firmware I have if that's the case. I'm not sacrificing 300mhz for a firmware update I probably wont even notice once installed

1.Are there any major differences between 8226 and 8926 except the LTE in the latter one?
2.Is this kernel compatible with both stock and aosp roms? Can it boot the stock rom at the current stage or is it WIP?

kernel is a base for developers and can be used on any custom rom
both 8926 and 8226 are suported

Guys, somebody even tried M2 custom kernel on M2 Aqua (which has the same CPU as ours). Now this person has root. The main problem is that this person did it on unlocked bootloader.
This person unlocked bootloader via FlashTool, flashed this custom KitKat kernel made for M2 (boot.img с CWM 6.0.4.6 unRIC( FULL ROOT) для D2303 .37), then flashed a *.zip update with supersu in it via CWM and got root.
I have no idea if what I wrote will help you. I just did in hope it would. And attached the kernel in hope it would either.

There is no aosp build for d2202. You still have to wait a bit.
This thread is only meant for the sources. No download link. You have to compile the sources to get the kernel.
And this kernel will not work on stock rom(firmware).

1. Use xperfirm in flashtool apps. to download sony xperia xz firmware you want it. https://xperifirm.com/download/xperifirm-v5-4-0/
2. Flash the firmware you download by flashtool apps. here is one of the youtube tutorial.
