We already had a thread about this same topic, lol. I thought it was out, but it's not. You should have named it "Lollipop Update News" or something like that.

You will still have a long while to wait on AT&T...but maybe ports of the international version will come.
They'll only be flashable on the people with unlocked bootloaders though, right? I mean, unless Surge and the others successfully execute Kexec we won't be able to boot up the ports with Safestrap. I think that I'm wrong though.

Not really, it's for the S4's with the Chinese version of the s4's processor, it won't work on ours.

It's only February. Early 2015 could mean March or it could mean May.
And that's if it is released on time.
Early 2015 means January ... May is already middle of Q2 . i9506 (snapdragon 800 version) and i9500 (exynos) already have lollipop.

Indian update is the same firmware , i think the difference is only in modem. You can install any of them on an i9500.
It's nice to see that today i9505 recieved the Lollipop update in Germany. AT&T probably will seed the update in a few days.

Someone is overly optimistic about AT&T's timeframe. AT&T tends to be dead last in releasing new software among major US carriers.
I'd honestly be surprised if we get it by May.

That's exaggerated ... i think the worst case is march. Last time we received 4.4.4 faster than any S5. The i9505 already has it .. it means that at&t only has to install all the crapware above it and end of story.

With new firmware, beweent change log number and build date, which one is more acxurate to indicate that is a newer firmware? Thanks
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 2
Not sure why everyone talks about build date.
The changelog is going to be your one guarantee that a firmware is in anyway different or identical to the one you already have
Quite often build dates might be different because of scheduling of the coding etc

Thanks for this. As a new comer to the Android world and having just got my S4, I note this is the firmware on my phone (online import to Australia). However, could you confirm for me:
this is a link to the Stock ROM should I need to return the original OS,
that despite this, I can still follow published methods for rooting my phone (eg "Root the Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean using Motochopper tool",
there is no problem with me moving to a British based Custom ROM such as described here "Update Galaxy S4 I9505 to official XXUAMDM Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Firmware", and finally
Does the region software is designed for (eg Hong Kong vs Europe) have an impact on the phone's functionality and hardware abilities?
Many thanks

Really don't understand why they keep uploading them on hotfile, when there are far better alternatives.. or why not they could even make a torrent for the most desired builds.
Anyway.. thanks!

Hey
Great. This is only a few hours old. I've been working in my garden. But why 4.4.2?
I crack myself up. They should have released 4.4.3. Never mind, now I just need a dump and some updated sources.
About your problem; this is Samsung in a nutshell, but I'll do my best to release a 4.4.2 kernel and system as soon as I can. Hopefully I'll be able to make it compatible with 4.2.2 and 4.3 bootloaders.
Stay tuned.

EDIT
According to SamMobile, Samsung has ignored our device. True, but why?
Ok, this is my personal opinion. The GT-I9506 is outstanding, making it a direct threat to the Galaxy S5. As you know, the S5 features a Snapdragon S801...just an overclocked S800. No magic in that. I can do the same, well to be honest...I already did for my own phone. It's a piece of cake to overclock. But the fact is, do we need it? For myself; nice to have but not need to have.
I'm pretty sure that we can do the same as the S5, and even more. But with the new S805, we WILL loose, no doubt about that.
Stay tuned guys, the game is about to begin.
Regards.

Should be very likely.
There were ports of ICS and Kitkat for my old LG P350 device. Why wouldn't there be ports for M. The S4 should run it just fine.
I would be satisfied if s4 gets all L updates cause android M wont be released almost 100% for s4...or maxbe samsung has some other thoughts [emoji14]
After I saw that Google released the source code, just do not know if it is 100% platform ....It would be nice at least be able to use part of the optimization of ART and battery (doze project). I'm using the GearCM (optimized version of CyanogenMod) for i9500 ... is that changing the manifest can do a partial port?
I might try build it, see what the crack is.

He is talking about official manufacturer release.
Generally, after 18 months the manufacturer drops update development for a phone. It's been 2 years since the S4 released. Samsung already has 2 devices on which they have to work + their next flag ship.
I doubt they are going to spend more time on our 2 year old device.
We will surely get AOSP versions of M but official samsung version might be unlikely.

I'm pretty sure there won't be any official Touchwiz M for the S4 and considering the fact that 5.1 isn't even out for the google play edition S4... i'm pretty sure the GPE model will not see M either.
Yeah probably s4 stops at L,s5 will probably get M too.
Android 'Biggest update ever' failed badly, now Google should get serious about the quality of updates.
we need the Camera API 2.0 by Samsung, so we will use a perfect version of the next cm13 rom!!! i really hate the bad quality of camera apps in CM 12.1 !!!!!!
Since I rooted my A9 (but made a system backup) I have no idea if a new update is out for European 2GB ram models, so I dunno if I restore the stock system and recovery to update.
Is the update still 6.0 or we finally got he 6.0.1?
It looks like the new US update made the camera even better
No 6.0.1 on my European model.... HTC is doing well in the US but maybe a bit too slow in Europe.
Yeah it's weird, it looks like HTC sold much more A9 in the US than Europe perhaps, or they are putting all their efforts on the M10, either way they lack software programmers employees as they can't work on 2 phones at the same time. I have nothing to complain with my A9 but if there are some new customization option and better camera algorithm...
HTC priority has always been the US compared to Europe.. That's why they sell developers versions of their handsets in the US only..

HTC should, at least, push updates for security patch.
I want the camera update
I have to RAW edit all my photos on PC because HTC uses a too high jpeg compression (or NR) loosing details, perhaps the 6.0.1 update has a better jpeg treatment

What???
The M10 is coming in April even May!
The thing is that US models got the 6.0.1 for weeks now so they just have to adapt it for European models, ce n'est pas sorcier

Yep but if the new camera improvements are nice and it can give xposed compatibility, why not?
As well as compatibility with the incoming custom Rom, as a tester I could flash it but because of FW differences (6.0 vs 6.0.1) it won't work.
6.0.1 update is now available for me
