[Completed] [Q] I need help with my nubia z5s - XDA Assist

Basically, my friend bought a nubia z5s, and asked me to root it and flash a custom rom onto it that has the google apps on it.
I managed to root it and for some reason i factory reset the phone and now the phone just stays on the nubia screen, i can get to CWM but due to the phone having only an internal storage it cant mount the sd card. ADB is very confusing and im not sure if usb debugging is actually enabled
Could anyone help, this is my first time and im actually pretty scared :/
Thanks

Well there's not a lot for this device out here.
I was able to find a rom thread for that device here
as for adb, it's actually not very difficult. Check out this thread for introduction to it.
Good luck

Another problem D:
i managed to figure out ADB, but when the sideloader finishes, on the phone it says:"
e: Error in /tmp/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted"
Any ideas as to what could cause this?
Just tried again and it says
E: Can't open /tmp/update.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted

Status 7 means an error in the updater-script due to device assert lines. Which means that the script is not recognizing your device as being compatible with the zip file and it aborts the process to avoid damaging your device. I do not recommend tinkering with the script to trick it into working.
You will need to ask for further assistance in the the link I sent you. Someone there should be able to help you. Xda assist is for showing you the way. We do not offer full support for problems.
Alternatively you can try to install the rom i linked you for your device. Just be sure to read the entire first post and follow the instructions.
Good luck

My Dev Phone is dead

I am a complete newbie. I tried to update to the ADP1.1, but it error'd out on the boot image. The phone now shows a triangle with and exclamation point and a graphic of a phone. I got advice on another community to try and install update.zip from the sd card. I downloaded the original ADP1 update.zip, and I tried to install. Here is what I got:
Installing from sdcard
finding update package
opening update package
verifying update package
installing update
copying files
copying files
formatting BOOT
writing BOOT
E:No space left on device
E:Error writing BOOT
E:Failure at line 8
write_raw_image PACKAGE:boot.img
BOOT
Installation aborted
Thoughts on where to go from here?
No thoughts? Is it now a paperweight?
Please post information regarding your device (brand, model, carrier, OS, etc, etc) That way, we might be able to help you.
I have the Android Dev Phone
Carrier: AT&T
It had the original version ADP1
Tried to update to ADP1.1, but it error'd on the Boot.img portion
Let me know if you need more information.
Thanks.
Mark.

You probably needed to wipe it before flashing it. For the fix, listen to the experts. [here]
I am more than happy to listen to the experts. Any of them have an idea of what to do next?
Any thoughts?
Bricked Phones
Yeah, I do actually. I noticed a thread with the same topic somewhere else and its active. Check this thread out. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475244. Leme know if it does not help. Mail me direct if you wish.

I am not sure this helps. The problem I am having is that once I start the update it stall out when trying to write the boot portion saying the phone is out of space. I have wiped the data/cache, but to no avail. Has anyone seen this before?
Mark. I am not ignoring you, I just don't have net access where I live, so unless I get out and come to my favorite parking lot, I can not email. No I have never heard of it either. Some one here should be able to help. I am NOT an expert, but if you want to hear my only idea here it is. Go way back and start by flashing the old rc29 bios on the phone. Then follow the directions to give yourself root access (i know you do not need to do this with a Developer phone), then flash the Jesus Freke's Android developer bios 1.0 then the 1.1. Try and contact Jesus Freke directly. I wish I could help more, but I am really new at this, and with out having your phone to play with, I doubt I could come up with a fix for you.
Is there anyone that can help with this?
Here is the error message I am getting when I try and install the update.zip from the sd card
E:No space left on device
E:Error writing BOOT
E:Failure at line 8
write_raw_image PACKAGE:boot.img
BOOT
Installation aborted
I have wiped the data, but to no avail. I would really like to get this resolved so I can go back to using my phone. If not, I am more than happy to sell this at a good discount.

[Q] [Help please] assert failed!

Hi all,
Sorry if this has been posted before, I have had a look but cant find the solution!
I have a HTC Desire HD that I have rooted using the AAHK, this has worked fine.
Next, I have searched around for a rom to use and found the Cibernodo Mod2Bravo V7.1 (English version) . . . I have put the zip file on to my SD card . . . restarted in recovery mode, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe Dalvik cache, wipe battery stats, install zip from SD card, chosen the Cibernodo file and gone through the installation process . . . .
I have done all of this several times, and downloaded the zip again but I constantly get the same results:
Mounting and formatted partitions
Mounting /data
Mounting /sd-ext
Formatting /system
Mounting /system
Intalling System & Data partitions
Installing Gingerbread Keyboard
Installing Zeam Launcher
Installing ES File Manager
Installing CM/GB player
Installing 3DGallery
Removing Apps NOT selected
Installing Cibernodo Bootanimation
Configuring installed files
Setting permissions of /data
Configuring System Files
assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img","boot")
Yes, I am a noob, and no, I dont know much about this but I have followed everything to the letter as far as I can see ... is there something glaringly obvious that I am doing wrong?
To top it off, each time I complete this process a message pops up telling me:
Congratulations...
Cibernodo Mod2Bravo has been installed correctly on your phone
Click Finish, and restart your phone.
Thanks
Installation State: 1792
So is the 'assert failed' the issue here, and if so, how do I fix it?
Sorry to go into so much detail but I just want to see where I have gone wrong ... many thanks in advance!
[EDIT]
when my phone reboots it goes back to where I started from, i.e. the downgraded version of android from after rooting . . .
I will also try downloading and installing a previous version, V6.1z ...
Same issue with that version, so Im pulling hair out lol!
This has now gone from bad to worse ... I ran the aahk again as super user and busy box disappeared, thinking I would start from fresh again . . . there was a pause in the process and now my phone is stuck on the white HTC screen . . . anyone able to shed any light on this at all?
I've managed to speak to someone and apparenly I am not bricked and can run a ruu ... when I re-run the aahk it wont start as the error message comes up ... the phone is plugged in, the drivers are installed but I am guessing the USB debugging has been disabled . . . so does anyone know how to enable this from the aahk main screen with regards to the fact I can't boot into android?
Looks like there are lots of reasons for this... and it's a can of worms. Also, the Desire HD is one handset that my network has never sold direct, so I have seen one in eighteen months. I'm less familiar with it than I'd like... Just checking the thread and you're using the Desire HD, yes?
This thread degenerated a little and I think you've tried the chatroom too, but there are some useful pointers here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646178
And also here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1645285
Good luck. Keep us posted.
Thank you for that, I have got to the point where I don't know what to look for anymore lol! I will have a read through those ...

[Q] did i killed my galaxy s4? :(

So i Tried to turn my galaxy s4 to a Google edition phone because i heard it removes the the small lags the device has, but in the process of changing the OS i think i deleted the Factory installed files on the device and did not install the google OS.
so now my phone only shows the Samsung logo when i turn it on, nothing else.
can anyone please help me? or is this a lost cause?
here is what i did
-first i rooted my phone using odin, which i have don a bunch of times, that wasn't the problem, after rooting i installed TWRP on my device and copied the 4.3 google play ROM into my device.
-secondly i rebooted the device, (as the guide said) opened TWRP and did as the guide told me (Wipe –> Advanced Wipe and select “Dalvik Cache”, “System”, and “Cache”. Then move the slider to complete the wipe.) (refer to picture for more detail)
***** this is where i think i ****ed up******
-Now the guide asks me to install the new ROM and do a factory reset + a reboot.
However my phone froze for some reason and i couldn't install the ROM then it rebooted automatically.
now i cant get passed the company's logo and if i do go into TWRP and try doing any of the previous stuff it keeps writing these lines:
checking for MD5 file...
skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found.
updating partition details...
E: Unable to mount '/system'
E:Unable to mount '/efs'
E:Unable to mount '/preload'
and when ever i try to reset or reboot, it says the device has no OS .
is it over for my phone? i really would appreciate it if someone could tell me Anything on how to fix this problem.
p.s.
i have been searching the web for the past 2 days, spending hours trying to find an answer or a case similar to mine, so far i haven't found anything.

basically your phone needs to be flashed back with its original ROM, so you need to first identify your exact version of S4 that you have to locate its original ROM, you should look here and post there in the Q&A section, when you need help about Galaxy S4, based on your version, you must clearly inform your version for other members to help you.
Don't worry you should be able to recover your phone by flashing the correct ROM, just READ carefully and follow instructions found in the galaxy S4 forum. in XDA

[Completed] Failed to install cyanogen cm-11-2014*-icong.zip . Busted my Phone.. Help Urgent!

Hi, I read lots of posts here in xda on how to install custom ROM on my HTC Salsa, lot of times i felt bad as the posts always required my phone to be S-OFF. I couldn't find a nice and easy solution for this.
However somewhere i read that it is not mandatory to have S-OFF and which is when i just started experimenting on my phone.
I did unlock the bootloader from HTC dev . But i still have S-on.
I downloaded some *i9500 custom ROM and copied it to my downloads folder in sdcard. Tried to install the zip from sdcard from my CWM Recovery and it failed always. But then i thought that it could be the problem with image which i downloaded as it is not supported. So then i found one more post for HTC Salsa and downloaded the image from the link given in there.
Here is the link of that post : http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2745185
Here is the link from where i downloaded the zip : http://download.androidarmv6.org/_builds/icong/
Here is the image which i downladed : cm-11-20140719-NIGHTLY-icong.zip
After getting into CWM Recovery i tried to install the same and at first it looked that it is going to install but in some time i get some error like
set_metadata_recursive.... error STATUS 7. INSTALLATION ABORTED.
Then i thought i was doing to wrong and as per some post .. i formatted all the /boot /system /sdcard ....partitions listed in CWM.
Now my sdcard is completely formatted .
After i copy my image there and try to install the same :
I get :
--Installing: /sdcard/cm-11-20140719-NIGHTLY-icong.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
E: Error in .sdcard/cm-11-20140719-NIGHTLY-icong.zip
(Status 0)
Installation aborted.
I can't even reboot to my old ROM. .. Not sure if its lost completely. .. Need help urgently.
Please help me recover or reinstall any ROM just for my phone to come back to life again.
You have posted the issue in the right forum in your initial post. That is the right place for your concern. Please be patient and wait for one of the experts to respond.

[Completed] How to reset my HTC One Max

I am a total newbie to Android modifications, and tried to find a way of specifying custom notifications on my HTC One Max. I have later found the application Ringdroid that fixes everything that I needed, but before I did that, I believed that I had to root the phone to achieve this. So, I read a lot of stuff, downloaded a lot of files, messed with adb, clockworkmod, rumrunner etc. without really knowing what I was doing, and in the end gave up, since it didn't look like I managed to root the phone properly after all. But, anyway, I understood that something had changed, since a couple of applications were missing. Anyway, the phone has worked fine since then, until recently, when I got a notice that software update 4.13.401.7, containing Android 5.0 Lollipop, and various other stuff, was ready for installation. So, I downloaded the update, and told it to install. The phone reboots, and then I get the following message:
CWM-based Recovery v6.0.5.1
E: Invalid command argument
E: Invalid command argument

Rebooting...
Is there a way of letting me a) reset my phone to the default settings, letting me do this upgrade? or b), do this upgrade without resetting it?
