I just got it tonight, it just said system update for clock, I did it but didn't notice anything? Anyone else get it? If so, what was that all about?

yeah yeah !! its nothing... just an update for your clock application...
you dont see any changes externally.. its an update for your internal bugs which you cannot see or feel..

This thread its headed to make clear all the possible causes of flash memory corruption in our nexus 5, maybe some people have knowledge beyond ours, and can help us identify the problem. eMMC revision date, build date could be useful.
And, as the old galaxy s3 with it's sudden death issue (eMMC death), we can have a count on the cases here in XDA forums.
P.D: weather a thread was created before, please a mod could link it to mine.

anyway , so far we dont have a clear cause. Lots of noobs with toolkits , 1 or 2 stock , some heavy rom users . All ages , all batches , all kernels and roms.

There are way too many possible causes for NAND failure. There is no point trying to determine a specific cause as it could be one of many things, and a different cause for different people. The same thread was created a week or two ago.
It could happen while copying a file. It could happen when you turn the screen on. It could happen overnight.

So anyone it's exposed to NAND failure?
I mean.. Is google aware of this? I bet build date is tight related to this problem, maybe its some revision so far.
I tried the app i used to use to check eMMC in Gs3's i9300, search for it in google playstore as "check eMMC brickbug", it will show you if there's something wrong in your nand and tell you revision as well. I know its not for nexus 5, but even recognized the codename 'hammerhead'.

If it happens then it happens. Nothing much you can do to prevent it, nothing much you can do to have it happen on purpose.

Sorry for the offtopic but, do you recommend staying on kk with locked bootloader or jumping to 5.0.2 totally custom?

Again, if it happens then it happens. There is no prevention nor specific cause.
And it's up to you, use and do whatever you want, it's your device, not mine.

Could it be the digitizer? Did it fall or get wet at any stage.
It's driving me mad. Anyone know what it is or how to identify it? It doesn't seem to be associated with any other events. I don't see anything new pop into the notification area or anything

I had these when i was using some rom. Dont remember the name but it was a bug where notification intent is broadcast. Random ting ting. Clean flash or change rom

Thanks. Speaking of which, is there another ROM available for my j727vl (sky pro) one? This sub forum is a little unorganized. Maybe the question is has this phone been rooted? (?). Technically I don't know so much how these things work, but I know if I can get this thing rooted I can possibly get wifi hotspot working on it which would be super fantastic. Might you know? Thanks
