Hi there no i havent had any luck in unlocking the phone the i have been in touch with the ppl that sent me the unlock code and they say that the codes provided are 100% genuine so im all out of ideas.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Call T-Mobile
If the phone is no longer under contract (the old owner finished out the contract, or the phone was bought full price, or whatever) they are pretty helpful with unlocking them, at least in the USA.
agreed. call the carrier and if your nice and have been with the carrier long enough they usually can help you out.
My Defy came from Argentina... No chances to get an unlock code... Does anyone know another way to unlock Defy? Actually mine is just like an IPod

I just tried to get an unlock code from T-Mobile but it wouldn't work since I had just gotten an unlock code for my G2x recently and I have to wait 90 days. I bought both the G2x and MyTouch 4G Slide out of contract for full price for use on FlexPay but I still couldn't convince them to give me the code. What are my options? Anyone know of any sites where I can buy an unlock code for this phone? I travel a lot and I really need this phone to be unlocked asap.
Try this site: http://www.htcimeiunlock.com/
I've never used it but it looks pretty reliable
Typed in my IMEI to get checked and no luck. No unlock code available on that site either. I guess HTC just hasn't released it yet and it'll take some time. Thanks though.
Uh-oh. I might hold off on purchase if unlock codes aren't available yet....
I just came across these guys
http://unlockthatphone.com/
Not sure how legit they are though.
http://forums.crackberry.com/unlock...unlockthatphone-com-its-nice-meet-you-540727/ - Their post there seems to be legit..
Anyone willing to give it a go?
Okay so I actually got two honest replies (I think) when I asked two websites about the unlock code. HTCimeiUnlock.com and UnlockThatPhone.com both told me that HTC updates their database every 3-4 weeks with new unlock codes and until then no one can unlock it and both of them will inform me once the unlock is available. My phone must have been manufactured super recently and the wait shouldn't be too long til the unlock code is available so when I know I'll update back.
Fair enough mate. Do report back on how you go.
This effectively means if I purchase this phone now, it will be of not much use to me... I'll just keep looking for a good deal.
Okay so even better news. I tried the T-Mobile live support chat again and for some reason this time the rep has put in my request for an unlock code so hopefully I'll just get it emailed from T-Mobile for free! I'll let you guys know how long it takes. This time I did make it a point to mention that I purchased the phone for full price from a T-Mobile store, not on contract pricing. But I feel like I just got lucky with the another T-Mobile rep.
I like the initiative mate. Hope it works out for ya. If you don't mind me asking, what details did they ask you for before lodging your request for an unlock code?
I'm wondering because if I import this phone (Sydney, Australia), would I be able to get them to lodge a request for me over the internet via live chat, without giving away the fact that I'm overseas?
Cheers
You'll need to have a T-Mobile account because they ask all your account details. Soon enough all these unlocking websites will have the codes available to unlock the phones so by the time you'll get one down to Australia it won't even be a problem. I just got the email from T-Mobile so now I can unlock mine! Good luck to you.
Nice one mate.
I took the dive......................... *heartbeat speeds up* I bought the device off E-Bay US... USPS should have a package for me next week..can't wait. Here's hoping the unlock codes are released by then. If not, I'll just have to use the phone's other countless features..
Let us know how this goes. I'm going to want to unlock as soon as I take a trip out of the US

Unlocking worked with the ebay link. I can use the phone right now but internet (not) yet. I set the APN right but no luck yet.
(update: probably some APN auth setting that was wrong. Internet connection works over 3g).

CJ, I'm in Australia also, i wanted to know if you got the phone and managed to unlock it.
I was'nt sure if the phone would work here.
how did it all go?
is there no way to this with root and gfree script? worked on the mytouch 4g non-slide
[edit]
it seems using gfree is a bad idea, it should be ported to a certain phone.
G2 and MyTouch 4G are supported, others not.
Using an unlock service on ebay worked for me

Hi Mate,
Yes, I did get the phone. I bought it off ebay. It took 18 days. If you do purchase it off ebay, make sure you don't use USPS - they are slow as.
After I received the phone, I got it unlocked via ebay ($20) and then bought an Optus Sim. I can happily report that it is working 100%, no issues what so ever.
Great device. No complaints so far.
Hi
My cousin give me a DROID 2 Global. I got it today but when i insert a SIM , the phone ask for a Code for unlock it!
But i dont have any code like this. I live outside the US, so is there any way to unlock my DROID 2 G?
Please guys help me with that..... :-w
Waiting for solution!
Tnx
Try those various websites and eBay sellers who offer unlock codes.
If those codes fail, your only solution is getting a TurboSIM and hoping it'll work.
Apparently, a new unlock database appeared, dated August 13th:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Motorola-Dr...ultDomain_0&hash=item1c1e12eb34#ht_500wt_1081
thanks for ur reply
can you give me some idea about TurboSim? where can i find this?
No clue. Never bothered with one myself.
eBay should probably help.
If you want, I tried this site for 2 phones and worked perfectly.
www.mobileunlockstore.com
Received both codes within an hour of ordering.
thanks
but I ordered this one, hope it'll work
just got codes from www.mobileunlockstore.com and not work.

They send me same codes.
when did you order this item on eBay? i mean they send the code via postal service or what?
last 2 days from mobileunlockstore and June from eBay item.
Yes, I got my Code today and it works
thanks everyone!
got the unlock code now stuck in reboot cycle
My girl has the Droid 2 Global. She got the unlock code from VZW in the USA . I rooted and flashed her phone with a ROM (I dont remember which one) and she popped the Vodafone SIM card in and it is stuck in a Boot Loop. It does show her home screen for a short moment then goes back into the red X splash screen. And repeats... I think that her ROM might not be compatible with vodafone and I cannot find any forums on it. Should she have the original stock ROM to use the SIM or does it matter?
Knowing what kind of ROM it is would be helpful.
Which Vodafone is it, by the way?
What codes ? To bypass the Verizon activation screen u Dnt need codes .. jus press the corner of the touch screens in this order... Top left, right top, bottom right then left bottom

T-mobile refuses to give me a code as I am not a customer in good standing, every unlocker comes back with nothing - the code just cannot be found. I have unlocked several phones through T-Mobile customer service. I simply tell them I am travelling oversees and need to use a GSM sim card from an oversees provider. Usually I would receive a response within a few days, but have seen 24 hour turnaround times before. The official name for the code is "subsidy unlock code" -at least at ATT they called it that. I think the only limitation is that TMOUS will only unlock 1 phone within a 90 day period per phone line or something like that. Good luck.
I tried to get an HTC One S code from Cellunlocker.net and it initially came back "not found" as they said its too new so try back a week later. I waited a week and a half and the code came back and it worked. Film it and you can get it for free sometimes!

Usually tell them you are traveling abroad and need it unlocked to use another sim card while you are over there. I have had several phones unlocked that way.
I have also just said "I need my phone unlocked for personal reasons" and generally they do not follow up with a why.
Telus is now offering the Blue/gray. Not sure if that would be any easier though.

Yeah, I work for T-Mobile in tech care and we don't care what the reason is really. You can do it for any reason at all as long as your account is eligible. I don't remember all the requirements but the major ones are these:
active account for at least 40 days (might be 45)
not delinquent, nothing past due on your account
not received another subsidy unlock code in the last 90 days for that phone line
There are other things they will check also, but those are the major points we look at. It's real easy though, we just ask for your IMEI and and email address and fill out an electronic form that goes to a department that gets sim unlock codes from the manufacturers. You will usually get an email with unlock code and instructions within 48 hours.

Can you please give their email here. THanks !
Just wondering if anyone knew how long, after purchasing their phone, does the "IMEI database" get updated? I've been trying for about 3 weeks since the day I bought my One X to get it unlocked only to be told my code is unavailable.
I think it's dependent on your carrier, some carriers won't let you unlock your bootloader ala AT&T... I'm sure there are others but that seems to be the most popular
Which is why there's SuperCID tool

He's talking about SIM unlock, not bootloader unlock.
As for the official SIM unlock for this phone, as far as I know, it can take up to 6 months before AT&T will allow you to unlock your phone, especially for a flagship phone like the HOX. I would search around and see if there are any cheap, pay-for SIM unlock solutions in the meantime.

Per AT&T policy and a class action settlement, they will not provide a SIM unlock code for 10 months after a phone's release. You also need to be an account holder in good standing for at least 90 days.
If the OP is an AT&T customer, best bet is to use a paid unlock service. Folks on here have gotten the code from eBay and other online places for as low as $4.
Thanks to all who replied...I've called AT&T and they say they wont provide the unlock until November. I've tried EBay, cellunlocker, and countless others with all saying my code was not found. I read somewhere on here that it takes about a month for this so called "database" to get updated. Just wondering if there's any truth to that.
I've always gotten mine for free from AT&T directly, but never paid attention to how long into my ownership though. My question is how are the paid services guys doing it, and why hasn't an individual or group here (lots of collective brainpower) reverse engineered the process and make a killing at half the cost?
I bought my phone July 1, and AT&T told me that they would not unlock it until December. My account has been in good standing for years, but they just won't do it. If you look on their support site, they claim that if the phone is new and exclusive that they won't unlock it for up to 10 months.
I wasn't able to get my Skyrocket unlocked from them either. Way easier to just put out a couple extra dollars and get the code online. Luckily the first eBay unlocker I tried had the code and it only cost me $2.
