[Q] How can I stop random reboots? - AT&T LG G2

I'm running Mahdi ROM 2.7 on my AT&T LG G2. It works pretty great for the most part, but at random times, it'll just reboot, sometimes a couple of times in a row. I found this will happen with high frequency if I have the "use GPU for 2d drawing" developer option enabled, so I unchecked that, but reboots still happen probably once a day, or especially when I'm navigating which is a pain.
Also, my settings say I'm running the D801 build (which makes no sense because I flashed the D800 zip on my phone). Any tips on avoiding the reboots?

[Q] Random Reboots and ICS

I just got a Xoom and have been getting constant random reboots. I can't repeat exactly what is causing it; it seems to be mostly random - e.g. web browsing, reading a PDF, browsing the market, etc. I've tried to do a factory hard reset twice already, but still get the random rebooting. Sometimes it will do a full reboot where I see the Motorola logo and other times it will sort of do a half-reboot and I only see the boot animation video and not the Motorola logo. I'm not quite sure what else to try
From what I personally understand and have experienced from several ICS roms including the stock one, as well as on my DINC, so i think this might be a common issue with ICS.
Personally I think it has to do with the rendering system being unstable and creating a loop in the program as it mainly seems to happen when the device is trying to render something. Such as new content on a webpage, new page in a PDF, transition effects, etc.
Certain applications seem to do it more often than others though, so I am not sure about this until I log the activity during these events.
The two types of reboots you are getting are a hard reset and soft reset
A hard reset completely turns off the device then turns it back up, showing you the Motorola symbol.
A soft reset only restarts the android framework, reloading files the operating system uses.
Unfortunately I personally do not know how to stop these at the moment, I just wanted to let people know this is not a singular case. Ill be looking for a fix as well and if I find one I will make sure you know about it DarkMuck
I've just upgraded my Xoom from HC 3.2 which never rebooted.
Rooted, flash CWM, and then loaded the latest ICS #45 with GAPPS.
Since then i have noticed that when i disable Wifi and go onto 3G, i get random reboots. If i leave Wifi on, so far i haven't experienced a reboot.
More specifically when on 3G when the phone goes to sleep after 1Min, it will then do the random reboot.
Are you running 3G or wifi ?
This is on a MZ601 in Australia..

[Q] serious lag issue

Question:
I have had ARHD 3.6 for a few weeks now. I did a complete factory reset before switching to it.. ARHD is a great rom, and thanks and kudos to all the people who have helped bring it to fruition.
But, here's the issue: For at least a week now, my tablet is running terribly. Constantly lagging or 5-10 seconds any time I ever make a move- closing/opening an app, going into settings, even moving from one homescreen window to the next. And typically I'll have to restart it, after freezing completely, 1-2 times a day on average.
Also, nearly every web browser is constantly lagging, or even freezing or force closing, with chrome being almost unuseable. Almost every single time I open up gmail app, it will work for 10-15 seconds before the tablet just straight up freezes and I have to restart it.
I was using the stock ARHD kernel at first, but I switched over to Harmony kernel a few days ago... no improvement.
Are there any suggestions for how to improve this, or any suggestions for a different rom to switch to?
I have a lot of free space on my tablet, I don't have many apps running in the background, and i've already tried wiping the cache in CW Recovery. This is seriously driving me crazy.
Thanks much for the help! And thanks to those who work on all of these roms.

I have had similar issues with my Transformer in the past. Then, I discovered the hard way (after deleting everything... I mean everything) that going back to stock, rooting again, and then flashing Team EOS that my Transformer became better than new. You may not want to go back to stock again, which is ok, so I would recommend the usual wipes and then flash Team EOS ROM and the Kat Kernel. I have found that Apex, Nova, or even Next Launcher to make a difference as well.
just a question about your latency: do you have it with power cable connected only or every times ?

I agree with the suggestion for Team EOS 4, I feel like my tab performs better than when I bought it two years ago.

Revelation Rom random reboots

Hi, I have a problem with random reboots on Revelation Rom. I already know some users have already reported some issues with it. Full reboots are totaly random, they happen when i dont use the phone (sleep), when i try to unlock it, or doing anything like typing a message, using web browser, etc. Ofcourse i did a full wipe befeore install, installed rom with default settings, i also didn't restore any apps, or something.
This is my last_kmsg from last reboot, i hope it will help SebastianFM to solve the problem (i believe there is one, other roms work like they should and i think i also do everythig like i should during install and after).
Can't post it in dev sectcion due to 10 posts restrictions.
Cheers.
Use 1188 mhz max cpu frequency, no cpu control software, I don't have reboots.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using Tapatalk 2
I have already tried to set 1188, 1296 and 1512 during install, all options gave me the same results, so i think it is not realted to CPU max freq.
I don't know if we have the same problem, I have my sensation turning off randomly for no reason what so ever. The weird thing is when it is plugged in, it doesn't turn it self off. I already brought a new battery so shouldn't be that. I also tried putting some paper in the battery section in case there was a lose connection. Played around with software, got nothing changing ROM, changing CPU freq, changing radio... nothing helps. I think mine problems are random reboots + shutdown, so it is not all ways the case it has rebooted. But when it does do the random reboot, it is often when I am trying to wake the device. I have no idea when it shuts down since when I try to wake it, it was shut down. Then I had to hold the power button to turn it on. Lastly, I think i get mostly shutdown.
Well, i don't know what is causing your problem. If you change between different roms/kernels/firmwares/radios/etc. and problem always exist, it can be hardware related.
Mine only appears on Revelation rom, and i always get the full reboot (no soft reboots or shutdowns).

These reboots are caused by kernel 3.4.10, not ROM, so we may continue this discussion on my kernel related thread. Reboots occurs only on few devices. I received many kernel logs, but I didn't find the reason, errors are different for each user.
The 12th day on the Revelation ROM and not a single reboot.
Also writing here due to the 10 post's rule eek
Will go back to the Revelation thread after this post because I really like the SebastiamFM's work and I have none of there mantioned problems (maybe one or two).
I was havign problems on the begining thoe... i couldnt startt the phone. It rebooted when I had to insert the PIN code or before the Sense even managed to load. Then I formated everything (including the SD card) to eliminate any "remains" of previous ROM's and i set the GPU on 300 and the MAX freq to 1520 and from than till now not a single lag.

Try using performance governer instead of ondemand.
Happy to help.
You could try reseating the battery or securing it a bit tighter, some users have reported reboots because of the battery being somewhat 'loose'.

[Q] Random power-downs in TriForceROM 3.0 on Samsung Galaxy s4

I would post this in the Developer forum, in reply to a poster who has the same problem, but I just registered and therefore do not meet the requirements to post there.
I'm wondering if anyone else has observed this behavior. In short, I installed TriForceROM 3.0 (after performing a "Wipe User Data" operation in TWRP 2.6.0.0) and all was well for about 12 hours. During the ROM installation, I chose the "Standard" option, as I believe it's called. (I didn't elect to customize anything.)
After 12-18 hours of having the ROM installed, I noticed that my phone was simply powered-off. I hit the power button and nothing. Then I held-down the power button, which is how I normally power-on the device, and then realized that the device was, in fact, powered-off when I came back to it after a few hours of being in the other room.
After powering-on the device, the same thing happened a few hours later, and the issue seems to be occurring more and more frequently as time passes.
I have not changed any of the ROMs settings, and I haven't installed any type of third-party "tweaking" app.
Another individual has the same problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43942167&postcount=1466
Could this be due to kernel, power, or CPU settings? I noticed that when I opened KTweaker for the first time, the application warned me:
"Your KThermal values do not match current, Apply values?"
and
"Your vibration Strength does not match current, Apply Vibration Strength value?" (this one seems unrelated)
The CPU temperature seems to hover around 45 degrees Celsius. (Is this a normal range?)
Another observation is that when I long-press the Home button (to bring-up the app-switcher), I see a little Android icon with the title "MIPErrorActivi...". If I click on it, I'm simply dumped to the Home Screen. I don't know if this is at all related.
Thoughts or suggestions, anyone?
My phone is model SPH-L720.
Thanks in advance!
I went into KTweaker and clicked "Load Defaults" and rebooted, and everything seems to be stable. No reboots in 18 hours or so.
Also, the ROM author has mentioned this issue, as well as an interim fix (related to the KT kernel), and says that he will release v 3.1 within a few days, which should fix the issue entirely.
Good stuff!
UPDATE:
Well, the phone rebooted itself, eventually, so setting KTweaker settings to defaults was not the solution.
However, I downloaded the kernel update that the ROM author suggested ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2288309 ) and that does seem to have fixed the problem. No reboots in over two days. Yay!
An interesting aside is that with the new kernel and accompanying KTweaker app, the warnings that I was receiving with the old kernel when launching KTweaker disappeared. All is well!

Thanks for noting this. I actually started my account for the same reason, but haven't had enough useful input to get the posts to leave feedback in the dev forums. I sure don't want to spam useless posts

Haha. Well, glad I could be of help and that we both garner a couple of "useful posts" out of it.
I'm pretty sure that the reboots continued for me (although, less frequently with the kernel patch in place), but upgrading to TriForceROM 3.1 seems to have fixed the issue altogether. It's worth noting that I chose a different kernel this time (I forget what it's called; the name is four letters, all capitals). No reboots in the first 24 hours.
I doubt it makes a difference, but I also upgraded to the MF9 firmware from Samsung. Happy to answer any questions in that regard, too.

I would wager that you moved over to AGAT's. Several users reported lag with that kernel, so I stuck with KT.
After more reboots and a lot of tweaking, I've got my issue nailed down. Raising the voltages on the low end cpu frequencies (where a phone would normally be with screen off) has corrected the stability issues. I also had to up the voltages at the high side. That helped Antutu to run for a while, but now that's crashing back to desktop for me. When it does run, I usually hit around 25,000 with the Triforce 3.0 + Ktoons kernel with overclock enabled. I have not overclocked the GPU (yet). Running KTmod, but not crossbreeder.
I may back this all up tonight and reflash with Triforce 3.1. I've been fighting battery issues: Google Location Services and Android Widgets Pro seem to be behaving badly.
I feel like I'm very close to a fast, stable rom install with good battery life. Once I get there, I'll wait a couple months until the existing ROM's and kernels are polished a little more. And now I'm one post closer to being productive in the Dev forum.
That's the one; AGAT's kernel. I haven't noticed any sluggishness with the ROM's (and or kernel's) default settings. So, I'm happy!
No random power-downs or any other abnormal behavior since upgrading to 3.1 and switching to AGAT's three days ago.
I don't know if it was upgrading from 3.0 to 3.1 or switching kernels that fixed the random power-downs; I'm just glad I have a very fast and stable ROM at this point.
My battery life has been good. Moderate usage throughout an 8-10-hour work-day leaves me with about 70% battery when I get home.
My hat's off to the developer. I think I'll kick him a few bucks.

Display stops working, mostly, on second boot after installing non-stock.

I've got an odd problem with my p900. If I install any lollipop ASOP ROMs, the first time I reboot after initial install, the display mostly stops working. The first boot works fine, I go through the setup wizard, set everything up, and the tablet works and displays fine as long as I don't reboot.
Specifically, what will happen if I reboot is that the tablet will go through the normal boot, and get to the point when the wallpaper and status bar will come up, but no homescreen icons or anything. Then after a while, about 2-5 minutes, the display will go black except for the status bar. I can pull down the notifications drawer from the status bar, and it will display, as will the quick settings, but anything I tap to try to interact with will seemingly just do nothing. If I have 'show touches' on, then touches will display properly, anywhere on the screen, but they seem to do nothing. I've tried trebuchet, google now, and adwex, the home app doesn't seem to make a difference.
The problem first began in I want to say october, when I flashed a CM12 nightly update. I unfortunately no longer remember which nightly I was on nor which I flashed to. I of course immedately tried to flash back to the previous nightly when I discovered the problem, but it did no good. It took me a while to figure out the pattern to the problem after it first occurred, as I often don't reboot the device for a long while after a first install. I don't have a lot of spare time to devote to sitting down and just focusing on trying different things, so it wasn't until president's day weekend that I tried what I *thought* would fix it, ODINing back to stock and installing the latest CM12.1. Clearly that didn't work, or I wouldn't be posting.
I've tried the 20151104, 1029, 1006, and 0910 CM12.1s from http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...nt/rom-cyanogenmod-12-lollipop-5-0-1-t2971945. I've also tried Civz lollipop, pacman, and resurection remix. Anything not stock based has the problem. I tried running stock, but I've been running CM since G1 days, and I just can't stand stock, even the stripped down and modded versions. It just doesn't work right, and I can't get used to it, even after forcing myself to use it for several days.
I've never encountered such a weird problem, and I can't seem to find anyone else having a similar problem. I have no idea how to troubleshoot this beyond what I've done already. I'm currently running thompatry's Cm12.1 20160212, having not rebooted after the initial install, and it's running mostly ok, but I live in dread of my battery dying, and of course I can't install any xposed modules like xprivacy or multiwindow, which is bothersome. I have the wifi only US model, v1awifi, and I'm currently running TWRP 3, tho I was on TWRP 2.8.something when the issues first started happening.
what's the last 3 characters of your bootloader version?

Have you tried changing kernel? I mean in the case of civz lollipop rom you do get an option of 2 different kernels try choosing the opposite to the one you had chosen before. Thank you, hope it helps.
I won a year ago 2 Note Pro, one works flawlessly while the other is slow af and it has the same issue that you speak about. If I stay on stock everything is good more or less (sometime little slow), but if I install Lineage or any other Custom Rom is too slow and has the same issue you speak.
I changed both batteries, but nothing to do. If anyone knows, text please.
Thank you!
