Left handed people

I officially hate HTC. Whoever designed the spot for the charging port obviously did not consider left-handed people, I can't even hold the phone properly while it's on the charger.
But, most right handed people hold it with their left hand and vice versa. Are you special?
Majority of the time I hold my phone with my left hand and use my left thumb to use the phone. It works perfectly for me, trying to hold the phone in my right hand is uncomfortable and unfamiliar.
I really like this phone, but the charging port may be a deal breaker for me.
Its hard for me to use the phone when its charging as I typically hold the phone in my left hand.
I'm trying to hold the phone with my right hand, but its not very natural for me at all.

haha i hold it perfectly with my left hand while charging ...try putting the charger in between your middle finger and your ring finger like this >>>>( pinky finger, ring finger, CHARGER cable, Middle finger and rest the bottom of your phone on your pinky finger the back of the phone should rest on your middle finger, index, and ring finger ) <<<< try that
this phone has excellent battery life.. charge the phone then use it; problem solved
Not bad, but this position won't allow you to use the phone with just one hand while its charging.
I too am left handed. The charging port on the G2 is on the left side if the phone is facing you. I take it that the port on the MT4G is on the right?
Those bastards, they should put charging ports on the top or the bottom and keep us lefty's in mind!

No, the charging port is on the left side at the bottom. I always hold my phone in my left hand, so it's a problem for me.
I agree, on the top or the bottom are perfect spots for a charging port.
On my nexus if I'm using it while charging I'm usually on landscape and having it on the bottom is super annoying.
I decided to order a motorola right angle micro usb adapter to see if that would help.
I'll report my findings after I receive it.
lol im left handed and id rather this then the vibrants usb at the top :/ i used to always answer it upside down
Got a MT4G for my GF a few weeks ago and after fiddling with it for a while I really want one and can get one for a decent price on Craigslist. Only thing stopping me is the location of the usb port. I am left handed and can not hold the phone comfortably while its plugged in and thats a deal breaker.
But to the point... Has anyone tried using one of the right angle chargers with the phone? From pictures of them they dont look like they would stick out nearly as much as a normal mirco usb plug and may be the solution to this issue.

I have right angle cable and love it. At first I thought the cable pointing up was strange but later founded it proper. Especially with the headphones plugged in, both cables now point the same direction.

um... okay...
I just did it the easy way... be ambidextrous at everything. Still prefer to write with my left hand a little out of habbit... but everything else works just fine left or right.
Its a win win!

If it's a deal-breaker, it's a deal-breaker. Don't really see you can blame HTC, no matter where they put the ports someone out there will complain about it.
If you actually spent a week or two operating the phone with your right hand you would be fine. Do you mouse with your left hand? I know I don't. Was easier to just figure out the mouse with the right than have to adjust a desktop every time I wanted to use it.

Its funny you type this cuz thats the same exact thing I do! Without any doubt, I absolutely believe they totally looked over the fact that there are left-handed ppl out there! I believe all ports should be on the bottom, only thing thats allowed on the top is headphone jack. Leave the sides for buttons. Until then, that weird remedy of ours will have to work lol
I'm a lefty too, and I didn't really feel like it was the most convenient place for a USB, but it didn't bother me UNTIL i read this thread. Dug out an old 90 degree charger and using it now. Thanks for bringin' it up jerks. haha just kiddin'

[Q] Anyone experiencing Funky Lockscreen?

Has anyone experienced their lock screen just randomly starting to take up only half the screen in a weird buggy way?
it's happened more than once now and if I see it again it's gonna piss me off
I wanted to know if anybody knows what causes this?, and is their a solution pre-software update?
I will upload a screen shot whenever I have a extra camera available.
my lockscreen has done it once but nothing major
This has happened to me twice today. I've rebooted it to fix it, but it's annoying that this is happening.
I've had the same issue. I was using the body glove case at the time. This weekend I took it off because it broke and I haven't experienced it now. My guess is that the phone isn't grounded enough to pick up your finger sliding to unlock it.
I've noticed that the lock screen will take up half the screen size only when i'm using the weather lock screen. Also I am using the body glove case and Had the issue once where i couldn't move the lock icon away. I realized that part of my hand was slightly touching another part of the screen. and that fixed the issue. It seems that when these phones get more graphical thats why glitches tend to arise.
I never use the weather lockscreen I always use the clock.
Right now u have a checker board Tpu case on my device.
After I posted the Op I cleared the data for htc sense in manage applications under application settings, and the issue hasn't occurred again.

This has happened to me twice now (and I've only had it for 3 days)
It might have to do with the weather lockscreen (that's what I'm using right now) but I'm not sure (I think I was using the wallpaper lockscreen when this problem first occurred). After the first time, I turned off the phone and took out the battery for a minute. It went away for a day, and now it's back. I'm not sure what else to do. I am not using a case for the phone right now, nor am I touching any other part of the screen while trying to unlock the phone).

Nexus s compass

Is there yet a fix for this yet? The only way I can get it to work properly is to violently shake the device, which I'm assuming is a physical defect?
It must the thing inside which determined what degree one is facing because google map points to the direction of gravity or somewhere else until I shake the phone to fix it.
You should calibrate it. This is the correct method http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP3d00Hr14o
I can calibrate it and it'll work, point to a somewhat of a right direction. However, after some period of time the compass goes weird again which I gotta calibrate it again.
mine did work perfect in 2.3.4 I think. Now i'm on 2.3.5 and it's going crazy, but on average point the north

[Q] DIP Switch

Does anyone know what the DIP switch located in the transformer is for? The only thing I found is a post mentioning a different wifi setup.
My experience messing with it is that the transformer won't turn on when it is in the up position unless the tablet is plugged into its charger.
Please see post 7 for the issue I am experiencing and how the Dip switch is involved.

I did search, here and Google many times over the past month. Only found 1 post with the info that I mentioned.

If I overlooked something I would appreciate a push in the rite direction. Or is that all the info there is?
Off the top of my head, I thought it was the switch that disables the battery? Somewhere, in a galaxy far, far away, there is a thread, and buried deep in that that thread, someone speculated that the ASUS techs use that switch to shunt the battery when they service bricked TFs so that the flux capacitor doesn't blow up and send us all back to the 80s. OK, maybe that's a bit of a strech, but I do think it has something to do with the battery.

Its use is still unknown, but at least the post confirms the behavior that the OP is seeing.

Nice! Especially the Back to the Future reference. Allow me to explain my situation and why I am so interested in that tiny switch.
I purchased my Transformer from Newegg back in July or August. It was an open box and I saved around $150 because of that. Unfortunately that means it only had a 1 month warranty, this brings us to my problem. It runs great but every once in a while a lot of the apps, including the browser, will force close. Also if I go in to settings once this problem starts and shut off the WiFi and then try to turn it back on it just says error. Trying to turn on Bluetooth also does not work.
The solution is to reboot, however, it will only run for a short while before the problem returns. I have tried the stock rom rooted and unrooted, I have tried various roms, revolution, prime, revolver. After flashing a rom or doing a factory reset the transformer will run for around 12 hours without the above mentioned problem but it always comes back and it happens more and more frequently until I do a factory reset.
I have tried countless things. Various roms as mentioned, factory resets, freezing as much as I can using titanium backup, not adding a Google account, turning off gps, different wireless networks, assigning a static ip address, using ExtSd2InternalSd v2.1 to install apps on an sd card. All of this with no success.
Enter that dip switch. I decided since my warranty was over I would open it up and do some poking around. I discovered if I put that switch in the up position and boot the transformer with it plugged into the charger it runs perfectly stable. The issue is gone. only problem is that I can only use it plugged in. This situation lead me to the conclusion that it is a power supply issue, maybe a defective battery (Not getting the full 1.21 gigawatts . So.... I switched out the battery in my dock with the one in the transformer and put the dip switch in its original down position..... No Luck, the problem persisted. Return the switch to up and plug it in, runs great.
Anyone have an idea?
How does it run while the switch is down (in the crappy position) and plugged in?

The problem is still there. I even tried it in the down position with the battery disconnected and the transformer plugged into the charger but the problem continued.
I guess it could be a power/hardware issue or maybe a sleep/software issue. Perhaps it doesn't sleep while it's plugged in?
Regardless, it's quite an interesting problem.
gee one, thanks for your help. Maybe someone will come up with a fresh idea, I have tried most of what I can think of.
I might try the dual boot Ubuntu thing to see if I have the problem in Ubuntu. I figure that mite help narrow down if it is a software or hardware problem. I lean towards hardware because I have not been able to find others with this issue. Then again, maybe others that have had this problem had a warranty and returned it for an exchange.

Forgot to mention, I tried setting the screen to never shut off in hopes that it would prevent the transformer from sleeping. Not sure if there is another way to prevent it from sleeping? Whatever the case leaving the screen on did not prevent the problem from surfacing.
Install ROM Manager and tell it to Fix Permissions?
I've had extensive FCs on some devices I've rooted and fixing the permissions has helped.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately I have cwm installed and have ran fix permissions and while it did help with some of the apps force closing it did not fix my problem.
I was about to ask where this switch was at because I've never seen it, then I read that it's inside the unit. I have no reason to crack this bad boy open yet so that's why I had no idea about it.
It is a battery kill switch, makes it easier to work on without blowing the **** out of the unit by bridging the wrong points on the board for what ever reason. basically with the switch up it is a "service mode"

Help my right side of the screen dont work?!

Hello people on XDA!
I hope anyone can help me out here
I broke my glass on the phone , and I got a new glass installed over the old LSD screen, by an prof. but the new glass with the old LSD could be calibrated together, then he did it, and it works after that.
After some time, couple of weeks, the right side og the screen dons't work proppely.. When I turn on the phone there goes around 20-30sec before the right side can be used, but after that its works perfect!
Its allso when I turn on after the screen have been off (lockscreen) its the same, 20-30sec the it work, otherwise its dead
Remeber there is a picture(The LSD allways work), but no control at the right side of the screen
I have tryed allmost all RADIO's and so on!
allso tryed the ground pin and the back cover.
I have tryed everything I could fine on the web, so now I need help!
JBC
Your phone has an LSD screen? Whoa. Jk, sorry man, it's most likely that the screen is installed wrong, nothing any radios could fix... Maybe take it back to whoever installed it and complain?
Sent from 3000 years in the future from my extremely outdated, but still extremely awesome HTC Sensation Z710e
Maybe its the LSD screen that's why it isn't working properly
Sent From My Sensation Running Aokp.
Take it back and have them correctly install the screen. Do it soon while its under watentee and don't take no for a answer, they messed it up they need to fix it properly! Best of luck. Reinstallation is the only option at this point. Nothing else will fix this issue. Sorry.
