It is a problem with your SystemUI.apk in Root/system/app folder
Flash an appropriate one for you

Can someone please tell me how to remove the gradient of status bar in kitkat update on my GS4 I9500 or atleast modify it?
I know how to compile recompile etc
and I guess it would be in systemui.apk but please can someone tell me which file it is?
I want to make it lighter or remove it altogether

Hello, i have a very frustirateng problem! I like the EMUI system very much! But, the statusbar annoys me! It color up after the wallpaper and not the Apps material prefrences!
It only works when the app request a transparent status bar(Kitkat)! Im looking for help or advise to solve this problem!

Hello, and welcome to XDA! Perhaps there are themes that you can use? Or if you are rooted, you could look at the Xposed modules: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules. To install Xposed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/xposed-installer-versions-changelog-t2714053
