Hi,
One day I was having fun with my brand new TF101 trying to root it and flash a rom...
I did a MASSIVE FAIL and now I get the asus logo when I turn it on and it only turns off when it has low battery . I can however acces the XPA mode (but useless, NVFLash doesn't work on B70+) and I can get into wipe mode and cold-booting. I tried both but the transformer just freezes . I wonder if one of you guys can tell me if I just have a 399€ paper weight mad or if it can be a tablet again D)?
Thanks,
HorClok
What were the exact steps you did to root and flash ?
Did you install CWM Recovery ?
Power off the TF by holding Power for a while until it turns off, then
Try holding Volume Down + Power until white text appears onscreen, then either choose Recovery or Wipe Data

All i get is wipe Data or cold booting Android... :/ I don't have a recovery mode on this tablet (it's a WW)
after the words appear, you have to push vol up within 5 sec to get into recovry.
If you wait after 5 sec. you'll only get the clear data or boot options.

I think he has nearly the same problem like me.
i also cant get into recovery. but now its enough for me.
I will RMA it tomorrow. i also highly doubt that new SBK-Codes will ever be leaked/cracked.
There was nothing for month now.
Good Luck for you, but i guess only Asus can Flash it back with there "secret-Flash tool" or whatever, which we unfortunately don't have!

Maybe you can try to use the rom from the asus support site, put it on the external card and look if it will take the "update" ?
You have to unzip the downloaded zip file once. So you get a ASUS dir on the card. I think not unzipping further down.
Or try to play around with the unzipped file like is done here (even in that thread it is an OTA update and not a complete rom).
Just some idea's, didn't try it myself.
If it has access to fastboot...can't he just use the fastboot command to flash the system and boot images?
Where can i find this fastboot, and how get it to work?
Not all hope is lost - I did the exact same thing to my B70 trying to install CWM on it (then found out what a B70 was...). I managed to recover it using ASUS built-in recovery kernel.
The catch is that it seems the recovery kernel will only install a newer firmware - not the current or an older one. If you were still on the older (pre-Christmas firmware) maybe you can use that one right away, otherwise ICS is right on the horizon. If you don't know which you were on, it doesn't hurt to try anyway.
Here's what I did:
1. Stash the transformer under my bed for a month so I couldn't see it laughing at me while waiting for an update.
2. Once there is a newer firmware than the one you currently have, download it from ASUS (sorry I can't post the URL because I'm too new, it's pretty easy to find though)
2. Unzip the downloaded package
3. Find the zip file under ASUS/Update, copy it to an external Micro SD Card and rename it to TF101_SDUPATE.ZIP
4. Insert the sd card into the transformer, then resart it while holding the volume down button (if, like mine, the transformer won't stay off, that's fine - hold down the power key until it turns off, then hold the volume down as it starts back up)
5. When you see the white text in the top left corner, press volume up to enter the RCK.
6. Cross your fingers
If it works in a minute or two you should see a progress bar start up. If it doesn't you will see an android with an exclamation mark in a yellow triangle on it's chest.
If it doesn't work, don't despair - it might be the firmware you are using is too close to the existing one on the tablet. Wait for the next release and try again. It took me a month of waiting, but I finally got mine back.
hmm but you where always been able to access the Recovery, so that you can the Androidman with yellow triangle or?
On my Pad, if i press vol-up it shortly shows "booting recovery Kernel", and than screen gets black and instantly reboots.
You had the same behaviour?

Unfortunately it seems yours might be even more hosed than mine was then - I could always access the android with the yellow triangle. The recovery/wipe/cold boot screens were always available, it would just hang at the ASUS screen on boot, always restart when turned off

Just to double-check - did you use the name TF101_SDUPATE.zip? I'm not sure if your above name was a typo after a long day of debugging
Good luck - I had pretty much given up hope after bricking mine, but did get it back. Hope your recovery efforts go as smoothly!
hmm, TF101_SDUPATE.zip ?
i thought all times "EP101_SDUPDATE.zip" ?
So what is the right name?

Now I'm wishing I had taken better notes when I did it.
I'm 90% sure I ended up using TF101_SDUPDATE.zip, because I was surprised too - I had previously seen EP101...
It certainly doesn't hurt to try both. It's also possible that the current firmware recognizes a couple of names.
[EDIT]
Looking at my terminal history, it looks like TF101... was an earlier failed attempt, and I did use EP101_SDUPATE.zip
If you haven't try it with the name EP101_SDUPATE.zip and see if it works any better!

Hello!
Okay, so the weirdest thing has happened with me. My Nexus S (i9023) was working absolutely fine till last evening when it ran out of battery. After I came back home, I put it for charging and switched it on.
For the first few time, nothing would show except the USB connected/ disconnected screen which appears everytime you plug your phone in. I thought maybe it was just being weird, so I took out the battery and booted it up again. This time I am just stuck at the Google Logo! It is not going ahead.
I can enter CWM Recovery. However, I cannot mount sd card or usb storage or anything for that matter. If I try and install through .zip it says 'e can't mount sd card'. I can't format my sd card either, same problem of can't mount. I thought if I tried pushing a ROM in by ADB that might work.. It did transfer the file it showed that in the cmd window. However, CWM refuses to mount my sd card or my usb storage.
So basically, in essence, I'm locked out of my Nexus! Please please help. I'm really lost and confused now.
Thanks so much.
Alex

Let your phone sit for an hour with the battery out, Download Wug's Nexus Toolkit from the development section, download drivers from there and install stock boot img then re-root.
I have never seen it before but seems like this prob is coming up a lot lately. It can be fixed. Good luck.

Thanks for your reply. I'm starting now. I have a doubt, how do I install stock? Since I can't seem to be able to mount anything..
"It can be fixed" - few words have given me this much hope in my life! Thanks a lot!
EDIT: I guess you mean flash through ADB right? Okay, let me try that. I really hope you are right. Some of those other problems lead to paying up! Ouch.
Hey! I just tried using WUGS.. for some reason it does not make the final boot and instead says: 'Fastboot Status - FAILWrite Fail' -- oh god.. I'm trying it again now..
Is there any other way out? :/
Okay, so now my recovery is also gone after using WUGS.. oh man. And the phone isn't starting up. Please please please help? I'm getting really desperate now.
EDIT: And it sucks that I can't post in the WUGS thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766475) because I have less than 10 posts! fml.
can you boot into fastboot? If so then itnwasnthe same prob I had when I wiped my phone and SD in recovery. If you can boot into fastbootnthen makensurenyou leave the batt out format least an hour. If you installed Wug's drivers the bottom left corner ofnfastboot should give a message.

Yes, I can get into fastboot - i'm leaving the battery out now - do you think i should try
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase userdata
and then flash everything again?
There is always a way to recover the nexus right? Even if it is hardbricked, right?
I really really appreciate your help.
I too have this problem but after a lot of battery pulls it does eventually start up. It just started happening all of a sudden. Ive heard that heating it up with a hair dryer or heatgun can help and also re-locking and un-locking the boot loader can help as it wipes the card. Could be worth a try.
Any luck Someone? I know it sux big time to feel like your phone is bricked. I am not a dev or expert but it sounds like the prob I had last week, when I posted no one replied so I ordered a GNex thinking all was lost. Before I activated my new phone I felt like I had to fix my nexus before getting started on my new phone and that's my situation. I don't want you to feel like the community has forgot you and thats why I'm trying to help. Were you able to get Wug's Toolkit to recognize your phone after leaving the batt out? I don't know why but I think that's the key. I had to leave mine overnight 'cause I don't have a PC and the next day at my friends house when I plugged the USB in I got that message at the bottom of fast boot "system normal" or something to that effect. Once recognized the stock boot IMG is what you need.
ANY ONE ELSE WHO HAS HAD THIS OR A SIMILAR ISSUE PLEASE GIVE SOME ADVICE. LET'S NOT LEAVE A COMMUNITY MEMBER WITH A LIFELESS PIECE IF PLASTIC. THANKS FORUM.
To set your mind at ease yes, I believe as long ad you have access to fastboot your nexus can be saved.

sounds to me like a hardware issue, since you haven't changed software and it seems like a brick. try flashing stock rom via fastboot, you should be able to google around how you can do that.

Hi, if I'm not wrong essentially what WUG does automatically is what you do by fastboot (erase bootloader, cache, system.. and then flash all of them back) in both system fails to wipe and refuses to be flashed again (flashwrite error).
I don't want to lock it and then unlock it again because I read in other threads that it might lead to a permanent lock with an error for subsequent unlocking - that would leave me completely out.
Anyway, let's see - I've given it to someone to check it up. I'll keep you guys posted. He said he wanted to repartition the sd card.
My intuition says: hardware problem!
So I tried Odin today - and that also did not work it refused to flash the ROM. In the process I somehow managed to mess up the bootloader such that the phone would have some two lights on randomly when I switch on. It doesn't go into download mode either. I next plan to use JTAG to get the bootloader back and then reflash everything. Hopefully, that should sort things out. The Resurrection tool is amazing! I'll keep you guys posted.
Get it going someone?

I have the same problem as you, with the added difficulty of my phone not being recognized by anything other than fastboot. No ADB commands will function. It was charging, rebooted itself into a bootloop, and I have been struggling with it ever since. It is currently a worthless piece of plastic, my favorite phone ever, gone.
I can wipe and re-write recovery all that I want, but it seems as if the sdcard partition that /system and some other stuff writes too is either corrupted or physically damaged. Every time I flash it all via fastboot it all goes as stated, but gives me a fail message on the last two partitions and never allows me to actually write a new ROM or boot image. I wanted to try ODIN but can't seem to get it to recognize my phone in download mode...
Let me know if you have any success or progress!

Hey Nexism! Sorry for the late reply - things've been busy.
The JTAG is giving an internal voltage for some reason - so I've sent it for repair. It'll be repaired by tomorrow or so.. I'm then going to set it back up. It's all already soldered and all, just waiting for the JTAG. I think I've understood how this thing works now. So yeah, I'm hoping it's all sorted. Thanks a lot for your concern man.

So ladies and gentleman, JTAG also failed - apparently something was wrong with the sd card only. I got my motherboard replaced - luckily the guy I went to knew someone and Samsung and charged me Rs. 4,000 as opposed to the Rs. 8500 quoted by the Samsung Service Centre. Oh well.

I am with the same problem here... I cant turn off my phone or it get stuck in pre-boot phase. Acess recovery and cant mout sd card. Using last stable cm 10.
I think my sdcar is dead.
Same problem here. Around 8 out of 10 times I get stuck on the Google logo, 8 out of 10 times in recovery I can't mount SD card as well. And if I successfully boot, Media wakelocks and my battery drains in sleep as fast as if the screen were on. Please help.
For me I first noticed that my apps weren't using the SD partition. Tried to mount normally (fully loaded ROM) (ROM is SlimBean Beta2), but it would not mount. Went into CWM and tried to mount in there, but it would not work. tried to "Format /sdcard" but "Error mounting /sdcard". My phone still boots and runs fine, but I just don't have access to the SD partition. I don't want to do anything because I need my phone for business. Is there any PROVEN way to fix this yet?
Hey guys!
I just bricked my phone by wiping dalvik cache after installing marmite. Now my phone is just showing a black screen when power on.
Ive tried using the UnbrickableMod Tool by Adam, but my device does not get recognized.
What do I have to do? I love this phone, and I do not want to buy a new one yet

So , I just did use the ubtool again , but this time on linuxmint, which gave me superuser access using that. But I only get far till <sbl inj. failed>
Gonna take a look now who over dudes solved that, but still feel free to help me
flash the non-cm version of marmite.
how can i flash something if i can't get into download/fastboot etc. mode ?
Anyway, I still can't get through the SBL injection Failed thingy, i think i gotta make a hardware modification (unbrickable mod) :/
Well, ain't nobody helping me? Doing that UnbrickableMod looks extremely hard, because the things you gotta change are very very small!

Try Nexus Root Toolkit (for windows).. Though I think you'll need to be able to boot to boot loader??.. (vol + & power)
If you can't do that, read the threads on Odin, it may help..
Doesn't work either, actually I can't access anything on the phone :/
Gonna take a look at the odin threads
Hi,
I recently installed a deodexed Stock Rom, and I'm pretty sure I used CWM to do so. (I haven't touched this tablet in about a month). Today, I was in the process of doing a factory reset, through the actual OS Settings, and now it's stuck on boot. It gets past the ASUS start screen, and gets to the screen with the Green Android robot, with the Blue spinning cog thing, like when you do an update or wipe.... but it will not go past this screen. If I hold power and left volume, it just goes back to this same screen. Vol+Right, brings up APX on Windows when connected with USB, but I don't have any saved blobs. What are my options at this point? Is this truly bricked?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Doesn't sound as if he can get into the bootloader for fastboot.
_that seems to have it right (as usual).
Just read about someone who factory reset from settings with CWM installed and couldn't get out of recovery.
He solved it by letting it do it's thing "for hours".

I came here after searching "Android spinning cog TF300T" (and a lot of shouting at my tablet).
I have CWM installed and stupidly wiped from system instead of the bootloader (I have CM10 installed).
I got all p**sed off with my tablet after the spinning comatose Android r2d2 so I chucked the tablet on the seat of my van and went for a coffee. I read this while enjoying an americano at Cafe Ladro - I came back to my van and the tablet has restarted. It took about two hours of just "leaving the damn thing alone" for it to work.
As a side note - thank you to xda-developers for this and tonnes of other resources I've used. You guys make me, my Asus TF300T, and my multiple HTC Vision / Desire Z / G2 devices happy! :good:

Great that you got your tablet back, but just for the record: Wiping from the bootloader would have had the same effect as wiping from Settings! [emoji12]
Use your RECOVERY and only your recovery once it is a custom one.....
Hello everybody,
I hope that someone can give me some advise to get my tf300t up and running again. I wanted to install cm10.2 but I wanted to install CWM first.
I unlocked my device first with the unlock app v8 from asus.
I tried to install CWM the first time but it did not work.
I went back into recovery mode but I wasn't paying attention and pressed wipe userdata
Now my tf300t only shows the ASUS logo and the text that the device is unlocked. I can't get back in recovery mode anymore. Is there a way the restore it back to default?
I hope that someone can help me out.
Thank you in advance for your time and effort.

If you cant get into there, you cant really use fastboot. Unless you made NvFlash Backups beforehand, I don't think there is much else you can do, since the recovery isn't working either.

I'm on Asus screen, I can reboot it by either holding down pwr button until it reboots, or using reset switch with a paperclip. vol - does nothing, just reboots to asus screen...computer sees nothing. vol + goes into APX mode (blank screen)...computer detects with correct drivers. I've tried draining battery completely...disconnecting battery for a few days...same result.
If I had to speculate...maybe at some point someone will figure out how to use another's backup files and push them to the device in APX mode.
I've looked into replacing the motherboard...and have seen some for as low as 50$ on ebay. Personally, swapping them would be easy...but some may not have the caviler attitude with hardware swapping. Just gotta get the wife to agree to spend the $.
I'd die for a free fix, the kids really miss playing with the thing

I'm on the same boat, this morning I was trying to install CyanogenMod following the instructions and wipped the tablet... I only have APX connection now with no backups...
