Simple Book Cover Included? - Galaxy Tab S Accessories

Does the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 normally ship with a Simple Book Cover included?
Just received my new 10.5 or almost got it. The USPS delivered it today and I opened the shipping box only to find out that the Tab S box had been tampered with! One corner has a seal that says, "DO NOT ACCEPT IF SEAL IS BROKEN." Well, how am I supposed to not accept this item if the carrier has already left. Anyway, the box has definitely been opened so I wasn't going to go any further until I notified the vendor. I had to email the vendor since they weren't open on Saturday.
Just of of curiosity, I did open the box further and noticed that the tablet had been re-wrapped in a bag about twice its size. Also, under the tablet separated by a cardboard piece was a Simple Book Cover. Looking further, I noticed the power plug appears to have been used as well as the power cord. There was also no literature of any kind.
Learned a lesson. I usually buy from Amazon or Best Buy. I didn't this time, but I will in the future. They at least have a decent customer service always available.

Who did you purchase from? If it was an eBay seller they are frequently open box items.

Actually ordered this ordered through Newegg but they apparently farmed it out to some vendor who I shall not name until he has a chance to fix this problem.
This box and the tablet has definitely been messed with so I'm not messing with it until I know it's not a refurbished or used unit. It's also missing some literatures. I can't properly resell it at a later date with stuff missing.

@Guardsix it's doesn't come with any cases/ covers whatsoever. Did you check to make sure the tablet itself didn't have any issues, physical or otherwise?

Look at the corner of the first pic. It clearly shows a insert of the Simple Book Cover. It says, "Simple Book Cover Included".
No, I haven't messed with the tablet itself. It's not even wrapped correctly. Most of these things come in a plastic warp with the opening on the back. You lift up the opening and then slide out the tablet. On this one, the seal is on the front and it's definitely been open at least once. I'm not touching the tablet until the vendor says he's sending me a new one.
Here's some pics in the attachments.

the 1 i bought from costco came with a simple cover and the box looks just like yours.

My box didn't have that on it, so maybe it was a special promotion at a specific store.

Blimey, mine came from Hong Kong and arrived in much better condition than that.

Got this one sent back today. Hope the vender send me one back in a lot better shape and with the Simple Book Cover.

Many times some listing may say "damaged box" or "damaged packaging", at which rate you are buying "as is."
Was/is there a return policy?

The thing about the return policy is that this was purchased through Newgg but they farmed it out to a place called "Eectronic Deals". That apparently is one of their "Marketplace" vendors. Still, Newegg's policy is supposed to be the fallback if the marketplace vendor doesn't honor any part of the sale.
I looked up this "Electronic Deals" and can't find any web site or any information about them at all. I have an address in Brooklyn, NY, but that's it. I'm assuming they are reputable. They have sent me information on how to return this item at their expense. I've asked for an exchange because I really want this package with the Simple Book Cover included.
So, now I'm just waiting for them to acknowledge the return and then send me out a replacement. We'll see how long that takes.

It's important to note that there is a difference between the Simple Cover and the Book Cover.
The Simple Cover is designed to protect the tablet's screen, and snaps securely to the back of the device. Reference Samsung part EF-DT800BSEGUJ (10.5", Titanium Bronze). Link - Samsung Website
The Book Cover is designed to protect both the screen and back of the tablet; it also snaps securely to the back of the device. The Book Cover converts into a stand, allowing for multiple viewing/usability angles. Reference Samsung part EF-BT800BSEGUJ (10.5", Titanium Bronze). Link - Samsung Website

Uh, if I'm paying $450+ for a tablet, I would certainly know the difference between these two covers! What was/ is your point?

My "point" is that you keep referring to it as as a "Simple Book Cover"; either you got the Simple Cover, or you got the Book Cover. They are two completely different products.

Ok, I got it now. My bad. Simple Cover it is! Thanks for clarifying. I finally got it through my thick skull.
The rest of my story. I returned the package to Electronic Deals asking for a replacement in a sealed box. I was notified by Newegg that I would get a refund. Electronic Deals had no intention of giving me a new, unmolested tablet because they don't most likely don't have any and never did.
After reading a ton of Newegg reviews about this company, Electronic Deals, they have a less than zero rating! Very few people got what they ordered from them and others have had terrible trouble getting anything back from them. I talked with a Newegg Customer Service Rep. and told her about the trouble I had and asked if they ever read any feedback about their third party vendors. She just kind of said, "We're not responsible for third party vendors." So I asked her why they have farmed my order out to a third party without even telling me in first place. She then said, "That's how our Marketplace service works."
Well, it doesn't work. So, if you buy something from Newegg, don't let them send you to a "Marketplace" vendor or you might never get anything.

Moko 360 degree rotatory, removable cover case pictures

Hi all,
I just got my TF700 and a Moko case from amazon, and wanted to share the case's pictures for all the "I must find the perfect case for my infinity" people out there
First of all, case is this, $19.99:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0088IA9PC/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i01
So far I like it, I used to have a similar (different brand though) for my Acer A500, and I use the vertical orientation to read comics, PDF documents etc.
You can also remove the tablet cover from the main flap case (or whatever it is called), which is a bonus for me because it makes holding the tablet easier / less bulky. There is an elastic band on the back of it once you remove the cover from the case to make it easier to hold with one hand.
I did not try to fit this on a dock without the case removed by I doubt it will fit. I can try it tonight if anyone wants it.
Flip cover closes with magnets, there are no Velcros or tabs.
And the pictures are attached.
Thanks for the review and the pictures (especially the pictures). You may want to copy and paste this (or link to this post) into the case thread so it wont slowly get lost in the fray.

Thanks for the suggestion, I just copied the link the main case thread.
The tablet slides into the dock just fine with the cover.
Fuuu I was deciding this case or the poetic one and now that I see the pics I see how much more stylish and less clucky it is the poetic has a spare for the keyboard and they detach but I didn't want to case my keyboard... Hm it still hasn't shipped what to do...
That's the one I have and I'm very happy with it. So far, MoKo has been AWESOME in their quality and customer service, it's tough to find those two things together anymore.
I think this one looks a lot more boss. Anyone know?

No worries! I actually bought that case, as did some others on here when it said it was compatible with both, a few days after we noted that it didn't fit right they took the TF700 out of the description, so if you need a nice case for a TF201 I have one. Man, I think I have a closet full of old cases, chargers and other phone stuff I've accumulated since getting my first cell in 1995 lol

Dang, that's pretty retro, man. My oldest cell phone was one of those motorola tiny bar flip phones (I was a luddite for quite some time). Luckily, I've moved on past those days. Also, I can never seem to find any of my old stuff, maybe it just disappears.
LOL - I remember UPGRADING to that model.
Here's retro for you - in the late '70s / very early 80s my father had a motorola car phone with a ROTARY dial (pre cellular).

My dad had one in the 80s that you carried around in a suitcase, he was a US Postal Inspector from 1970-1990.

Danny Glover actually uses that exact phone in 'Lethal Weapon", he's talking on it on a freeway overpass in one scene. I graduated High School in 1990, and I don't remember anybody in school having a mobile phone then, nobody I knew even carried pagers, they were mostly restricted to government, police, businessman, etc. We used payphones when on the go, and regular landlines at home, the days of being on 24x7 hadn't arrived yet Heck, even when I got that first phone in 1995 mobile phones were still a novelty for most.

LOL. That is pretty old school. It took a bit of google searching but I found a photo of my dad's old car phone. Sorry for dragging the thread wayyy off topic. Just funny to see the old tech. In thinking about it some more, it was probably early to mid '70s, not late 70's early 80s.

Bought the same case on Amazon but found one flaw
I bought this exact same case on Amazon for my TF700 too. I really like it except for one small (or major depending on your view I guess) flaw. if you try to take a pic with the 8mp camera and the flash goes off, the bounce back from the edge of the case near the lens creates a lot of glare in the picture. I haven't tried to find a work around other than to take the tablet out of the case. Just thought I would post as a heads up.

Can't get the Orb? Take a look at this...

Review is up! Click here
*Just a foreword...I am not saying that this QI charger is better (or worse) than the Orb. This is not a comparison of any sort. Rather, I'm raising attention for this charger for those unable to get the Orb (pretty much everyone outside the US) and/or those who personally do not like the Orb. With that said, let me give you my thoughts*
Right, so I stumbled upon this very good looking QI charger for the Nexus 4, and I think it deserves a thread of its own.
Clicky here to see the product. You will find high quality pics/renders in the listing.
For a start, it looks miles better than those unsightly large ones being sold by fasttech, and the plasticky (is that a word?) "small" ones. This charger looks truly compact and I love the aluminium finish. The charging light is also well placed and not obtrusive. IMO, a beautiful device like the Nexus 4 should be used with equally beautiful hardware.
Another bonus is that this charger is actually from a reputable brand (at least in China) called Metrans. Again, I find this to be a more promising sign of quality than what the unbranded ones have to show for.
My point being, if for whatever reason you cannot or do not want to buy the Orb (I live in the UK and personally prefer to place my gadgets flat), this charger may be worth considering. I certainly think its worth buying over the massive ones sold by the likes of Energizer.
At $59, it's by no means cheap but I think its a double edged sword. Quality is usually proportional to price (Apple being the exception)
Unfortunately this seems to be a brand new product so I was unable to find any reviews. I have taken the leap however and bought one so I will update you all once it arrives. I expect it to arrive in about a week, so keep an eye on this thread if you're interested

My purchases from China usually arrive in a week
Also I did say this was for those not interested/unable to buy the Orb. It's a mixture of both for me
A final point...you say "$60 for a cheap charger", are you aware that the Orb costs the same? And $60 is by no means cheap.

Yh I noticed that as well, but I guess all sellers have to start with zero feedback right?
Anyway I sent him an email and it appears that the first few chargers (i.e. mine) are being sent from China but inventory will be made available in the UK in a few days.
P.S You can also buy the charger from here. Appears to be a Chinese marketplace for foreigners (like fasttech, dealextreme, etc). However the price is the same.

Quite the opposite for me, I prefer it to be flat, won't have to worry about the slippage issue some people are complaining about.
Also yh, this already wins in the looks department but hopefully my review will show that it functions just as well
I like the design. But being almost identical to the orb's pricing makes it hard for US-based buyers to justify the purchase.
I'll hold off from buying the orb for now and wait for your review.
The ebay seller is a lying sob. He claims he's a EBAY TOP RATED SELLER.
To become such a seller you need to, and I quote "Have at least 100 transactions and $1,000 in sales with US buyers over the most recent 12-month period." and "Have an eBay account that's been active for at least 90 days"
See all requirements here: http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/top-rated.html

Wow, calling him a "sob" seems a bit harsh. He has a small image at the very bottom of the listing saying "eBay Top Rated Seller", that could have easily come as part of the template for the listing. Anyone can see his seller rating so it would be very hard to mislead anyone.

it's not part of a template, it's something he intentionally added to his listing. You should be cautious with ebay sellers from china with low feedback like this and claiming that he is a top rated seller just shows the seller might be dishonest about other things in his listing. Not saying you wont get what you ordered but who knows what the quality will be like until you can review it. Ebay can be pretty sketchy esp. sellers from china imo, i wish they would add a review feature like amazon.

Also, I heard they jack up prices by as much as +$20, but I can't find the same item at eBay. If anyone knows a better site to order this from, please share.
P.S. Though I have seen this case for much cheaper at Aliexpress, I'm not ordering from them since they do not support PayPal, and I've heard many horrible stories from dealing with their merchants.

It's at dx-box.com for around $30. And they do PayPal.

It seems to work the same as the Element Eclipse case (routes the speaker hole to the front of the phone). As for signal, yeah, I'm aware of the issues with aluminum cases/bumpers. I'm willing to risk it since the case just looks so freaking sexy.
Btw, DX-BOX is legit, right? Because I'm ready to pull the trigger.

I've seen that case on ebay. Search for "saber s4 case". Looks nice but I have to wonder about how the signal strength may be affected. That and the weight.
What is strange is that a few of the auction descriptions say to take off the battery cover before using the case.
I'm willing to give it a shot. Ordered from DX-BOX two nights ago, and my order is listed as "processing". Already ready to make a PayPal dispute in case things get messy, though I hope it doesn't come to that.
I don't mind the weight either, since I like a bit of heft on my phones anyway and the S4 weighs virtually nothing.

Well it's been 5 days since my order, and it hasn't been shipped yet. Still says "Processing", when they replied back to my complaint saying they would ship 1-2 days after I sent them my message (it's been 4 days).
Thinking of filing a PayPal dispute if a week passes with no news. Not looking good so far.
UPDATE: Been more than a week since I placed my order, and still no tracking number. "Ray" has responded to my emails but hasn't given me a tracking number yet. I understand shipping delays and everything, but I don't even have a tracking number to work with.
Comment: Hello, I was wondering how long it takes for an order to be
"Processed". I ordered from you 2 days ago, and it still says,
"Processing". I have not received any notification if my item has
already been shipped or not.
hi, i apologize for the inconvenience, we 'll start shipping in 1-2 days

Comment: Hello, it's been more than a day now since I last emailed
about my tracking number. On an email before that, you mentioned the
item had already been shipped on Oct 3, but last time you said it was
a holiday in China so I assume it hasn't been shipped yet. But if it
has, may I please have my tracking number now?
I don't have any news about my order. I might have to open a PayPal
dispute if I don't get any news. I don't want to do that, since I'm
still hoping this goes through smoothly and without issue.
Thanks.

Ah yes, the old Chinese Holidays, shipping delays and customs excuses
But in this instance, it appears to be true regarding the Chinese Holiday scheduling. See 2013:

But should still have gotten a tracking number....
Hey guys!
I just ordered a metal battery door replacement for my GS4 from Casefanatic. I have to say it looks absolutely gorgeous, but functionality went down the drain. I get really bad reception with the metal back battery door.

That being said, I'm only assuming that their metal cases may give the same problem, but I may be wrong.
On another note, I bought TWO battery doors since they had some sale going on. The battery doors are essentially plastic doors with a thin metal sheet glued onto them. I ordered two black, they sent me one white and one black.
After contacting customer service...
Hello Eugene,
Sorry, it seems we do not have the black frames, so they sent the white frames instead, without notifying me.
If you wish to return them, please return the case, using any standard cheap post $2 - $12, to:
Mod Edit – Some content removed
We will refund you once we receive the case.

So because of this and the fact that my connectivity gets cut, I will be sending them back.
They are overseas (China), so shipping takes a while. Customer service seems fairly speedy however. I got a response back within the same day, so they don't seem so bad!
Although I have to pay for shipping to refund the thing, at least I'll get most of my money back. Hopefully the refund process goes smooth. I'll let you guys know!

EDIT: To the above posts with that whole "Processing" thing on the tracking website. I had the exact same thing. It said "Processing" for about a week, then suddenly showed up at my door. But whatever.. I'm hoping this refund thing goes down smooth...
Still waiting for my item to arrive. At least the tracking number finally works now. Apparently it's still at customs in Beijing. Last update was 5 whole days ago too.
still waiting?

dust stuck in the tiny groove around the edge

I've spotted that small amount of dust is stuck in the groove (or 'crack' of some sort) around the screen of my device, especially the bottom bit. It is indeed annoying. Anyone has some suggestions? I tried the needles I have but none of them fits in there to get the dust out.
Noticed it too. I use the edge of a piece of paper to clean it. Works for me.

Brilliant idea! It works.
Same problem, paper "trick" works

This always annoys me. I kind of had the same problem with my Galaxy Nexus, but not nearly as bad. It seems like it's more noticeable or happens more often with my Nexus 5. I hope phones of the future can eliminate this issue.
any solution besides the paper edge trick? i've a tiny sand grain in there and the paper edge bends when i try to clean it
Can of air maybe? This is much improved over the gapping issues I was having on my One

This. If you got some compressed air it'll work great as well. Just make sure to hold it straight so the liquid doesn't come out, that always seems to happen to me when I'm getting on the inside of computers.
You can also use the sim tray tool. That little black ring with a tiny poker? You can use that to clean dust from around the edges and out of the holes. Just be careful if you're cleaning out the speaker grille, don't poke the speakers.

Isn't the "Sprint" version the same exact one you find at the play store? It comes with a Sim card tool. You need a dim card from Sprint to use this phone. There's no ESN (electronic serial number) to activate.

It's the same phone but it comes in ever-so-slightly different packaging if you get it from Sprint. The SIM comes preinstalled and there's no tool in the box. Also, there is definitely an ESN to activate. I own the phone and I went through the process.

Then I am very confused because as far as I know my Nexus 5 which was bought on the Play Store has support from Sprint out of the box. I can guarantee that LG or Sprint will not release that phone without a Sim remover. Did you buy the phone brand new from Sprint or from else where such as Craigslist, eBay, etc.
Check the box thoroughly. Mine came with 2 for some weird reason. One black and one silver/chrome.

Dude, I know what I'm talking about here. I'm aware that the phone itself is exactly the same whether you buy it from Google or Sprint. What I'm saying is that the box has extremely minor differences (I'm talking fine print here) if you buy it from Sprint (or Amazon, in my case) vs buying it directly from Google. I bought my phone brand new, and there was no SIM removal tool in the box. Believe me, I looked for it.
Take a look at this photo if you don't believe me. This text is not present on the box that you get from Google Play.

Interesting. I had no idea they would even package it different. I thought everything would be exactly the same. I would advise that you pull the complete box apart though. My black Sim tool was hiding in somewhat of a secret compartment.
Here are pics of both black and silver/chrome Sim tool still attached to paper.

Yeah, there's nothing like that in my box. I've scoured it from top to bottom. I'm sure it has something to do with Sprint not wanting people to take the phone to a different carrier since all the other phones they sell will only work on Sprint's network (in the US, at least). Interestingly enough, the phone also came with Sprint-specific paperwork:

That sucks. I would then advise you to buy a Sim tool specifically for the Nexus 5 because our hole is a little smaller than the average Sim hole. Check eBay or Amazon.

So I got this case cause I loved the design, needed protection for my 4XL and the look of the red with the black. First off I wasn’t expecting such a solid case for the price that I paid !! This is up there with much more expensive brands quality wise for 1/2 the price. Install was simple enough and the buttons are clicky and all ports perfectly aligned. Squeeze to activate Google assistant works like always and the “lip” around the Rear camera and front of the phone offer great drop protection. Along with a tempered glass this is all I need to keep my phone pristine. My favorite part is how the audio is channeled to the front once the case is applied so it enhanced the media watching experience and now I can’t cover the sound when watching in landscape . Amazing job !!
You guys should get one. too!

You're literally the guy who posted the ad about giving out free cases for Amazon reviews.
You could at least just state that and then give the review from your eyes instead of pretending like you're a regular user of the case.

it may be, and honestly mine is arriving today, but if you're going to post about a product then you need to be upfront about how you acquired it and not come in hot spouting bull**** about how it's the greatest thing and that people should buy it. then get defensive when someone calls out your bull****
It's a scam. Long story short, they make you buy the case (and a ****ty water bottle) and claim they'll refund you via PayPal.

Just to clarify one point, not saying their approach is sleazy or not, but they send the money before you order it. They are lying about a lot of things, but free is free. And I will give an honest review.
I can confirm they are not a scam I got the emails and then received the payment to my PayPal. I don't work for them and I'm not affiliated. I have ordered the case and the bottles to which I am actually gonna use the bottles. I have an idea. Will update when I get the items in.

I just got the same email word for word the other day. It took so long for a reply from them that I already bought an awesome tech21 smokey black case and a cheaper case when I first got the phone. I'm definitely going to pass on this. Never heard of having to buy something completely unrelated and having them pay for both but give a review for a case it's just too weird.
and I think the guys got like 3 threads about a case on here already.
But to each their own I guess and it all depends how far someone is willing to go to get something for free lol.

it's actually not uncommon. the fact that they pay first is not normal
The first thread is shady as it can be trying to game Amazon's algorithms, but seems "legit" as far as it goes.
THIS thread, on the other hand, is just spamming the forum. Dude doesn't love the case he got for his Pixel 4 XL, he's putting another thread to get more eyes on the product in a different section of the P4XL forum. It's the definition of spam.
I've dealt with a few different companies producing phone accessories who offer them for free in return for reviews. I make a point to clarify ahead of time that I am happy to review their products, but won't be altering my reviews in any way just because the product was received for free and most seem happy with that. With one of these companies, they've even become my go-to for any phone cables or chargers I buy (I'm looking at you, CHOETECH.)
The whole process here felt a bit different and off, in a very bad way, than the process of ordering/reviewing accessories from those with whom I've dealt in the past. Most are fairly honest about where they're from and I have no problem with Chinese phone accessories, but I was less comfortable with this at first especially because of the requirement to purchase another item I wasn't even interested in (the Favonian travel bottle set) and due to the writing style of the e-mails, included photocopy of a handwritten note (which kinda defeats the purpose of making it seem more personal in my opinion), and the name attached to the funds transferred to me on PayPal, this doesn't seem like a company from Frisco, Texas to me. I'll also note here that the (rather cheap) packaging for the case itself states it was "Designed in DFW Texas", but "Made in China".
One user in this thread also mentioned that this whole deal seems designed to manipulate the Amazon recommendation system. The process includes searching for the product using specific keywords, asking a question to create buzz about the product, and adding it to a community idea list as well as ordering it along the aforementioned Favonian product. That's where things begin to feel especially uncomfortable for me. I see nothing wrong with receiving a product for free in exchange for an unbiased review and even if I have an issue, I'm happy to give a company the chance to rectify it and earn the positive review they're seeking.
However, I have both products in my hand, was issued a PayPal payment before making the purchase, and do like the case. It's big and assembly wasn't the easiest (I don't really see this as a flaw- cases that go on easy are often the same ones that will fly off the moment a phone drops), but the case itself is solid and seems like it'd do a good job protecting my Pixel 4XL from falls. Audio output and microphone input work fine, despite another poster previously mentioning he/she didn't see any holes (there are spaces on the front for audio) and it doesn't conflict with the glass screen protector I already had. Honestly the travel bottle thing seems pretty cool too. If I actually traveled much, I might use it.
This wasn't a scam, at least in my case, though I'd also be lying if I said the experience was comfortable. It felt less like they were seeking honest reviews and more like they were hiring us to act as operatives to bring more visibility to their products. That said, when I post a review, it will be about the product itself, as it is a product review, not a seller review or a customer service review.
I don't like ads masquerading as legit postings from real users who spent their real money on a product. The OP is misleading in several ways and I don't do business with misleading outfits. I'm not reporting because I'm not the forum police but the post violates forum policy and should probably be locked/taken down. And fix the ad before you post it again, very unprofessional.
