I have an N915F with NK5 base and recently I noticed that my "Downloads" icon s missing from app drawer.
I checked in installed apps and is there (Enabled).
When I download a file, I see the download running in the top bar but when I click on the download it opens My Files instead of downloads and I cannot stop or pause the download.
Did anyone experienced the same? Is there any solution to get back the Downloads?
Thank you.

The last time this happened to me the downloads icon was tucked away inside of a folder in the app drawer.
Even if the icon it was hidden somewhere and I cannot see it, when I download a file, I should be able to see my downloads in the download manager instead opening directly My Files.
I am also missing the Downloads app. is this normal?
I cannot find the apk even in the stock ROM.
In the mean time I solve it by flushing the attached .zip.
I know that is from a 4.3 ROM, but it temporarily solved my problem.
If you find a 4.4.4 apk, please share it here.
Good luck.

Simply download a froyo asop rom. Any will work except cyanogenmod. Extact the zip, go into system app, and look for browser. Drag and drop onto root of your sd, get some sort of file manager app from the market, and install it. I think this will work, but i have never tried it.
Until you drag the file onto your sd, this is all on the computer.
Can I get the link to download the file
can someone post up the link to download the stock browser please

I will once I get home and test it out to see if it works. Check back in 30 minutes.
..........thanks
im pretty sure it wont work. i put the browser.apk on the sd card and when i went to astro to install it, it asked me to uninstall the current browser. so i think the only way it might work is if you rooted the phone and then pulled the sense browser and pushed the aosp browser
o i see thank anyway
pushing the browser.apk doesnt work either
how about you just rename the browser.apk thats already in the system\app folder and any odex file in the \system\app folder then install it with the installer app from the market or install command via adb......
hhmmm ????
Hi all.
I have Humble on my S. Droid Charge, thank you developer, and can not find "My files" app on it.
There's "Explorer", that appears to be looking like "my files" app, but it asks for an additional app to download, to open any folder.
Is that what I am supposed to use now? Just trying to delete some pics taken with phone camera, simply can't figure how to get to them.
Thank you

Sorry if this doesn't help, but I'm not at a computer right now.
Somewhere (either here or on rootz) there is an ee4 deodexed rom that is flashable in cwm. Download this, unzip it, and go to system/app. There you will find the apk of every stock app.

yes, I do have CWM ROm, I simply did not flash with it yesterday, after I installed Humble via Odin.
If I understood you correct, if I flash in CWM with that ROM, then "my files" app will be back?

Don't flash it, but put it on your computer and unzip it. Then go to the system folder in the extracted files, and go to the app folder inside that. Copy the myfiles.apk to your sdcard. Then on your phone use root explorer to put it in /system/app/

You need root explorer to get into your system files but if you want to get into your sdcard files open "explorer" scroll down to sdcard and all your files should be in there.

yep, got to sdcard and those pictures easy.
problem is, now picture opens, but menu for it disappears. well, it appears during picture load, but as soon as pic load is complete, there's nothing I can do to it, only zoom in and zoom out. neither pressing "menu" button or tapping anywhere on the black margins around pic produces a menu.

Moving to Q&A
I just installed the latest JB file from CM10, as announced on the site. The installation went smoothly, and without any problem. However, in the instructions provided, there was a link to the Google Apps for this version, named gapps-jb-20120717-signed.zip. I also downloaded the file, and it is also put under /sdcard on my tablet. But I can't install this zip file. I have CWM version 5.8.3.1 installed, which seemed to work fine with this CM JellyBean. I am getting an error message about the zip file when trying to install the Google Apps file mentionned above. On the announcement page with the links to download the files, they only give the links to the two -signed.zip files. I assumed that both zip files should be installed the same way, but it appears they are not. Can anyone help me ?
NB: I use the Samsung Docking station/keyboard. Anyone had any issue with this before ?
Thank
Extract the apk's from the zip folder and install them normally! Few apps won't install this way. Put those apk's in "system/app" and change the permission to rw-r--r--
Reboot your phone and the apps should be there!

Bad file
Although the file was pointed properly in the page, the actually downloaded file had a mad MD5 checksum, which was not displayed on the download link, only on the download page. I also noticed that after restarting, I had a strange display, where instead of having the default green wallpaper, I was having lines of random color bars. Another reboot, and it now seems to be fine again.
I also mentioned that I have this Samsung keyboard that attaches to the tablet, and has a replication port. The keys on the top, like Back, Home, etc, seem to work only half the time. More testing will be required on this.
Good Idea !

That's an idea, and I will also look at this. I guess this is what will give me the Google Apps program so I can re-download and/or reinstall the programs that I used to have under HoneyComb 3.2.
Thanks. I will try this too. :

It might be possible that there is a ".nomedia" file is created in your downloads folder which is stopping the pictures to appear in gallery.
I would suggest you to manually navigate to /downloads folder and look out for a file named .nomedia and delete it.
Also if you look into that folder further, you will find that all your downloaded files would be present there so you can access them via there.
Hope that helps,
Cheers.
Hello does anyone have installed fx file manager or VLC?
They both install extra apps so you get 2 icons when I put them in a folder and reboot they reappear out of the folder. Anyone else get this?
