[Q] Doubt about unlocked bootloader - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi , I am here because I am decided root Moto G , so I need unlock the bootloader, I search for my ID , put in Motorola page , and they send me de UNIQUE KEY .
I used fastboot oem unlock UNIQUE_KEY , and my phone turn in a black screen with a little text saying Unlock.. , and my cmd in windows said:
(bootloader) Unlock code =
(bootloader) Failed to erase partition
(bootloader) General Unlock failure
(bootloader) OEM unlock failure!
FAILED (remote failure)
finished. total time: 10.292s
I entered in panic and wait for any response in phone but the screen dont change for 2 minutes, so i try fastboot reboot and my phone reboot , with the signal of the bootloader unlocked , and boot correctly.
I turn off aganin and entered at fastboot mode and the bootloader status said that is unlocked .
Ok , now , is correctly unlocked? or what? i can root now ? The phone was recovered in factory , and boot well , i don t know what to do . Thanks for answer.

Looks like you are unlocked then. Have you tried installing a custom recovery or rooting? That way you'll be sure.

No , i havent tried to root , because if any partition is wrong or there are any file missing , i believe that phone could brick. I will wait if anyone write about this , and I will try to root. Thanks for your answer.

No risk in bricking your device here . The worst case scenario is you having to reflash your stock firmware if you get a bootloop. It's very simple and there's a great guide about it. In the general section, or in Q&A.
Either you are unlocked and rooting will work
Either you aren't and rooting will just fail with an error. No other consequences
Either you aren't and flashing a custom ROM (CM11, CM12... any) will result in a bootloop

Ok , root perfectly and install cwm , treath ckosed , thanks @crakeron

Usually locked bootloaders allow you to flash signed images (Ones made by the manufacturer) so I would recommend trying that
i have full dump here with me and just tried to flash Stock recovery.img : fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
but same "security Deny ...errors"

adb can't detect mx5 locked device...only fastboot are available . i also got pinned here. mx5 got brick after trying fastboot oem unlock... please dont do that if u haven't.
fastboot oem unlock cmd = will brick mx5 device
fastboot flash boot update.zip = will shown error "permission denied"
fastboot update update.zip = will notify of missing android info.txt and android device info.txt
mediatek flash tools = result will not detect device since phone is locked. and only fast boot available (with minimum permission)
im stuck also... have to wait for meizu releasing the official flash tools or unlock. and also u can just send to meizu service.
surely meizu do a poor jobs to their customers right. we own the device..its up to us to unlock or not.

Please help ! Can't unlock bootloader : TWRP installed. NO OS. installed

Hi, I have a real problem with my one-week old oneplus one that I hope I can get some help with. I've spent two days trying to fix the problem with my phone and its totally baffling me.
I managed to unlock the bootloader and root the phone and install twrp and SuperSU using the Guide : https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...oader-install-custom-recovery-and-root.64487/
I experimented flashing roms. Then I tried Oxygen but hated it. So I wanted to revert back to the factory rom and then upgrade to 11S. Since then I haven't been able to unlock the bootloader. I am using fastboot because I am running a macbook pro with Bootcamp which has a small partition and limited filespace. In fastboot, when I try to boot from recovery, it returns with
FAILED (remote: Device not unlocked cannot boot)
Whenever I try to unlock the bootloader, the oneplus reboots back into twrp before I can 'fastboot reboot'.
I've found this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/mod-reset-unlock-tamper-bit-t2820912 this afternoon, downloaded the folder, but now have no idea how to use the script or where to put it?? I hope that this would unlock the bootloader?
Can anyone help me please??
Apologies in advance for being a NOOB. I'm upgrading from an iPhone 4S so please take pity on me !

All you need to do is download the OnePlusOne-BootUnlocker.zip file from the thread that you linked to, boot into TWRP and connect your phone to your PC, copy the zip to your phone, and flash it with TWRP, then your bootloader will be unlocked.

Can you please help me unlock OEM on Yu Yuphoria 5010A with android OS.

Hi ,
I have recently purchased a Yu Yuphoria 5010A. I thought it had cyanogen mod but found to have just Android OS.
I have searched this forum for unlocking OEM and installing recovery to install cyanogen mod. I activated allow oem unlock in developers options and then tried to unlock via fastboot . fastboot detects the device but I am unable to unlock oem as it says "remote : oem unlock not allowed " . I was able to temporary boot into cwm recovery using "fastbbot 0x2A96 boot recovery.img" but it was not able to further install the mod.
Can you help with unlock the oem and install cyanogen mod. coz all the steps mentioned in this site and others have failed.
Thank you
Hii I also bought same model and also want cynogenmod os. But I don't know if its possible to flash cynogen os . but I rooted my phone an d its working perfectly. I had same problem of can't open bootloder not allowed to open bootloader. I checked the allow to open OEM in developer option. I guess this model has already unlocked bootloader cause I just rooted it even when it said can't unlock bootloader. You can try it but download stock ROM before if anything goes wrong. And please tell me if I can flash cynogen mod is it safe

You might need to reset with the /sdcard/ dload method. Check out the other forums for instructions.

It's highly unlikely that you're SOL, if you can get into the bootloader then you can flash the stock recovery. If you can flash the stock recovery, you can flash a rollback package to completely restore everything to stock.
So long as you have a working fastboot, you're fine.

ah, the thing is..... both the bootloader and FRP are locked. as i mentioned, he wanted to return to stock and followed a guide here. he doesnt remember what exactly he did as it was almost a month ago but it ended relocking the bootloader and FRP. i really feel horrible for not helping him which is why im desperate to get this working. i might just end up giving him mine.

so i tried and nothing, i get to the blue splash screen and the phone just reboots. i keep trying to unlock the bootloader but i get the same error as i posted above. shouldnt i be able to unlock the bootloader? im thinking that i have some kind of driver problem.
my pc is pretty much dead so im using my laptop and im not sure i have it set up correctly. anyway, i know oem unlock is required to unlock bootloader but is there anyway i can unlock straight from fastboot?
Try a 'fastboot oem relock' with the unlock code, then after the reboot, try unlocking again.

Question Help unlocking bootloader

Hey guys,
I am trying to unlock my bootloader but it doesnt work, everytime I do the "Fastboot oem get_unlock_data" command, it says it failed to get unlock data.
I have unlock bootloader option in dev settings enabled and all drivers properly installed along with fully working sdk and fastboot tools etc. I have a couple xiaomi devices with different custom roms.
Previously I installed RETLA using tiny fastboot script cus i bought the phone in latin america but software channel says RETAR... Is this discrepancy the problem?
If not, anyone know why even though bootloader unlock option is on, the fastboot command to get the data fails?
Using getvar all i see the cid is 0x0000, i've read that having cid: 0x0000 is the problem, might installing the proper firmware: RETAR change this?

Most likely you will have to forget about unlocking the bootloader.
Reflashing will not help you in any way.

Do you know why the cid is like that? Idk what has been done to it cus I bought it used. Any ideas?
Ty
The boot loader on your phone was blocked incorrectly and the system stopped starting.
cid: 0x0000 is a consequence of the boot loader working state recovery software.
It is now in a state oem-locked" as it was originally from the factory. But you cannot unlock the bootloader now. But, if I'm not mistaken, you can install firmware for any update region without having to unlock the bootloader.
