Windows battery meter is reading only one of the two battery cells. Full discharge and recharge might fix this issue. It did for a while for me.

How to make it a Windows only install: Thanks @Kohe
I found settings for windows only in X10HD WINPE images.
Make installer USB sticks and edit WINPE/Scripts/Main.cmd
Change line 44:
diskpart /s %InstallPath%\wimpart_dual.txt
to
diskpart /s %InstallPath%\wimpart.txt
I've already tested it.
C drive has 49.1GB free of 53.2GB.

I have my hands on this unit now and the build quality is good, there are few creaks and noises around the other trim when the top and bottom halves meet. The screen is as bright as my X98 Air 3G's and the audio is the same volume and no doubt the exact same speakers as the Air 3G.
Here is a unboxing and quick hands on video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8gvo9UtgUs
Touch response is good and smooth, my unit has a Hynix eMMC which reads at around 150mb/s and writes at 50mb/s. Cameras are the correct way up in both Android and Windows 8.1. 60hz screen in Windows. The battery life on my unit seems to read incorrectly, as Windows only reports the capacity of one battery cell of the two. I will see if a full discharge and recharge will fix this issue.
Windows seems to take advantage of the 2560 x 1600 display more and looks sharper and the metro titles and scaled well. Scaling is set at 250% on stock, but looks good.
Android: Play store is BROKEN! Not good at all, I have tried looking for an OTA, I think there is one. But I cannot download it. Maybe others might have some luck? Try here: http://www.teclast.com/tools/pad/pad.php My ID code is M6K6. I see files for the Windows 8.1 image and Android files, but I can't download them!
Edit: 30 minutes of Real Racing 3 and no crashes! Looks like my Z3736F is a good one.

Hi Hendrickson, thanks for your effort!
Can you make a video showing windows usage with 250% scaling?
Do you think lower resolution in x16hd model would be better for windows usage?
Thanks

Can you try unity benchmark and all the games usually freezing x98? Is it true that boot from USB isn't possible?

@Hendrickson said he played 30 minutes RR3 and it didnt freeze at all

Yes, more games tested would be more exhaustive.
Is there any performance drop in games? Can you check fps both in games and animations/transitions?

I have done just this, but my video is 1.8GB upload is taking forever. Windows 8.1 looks and runs real nice on the unit. The default scaling fix it perfect.

Asphalt 8 runs surprising well, a few drops frames, I'll have a video of it in the Win 8 hands on video I'm uploading. I honestly expected it run be super laggy and choppy and 2560 x 1600.

I'm not sure if 30 minutes is enough, but a few races of Asphalt and no crashing either. I will test it some more.

What's the price for the Teclast X10HD 3G tablet?

WIFI performances
Is there any way to have some informations about the WIFI performances of this tablet, for example when close to a 802.11n (or 802.11ac) WIFI access point ?
I've got a Chuwi V89 Atom chinese Windows tablet and despite its 802.11n compatibility I can only reach 72mbps and about 4-5MB/sec while transfering files, and I'm considering changing it for a more performant tablet

[Q] Allwinner A10 Tablet

Hey hey
last week i bought a tab from china. Its a 7" Allwinner tablet... unfortunately it has no brand on it. so i tried to look it up in the internet (man there are creepy websites out there). anyway i couldnt figure out whats its brand.
My question is now: I want to run ICS on my Allwinner A10 running 2.3, its very similar to other tablets out there - and is there a way to flash ICS-rom from a diffrent device??? e.g. Aniol Novo 7A (its has pretty much the same specs).
Or should i wait for more firmware releases? Or one of u guys have an idea which rom fits to my tab? Its really confusing because there a lot of tabs with identical specs.
(btw i read the A10 allwinner cyanogenmod thread and i have not tried the rom because i wanted more information before flashing my tab)
thank you in advance.

I have a hkc m701, the same specs as yours but with 8gb. all the a10 processors can be upgraded to ics but its advisable to check the website of the producers of your tablet. Did you get an otg cable with your tablet? the one i received did nothing.
Findus,
I just got my hands on the "knight onion" tablet which has identical specs. It came with a build of ICS, but since it was made or compiled in china some of my licenses from the software I've already purchased doesn't work (Dice player for example).
In any case, If I can figure out how to get a recovery on here, I'd be more than happy to get you the backup to play with.
Maybe by editing the build properties we can fix it, who knows?

I have the Desiretab from lightinthebox mentioned in a earlier post here, and I have also been dumb enough to try to use one of the allwinner/boxchip a10 CM10 roms. Mine is now also stuck on the blue android logo and does not boot any further than that.
Luckily I can reboot it into recovery mode. I just need a working rom.
Any suggestions out there? I would like a Jelly Bean rom, since that was my whole goal. To upgrade from ICS.

Hey hey
last week i bought a tab from china.
(btw i read the A10 allwinner cyanogenmod thread and i have not tried the rom because i wanted more information before flashing my tab)

kevin,
I never heard of that model, but I have heard of the CPU. There are multiple manufacturers using that chip in tablets so I am going to direct you to another site that seems to have more info on that chip that may help you.
Goto http://www.freaktab.com - Just search for t RK2818, or checkout 'Finless Bobs' roms.
Good Luck

[Q] Custom ROM for Ramos X10F anyone?

Hello
I recently purchased a Ramos X10F on an impulse buy on a trip to the PP last month. I had been waiting longer than a year for an 8" 4:3 device that was not Apple with expandable memory and this one just made me succumb. Also I fell for the false data in marketing it as a cortex A9 and I thought a quad core A9 should be faster than my dual core A9 in the n7000. Actually it is a A5 or A7 (device details in cpuz mention some A7 blah).
The device has great potential to be an ipad mini killer as the hardware fit and finish is very good, the screen is IPS and it weighs only 360 grams. I can hold it in one had lying in bed without tiring myself. However performance is marred by the stock android 4.1.1. Intially I thought it was slow nand flash as when I enabled cpu stats, the nand-rw-flash process appeared to be the top process for a longish time, each time it stalled. However I later discovered, the device is very laggy when Wifi is on while actual WiFi throughput is very good - I get almost full speed 16mbs in the speedtest.net results. Unfortunately even with entropy seeder and a deadline or noop scheduler, the lagginess is only partially improved. Also the old linux/android decision of using input to randomize and seed the entropy is only good for desktops not servers or touchpads. I have to tap a few times to get a app screen to respond inexplicably and suddenly and it shows that the OS was waiting on input. The device is best for streaming as typically once the app is opened I never have a problem with lag a it is typically 30 mins of iewing before switching apps. Otherwise the poor performance means a task that should take normal time (like reading news in the morning for 15 mins) takes more than twice the time as I have to struggle with the slow app launches and screen loading mostly. But if Wifi is switched off and content is cached, everything is smooth and much better. Battery life is decent with display brightness set around or below 10% typically.
So my recommendation for a new buyer is - dont buy until a custom ROM is made available. Dont fall for the x10pro video on the utube yet. Real world performance is not the same. Once the smoothness of the 4.4.3 is acheived it will be a killer product.
I would like to upgrade the android from its 4.1.1 to a 4.4.x version. Also this version is vulnerable to heartbleed and the openssl bug that came after that in June 2014. The omnirom 4.4.3 on my n7000 is really smooth and I am hoping somebody will develop a custom rom for this device.
But I dont see a custom ROM or CWM for this anywhere. I installed a CWM recovery for another ATM7029 device (yarvik) and it boots, but I forgot about the display driver compatibility and I can no longer view the menu in recovery mode. Otherwise rooted it and running ok.
The specifications of the device are as follows:
OS: Android 4.1.1
CPU: Quad Core ATM7029
GPU: Vivante GC1000
RAM 1GB,DDR3 --> False. Real RAM is 686MB.
Storage 8GB
Screen: Capacitive Touchscreen, 1024*768 Full resolution Screen
Size: 7.85 inch
Resolution: 1024*768 Pixels
Flash: Support Flash 11.0 and HTML 5
Extend Card Support TF card up to 32GB extended
Camera Dual Camera Front 2.0M,Back 5.0M
Gravity Sensor Yes
Multi-Touch Yes, 5 points touch
Android Market Yes
Skype Yes
Email and Browser: Yes, built in
WIFI: Yes, 802.11 b/g/n
3G : support external 3G dongle
OTG Function: Support USB Mouse,Keyboard (2.4GHz)
Support:FAT,FAT32,NTFS
Earphone Interface 3.5mm
Soft:Support TXT,Adobe PDF,Microsoft Office(Word,Excel,PPT)
Video 1080P, AVI/MOV/MP4/RMVB/FLV/MKV…
Music MP3/WMA/WAV/APE/AAC/FLAC/OGG
Ebook UMD, TXT, PDF, HTML, RTF, FB2…
Battery: 4000mAh
What do I need to submit for a developer to build a custom rom for this device? Some kind of dump? ALso need a recovery manager with the right display driver. Either TWRP or CWM.
I hope a developer will volunteer.
Thanks

[Completed] What model Asus is this? Any roms for this overseas rebranded device?

UPDATE - CPUz app said it was a dual core ARM CORTEX-A9 1.5 GHz, revision r3p0
Galaxy tab 3 has the same processor
Asus memo pad has it, but 4 core
Hello all,
I was in thailand and my phone died so I got a cheap $45 tablet to use whatsapp to talk to family and friends. I read asus makes the devices - I'm assuming that someone made this tablet for the company that sold it and that it's a little better than a cheap Chinese tablet quality bc it has had no issues and seems pretty good and was offered by a respected phone company over there. I wanted to upgrade to a newer Rom >4.2, now that I am back in the states.
1.) I had an adnroid stick PC and it seemed like the sticks where all the same chipset and then had roms you could load on them regardless of their brand. Are there universal roms I could look into.
2.) I'm not sure how hard it would be to make a CM rom for this device , but I did see that they have a link to create a build.
I'm going to try one-click, Kingo root, king root, etc to see if I can unlock it so I can turn off the telephony.apk and phone.apk since this one did not have a sim card and was wifi only. The manuf didn't delete those apps so they keep draining the battery looking for service.
Your help is appreciated and thanks in advance!
