Hi there,
I am working through the Guide to Unlocking your Sensation and the link to recovery v5.0.0.8 for the Sensation is not working.
Is there another place I can download the file?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Lizzie.
Edit:
Looks like someone updated the MultiUpload Link. Thanks guys!
You may download it from here: http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/ Just search for ....pyramid.img and flash from fastboot.
But I suggest you to get the latest v 5.0.2.0. Works fine in every aspect.
New CWM Version?

How do I update to the new version? Will it affect the back-up files that I have already made?
Sorry if the questions seem silly.
I'm still trying to get the hang of all this!

Open up rom manager and hit the first option...it will flash to the latest CWM recovery. Your old bckups will still work.

Make sure you are connected to the internet via mobile or wifi. Then go to Rom manager. Open the app and press Flash ClockworkMod recovery and the bottom should list your old one and the phone will flash the new one automagically
now if i try unlock bootloader with htc dev method
fastboot oem get_identifier_token ---> [ERR] command errror !!!
Edit : WrongForum ....
may i ask how to flash the .img file?
I'm using the guide to S-OFF etc...
It states to use recovery v5.0.0.8.
A file called PG58IMG, I cant find this, I've S-OFF'd and I'm looking to update and then use recovery.
What's the best file? Does it need to be the Zip file?

I have uploaded CWM 5.0.2.0 here: http://www.axifile.com/en/EC384AC809
MD5: 85b5f10c9afe33fb50396bd5f54bc7de
I just flashed it on my phone and it seemed to work fine, I was on 5.0.2.0 and still am ;-)
I uploaded and downloaded it and it's the same MD5 as the one on my phone that worked.
Just rename to PG58IMG.zip boot up from scratch (Power and Vol -), vol + to flash. When it wants to reboot after flashing pop the SD-card out and rename it after booting.
I came across this, it might be abit outdated but I'm guessing it'll work fine.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17173579&postcount=86
I've put it into my root on my SD card, and updated it.
I'll do recovery now.

Well you're winning, from zero to two versions to pick from now ;-))

I've flashed the ROM, just rebooted... I'm guessing the first boot will take awhile.
Will all my data be on the phone?
I guess by checking System settings etc I can see if it's worked.
....I remember how frustrated I was when I found out that there were no working links anywhere. But, maybe I just didn't know how to search.

If you're changing ROMs did you Superwipe before flashing?
If you Superwipe all data/apps on the phone will be zapped, the SD card should remain intact.

Erm, I've only gone from stock to ARHD 4.1.13 so far...
All I did was S-OFF, CWM Recovery and flash the ROM on.
I haven't done anything else yet.
All my apps and data on my SD card are fine atm.
I do want to flash an ICS ROM onto my phone, I'll be following this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767

Yes, that was my exact feeling. I mean if you get a brand new £250 phone, then your not going to mess around with it, are you? No. You are going to try and get the prefect amount of information and clarity so you know you won't mess up.

In the ARHD (mike's) thread there is a SuperWipe script in the downloads. Use that when changing between ROM flavours, or if recommended by the dev when changing versions. E.g., VI from 2.0.0 -> 3.0.0 required a SuperWipe.
MAKE sure you take regular Nandroid backups before/after you changing anything.

That's precisely it, I've had my Sensation for a while now and want to get the full user-experience from it. I know it is irritating for you guys to have to answer the same Q&A's over and over again, I did try reading everything but with so many answers and so many flavours it's a bit overwhelming.
I might write a guide from a noobs perspective (for noobs) on what to do...

Oh right ok, well I've been advised to change my recovery to EXT4, which I'll do tomorrow. Nandroid backups, is that when I go into HBOOT and choose Recovery? That's a good idea. So when I do go to update my ROM to ARHD 6.xxx for ICS I'll use Superwipe to clear out my app etc... So by using recovery I'll keep my app data/saves etc?
Root fail
I do evrything but when i get to bootloader he starts to read fails from sd card and then says phrasing****** and then nothing. How to root
Hey all, sorry if this seems like other questions being posted, but I can not get my phone to work even after attempting the other fixes posted on the forums. I rooted my phone and was running the stock rom that came preloaded with it. I attempted to install CM10 through Rom Manager to no success, so I then tried to manually flash it as well as Gapps. My phone initially got stuck at the CM10 bootloader, but i could still go into CWM Recovery 5.8.3.1. After trying to get the rom to work more, it seems as if all I can access is CWM Recovery and nothing else. My phone wont even boot into the bootloader anymore and all i have access to is CWM Recovery.
I am not the most tech savvy individual when it comes to this since it has been ages since i tinkered with roms, but I would really like to fix this. So heres the facts since my post is so long (sorry!):
-Phone WILL NOT go into bootloader
-Can ONLY ACCESS ClockworkMod Recovery (5.8.3.1)
-SD Card wont mount (I get error "E:Unable to open ums lunfile (No such file or directory)")
I really just want to go back to stock and root again from scratch to reduce any errors like this from occurring in the future and ANY help would be appreciated because I am totally lost and without a phone now. To make things even more difficult, I only have access to a Mac running Lion....although i do have Windows 8 through the use of a bootcamp program, so I CAN run windows programs. Thank you all for any information you may have!

Well since you in bootloader flash TWRP and then boot.img and then reflash the rom just to make sure.

Sorry. Best would be the All-In-One Toolkit, TWRP is a recovery to replace CWM because its that what's messing you up and also TWRP is better. Toolkit will also flash the boot.img too.

And on a side note; my phone says S-ON...I thought when rooted it was supposed to be S-OFF. Could that be causing problems as well?

Boot.img is in the rom zip. S-On is not the reason its CWM thats messing you up with getting into the bootloader but also not flashing boot.img is not helping too.

Np but this time use TWRP as your recovery and once you up and running with CM10 you can use Flash Image GUI to flash the boot.img if you ever update the rom.
Hello.
I'm coming from HD2 and Sensation recently and wanted to get a custom rom for my new One S. I'm inexperienced with this model.
I followed the unlock / cwm / root procedure in the excellent guide sticky. Everything went very well and I tried Jellybam. Got the boot anim but no full boot. I forgot to back up the stock rom so there I was with no working rom and no way to copy a new one onto the sdcard partition.
After some research I've been able to push new rom files to the sdcard partition through adb but I can't seem to get anything to boot on this thing.
I also tried relocking but I cant find which RUU to match my CID (HTC__Y13), I tried all the EU RUU's but they all give me the signature error upon flashing.
So I'm not bricked, I can still install different recoveries and use fastboot. It's just that nothing boots. What am I missing out on here? Oh, and QuickADB tells me that I am not rooted and busybox is missing although I've ran SuperSU CWM.
Any thoughts?
QuickADBPusher is unable to acquire root because you are on stock rom/kernel. The Q&A section tells you that
Have to fastboot flashed boot.img? Its required for hboot above.... urm.. Dunno, but 1.14 needs it anyway.

I now tried to follow the instructions for flashing custom rom on HBOOT > 1.09. So I extracted the boot.img from my desired ROM package. Then I went for another adb push of the rom file (I had done a clear memory in the meantime) and now I'm getting protocol error all over the place.
I miss my HD2. I even miss my Pyramid now...
EDIT: The boot.img flashed fine though.
Wait wait! It worked!
Finally got MIUI (my secret lover) pushed and boot.img extracted and flashed.... and voila!!
Goatshocker! Major respect and bigups for your little advice for the n00bs but first and foremost for all the work you do for our community. You rock man.
Oh thanks. I dont think I do that much though but I try to help where I can

It's always those little things that pass us by.
Hope this thread can help other EU users though. Many of the posts on One S kind of imply that your'e on a low hboot. (Other markets, branded and so forth) But the phones we get these days up here are unbranded 2.15 by stock and you'd always have to manually flash boot as I understand.
Hopefully theres enough food in here for the search engines so that others might find it. Ah. A great day after all.

If you've unlocked the bootloader you can't do any of that other stuff. You need to fastboot flash a recovery.img. Then flash a ROM from there. Instructions in the Ace Think Tank in the Desire HD General section. Note that the DHD and the I4G are essentially the same phone and have the same rooting instructions, and they can use each others' ROMs.

oh really? I thought i had to first unlock the bootloader to root the phone or is that to jus use a custom rom? i can relock like i did earlier. is that what i need to do? Yes i realize the Desire HD/Inspire 4G same phone. was waiting for ICS and than HTC said too bad.So do you recommend i lock the bootloader back up? I'm new today here. wondering if i posted in right category after i posted. i see a development one to..
There are two ways to root and flash a custom ROM. One is S-Off. The other is unlocking the bootloader. S-off's tool has been retired, so you can only do it manually. You can still root and flash custom ROMs with an unlocked bootloader, though.

I went to this think tank link below like you mentioned and flashed the recovery. i even flashed a XGS Rom from sdcard.phone is booting up or its stuck on the white screen still but it installed. On #6 i got an error but the install went thru.might have to pull battery and restart it i think.this procedure didnt root my phone right? My phone stuck on the white screen.Might have to redo but like the 4ext recovery. Thanks for the great info!

What's an XGS ROM? You're hanging on the boot splash because #6 had an error. Fastboot flashing the ROM zip's boot.img is essential because you are S-On.

I respect existz too much to use a downstream ROM. Yes, my phone is rooted. But all custom ROMs are rooted, so with XGS you probably are rooted as well.

Like I said earlier, there are two ways you can root and flash custom ROMs, S-On with unlocked bootloader and S-Off, and you can't have both. If you want S-Off, you would need to relock. And since AAHK (the S-Off tool) is retired, you can only manually S-Off now (which is something I would only recommend for advanced users). Using outdated tools, like AAHK and SuperOneClick, can get you in very bad predicaments very quickly (and I should note that you will probably not find support for those cases). You can look into other ROMs though, and note that the Inspire 4G and the Desire HD are basically the same phone and can use each others' ROMs. Since you are now rooted and can flash custom ROMs through recovery anyway, I would strongly advise that you stick to flashing ROMs now and not try to get S-Off.
LTE is a hardware issue. I4G and DHD don't support it.

I have Jailbroke countless iPhones with ease but rooting is so much more complicated to me. Does anyone have any info to help me out? Links? Step-by-step instructions? ANYTHING would be greatly appreciated!

I don't know if I have tried the Ace Think Tank. I have managed to Unlock my Bootloader and download CWM. Through CWM I downloaded and installed this ROM. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1810461
But its NOT ICS which is what I'm wanting to do.
As for the methods I have tried they are:
Ace Advanced Hack Kit
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2377905
Poot
And a few more I am unable to think of.
It took me forever just to learn how to install CWM but through Ace Hack Kit I was able to by going into options.
I've also had the issue of my computer not reading my phone while it was in HBoot mode or recovery mode.
So thats where I am now and I now I am trying to upgrade to ICS.
Darn I'm rusty. Do you have whatchamacallit installed on your computer? Adb.... Phew, took me a bit to remember that

Okay, you need some clarification.
AAHK1 is retired and unsupported. It won't work for you without some fiddling. It's used to get S-Off. Since you already unlocked your bootloader, you don't need it to flash a custom ROM.
The stock firmware you tried to flash won't be ICS. DHD stock firmware ends with GB.
The custom ROM you tried to flash (as well as any other custom ROM) requires that you: 1. flash it in CWM. 2. fastboot flash the boot.img in the ROM zip.

Okay so now I understand why AAHK1 is not working for me. I did not realize that it was unsupported. Also, the only reason I flashed the DHD stock firmware is just to get my phone rooted since I was unable to figure it out myself. Do you know of a ROM that has ICS that I can flash or do I have to install the original stock ROM without it being rooted then root it myself and install another ROM that has ICS?
I've learned how to flash a custom ROM. I have CWM downloaded thanks to youtube and the video also showed me how to flash a ROM. So I am able to do that.
You don't need root to flash a ROM, just an unlocked or S-Off bootloader. You have an unlocked one, so that works. Flash a ROM from CWM, then fastboot flash the boot.img in the ROM zip. The Ace Think Tank thread has links for that.
