Returning to stock issues (Cannot Generate Image?) - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I've noticed every time I try return back to stock using the factory image and running Flashall.bat that everything flashes fine until the last part where it says cannot generate image, failed <>, I'm assuming it’s because there's not enough space? As it states that in the command prompt screen. (Please see image attached). I have always returned to stock this way and have never seen this issue before, can anyone shed some light on this?

Is the data partition. What happens when you boot up? What does the storage menu show? Anything odd?

No it boots fine and storage looks good as well, but I've noticed that it gets really laggy sometimes and have had to do a forced reboot to sort a few system locks. I was putting th issues down to the supposed memory leaks that are still happening?

Odd then. Maybe just an issue with factory zip. Some of them just don't work for some people. I always prefer to individually flash images using fastboot.
As for this memory leak, I've never had it. I've never even seen any evidence to suggest such a bug exists except for people saying they have a memory leak.

32GB Nexus 5 says I have 12.58GB

EDIT: ***BEEN RESOLVED AND ANSWERED***
Not sure if this is an RMA error. I did just notice this since I was using this new device for about a week since I got my my OnePlus One in early August.
I just recently decided to revisit my Google Nexus 5 (no nothing is wrong with my OnePlus One) since Android L is about to drop officially. Been using it for about 4 or 5 days straight again.
I did go through a VERY annoying RMA process. I finally got one that looked fine but never checked the storage. Is there a way I can confirm that it is indeed a 32GB?
Is it possible for the 32GB Nexus to somehow give me 12.58GB Of free space?
I am kinda pissed off Google's Support team made this error.
Here's the picture.

Its quite common for 32 GB devices to think they're 16 GB devices like yours does. If you search, there's loads of answered threads about it and how to fix.

Reboot to fastboot. It should show the storage. Check the phone box, it should be printed on it.
Dial *#06# replace the x with your imei http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=xxxxxxxxxxx paste the suffix part here and I can tell which model you have.

I cant really remember how to solve your issue. Maybe the fastboot format data command would do the job. Warning you will lose all your data. Oh and try to not use cwm recovery it can cause problems like that you have now.

I use TWRP. But yah I looked it up and NOW I found it that 32GB can be seen as a 16GB. -_-
I searched earlier. They do recommend doing a full on fastboot erase.
Yes I am aware of what fastboot erase <inserthere> does.
Thanks for helping me figure out it truly is a 32GB. Thanks well earned!

systemui has stopped

Hi, hope someone can assist.
My wife's changed the wallpaper on her M2 earlier. It caused the systemui to force close, and has gone in to an endless loop of force closing.
It won't connect to the Sony Companion app, and USB debugging is not enabled so I can't adb.
The phone is completely stock, not rooted, locked bootloader, no custom recovery etc.
The only thing I can do is power and volume up to reboot. It still misbehaves in Safe Mode.
Any idea how I can sort this? Preferably without losing data.
I don't have any experience with Sony devices, not even sure how to boot to the bootloader
Thanks.
Fc of wallpaper change?!
Can you change it?
Try repair with pc companion or flash ftf with Flashtool in both ways you loose data.
Good luck.

Yeah, thanks mate, sorted it last night. I ended up flashing with Flashtool.
It was weird - I think she somehow interrupted the process when it was changing.
The bootloader set up is weird on this phone - hold volume down with the phone off and plug in for fastboot?! No image to tell you you're in the bootloader/fastboot?!
I think next time she gets a new one I'll make her get a Nexus!
Glad you sorted out. You only got blue led to know your in bootloader and that's it. ? Now it won't be that hard to convince her to get Nexus
All the Best

I know but...
I know it's solved but when you flash untick the data and cache and it'll stay the same letting all your data intact (well if you have root explorer you'll know they're the different folder /ext, /system, and ext. and all it does it not reset the /data BUT, games may reply on android ID so you may lose data on some things.

Tab 2 Problems(Need help ASAP)

So my friend gave me his Tab 2 7.0(P3100) for me to check out since it has problems to see if I can fix it.
And I checked it out and here are the problems:
The tablet constantly crashes. TouchWiz ran for a few seconds(Very laggy) before it reboots and it repeats again.
You may though factory reset would do the job.
However I tried to factory reset via the recovery. The recovery shows something unusual as seen below:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So when I wipe data/factory reset, the recovery goes through the process as normal. But once it reboots, it does NOTHING AT ALL!
Then I reboot into safe mode and tried to factory reset in the settings. Once I went to backup and reset and tap the delete everything, nothing happens even after I tap the delete everything multiple times.
Oh, the thing also crashed in safe mode. It ran longer than the normal mode though.
I was unable to factory reset the thing.
However there is another weird problem. When I set a setting like connecting to a wifi network, uninstalling an app and changing brightness, after it reboots, all the settings I applied are reverted. So the wifi network is forgotten, the app I uninstalled is back and the brightness was set back to what it used to be.
I worked with multiple devices in the past and I've never seen anything like this.
Have anyone encountered a problem like this. And please give any solutions if you do.
I do have a feeling the problem is not normal but you can help out.
I need to return the tablet the next day after posting this thread so any help is appreciated.
Thanks for your time.
UPDATE
I tried reflashing the firmware using ODIN and this happened
And you thought when it fails halfway especially when the system.img is flashing would brick the thing.
It doesn't. The tablet still reboots and same thing happens over and over again....
I tried flashing the same thing again but still the same results.
Probably eMMC was set to read-only memory.

how can i fix it ?
Probably bad flash/ota. Happened too me as well. I had to reset to stock and reflash via Odin. Make full backup of your device, then try to get back to stock.

can you please describe little bit more ...
you mean i could wipe data with twrp recovery mode ?
or should use odin to install the same firmware again or what ?
What? No. Didn't say anywhere to root. Get to bootloader, use odin and flash original samsung system.
How to make full backup of the device if u arent rooted??
Don't root and fiddle around if you don't know what your doing. Or at least get enough information about what your doing before doing it.
this happened to me after flashing stock FW with odin and then flashing custom recovery without first letting the phone to boot.
After flashing CSC, the phone needs to go to revocery and finish the flashing process (copy CSC files to system). If you flash custom rom, it might not be able to flash the zip and therefore you have no CSC and get weird settings.
I was able to flash the zip with custom recovery by remounting system as read-write first.

Sounds to me, like part of the storage may have suddenly failed or been damaged, causing your device to lock up and after a reboot, triggering this unusual state. Part of the bootloader is likely not getting read or written to properly, so installing fails only after partially writing to the device, and it refuses to boot. You could try a repartition and complete installation - that might also make it worse though. I've seen the blue screen of mild annoyance many times - not sure about the falling android, was there any text? If so, what did it say? The firmware does contain screens for various diffrent panic states, resembling the one you mentioned. I would encourage you to do some more research on those and look for patterns in the way it fails - or doesn't - when flashing other parts of the firmware package. Don't even bother with SmartSwitch - in my experience, it fails at anything the errors tell you to use it for. Also, simple issues like a faulty cable or the wrong firmware can often be overlooked - so make sure those are fine before starting to experiment.
