[MOD][THEME][G2][CLOUDY G2.2 & G3 2.1][DEODEXED] Cobalt (+ Giga) icons / UI theme - G2 Themes and Apps

UPDATED!
CLOUDY G2 2.2 & G3 2.1 - MOD for Cobalt (+some Gigamatrix) icons & UI theme- See screenshots
CREDITS TO ICON CREATORS!!! THANKS!!
PS: If you did create the icons and don't want them released in this MOD please let me know.
WORKS WITH CLOUDY G2 2.2
I said DEODEXED, and I repeat it. I don't know if this works on ODEX ROM, but it should (now you flash entire apks, not just patch them). Let me know if it does, only test after full nandroid backup.

PLEASE READ EVERYTHING; AND I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOSS OF PHONE, FUNCTIONALITY, DATA, STRESS, ETC
Tested:
This should work on Dalvik and ART and ODEXED ROMs.
- D802 cloudy G3 2.1 Deodexed ART with and without 3minit MOD
- LS980: seems to create an nfc error
Please let me know if you test on other configurations, including odex ROM.
I have serious doubts it would work on verizon phones, depends on how Cloudy G3 works on those.
3minit battery mod for Cloudy G3:

credits @vPro97
NOTE on 3minit MOD: if you want 3minit MOD, then first install that, if you apply 3minit AFTER applying my MOD you will lose some aspects of it.
Notes:
- Battery icon in screenshots is from 3minit
- Most icons are Cobalt. I also used some status bar icons from Gigamatrix (either because they are nicer or Cobalt was not themed), etc.
- The status bar icons have been resized from G3 to fit, others have not, and I like the very large quicksettings icons!
- T-action is not themed, i Just replaced the blue button with something that doesn't clash as much.
- some UI icons in settings might no be themed in "tab mode"
Instructions:
1. Either make a full nandroid backup (recommended if you are testing on an ODEX ROM), or follow these instructions for creating a quick flashable recovery file.
Backup the following files with ZIPme: (Make sure you backup the odex files too if you are testing this on an odex ROM!
system/app/LGEasySettings.apk & LGNfc.apk
system/framwork/framework-res.apk & lge-res.apk
system/priv-app/LGContacts.apk & LGInCallUI.apk & LGSettings.apk & LGSystemUI.apk
2. Download flashable zips (see Download section below)
4. Reboot to recovery
5a. If you DON'T have E 3minit: Flash "Flash-CloudyG3-Cobalt-Theme-FULL files.zip" first, if you want the light blue clock on the left then also flash "Flash-CloudyG3-ClockBlueLeft-stock.zip" second (this last flashable zip is only a patch to LGSystemUI.apk, it might not work for ODEX ROMs).
5b. If you HAVE 3minit: Flash "Flash-CloudyG3-Cobalt-3minit-FULL files.zip" first, if you want the light blue clock on the left then also flash "Flash-CloudyG3-ClockBlueLeft-3minit.zip" second (this last flashable zip is only a patch to LGSystemUI.apk, it might not work for ODEX ROMs).
6. Reboot to system
Downloads:
Flash-CloudyG3-Cobalt-Theme-FULL files.zip
Flash-CloudyG3-Cobalt-3minit-FULL files.zip
Flash-CloudyG3-ClockBlueLeft-3minit.zip
Flash-CloudyG3-ClockBlueLeft-stock.zip
Restore:
If you have followed this link instructions to create a recovery file BEFORE applying these MODs, then simply reboot to recovery and flash your recovery file.
If you also installed 3minit MOD please follow the 3minit MOD removal instructions (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/themes-apps/3minit-battery-mod-cloudyg3-2-1-t2962454).

By experience, this should also work on ODEX roms. Great job mate, that's a wonderful contribution.

Thanks, trying to catch up with you.
But this flashable ZIP only contains replacement image files and patches the apks, so not sure if it would work on Odex.

Oh! I think the best you can do (if it doesn't work for ODEX) is to provide a LGsystemui.apk that's already Deodexed and contains your changes. People will end up with a Deodexed systemui but if it's zipaligned they won't notice a decrease in performance at all.

8 files are modded. Should be zipaligned.
Edit: i just created zip files that contain the entire apks, should now work on odex too.

Sorry to hear that.
Which model do you have?
The only thing I can think of is that your nfc.apk is different for some reason.
Option 1:
1. Boot to recovery and wipe dalvik+cache.
2. See if that works.
Option 2:
1. Revert to your original files
2. Boot to recovery and flash the non-full version:

Let me know if the problem persists.

I'm on the ls980. I just did a clean install and will try the full again and if that doesn't work I'll try the non-full version. I had xposed and other stuff installed, so I'm trying it without the other tweaks to see if that's what's causing the problem.

Ok the link you posted worked but I don't have everything themed. Battery and signal are still white and the left side of the status bar is stock also.

@bloof Is there a way you can create a full theme that takes out the nfc.apk or whatever it was that caused the nfc chaos on my ls980? I'm a huge fan of the Cobalt theme and would love to have everything themed with it. Hope I'm not sounding too pushy.

Thanks for testing. Don't have an ls980 so can't find out what to change.
For removing the nfc.apk it is really easy, just unzip the full flashable zip, delete nfc.apk folder and re-zip, you're good for re-flashing.

Did you manage to make it work? The only difference will be the NFC icon in status bar will be missing.
For other status bar notification icons, the ones on the left will always be stock as they are contained within the apps themselves. Only exceptions are system status icons (adb, usb, etc).

Had an early night last night. I'm gonna try it in the next few minutes and I'll share the results.
Update: SUCCESS!! After removing the nfc.apk I'm seeing the full theme.

YES! Just tested on G2 2.2 Dalvik deodexed.
All relevant apks have the same MD5 in 2.2 and 2.1, so works just as before.

@bloof How can I make this theme work with Cloudy G3 3.3? Are you able to do so if its beyond basic knowledge?

Sorry, my G2 bricked 2 weeks ago, (full brick, no response).
But there is a cobalt module in xposed i think.

Ok I'll give that a try. Also, see if reseating your sim card and then holding the power button for about 10 seconds will make it boot up. I had that happen to me about the same time as yours and that did the trick for me.

Circle/custom battery, custom smileys, custom bootanimation for DHD 1.32/1.72

Hi friends,
If you want to have nice custom batteries as they are seen below - or smileys or bootanimation -:
First pull the framework-res.apk from /system/framework/ (only for custom battery icons)
there are two ways, you can find them here:
http://circle.glx.nl/how_to/
than:
1. Open http://circle.glx.nl/
2. Choose version. There are 4 options today (22/11/10):
a)SCB with %, Version [A-I] (you can choose whole themes)
b)SCB with %, Version Z, Custom type, colors (you costumize what you want to get)
c)Flashable zip only (if you have the framework-res.apk what you want to flash)
d)No battery, theme only
3. Choose or make your battery icons. (only a,b,c)
4. Decide if you want emoticons. Status bar icons doesn't work with DHD.
a)Do not include icons - No emoticons and status bar icons
b)Themed icons sets - You choose wich pack you like
c)Custom uni-color icons - You choose a color, and you get the status bar icons in this color
5. If you chose b or c, than you make your icons.
in b) you need to check the "include icons" to have them. To choose use the "preview" link.
in c) you choose color and generate the icons
6. You just click next, as the Status bar notification editing is only for the Desire.
7. If you want to have a new boot animation
a) find the place of your current bootanimation.zip (you can do it in your ROM's zip, for ex.)
b) Select place for bootanimation
c) select desired animation
8. Set Select ROM you use to Desire HD ROM, then next.
9. Choose your framework-res.apk, click next.
It will upload it and generate the flashable zip file.
10. Click download.
11. Boot into recovery.
12. Make a backup!!!
13. Flash the zip you downloaded.
14. Reboot.
15. Enjoy it
If you want to change a CM7 battery, than you should see this thread:

Cool - thanks for that - it's a bit handier having a detailed description of battery remaining.
Did you try any status bar mods at all? Do they definitely not work?

few app has an .odex file and an .apk
the de-odexed ROMs don't have the .odex files
if you take a look at Pay's ROM or LeeDroid's ROM, you'll find something like this:
-Full De-odexed
in the features.
Make a backup, flash a deodexed ROM and flash the custom battery and smileys
It's not possible to de-odexed the default rom ?
framework-res doesn't have a .odex file. I believe this is because HTC allow us to download skins from their website and they overwrite files in the framework-res.apk
Are you making sure to select Desire HD rom in the kitchen?
Yeah absolute i make the procedure twice
as I know deodexing is a requisit for theming
and of course it is possible to deodex a stock ROM, but believe me, the guys with the custom ROMs make a lot of tweakes what you shouldn't miss : )

Download Theme for 3/26/11 Here!!!
thoughtlesskyle said:
this is based off the newest aospGBmod posted early this morning i will likely be making new versions of this till he posts a deodex'd version:
This is a Full ROM (not just an Update or Theme)
-you MUST do a clean install (since the build is odex'd failure to do a complete wipe will cause problems)
features,
- twopointthree theme (minus the themed desk clock the stock ones still works though)
- a lot of bloat removed
-stock launcher2
-notification tray toggle switches are removed
-added back the stock (themed) music.apk
things i have taken out
-pacman.apk (used for installing commonly downloaded items from the market on the markets first use)
-livewallpaperpicker - i dont use live wallpapers so it just took up space for me (i will likely make a flashable zip to put them back in for people who want them)
-adwlauncher (the market one is better atm anyway)
-cm wallpapers
-home screen tips
-probably a few other things
download here
THIS ROM IS AOSP'S WORK, I SIMPLY THEMED IT AND REMOVED THINGS FROM IT!
this is a screenie of the twopointthree theme since i cant get drocap to work (you will not have the homescreen tips)

can i get a update zip for just the signal bars
Won't work that way

Wow I was just thinking, "wouldn't it be great if he made a new twopointthree for aospGBmod 0.2"
And so I check XDA forums and BANG here it is.
Thanks a million. I will use it religiously.
Glad to see you're still working on your themes for GB, downloading now
Ok, I can't download it stupid 4shared keeps quiting download right away and I only get 100KB of it... Anyone else having problems? I'm doing this on a computer not my phone (which gives me the same damn problems)
updated the first post, now that i have a ROM to build off of i should be able to RLS mostly updates for a while.
in order to use the update, starting from scratch
-nandroid
-install the ROM
-install your Gapps
-boot go through startup wizard (or just boot up if not using the wizard)
-then flash the update
if already using the ROM
-make a nandroid
-flash the update
enjoy guys! its bed time for me again
Please, I wouldn't normally ask this, but could you re-upload to somewhere besides 4shared? I cant download the ROM.
Great job Kyle! Looks awesome as usual my man. As soon as aosp gets Bluetooth and GPS working I'll be on the 2.3 bandwagon
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
I've gotta say I am not a fan of clockworkmod v3.0.0.5. It wil not let me install scripts like this update. Going back to Darchs RA recovery image!

the signal bars are in the systemUI folder
the volume up and down are controlled by an xml in the framework-res
since the stock ROM is odex'd you cant just flash this over top of it hence why you cant just have the signal bars, i am getting around it because i have modified the ROM so i can get in and tamper with it without causing an issue
ur good at theming, is everything i need to theme besides apps in the framework folder? or is it just framework.apk an stuff that has .jar have nothing to do with themeing

Basically, what we have here is a bunch of system files from Numa vB.2, re-odexed for those on Stock ODEXED AT&T ICS (or StockyEd).
What's included?:
-1% battery increments
-toggles at bottom of pulldown shade
-Blackberry 10 lockscreen mod
-Windows Phone 7 style Recent apps screen mod
-tap menu key to open lockscreen
-unplug usb turns screen on
-supercharger-patched services.jar
-jb framework animations
-maybe others..(?)
(Please note that I was only going for the 1% batt, toggles, and lockscreen separately, but they are all tied together - give me some time to split them up and make them more stock-esque)
DOWNLOAD HERE
-Make a backup first!! (In case you want to go back)
-Wipe dalvik cache and cache
-Install zip from sdcard
Files that will be changed:
SystemUI.apk
SystemUI.odex
framework-res.apk
android.policy.odex
framework-ext.odex
services.odex
I know, it was kind of a lazy route (just grabbing the files from Numa), and backwards compared with the original metamorphosis of the Stock Monster into Romulus, and later Remus.. but, I was just glad to have finally figured out the re-odexing thing... again.
Old OP:
***PROJECT MOVED TO ROMULUS***
Links are still up and there is some good info buried in this post, so I will leave everything here for the time being.
NOTICE: THIS MOD PACKAGE DOES NOT WORK ON SOME INTERNATIONAL VERSIONS OF THE ATRIX 2 (POSSIBLY DUE TO MIS-MATCHES IN THE FRAMEWORK FILES - TRY ROMULUS INSTEAD, IT WILL REPLACE YOUR ENTIRE FRAMEWORK)
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-
Origins of The Stock Monster:
This started out as a small personal project, then quickly grew out of my hands and formed a life of it's own... So, I decided it was time to release it out into the wild...
Theatrics aside... the truth is that basically, until now, there were no cool features like pulldown toggles, 1% batteries, reboot options, or any theme changes available to stock odexed rooted A2 users - those things only came with deodexed custom roms and mods for deodexed systems only (frankly, because it's a lot easier to mod a deodexed rom, and it makes updates simpler). But, I like a challenge (no offense or jabs at the great ROM builders we have got for the A2 - my hat's off to them - it is seriously amazing and hard work that these guys are putting into their creations)... Also, I tend to go more with the theory of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" - meaning that Android odexes the system for a reason - not sure if it's to hide away them there smali files to make it more difficult for people like us to mess with their stuff, or if it is truly for performance purposes only.
Nonetheless, I offer odexed users "The Stock Monster"...
MODS included:
~vertical battery w/ 1% increments
~quick-panel (dropdown) toggles
~reboot option in power menu
~carrier name removed
~menu button unlocks screen
~unplug turns on screen
~HSPA data distinguishable (?able)
~lightly themed (black, grey & stock)
~possibly more to come...
NOTE: This is based on Stock Odexed US AT&T MB865 2.3.6, and will probably not work on any other builds.
All mods/themes here were done by me, except: the 1% batt and quick-panel toggles - those I basically ported from the stuff I put together for VictoryROM (1% batt originally from JRW 28's set, I think - still not sure who to credit for all of the xml/smali edits on those; quick-panel toggles originally from SC rom maybe (?), icons are MIUI, I believe - had to GIMP a couple of the "-ing" images though)
Big thanks to all the devs/builders/themers/modders and otherwise helpful folks here on xda.
Feel free to PM me with any specific questions about these mods, I'd be happy to share what I have learned in the process.

This is still a work in progress... I plan on updating this post as I go along modding/themeing my (currently) odexed phone.
Extras:
See this post for the rotating/landscape homescreen mod and removal zip (make sure you download the proper ODEXED packages).
***EDIT (5/11/12 early AM)*** Now things are getting interesting...
Though I've read plenty of "TUT's" and "HOW-TO's" on the whole deodexing, modding, then re-odexing thing (all of which helped, no doubt), and tried many different methods, approaches, and random pot-shots... it all finally came together and made sense after I found a link to this tutorial. Ironically, I was not researching default orientations, and I kind of skillfully winged it a bit.. but it worked well in the end. If anyone is interested in pursuing modding odexed files (it's not necessary to deodex for most themeing), you'll need the attached dexopt-wrapper file (unzip the zip first) on your phone in /system/bin with 755 permissions:
X....X
X....X
***EDIT (5/12/12 - v1.0)
Included homescreen rotation mod, and more unified black/grey theme (i.e. the "notifications" bar in the dropdown, pop-up headers, and re-did the shade handle, etc). I'll get back to working on the pulldown toggles soon..
***EDIT (5/13/12 early AM again - v2.0)
Got them dropdown toggles in there , and, by chance, I stumbled across and enabled HSPA data recognition, so maybe you can see an H+ icon now (?? - modded, but not verified).
Note: To actually enable HSPA data and get speed increases (I just flipped a switch in the SystemUI.apk to make it "distinguishable"), you will need to add or edit the following lines in your build.prop file:
ro.ril.hsxpa=2
thank you. i hope you keep going with this.

Nice! Was it tough porting the dropdown toggles?
Updated OP with 1% battery & reboot option.
Next, are the odexed drop togs... hopefully.
Thanks for these mods they work great, keep up the good work
I'm trying to learn about this stuff but it is a slow process for me
Updated OP: added homescreen rotation; also did a little more theme work (9.png and xml); added a fancy title with version # to theme/mod... more to come!

What else are you plotting? This is very interesting to me.
The End.
is there an advantage to being odexed? why not just go with a deodexed rom? Nice work still!
My guess would be that all the Motorola extras like Widgets and Homescreen still work with an odexed ROM. Motorola did make one heck of a ROM in my opinion.

Technically an odexed ROM should be a bit more zippy than a deodexed ROM although I've never noticed a difference. Also an odexed ROM boots faster on the first boot or whenever you wipe the dalvik cache.

That's a big debate on some other threads/sites.. but, deodexing makes it a helluva lot easier to mod/theme. In my limited experience (and, therefore, stating this very vaguely), you need to deodex to get at and edit the smali files (I had to deodex, then reodex a few jar files for the batt and reboot mods) - but a lot of other mods/themes can be done (xmls, 9-patch, etc.) on the odexed apks with no prob.
And, why not just deodex? Well, it does definitely boot faster, hands down,on odexed.. and it's questionably more stable (that's very debatable)... plus i figure the devs at android and moto kinda know what they're doing

Updated OP: added dropdown toggles and hspa mod (not sure about the hspa, but we'll see)... I am partially satisfied now that I got the drop toggles odexed... maybe more to come (theme work, tweaking, etc)...
I've just done a full CWM backup, but specifically what files need to be backed up? Which ones get changed?

Just open the zip and look inside the app and framework folders.. all of those apk, jar, and odex files will be replaced..
And yea, i often just pull stable current copies of the files that will be replaced and put them in a nice little restore.zip before i flash something new (and have cwm on boot installed, of course), in case something goes wrong or I don't the changes.. pm me if you need a hand making those signed zip packages..
Or you could always push them back with adb as long as you have copies.. or restore /system only with cwm...

This phone runs stable with deodexed or odexed. I haven't had any issues with either. On my Samsung infuse its like night and day. Odexed roms on it are more stable, less problems. Deodexed roms are snappier and easier to theme because the odex file is gone but the phone itself will have issues (random reboots is the major one). I don't know if that helped but i tried.

Use root explorer or any other file explorer that allows you to write over system folder and just remove the file from your phone , and I woul recommend you to use Rocket Rom. The closest to stock just slightly tweaked for performance and gorgeous battery life

Wow that's great thanks for the info it worked! Awesome transparent pull-down now & loving the extra options!
Now say I wanted to change the icons (i.e. I like digital battery theme). Do you know, would it simply involve using a program like 7zip to just go in & swap the images? Or would I have to recompile & sign the zip & stuff?

IT would work if you choose the right pngs and change their names to match exactly the ones in the apks and if they are same size , I have not decompile anything. I am waiting for eybee197p to help me with that. But even without decompiling and recompiling It works OK

Thanks will give it a try...
This is probably because I'm using stock, but the iPhone-style clock ( )in the middle of the status bar is interfering/overlapping with status bar notifications. Like I just updated a market app & when I got the status bar "app successfully updated" it overlapped with the clock. Any fix?

Hey there.
I'm not a Dev, just a Themer.
After eternities of abstinence I have started with themeing again.
Here you will find a very nice example of my work (German Forum):
--> CM7-Special-modded-by-Benski
The main reason for modding/themeing at the 10.1 was, that the Stock ROM on it looks boring and i got some troubles with the available Themes on XDA.
So I started right from scratch and will now develop step by step my Theme for the Note 10.1
On the basis of activities in the german forum as well as the familial and professional full employment, it is not possible for me to publish updating my theme constantly or fix any bugs in a timely manner.
I tested my themes extensively before publishing it so that bugs should be excluded.
My Themes based on the newest Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean XXUCMA8 Note 10.1 / N8010 Stock ROM, but it is deodexed!
In theory, all my themes and modifications should be running on all Note 10.1. but I had only been tested on my N8010!
Requirements:
Root
Custom Recovery (CWM oder TWRP)
deodexed ROM
Installation:
download ZIP
copy the ZIP on your Device
boot into Recovery
Backup your current ROM!
flash ZIP on Recovery
reboot your device
Themes and Modifications
1% Battery-Mod
Most disturbed for me was the insufficient battery indicator, I have dedicated this first. In this ZIP, I've change the Battery Icons and the script for percent steps. Now, it shows you the 1% steps!
Screenshots (samples):

SystemUI_BatteryMod.zip

The SystemUI.apk is full Stock. I just change the Battery. If you are running a theme on your device,
my ZIP file will overwrite your installed and themed SystemUI.apk and you getting a Stock Look back!
BatteryMod_by_Benski.zip
- File attached -
You can use the Battery Mod_by_Benski.zip if you got already a 1%Battery Mod on your 10.1. This Zip will just change the Battery Icons.
Benski's themed SystemUI.apk
The SystemUI.apk has been given a complete makeover graphically from me. Mostly all Icons are replaced. My 1%Battery Mod is already still in there. Just flash the ZIP file in your Recovery.

Benski's themed SystemUI-V2.apk
Here is a new themed SystemUI.apk. I changed some PNGs and XML-files. The result will you see on the screenshots and in the changelog.
Attention: V2 will just work on N8010!

Benski's themed SystemUI-V2_for_N8000
It seems, that the Note N8000 can't work with XML files from the N8010.
I think, thats not a real big Problem. The onliest difference is, that you don't have changed clock colours and background of notification lines. Hope, you can live with this.
Attention: you have to use "Benskis_themed_SystemUI_V2_for_N8000.zip" on N8000!

Special Thanks goes to:
Darkman, for the provision of the current stock deodexed ROM
nadmaj, for the basics of creating flashable ZIP files and support
the guys from VillainTheme System
lsherif for tireless testing
Now, have fun with my Themes and Modifications
best regards
Benski
!!! ATTENTION !!!
I'm not responsible if you got trouble by flashing my themes and modifications! You do that at your own risk!

New screenshots and the download will you find in OP.

Nice work mate will try it right away .
It's a great pleasure to me, i'll expect your feedback
After installing the three zip files theme, battmod and system UI , i had force close to the system Ui and my status bar has gone , so I thought that the problem was from the system UI , tried again without flashing the system Ui , but really nothing changed except the batt .
Running collection v6 rom , n8000 .
You dont't have to flash all three files. One file is enough.
I recommend to flash just the last one --> benskis_themed_SystemUI.zip
Everything is in there, my BattMod and also the themed SystemUI.
If you just want to change your BattIcon, than flash the SystemUI_BattMod or BatteryMod by Benski. But not both!
Everything is discribed in OP, pls read it carefully
Unfortunately still have the same problem fc of the status bar .

mhm...
maybe there are some differences between the SystemUI.apk's on N8000 and N8010, but i can't believe it.
I've tested my modded version a few days and got no problems during the flash and the running.Ii flashed my new Version over the SystemUI_BatteryMod.zip and got no FC or any other issues...
I'll build a other Update-ZIP on weekend, which change just the PNG's but not the SystemUI.apk. Hopefully, the problems will be gone
