Hi, noob question I guess...
I have looked everywhere for this answer throughout these forums and google and I'm really sorry if the answer is lurking somewhere here already.
I am in the middle of installing a custom ROM on my 2nd sensation 4g (w/ tmobile) and I'm stuck. There was a firmware issue and the phone was stuck in a boot loop after clearing caches and all that jazz so I had to superwipe and try a different firmware file. I've booted the phone into hboot about a bajillion times tonight but now it won't boot into hboot in order for me to install the new firmware. Hitting vol down+power. Just boots into regular HTC white screen, then continues bootloop again. Tried taking out the SD card, tried just letting it sit a while, I can't think of what else.
Nearly every other issue I've found about this has people suggesting to use a rom manager or quickboot to just start over at ruu files but I'm at the stage in the rom process where I can't boot normally or get into recovery to install zip files. And maybe I can use a rom manager at this point but I just don't know how?
Please help? :\

Double check if you unticked fastboot mode.
I have no way of checking that. I cannot boot past the white HTC logo on startup, so I can't get into the power settings.
I know for sure that it's not in fastboot because I've booted into hboot about 50 times previous to this tonight.
Pulling out and reinserting battery? then power on whill pushing volume down?
Yep, that's what I'm doing. Instead of flashing to the hboot screen like it normally does when I'm holding both buttons, the screen stays black until I release the buttons, then it starts loading up the HTC screen like it's trying to boot normally. Doesn't matter how long I hold the buttons for.
weird! sorry no other ideas

1. adb reboot bootloader
THATS IT!!!
So I'm not really familiar with this stuff but I think I know whats wrong with my phone but I need you guys to link the files for me because I can't find them on google.
So here's the problem, I want to factory reset my htc one x or xl but it's not working.. oh and im not sure if its an htc one x or xl but I can tell you that its from Rogers. Now I think the reason why I can't factory reset my phone is because the recovery file or rom is corrupted or something and when I try to factory reset from the boot loader it says: this build is for developping purpose only in red text below the htc screen and it just get stuck and turn on and off repeatedly until I hold power + volume down again, select power off and reboot it so really turn it back on..
Can you guys help me please?
also when I followed a guy's guide on youtube and when I try to flash the recovery it doesn't seem to flash.. man this is so frustrating
You have to relock your bootloader, then run the stock rogers ruu.
There is a thread in the dev section that can walk you through the process.
Moved accidently posted in HTC One X
Hello everyone. First of all I am new to the XDA forums. Second of all I am using or was a AT&T HTC One x. I tried to get CM10 on my phone at first and then Viper XL both fails. Go TWRP on successfully through Goo.Manager. Now I have accidently deleted and wiped the system delvik cache and everything. My phone won't even shut off ATM. I used as well Hasoon's All in one tool kit. I just want my phone back and working I don't even care what ROM or even if I have to go back to original software. I just need my phone back. Just please someone post instructions or a YouTube visual. Right now I have purchased a AT&T Z431 GoPhone for temporary use. Best part is I cant even seem to get the micro sim from the one x to fit in it.
Even better....
My parents would kill me if they found out but I am daring. And 18 and have a job and use my own money so I don't care. (Sarcasm.)
Just help
Sincerely: Friendly neighborhood superhero Techinstein.
Hold power and volume down until the phone turns off, when the screen goes back, release power. But continue holding volume down. This will take you into the bootloader. From there you can relock your bootloader and ruu, or you can go into recovery and flash a new rom

Ok I got into bootloader mode I just need the instructions as mentioned before for Viper XL flashing with windows 8 please.
1. Boot into bootloader mode
2. Navigate to recovery option , then press power button to access recovery mode ( I assume you have twrp as you said above )
3. In twrp recovery , choose mount => mount USB => connect your phone to your computer
4. Copy viper xl Rom to your phone , when it done , disconnect you phone from your computer , then select unmount option in twrp
5. Wipe cache/ David cache , factory reset ..
6. Install viperxl
P/s :
- if you never unlock your bootloader or installed custom recovery. Then download att ruu 2.20 ( available in development section). Boot phone into bootloader mode, then connect you phone to your computer and run ruu.exe and follow instruction.
- if you know that

I said I think that I don't have TWRP anymore somehow accidently gone and on windows 8 formatted hard drive so it works. Now only have bootloader and no os. But thanks.:good:
I've never ruu a phone to stock but wouldn't that work there's a couple guides for ruuing in dev section
I had to stock ROM RUU ITS 2.20 after reflashing well postlink I found for the RUU AT&T HTC One X later. Then I unlocked bootloader again. After that I downloaded Viper XL 2.4.0 and flashed it and TWRP through recovery.

It sounds like you should stop messing with the phone until you read up and gain a basic understanding of what you are doing.
1) You probably just forgot to flash boot.img or factory reset when originally flashing CM10 or ViperXL.
2) Of course wiping System means the phone won't boot. You wiped the operating system
3) Cramming the MicroSIM into a SIM slot, really?
Is it working now? I wouldn't try to insert a broken SIM, you may end up damaging the tray. SIMs are free from AT&T. Damaged SIM tray . . . much more expensive.
They have adapters to fit MicroSIMs into "regular" SIM slots.

I had it romed with viper then RUUD it in which I well post link for AT&T One X OTA 2.20. The sim works perfectly fine lol. I don't even need the other back up phone. I am probably going to sell it. After RUUing my phone and relocking it I am going to delete all my android SDK adb files then download clockwork and cyanogenmod. But thanks for the suggestions.

Remember to click thanks if I helped.
I think you forgot to flash the boot.img found in the roms zip file. Do it in windows from fastboot usb. There's a couple quick tools out there. I used the one from onexroot.com

My Idea it is. Because I invented it, I am on every forum and game. I invented it because I thought Einstein - E + Tech = Techinstein. I also get straight As at least in 12th grade. But I haven't learned how to code yet or anything. I do know how to use MAYA and UDK (Unreal Engine.) For game design. I'm good at video games but not hacking things. At least yet but I would like to learn wouldn't you?

Sorry to hijack this thread, I have the same issue, accidentaly wiped phone, only problem is, no matter how many times I try, I cannot get into recovery by holding down the volume down and power keys. Currently the phone is stuck on the green on white HTC screen.

Hold power until the feedback buttons at the bottom blink 5-7 times and the screen goes black. When it goes black, let go of power and press and hold volume down until the bootloader comes up

I tried that no luck. I have a backup, I just need to get to recovery to restore it.
If that's not working and you're positive you're doing it right you'll have to open up the phone and disconnect the battery.

ATT One X accidental wipe memory with TWRP, stuck on HTC loading screen. Response.
If anyone has had or is having the problem of being stuck at the Htc booting screen, I want to add in my information about what I did.
Here is what I did:
I pressed the volume down button at the same time while pressing the power button. Boots it into programmer mode.
Than I used volume buttons to highlight recovery. Press power button. Goes into Recovery.
From there I went down to mounts and storage. Press power.
From there I went to MOUNT USB STORAGE. Press power.
Than Unmount. Press power. Now you should connect in your usb cord to computer. Go into your phone drive.
Now go into http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24962323 and download the stock rom drive of your language. English is Arabic version.
Now put freshly downloaded, don't have to compress it, into your phones drive.
Now turn off phone, boot back into recovery mode.
Press install zip from sdcard. Power.Choose zip from sdcard. Pick whatever you installed onto your phone. Let it install.
And than reboot.
There you go. It should boot up HTC logo, "Quietly brilliant" and will put you onto the setup screen and pick your language you want.
I was to pleased when I got this working again.

hi I really really need help. My htc one x was on viper x then i wanted to flash to cm10.1 but i failed. I then realized that i have to update my HBOOT. And so i did. And now it has been relocked. When I tried to boot my phone, my sd card is not available, my phone can't have signal, almost everything is impossible to do. I also cannot go into CWM recovery.
What i can do now is only go to my boot loader by pressing volume down and power button. What should i do?
You're in the one xl forum . You want the one x forum

First i tried to install custom rom in my htc one s(fido)
i successfully rooted my device and then i install the new rom.
but unfortunately i deleted both my backup file and the custom rom which i installed there is nothing in the phone now it wiped every thing. i tried many things to get back my device but i cannot. almost my device is dead how to get back my device.... can anone help me pleas..........................
Wrong section, post in Q&A next time, your problem will get solved quicker.
Hold the power button for fifteen seconds-ish, until a line flashes on the screen. Then boot into HBOOT. As long as you have access to a computer, the rest is easy. Recovery, mount USB, copypasta ROM over and flash.
