[Q] Apps on stock XT1045 deleting on their own?? - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This afternoon, I noticed a couple of apps were missing from the home screen. I initially thought maybe I had accidentally deleted the shortcut to the apps by carelessly handling the phone while the screen was on (I've done that in the past on a different phone), but when I looked at the app drawer, I discovered the apps were actually completely missing from the phone. There were also several apps deleted that weren't even on the home screen. It was about ten apps in total. When I went to Google Play, it showed the apps had been purchased and/or previously installed, but were not currently listed as installed.
I re-installed all of the apps with no issues, but I've never experienced this before and it is a little unsettling since I've only had the phone for a couple of months. I know some of the apps that were deleted had been moved to the SD card, but I am not sure if that is the case for all of them. I am aware of the problems some people have had with this phone not reading certain SD cards correctly, but I haven't had any issues until today. I am using the same micro SD from my previous phone, and I never had any problems with the card on that phone. It's a SanDisk Mobile Ultra Class 6 32GB.
Also, this didn't happen an a re-boot, unless the phone re-booted for some reason without my knowledge. I just picked up the phone, after it had been on the table for an hour or so, and noticed the apps missing.
I tried searching for a solution before posting this, but I couldn't turn anything up. I found some posts from a couple years ago with Xperia owners complaining about something similar, but that was it.
Any ideas, or anyone else experience this on any of the Moto G phones?

I can verify it's happening on mine as well, on more than one occasion. I'm still trying to determine some sort of pattern but so far I'm still not sure what's happening. I'm also having problems installing apps, getting a 489 error code when I try to install from the google play store. I usually have to reboot or clear data for the store app before I can get anything to work.

[Q] Remove Apps from Purchase History

While it is easy enough to remove apps from the phone, these items remain in your purchase history in Zune. When you restore your phone through a hard reset immediately all these apps are reinstalled back to the phone all 78 of them. Some are trial versions of full products some are just games or apps that you thought would be good but were rubbish. I would have thought that you should be able to remove those items that you will never restore to your phone.
Has anybody found a solution to this? Short of creating a new account.
Well, it seems that this is not an issue. SO I'll live with the large list of inactive apps.
I've too been searching for a solution to this for a while now, have not found it yet. It's a matter of time before the wife finds all those adult apps I downloaded-and-erased
I was just about to post this. If someone tries ton of apps, this is a pain in the a$$.
When I got my device, I must of tried about 20 apps, about 3 of them I paid for (because they work for me) and a handful of games here and there( I still do this alot).
I did a hard reset for mango about 2 weeks ago. It installed about 32 apps, only 12 of them I owned (or wanted to keep). So this tied up my phone for almost 2 hours waiting for these to download (if I attempt to cancel it, it will just download it later), then manually uninstalling them
There has to be a way to delete an app so you never have to see it again.

Did you hard reset through Zune? I hard reset after Mango, and it never reinstalled my apps again - though I did the hard reset using the Volume-Camera-Power method. I used the new myphone or whatever section in live.com to reinstall all of the apps i wanted back on it. I left it plugged into the wall adapter for power, and sat at the computer and told it which ones i wanted. never had to touch the phone.
add it here:

and get ms to add it as an account feature. if enough people vote on it then it'll be there.

[Q] Android Virus? Interal Phone Storage Maxing Out

[UPDATE] My phone crashed and then got stuck in a boot loop, so I had to reset it. I would still like input from anyone concerning the below, because whatever caused the internal storage problem directly contributed to the boot loop.
I have seen several other posts about this issue for several different phones, all from April, but it hasn't been resolved in any other forum, so I thought I would start here. My issue just started today. I have a Droid X that is running a CM7 nightly with a couple of zeppelinrox scripts. I have had CM7 installed since January, so I believe it does not relate to CM7 or any other mods I am running. I was thinking that it must be a virus. What happened (and continues to happen) is this:
- My phone played the message tone, and I got a notification saying that my phone storage was almost full and that I needed to do something about it. I thought that this was very odd, since I have 6.2 gigs of internal storage, and I don't have that many apps installed, and I have all of my pictures and other media on my SD Card.
- I then got a notification that my text message inbox was full, so an incoming text message was rejected. I get this notification every couple of minutes or so.
- I deleted several of my largest apps on my phone, which should have freed up about 30mb. It showed that I had 12mb free, which quickly shrank to 5mb, then 100kb, than 0.0kb, as if something was actively filling it up.
- I deleted about 700 text messages, and still got the same error as before.
What should I do???
Well, you won't lose anything trying to use an antivirus app.
Is there a way I can install it from my computer to my phone's SD card? I have been attempting to download an AV app, but Google Play force closes itself whenever I try to do this. Very frustrating!
You could try re-installing the whole rom.
Well you can download an APK (if exists) of a FREE antivirus and install it on your phone from the SD Card.
If it's a virus i don't think that it's stored on the sdcard, it could be there but the system is infected anyway.
same thing here
i have a droid x 2 global with cm7, I have the same problem . everything has been good but as of two days ago i started getting storage full and cant receive text warnings . i have like 6gb internal storage with very few apps installed and if i delete them and nothing really happens . i have pulled my hair out with this one. I did a fresh wipe "data and factory" and reinstalled c7 with an updated version . it all was good until 12 hours later bam same messages. did another wipe/reinstall when prompted to enter google account and stuff I deselected the box "allow google to restore phone" or something like that and haven't installed any apps. so far so good. i'm going to slowly install the apps i had and try to figure out what is going on. please let me know if you find a solution. the weird thin is it just started happening . i though virus but wtf ,
quigley, have you visited any websites on your phone that you don't normally go to? What internet browser app are you using? I am using Dolphin Mini, and I was researching some stuff with Google, and visited many sites I don't normally go to, so maybe a virus came from there.
Since my reset last night, I have yet to experience any problems. Thankfully, I had made a backup of all my apps and settings with Titanium Backup a week or so ago, and all my media was stored on my SD Card, so I didn't lose much. I never use the Google backup. And check this out:
Total App Usage: 289mb. Free: 6.3gb.
And this is the same set up I had right before the "event!" It must have been a virus. I see no other reason for 6 gigs to get that completely filled up in minutes. It can't have been CM7, because I haven't updated it in months! I wish someone could shed some light on this.

You can install it via the Web Market.

I have been using stock CM7 browser, and i don't browse much usually just google news, "never porn or torrent sites " i have a desktop for that fun. so i really don't think it was a virus from browsing . i haven't had any trouble since my second wipe and not using google restore during setup. i'm still slowly adding my usual apps. we will see what happens , P.S also when this happened i was unable to move stuff onto sd card , it showed full also. I really don't think it was a virus but it sure seems that way.

Missing data after reboot? Help!

Hi guys, i was playing a game called F18 Carrier Landing, when my phone froze. I long held the power button so that it could reboot. After it rebooted, i unlocked it, and it gave me the interface as if i freshly flashed a new rom or i did a factory reset (the interface asking about google and setting up accounts). So, i completed that and once my home screen popped up, i faced a few force closes, from titanium backup, my anti-virus software Avast, and various other applications. I was very freaked out at this point. I remember reading something about fixing permissions if i faced constant force closes, so i rebooted to recovery and fixed permissions. Booted up fine, still missing data, but no force closes. But my google maps does not seem to work, i open it and it opens to the orange-ish checkerboard backing, but then force closes. I'm not exactly sure what to do at this point. Can anyone advise me on what to do or if this ever happened to them? For reference, i'm still on Froyo (don't ask why) 2.2.1, ROM's Audiophile Redux by Raver. If you require additional info to help me find a solution, i will gladly comply. Thanks!
EDIT1: I uninstalled my Maps with Titanium and restored a really old version from September of last year, and it seems to be working. Or atleast it opens and loads.
EDIT2: It seems to only load apps stored on my internal/phone storage. As i checked Applications in settings, the SD tab was empty as if there are not apps from the SD card installed, what can i do about this?
This has happened to many of us on GB. Crazy it happened on Froyo. You are going to need to reinstall your missing apps. If it is similar to what happened to us your phone factory reset on it's own.
Alright thanks, when it happened i thought it was a pretty serious problem, but as i restore my apps from Titanium, i realize it's not that bad. Just glad to know i wasn't alone on this ordeal. I plan on hopping onto AOKP or maybe MIUI when my contract ends, this phone is just to valuable to me at the moment. They both seem so fast and amazing, plus AOKP has themes. K, so quick question, do you know the reason behind this, i mean, is my SD corrupted or something? I can still play the music and the videos from it on my phone, but i don't understand why it wouldn't read the apps on the SD.
None of us have nailed down the cause unfortunately.
Thanks anyways, up and running with most of my apps back. Gotta get around to flashing a new ROM someday. So many good one's coming out!

[Q] Help needed: HTC not booting beyong logo anymore

Hello dear forum,
something weird happened to my One S 2 days ago and I would need your help, since I am, not very smartphone-savvy. I will try to describe the problem as detailed as possible.
It is important to mention, that since a few months the phone's USB connection didn't work properly (I can charge the phone on the PC, but it won't be recognised as a device by the PC). Also the phone doesn't seem to have an SC card?? I never really noticed this, but now it puts an obstacle in my way cause there is no easy way to recover my gallery etc.
While I was manually updating my apps (at the time of the happening: WhatsApp and Skype), I suddenly got the popup message "Google Play store stopped working". I wiped recent apps and started the play store again. Suddenly, various apps (Google Drive, Gmail, Play Store, Clean Master, you name it..) all stopped working and I got a huge amount of these "stopped working"- popup messages, including "android.process.acore has stopped working".
It was impossible to get rid of the messages, because they kept appearing over and over again on the screen.
I tried to restart the phone, which didnt fix the problem. It seemed like my apps just kept crashing over and over. I rebooted again after a while and everything seemed fine. My data was also still there and wifi worked too.
But then the phone froze. I tried restarting it via the hardware button. Since then, the phone seems dead. It only starts when connected tot he charger, but always keeps freezing at the "HTC One S" startup screen.
Now I mentioned the USB connection was not working properly even before this happened. I still tried plugging the phone into the PC, and it seemed to be searching for drivers for a certain "QHSUSB_DLOAD".
I have no idea what this means and would like to ask you for suggestions on what to do (or if there is anything I could do at all). I don't have much hope, but the best case scenario for me at this moment would be to have my photos recovered.
Thank you VERY much for your suggestions, it will be hugely appreciated!

Why is Play Store so problematic? Stop DL at 99%; Download Pending all the time...

I've run into this for quite some time now, on both my Note 9, and my Huawei Mate 20 Pro.
All the things I find on resolving this suggest killing play store, deleting cache, deleting data etc. But even after that, it does not work well.
Seems it is a very important part of Android's eco-system, and yet very problematic.
Can anyone shed some light and/or permanent fix to this?
I'm a bit surprised there is no input on this.
I just needed to ininstall/reinstall an app. It was taking forever waiting on download. I deleted data and cache, and rebooted.
App ininstalled. The reinstall downloaded to 99%, and is not just sitting there.
I have to say it is VERY frustrating. I'm about ready to ditch Android. But that would be even more painful.
Did you use some VPN app when you downloaded apps with Google Play?
No. Although I do have NordVPN installed. But I have found that many sites are problematic to get to with it, both in the phone and PC. So I've stopped enabling it but haven't uninstalled it.
I'm guessing you think the VPN could be responsible.
I'll uninstall it and see if it changes anything.
Uninstalled, and rebooted. Trying to do update on some apps and it appears to have not helped.
Another interesting thing that happens at the same time that starts with the Google play store, is that I have a to-do app called DTG GTD. It gets to where the reminders coming from it, which flow through Light Flow, come in hours late. I had decided on my Note 9 that it was a problem with the phone. That's why I decided to get another new one, this Huawei mate 20 pro.
Now I just really don't know what to think. This starts about a month after I have either reflashed a phone or in this case bought a new one. I had factory reset and reloaded the Note 9 three times before I moved to this new phone.
I do have quite a few apps on my phone. Maybe it has to do with the mix of apps. Although, I wouldn't think it would take a month for it to start acting up.
