Q&A for [TOOL] Blob tools (Unpack/Repack)
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [TOOL] Blob tools (Unpack/Repack). If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!

Sorry to be this blunt, but you shouldn't try fooling with blobs if you don't have the basic skills required to compile a binary. Start by Googling something like "compile tutorial"

Hello everybody! I want to root my device in order to disable some stock apps. I am an advanced user, but I have no previous experience with Android and only very little with Linux. Anyway, I figured out that the first step is to get fre3vo here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1150006
and then I would have to do that adb procedure. I however don't have adb. I'm running Windows 7 (64 Bit). Will I need a Unix system for this or is it somehow part of the Android SDK and compatible with Windows? Can you help me in the process of rooting my Sensation? There's no need to explain the details, I know I have to click next in an installer... I just need to know what to install, where to go and what to do. If you can guide me to the point where I can enter the adb commands I think I'll be able to do the rest myself. Also, do I need HTC Sync for the conneciton to work, or what kind of connection will I need? Your help would be much appreciated!
U shud ask/reply in that thread. No need new thread just for a question.
Peace.

This SHOULD be asked in the thread really...but if you follow the instructions, it does tell you mate.
And at the very least, questions should be in the Q&A sub-forum. That's why it's there...
As for the question, I will be nice and answer: adb is part of the Android SDK and works perfectly in Windows 7 x64 (what I use myself). The install is very straight forward for the SDK. Just install the basics (what it gives you to install).
Download the Android SDK from Google
Install It
Go to the folder where you installed it
Open the folder platform-tools
Copy the files into this folder
Fire up CMD
Navigate to the platform-tools folder
Use the commands as stated in the folder!
Can't be too hard!
I found this video that will guide you through it.

Since this is a thread where you're asking a question, I would start by asking the question in the correct section. This isn't the, "Ask a DEV a Question", section. This is a section for DEVS to release stuff pertaining to Android development.

Thanks, I managed to do it with your help!
I'm sorry for creating the thread in the wrong section, I thought Q&A was more about very general questions and not exactly in-depth system stuff like rooting. Anyway, you can delete this thread if you like or merge it with the fre3vo thread.
Sorry again! I didn't mean to annoy you people.
Calling yourself an, "advanced user" and yet not understanding where to post certainly knocks off the "advanced" part! I find it amazing that with 365 posts you still ignore the forum etiquette, your member status should be demoted to Junior.

Ha! Agreed.
Ask in the appropriate thread. Shame calling yourself an 'advanced user' yet doing this. Thread closed.
IF THERE IS A POST ABOUT THIS ALREADY PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND JUST REDIRECT ME TO THE LINK
As said above, if the link you give me for the steps are hard (I cant do complex stuff, i only understand simple instructions) you can re write the steps here for me to get a better understanding
Okay, i am kind of irritated with the whole 15 levels of volume for Android devices and i wish to increase the range upto 30, 50 is preferred.
I've tried this link HERE
And obviously it didn't work because it is made for a Samsung device which is not mine
So done with the intro (Sorry if I bore you )
I will just tell you what I have and what i need
What I have:
I use an Xperia Mini Pro Sk17i
Running on Cyanogenmod 9.1 (ICS)
Yes it is rooted (No duh)
What I want:
Better range for my volume from 0-15 to 0-30 (50 is appreciated)
At least a frameworkmod.zip
Easy instructions or link to where i can do all this if it has been done
I know if there is a thread about this this will just make me look lazy or something but no, i have been searching around (still am) but i decided to ask so that a kind, charming, knowledgeable person (Trying to attract you ) can step forward and help me
Hope I can get a reply
Additional info can be asked at your request

Anywho, im sure you dont need a specific ROM for that
I've seen certain devices just have a framework.jar or framework.zip you need to install which just changes some codes
I found one thread HERE after some extensive searching and that volume fix is for my phone, it is not a Rom. I dont know if it will work with CM9.1 Mango but I am just doing a nandroid backup right now and I am going to try it
No helps?
Come on, im sure someone can help me out
Please?

Recognized Contributor Chat Support Link HERE
Go to that link so you can access the link to have a chat with the recognized contributors if you have any doubts, they help alot ^_^
And if you are lucky they should be online most of the time
How I managed to do it
This is just for people who need to change their volume on their Mini Pro or other devices
Things you need :
Java software Development Kit
Download Latest JDK (Just download the Latest JDK, not JRE)
smali/baksmali tool (Thanks to the Korean guy, 'vorcot')
Download here
Have Notepad
Have your Framework.jar file on your desktop
Now sometimes Java might not be recognized in cmd
This will be noticed when you use Backsmali.bat (Happened to me)
You can get such message like: "Java Is Not Recognized As An Internal Or External Command"
So to fix that watch this video
Credits to the guy because I thought i would never fix it
After that
Go HERE
And follow the steps from "A. Basic Steps"
and in one step to change the volume you cant just put 30 or 100, it must be in hexadecimal form
You can use the converter here
Just enter a number on the decimal are which is your regular 1-Infinite numbers and click convert
Hope it helps for people who need it :good:
And Any questions can be asked
When I am free, i will make a full Tutorial for complete newbies
Q&A for [ROM] cm-11-20150408-UNOFFICIAL_f2fs-moto_msm8960_jbbl

Root Explorer Doesn't Work
I've been trying for several hours to install the 04-27 version. Before I was using the official 0216 nightly. I'm currently stuck with no phone, data, or wifi service and can't copy sdcard0 back, and I think it's because I can't get root explorer to work in ES File Manager or the default File Manager.
When I try to enable root explorer in ES, it tells me "Sorry, test failed. This feature cannot run on your device."
I first tried flashing the cm11 rom from twrp, booted normal, power off (have to unplug cable for that to work), then boot into twrp and flash superuser zip. That didnt work so I've tried booting to twrp and flashing both cm11 and superuser together, still same results.
I'm pulling out my hair here, I want phone service back.... what is going wrong! How do I get superuser back and restore my [email protected] Help!
Please don't crosspost - it dilutes the community effort and is kind of rude.
Your question was already answered by the OP in the main thread.
Build Questions
Hello,
I'm trying to build an image, based on your repository and CM-11.
I checked out:
Code:
repo init -u https://github.com/mionica/android.git -b cm_cm-11.0
repo sync
Running breakfast fails no matter if I select:
cm_moto_msm8960_jbbl-user or
mionica_moto_msm8960_jbbl-user
Error: Can not locate config makefile for product "mionica_moto_msm8960_jbbl".
Also isn't the path supposed to be "device/motorola/moto_msm8960_jbbl", instead of "android":
Code:
<project path="android" name="mionica/android_device_motorola_moto_msm8960_jbbl" remote="mionica" revision="cr_kk_xt897" />
Thank you!

how would i know if it was a permissions problem? i copied it to my computer, searched the terms and changed it just as you had it written, parentheses and all, saved it as build.prop and replaced it in the original location. went to reboot it and just got stuck at the logo.

thanks for the advice but that doesn't really help. im following the suggestions of others on different potential solutions to a problem im having. i have no problem having to reflash, reinstall or do whatever to my phone. I'm asking what other ways are you able to get your LTE settings to work? i attempted the solution that was given regarding changing those certain items, and that didnt work. so now what?

The solution to your problem is here in the forums and it's very easy to find, but I want you to find it yourself.
You will find many posts that don't apply to your problem, but if you read them you will learn more about troubleshooting your device.
While tired and drunk I accidentally deleted an entire album instead of just the most recent photo. This album contained pictures and videos of my dog who recently passed. Please help me get them back.
I am trying to clone the internal memory to my pc so I can use Recuva to get the photos back. I have been trying to follow the guide here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...de-internal-memory-data-recovery-yes-t1994705
I have tried to follow it to the best of my abilities but when I run the commands through Cygwin64 Terminal I just get "error: closed" message. I think I have installed the Android SDK, Java DK and drivers correctly (can't be sure since there are outdated links and images in the guide, not to mention so many abbreviations that I have no clue what they mean).
I have a rooted S4 GT-I9505 with android version 4.3. My PC's OS is Win 7. I don't know what other details to include.
Just incase I'm really dumb, when I reboot holding the power, vol up and home buttons it goes into recovery mode, is this the same as the bootloader mode? When I enter adb devices it shows it as sideload, whatever that means.
As you can probably tell, I am not a programmer or dev. If I seem really dim please try to forgive me.
Thank you in advance.
My head is pounding now and I'm going to bed, hopefully when I wake there will be an answer waiting for me.
Thanks again.
Hi,
Thanks for using XDA Assist.
You pointed a nice thread to try to recover your files. You should post in the above thread to get further assistance.
Some people have reported success with DiskDigger though.
Good luck!
