[APP][1.5+] Weather Maps

Hello! This is Francesco from Italy and Weather Maps is my first app.
I developed Weather Maps to... show the weather on Google Maps!
Where you can find it?
I prefer, on Google Play <https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fingrtips.beta.weathermaps> as Weather Maps Beta. Or, if you prefer, downloading the latest apk directly from this post.
I need feedback about crashes and suggestions for next development.
Is it a limited beta?
Of course, no. It's the full app.
It's named Beta only because I'm a single developer and I can't test it on 3700 devices...
How can you help me?
I am open to criticism and suggestions. Please tell me if you experience an error and feel free to suggest everystrangething.
I would translate the app in several language, if you want help me in it send a mail to <[email protected]> for details.

Yes! I'm working hard to include new features and to fix every bug I noticed.
I'll use "What's new" tab on Google Play to list known issues and new features.

Is there a chance of getting the choice of temperature in F or C, for those of us in the US? I really like the wind map, being a longer distance bicycle rider!:good:

Thank you for your kind reply, I'm glade these maps are useful.
In fact, at present time, there aren't options at all. I designed the app to show temperature always in °C, but in °F only if device localization is en-US and its carrier is US based. I'm confident it works fine, but I have no evidences of it... Do you see temperature in °F???
In any case, you aren't the first to ask for this option, so I'll add it in next versions.

I published a new version including minor bugfix and two updates:
- added a new layout for tablet (no extra features, just the layout)
- changed the rules for showing temperatures in °F (now I check only if the locale is en-US, ignoring carrier nationality)

I don't need a precise location because I just need to center the map on your city. And I don't want ask for unuseful permissions, so I don't use GPS to get location. In fact, sometimes android isn't able to get location using only Net: I'll add a message to show the case when it occurs...

Hey guys,
I started developing for Android about 3 Months ago. I published 1 really basic app on Google Play before. Now I am working on a new app.
This app is basically a Fuel Log App which also calculates consumption and a few statistics. At this time the app only works for Liters, Euro and Liter/100km but i plan to make this adjustable in the Settings, like you can already see. I just don't know yet how to implement this.
I still have to rewrite the hole simpleCursorManager stuff which is deprecated and also seems to cause problems on Android 4.0 Devices.
I would really like to hear some opinions about the current version especially about the design. Of course i would love to hear suggestions too. If someone wants to help, i would be happy, too.

So glad to see someone continue the development of otrta could you please add support for custom buttons/layouts from within the app or fix the current layouts option (layouts does not seem to work for me, just says edit buttons, clicking edit buttons displays a blank screen...) if it helps I am using an HTC One M8. Also the ability to see the local database would be nice.

It's the next thing coming.. And already in progress

I noticed its not downloading the database filled with user uploaded codes, you should talk to the original dev about making this the official continuation and see if he can give you access to the existing database or if he can send you all of the codes already in it to be imported into your own database. Or i may just be wrong and the app is acting up on me... I needed to use a power code for a tv that i use everyday, after updating to this version i could no longer find the code and syncing did not download any new ones, so i temp switched back to the original version and let it sync, sure enough the code was there...

It's already the database from the official version but it's maybe not the latest.. I will have a look on it.. Maybe it's just a problem with the server.. @antifish is currently busy so he can't send me a dump of the DB every week.. So maybe it's not the newest version of it. If I find time I will write something to Sync the DB of my server with the other one.

Okay, thanks. I currenty don't have a HTC device for testing and so I can't try if code uploading works.. I will try to get one in the next days. Anyway there will be a temporary fix in the version that will come today.
With the fix I will go back to the DB server from @antifish but that means also that I won't be able to make that with the categories so it will be just temporary until I found a fix for that.
I will add it to the roadmap.

Okay! here is the official (not beta) app! Please download it and test it out and report for Buggs or anything that's on your mind about the app.

Just tested the app and I found some minor issues:
Some buttons don't work in small screens
You can't click buttons however you want, you have to click them in order in order to acces them
Text is being misplaced
As this is my first ever app, it is going to be alot of unstableness (lets just call it that)

About version 1.1
I could not find a way to fix the button issue without crashing the app on click of the button.
I decided to have one button on the home page that links to another page that has the other button. It is not convineint but it is better than before and it makes it using the app a little bit more/less simpler (depending on how you see about it). I feel it makes it more simpler but hey, evrybody thinks differently

Update to version 1.1
I finished the new update and here it is! Please report any buggs or something wrong and dont hesitate to ask for suggestions

There is soon coming an app update (V.1.3) that will make it work on smaller devices. I will make the text somewhat smaller to support them. It will also leave space for other information.

I might release an app that works for android 2.3, please kindly thank or reply to this post if you agree. The app works perfect on 4.0 and up and I don't really know if anyone still uses android 2.3 since nearly every old phone has a well working ROM for 4.0 and up.

APKGrabber
APKGrabber is a fork of APKUpdater. Big thanks and of course all credits go to rumboalla.
I try to develop new features and maintain the software to stay available on latest android devices, but don't expect weekly updates.

Thanks for owning the maintenance & upgrade of this beautiful app.
However, I have few issues related to APKGrabber
- Whenever, i click Ignore button, in a few seconds, I see a FC.
This is on Asus Zenfone Max pro m1, stock android, non-rooted, bootloader locked, non-twrped phone
Log option do not work all the time. i see an empty screen while i click on log from the right 3 vertical dots
- I would like to visit APKmirror instead of downloading from it.
Is it possible to provide an option to copy the link ( I mean click to download / Long hold to copy the link kind of option)

I think if both methods ('old APKUpdater'; visit APKMirror and new APKGrabber; direct download) could be available as option in App preferences, that would be great and serve both needs.

Latest v1.1.3 says it is still v1.1.2 when installed and the update notification shows up.

Artem here from APKMirror. I'm glad someone revived APK Updater, so kudos on that!
However, the setting you added to directly download from the site now turns the app into a leech which uses up our bandwidth without giving so much as an ad or page view in return. We had an understanding with the previous author about this, and because of them we actively helped him with the fast API and did not block his app. This direct download addition to APKGrabber now, however, goes against all of that.
Please remove it, as it's against our terms of service.

sorry, didn't know about any agreements. New release is out, bringing back the old behavior. Furthermore, i deleted all previous artifacts containing that stuff.
@Archon810 is anybody actively maintaining the API? I would like to get in touch to propose some questions about it. That would help making APKGrabber an up-to-date, stable app.

Just want put it out there because there are bound to be some people who decide to take the ****... what happens if people don't bother updating to the version that removes the direct download feature?
I'm hoping some action can be taken without penalising the developer, having detrimental effects on APKMirror and the average user

If there aren't to many probably nothing will happen otherwise direct linking will probably just be blocked.
Edit: I love the new ignore button right in the updates window.

Yeah so far so good thank you for the updates. Continued fine tuning version detection would good.
When it would auto download from apkmirror we didn't see where it would download them too.

Is your app setup for the Google Feedback for when it crashes? I just sent a log of it crashing.

Glad to see this project revived.
Though it still seems to struggle when in background on Pie - actually, I can't remember wether APKUpdater could even achieve a successful background scheduled search - it will start but won't ever finish.
Getting to its UI will show it still hasn't been able to fetch the installed apps' list & actually start the search. (VPN used + WiFi only setting ticked if relevant)
Also, APKGrabber updates never are found after just opening the app but only when a manual search is launched regardless of the auto option being active.
Also, if I may, I'd like to submit a couple of ideas :
- For when notifications are set to show up only when updates are available (or maybe even in other cases), I think it would be nice if the notification could get dismissed as the users gets to the available updates page.
- Available themes are ok but now not one seems coherent with the app's icon anymore. Replacing them with a tweakable theme engine would be better suited to each user's taste.

Great to see APKUpdater revived! It was a long awaited news!
Are you planning to increase API target to Oreo at least? This is one of the few apps on my phone that still targets Nougat

FYI, APKGrabber is available on F-Droid via the IzzyOnDroid Repo.
