Nice tutorial. Did root before this, but I can say those are the steps required and proved working.
Now, how to achieve working init.d? Tried universal init.d and init.d toggler but none worked for me. Any good guide you can point me?
Thanks again!

Really sorry, just found http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-e3/help/qa-root-recovery-installation-t2990666, oops.

Sent From My Sony Xperia E3 D2212 using XDA app.
Thanks for this. Got my phone rooted but it was soft bricked as the boot.img file supplied i think is only for the D2212. Im using the single Sim LTE variant and had to get the img file from this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2964845) in order to get my phone working again.
Thanks again for the work and dead easy instructions. Maybe just add the other boot.img file

Is it important to install custom recovery?...i want to root without installing custom recovery
This method can also unlock the devices who have "Allow Bootloader Unlock: NO" ?
I'm asking because my father has an E3 2203 wiht locked bootloader and I wanted to unlock it but from I've read there's no way to unlock a locked bootloader.
Can anyone please confirm that this works?
Thank you in advance.

this method can not unlock devices which are not allowed to be unlocked..
mean =>"Allow Bootloader Unlock: NO" can,t be unlocked.
but maby flashing open device botloader can unlock. because it is a botloader without locked state. i think so.
is this allowed for xperia E3 D2202??? i dont know whats the status on "allowed bootloader unlock"
Showing error Camera common has stopped working !! :/
When I restart my phone !! Error appears say "Camera Common has stopped working" ? It occurs in a loop
No work in E3 /D2206/D2203/D2243 ?
d2203
does this work also on xperia D2203?
after flashing cwm recovery my phone stuck in sony logo what to do??
Can I?
Can I install that cmw recovery with Mobile Uncle tools apk?
I can not download Minimal ADB and Fastboot from Google drive's link. It says "We're sorry. You can't access this item because it is in violation of our Terms of Service."

Your best bet would be to flash the stock firmware onto your device using flashtool.
1) Download flashtool from here: http://androxyde.github.io/
2) Download Miro firmware 11.0.A.5.5 from here: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_d8uWGbkaetR1ZuSWlUcTNNQVk/edit?pli=1
3) Install flashtool to your computer, keep the install location default to keep things simple.
4) Move the firmware to the flashtool directory. Default path is C:\Flashtool\firmwares
5) Install the device drivers provided with flashtool. Default path is C:\Flashtool\drivers. Install every driver firmware possible.
6) Open flashtool and click the lightning bolt. Select flash mode.
7) In the new window select your Miro firmware what you moved to the firmwares folder. Do NOT change any of the tick boxes as doing so can cause complications. Press okay.
8) Let flashtool prepare the file for flashing. Once it has it will ask you to connect your device in flash mode. To do so plug the large USB end into your computer, remove your phones battery and leave the back off. Connect the small end of the USB cable to your phone and hold the volume DOWN (-) button. Insert the battery. This puts your phone into flash mode.
9) Let flashtool work its magic. It takes about 2-5 minutes to make your phone work again.
10) Enjoy your working phone.

For Flashing Stock ROM fastboot drivers are not required, only flashmode drivers are required which Windows manages to get them easily. I wanted fastboot drivers for my phone which were in Flashtool -> Drivers folder. But the installing always used to fail. After lot of google searches I found out as the drivers were not digitally signed Windows used to block it's install process. If you are having same problem just Google 'How to disable driver signature enforcement in Windows'. It helped for me
Hello people, following the tutorial from GlitchtheEevee I remade it to make it easier to understand, and with a couple of simplified steps.
1 - Install the following programs in your computer:
- Pc compagnion from sony website
- Android Studio(I can't post urls so google to find it) when installing it, it may ask you to download an additional program which name I can't remember, just do it. Once you have installed it you have to enable the Google USB driver, instructions for that are in google also, just write "google usb sdk" on google
- Flashtool (google flashtool and the first website)
2 - Download the following files:
- CWM boot.img
- Supersu
- Sony RIC killer
- XperiaFirm
- android_winusb.inf
Download all from here: mega. co. nz /#F!eo0yEBaQ!ujFZ8Rl8XsJDK2KTgJlEKA
(delete the spaces I made in the link, I'm sorry if I am now allowed to post urls but I upload this files to my mega account)
3. Now Download the last version of Xperia m2 Aqua firmware using the program Xperiafirm (be sure of choosing your model) it will download several files, to transform all that files in a .tft file I used the last version of flashtool avaliable in the link above, open flashtool and click in tools/bundles/Fileset Decrypt. Select your source folder (the one where all the files from xperiafirm were downloaded) and send all files from "avaliables files" to " Files to convert" and click "convert". When it finish it will pop up a windows "Bunder", make double click in the "device" file and select yours, In the fields branding and version write whatever u want, send all files from the "folder list" to the "firmware content" and click "create". When it is finished you'll have your .tft file, you'll need it a little later.
4. Minimize flashtool, copy the file "boot.img" in the folder C:\Users"your user"\AppData\Local\Android\sdk\platform-tools (sometimes App folder is hidden) and the file android_winusb.inf in the folder C:\Users"youruser"\AppData\Local\Android\sdk\extras\google\usb_driver
5. Copy the file UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip in the root of your microSD card.
6. Go to the folder C:\Users"your user"\AppData\Local\Android\sdk\platform-tools and there while pressing shift make right click, "open command windows here", a command window will open, then write: fastboot flash boot boot.img and press enter, it will take a couple of seconds, then write fastboot reboot and your cellphone will reboot. In this point your cellphone is bricked, but don't worry, just after writing "fastboot reboot" while your cellphone is turning on press volume up and down several times and it will boot in recovery mode, there go to install zip from sd card and look for the superSu file, once installed go to advanced and reboot bootloader, answer yes to "fix superuser". Now write again in the command windows fastboot reboot.
7. Your cellphone should reboot with the last steep but if not and it enter in a endless loop of black screen (like it happened to me) you can just turn off your phone by pressing volume up and off bottom until the cellphone vibrate 3 times, and turn it on. If it reboot alone or you do it manually press volume down while your phone is turning on and your cellphone will enter in download mode. Plug it with the USB and in flashtool click the thunderbolt and flashtool, select the tft file you created before and in the window "exclude" check everything except "Kernel", it will flash now the kernel and when it is finished turn on your phone. You'll have to configure it like when you bought it.
8. Now your device is rooted, but you have to run the program sony RIC killer with the cellphone plugged, and that´s all.
If during the process you have any problem you just have to turn off your cellphone with the method I explained above, turn in on in download mode (volume down + on) and flash the tft you created.
I did not understand this part.
''select the tft file you created before and in the window "exclude" check everything except "Kernel", it will flash now the kernel and when it is finished turn on your phone. You'll have to configure it like when you bought it.''
or is touched only flash the kernel?
and could, thanks very easy.
You are THE BEST. :good::good::good::good::good::good:
It is exactly like u show in your picture, now just flash and after that you got it!.

Thank you for rewriting this for me! :3 I'm reuploading the video and it shouldn't be a problem this time! I'll post it on this and the original thread for the more visual of people when it's done uploading! ^o^ Gimme about an hour or three though. Uploading 1.5GB on a DSL connection that only allows .5mbps up at max is kinda sucky o.o
Why dont you compress the video first??
I think it should help you upload the video
but thank you anyway
I thank you to Mendeleiev also for re-write the tuto
thank you so much "Mendeleiev":fingers-crossed:
i root my device and now i feel great because of you:highfive:

I don't understand why on this device you need to flash boot instead of recovery....and by the way this method gave me bootloop
Sent from my 6055P using XDA-Developers mobile app
Why would you unlock the bootloader when you have the option to get root and recovery without doing it. Of course this is if you wanna try stock modded roms but for custom you have to.
I have used this rooting method but when i switch my device and open recovery mode. My mobile get hanged and not get recovery mode. Any other alternative methods
can someone send me another link for twrp of that sony xperia z3 d6653?? i can't download from that site
Hello,
I got a Xperia XZS SO-03J (Japan Docomo Variant). Anybody got any ideas to root this device and any custom roms. Already searched the forum but no avail. Thank you for your help.
Japanese cellular version usually unable to unlock bootloader.but still some phones can unlock. if you have twrp ,you can install some rooted ROMs modified from official ROM.(btw you have to find a ROM can install without unlock bootloader)

if you have docomo ubl yes you can patch kernel manual , because it's different from Au,Global,Softbank
I've tried with x compact docomo ubl yes
I think first of all need to check whether the bootloader is unlockable or not
if you can UNLOCK the Japanese Xzs then
you can use this TWRP
https://dl.twrp.me/kagura/twrp-3.2.3-0-kagura.img.html
there is a depate that you can cross flash XZ's Android 6 to extract DRM keys! but i am not going to go that, as soon as you UNLOCK you bootload, TA partition will be GONE..
what is your build number?
download your build from FLASHTOOL---> Xperfirm and send me KERNEL.sin and i will send you the modded kernel
rest PROCESS you can Read (carefully) at
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-xz/how-to/rooted-kernels-f8332-41-3-2-588-0-t3748987
its for XZ but applies to XZs too!

This is a good news! , good to know that you were able to Root it.
i am sure you will find good performance.
nighlight makes your screen TINT different (reduces blue) which makes it easier on eyes while you browsing in night or from bed. blue light hurts eyes and brain and increases sleeplessness.
a shortcut toggle button next to FLASHLIGHT will appear (if arent already in your build) and display setting will have NIGHLIGHT FEATURE ENABLED- you can control the INTENSITY of this filter according to your needs

Temporary root is now possible on the Xperia so-03j, I personally tested a few minutes ago.
Check this comment for instructions. And here instructions to create a launcher.

Those files seem appropriate for stock rom release 41.3.B.1.140., so don't try unless you're running that specific version (quite outdated if you ask me).
But first make sure your bootloader can be unlocked. If that's the case, you may want to install a recent rom with root support, or check the guides for rooting stock rom. Be aware that with unofficial roms you might lose camera quality or have no cam support at all.
If you're stuck with an unlockable bootloader (like myself) your choices are much more limited. My current approach is having latest stock, disable bloatware apps, and use temporary root when needed.
thank you @dinosaur99 for your quick response, i got the one that cannot be unlocked, so i'm using the temp root method, but do you know how to gain temp root access without using adb (laptop or computer), and can i automate the temp root every after reboot ?
again thank you for your response, and looking forward from you

Good question! I wanted to create a launcher too!
So I just followed these instructions and it works fine. First you need to perform the following commands from computer (have a copy of the exploit file in working directory):
Bash:
adb push su98-memory-kallsyms /data/local/tmp/
adb shell
# Run this from inside the shell
chmod +x /data/local/tmp/su98-memory-kallsyms
/data/local/tmp/su98-memory-kallsyms
chcon u:object_r:system_file:s0 /data/local/tmp/su98-memory-kallsyms
Now reboot the phone, and the file /data/local/tmp/su98-memory-kallsyms should still be there. On your favourite console app, create a new terminal launcher/profile/whatever it's called and name it "Root terminal", then make it so it runs this command on shell login:
Bash:
/data/local/tmp/su98-memory-kallsyms
Note there's a trailing <Enter> key at the end of the command. I use Connectbot and it was necessary.
Cheers!
Edit:
By the way, the last line would be the equivalent to "sudo bash" in a computer. That means you can write a script with the root commands to be executed upon reboot. Example launcher:
Bash:
/data/local/tmp/su98-memory-kallsyms /data/local/tmp/my-script
