Framebuffer console for nexus 5
Hello
I was wondering if you would be able to lead me in the right direction to getting a working framebuffer console for the MSM8974 MDSS framebuffer driver as used on the nexus 5 (drivers/video/msm/mdss/mdss_fb.c). I've tried using your modifications but it seems the Nexus 5 uses a different display driver (MDSS instead of MDP3). During my exploration I've encountered quite a few nasty bugs with the framebuffer driver including:
display fills with random pixels and stops responding (5-10 minutes) with multiple things accessing framebuffer (android and Xorg simultaneously)
complete unresponsiveness of display when writing to framebuffer
5-10 minute hang on reboot with framebuffer console enabled in kernel
I have been able to get more debug information from dmesg including some kernel backtraces which are available at pastebin.com/7svjGERT
Running "cat /dev/urandom > /dev/graphics/fb0" has no effect, and changing VTs with chvt command also seems to do nothing. I am building kernels from source myself and have enabled all the relevant framebuffer console options and set kernel command line as required.
Thanks very much if you can help.

Section Guidelines -- READ THIS FIRST

This area is currently experimental and was set up by the XDA Administrators for development discussion. The idea in this section is for developers (not only recognized developers, but all developers) to have a place for discussion threads to "talk shop." What kind of talk? Some topics (that I'm making up as I type this) might include (and are certainly not limited to):
Overriding the power widget in the notification dropdown
Considerations of using gcc versions other than 4.4.3 for compiling the kernel
Tegra3: discussion on working around the SOC wake from sleep delay
This isn't a Q&A forum. However, developers might kick off discussions with a question. The difference? This belongs in Q&A: "My phone wakes up slow, will it go faster if I take my sdcard out?" On the other hand, the following might belong in this new section: "Has anyone tried adjusting the mmc detection timeouts to see if there's an impact on the SOC wakeup delays?" The assumption here is that the person asking the latter question actually knows what a mmc detection timeout is, how they'd change it, and has started to play around with it before posting the question.
As well, this section is not for posting finished products or "advertising" of kernels, apps, etc. This section is to discuss the process, not for the end result.
The hope (at least my own hope) is that developers can discuss things here instead of resorting the various other methods of communication we've used. At the same time, newer developers and even non-developers can LEARN from the conversations and eventually participate.
Depending on the reception (and difficulty moderating, probably) this experiment will either be expanded for other device types, completely shut down as a failure, or adjusted. Obviously, if we developers don't use it, it might be considered a waste of time and dissolved.
This section will be very closely moderated by moderators who are also developers and non-development discussion will be harshly dealt with.
Let's do development.

Hello How do I change the theme
Hello everyone, I know this thread is rather old, but I finally got this running on my SGH-T959W (Wind Mobile) and its amazing compared to the gingerbread! Anyhow, I was having trouble with music control via in-line headset remote (pause/play, vol up/down, call receive, etc.). When the keys are pressed, it's no longer recognized as earlier the soft-key buttons would light up once the headset buttons were pressed. I am using a Sennheiser MM30G headset, if that matters. Am I missing essential drivers that I have to flash for the commands to be recognized?
P.S. This is my first post

Hi everyone,
this question might seem old but I am not satisfied with the standard answer that is given to my problem. What I want to do is disable the vibration of any notifications in Vibration Mode. Many would suggest downloading true silent mode but this is not what I need - the incoming calls vibration should stay as it is - I just want the notification override gone.
I'm asking this in the development section because I thought there might be a string inside a file that is responsible for the vibrating behavior that could be changed.
Thanks you for your help!

Have you tried switching off "Vibrate for calls" ?
