Hey,
My text messages are adding up a lot. Like if I am texting someone and don't close out the message then it starts counting my sent messages as well. So a lot of times when I close out the messages it says I have 10 unread messages in that thread and I have to go through and click on the message 10 times to make it a "read message.
Anny idea how to fix this? I have had this behavior one other time on my tilt, and it was only on one ROM, but am getting it now on my Raphael
Stock Rom or what?
Sorry,
Proven ROM, I looked it up and no one had found any fixes that I could see on that thread, so I was wondering if anyone here had had problems with a different ROM and knew a fix or if it was in the particular cooking of the particular ROM and I had to just put up with it.
this is an issue many have, but with no fix. i too am using provens rom.
Anyone else experiencing their text threads being out of order? For instance, i can send a text that shows that it was sent at the right time, however if someone texts me, the time is a couple of minutes off. Thus, throwing the chronological order off.
If im reading and thinking of ur problem rite it may be the same as mine was. When i first send text sometimes it would fail and wouldnt resend till i reopen text. So it would have wrong time at least i thought it did.

No, my texts don't fail. When I send them, they show the same time as my clock. However, if someone sends me a text, it shows they sent it about a minute or two ahead of my actual time.
I'll try to give an example: 6:45PM- actual times that these text are sent.
Me (6:45PM)- aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Me (6:45PM)- ccccccccccccccccccc
Someone Else (6:46PM)- bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb
See, how it places the incoming texts at 6:46, even though it is really 6:45 still, throws the order off on my reply. It makes it seems like both of my texts were sent before I even received a response.
Very frustrating......
Are you having this problem in the stock messaging app? I noticed it every once in a while, but haven't had the problem yet with Handcent.
If you're using the stock app, try downloading Handcent or ChompSMS or something, and see if it goes away
i have this same issue, its made me switch to handcent because the problem hasnt occured using that. Plus it lets me have vibrate functionality ONLY in the vibrate setting and retain only audio notification in a sound profile

Yeah, I'm using the stock messaging app. I'll try Handcent, apparently a lot of people like it. I'll update ASAP
i'm still using my fuze and i have the same problem. i wonder if it has something to do with the time on att , the other persons phone and/or other carriers servers
Handcent all the way! It corrects the out-of-order issue and is way more customizable, including assigning ringtones for each contact. Just remember to turn off the notifications on the stock messaging app, otherwise you'll receive double notifications on each message received.
Im having the same problem on my Captivate...But my N1 gets it right. Im getting replys before I even send a text...according to the time stamps.
Sorry to report that, although ive only experienced it once, i have seen the same problem with Handcent SMS
All these little issues on this thing are starting to pile up :/

But this is true, at least for me, for every device.

No cuz my iPhone worked just fine...
This problem happens to me if I reply back really quickly... It'll put my text above the one I replied to.

Beauty is there's ways around it (other apps) and we don't have to rely on anyone to fix it.
My wife and I both have Captivates. Her phone has the text messages out of order, while mine does not. Something we noticed is that when we do an auto sync of the date/time, her phone is consistently 4 minutes behind mine. For example, my time will be 6:06, and her phone says 6:02. I believe this is what is causing the text app to "re-arrange" the messages. The text app just looks at the time stamp of the message, and not the actual order of the send/receive process.
I am not sure how to correct this other than manually setting her phone forward by 4 minutes.

This is exactly the problem.
If I get a text at 9:01... And I reply at 9:01... It puts mine as having been sent before the one I received.
just use handcent people.
Yeah, but like I said, Ive reproduced the problem once, even with Handcent. On a side note, does anyone know how or where to get more skins for Handcent?

That does not solve the root problem... Some phones are getting the wrong time from the network when set to auto-config.

tikicult, somone else reported that their phone was off by 4 minutes. Solved it by getting a new SIM Card.
Guess I'm a new user so I can't post a link to the forum thread, but here is the url:

I've been having this problem as well.
I went to the AT&T store today to try and get a new SIM, as per one of the suggestions in this thread. Problem still occurred. Tried it on a fresh straight out of the box Captivate. Problem still occurred. Sales guy threw his SIM from his iPhone in a demo Captivate. Problem still occurred on both Captivates.
Later I tried adjusting the time manually up by a minute or 2. Problem still occurred after a text with a response approx. 20-30 seconds later. Still showed the text coming in at 1:23, and my response which was 30 seconds later as being sent at 1:22.
Seems like a Samsung software issue.
Hi guys,
Ive got a sensation on T-mobile and last night i had problems trying to send an sms to one contact in particular, it kept coming back saying unable to send message, i am able to call this contact and also receive their calls and sms. I know its not their phone as it takes sms from their other contacts and likewise mine still sends to the rest of my contacts. I have tried sending a few messages to this contact that i am having trouble with and a few have sent, but the rest come up as unable to send.
I hope someone can shed some light!
Cheers

Ive just deleted my whole inbox of every message and this seems to have solved the problem!
Edit: Nevermind, I just noticed your edit and see that you already resolved the problem. Glad you found a solution, guess I'll have to give that method another try.
Experiencing the same problem with one contact (though for all I know it may affect other contacts as well).
I haven't found a fix that works for me, although I have seen other people reporting the same issue having luck either by deleting all SMS threads or creating new (but identical to the original) APN settings. Neither of these worked for me.
The only two workarounds I have found that have worked are to add a subject to the message which in turn converts it into an MMS which will send without any problem OR using another messaging app altogether.
Yeah it seemed to work ok for me, deleting all SMS threads.
Maybe if you cant find a quick fix, give HTC or your provider a ring, its definitely nothing that we have done wrong!
Good Luck!

I'm having the same exact issue. I can't send sms to one contact using the stock app, but it'll work with GoSMS. Deleting all my threads doesn't work. Anyone have any clues? BTW, I have an Evo 3D, but I doubt the solution would be any difference.
A few days ago i stopped getting email notifications for my subscribed threads along with new ones I add. I am sure it is set to instant notification and I have not changed any settings, it just stopped. Anyone else have this problem recently? any ideas on how to fix it?
My dad had a similar problem to this one.
Best I can say is double check your settings in your mail app, and then (if you're using android) go into your system settings >> accounts and sync >> mail app of choice (if it's there, I know Gmail is for certain) and be sure that it's checked and then sync your phone again.
In the rare event that the hosting server went down, obviously that would prevent you from getting your messages. There could be network problems somewhere along the way as well, though that's also a rare occurrence.
I am not getting emails from xda at all, on my phone or computer, both to my Gmail. It just seems weird that it stopped all of a sudden.

BUMP!
i'm having the same issue with xda, i'm not getting notified for any subcribed thread or any private message, though thats what i've set in my settings.. anyone please get back as i really need that to work for so many things everyday..

for me it turned out that it got marked as spam. I think it was because I got so many in one day.
You woudnt believe it but right after complaining here it started working.
I am facing a similar problem...
Although I did receive email notifs today, for almost all my subscribed threads (its set to weekly)...
However, I am not getting auto-subscribed to new threads that I'm replying to...
This wasn't the case earlier...all my subscribed threads appear in one place in the xda app...but now I need to separately subscribe to each of them...
Typed using a small touchscreen
Anyone resolve this ? It's just started happening to me
I never designated this name into the notifications for Messages, and I don't get it. Randomly appearing categories??
Why did this name just appear with its own notifications options? What the hell is going on with this phone/version of Android?
Obviously the marked up, crossed out item is someone's name.
I don't use the Messages app and don't have this problem. However, I did do some research for you and found a post that might help you figure out the issue.
