Hey,
If i change the rom of a xperia does the sim lock (only working from 1 operator) will it dissapear? What can I do to remove sim lock on the phone?
Changing your ROM will not simunlock your phone. Your carrier may give you the code to do it, or their are websites that you pay for an unlock code. Most of them are fairly cheap ($5-$10). The most expensive one I have seen is for the Note which is $25. That being said, once you are sim unlocked, changing a ROM or doing a factory reset will not re-lock the Sim.
Can unlocked s4 be updated to kitkat without re-locking?

Hi.. I have a 4.3 running, unlocked i377m(Canadian s4). It was not factory unlocked. I made it unlocked in a small store. It was rooted when i got it back. Is there any way to update it by flashing to kitkat? I cant get any updates from about phone menu. It says its phone is modded and can't update.
Any help would be appreciated!!
Thanks in advance
I have the bootloader unlocked, twrp custom recovery installed, running the stock Rom. I'm needing to unlock the SIM from its current Sprint prepaid lock, to straight talk byop. Need some help. Don't wanna pay for an unlock code given that I'm going to be using it on the Sprint cdma for the byop straight talk
Actually have ATT A9(CID is BS-US001) with unlocked bootloader , root and s-off. after flashing unlocked ROM 1.57.617.52 still ask me for unlock code when i insert anouther sim. with ATT sim work properly. never see that before. Need your ideas. in getprop [gsm.network.type]: [Unknown]. so may be need to cnange gsm.version.baseband????
Thank in advise!
You have to get an unlock code from AT&T and unlock it yourself. Flashing a rom isn't going to sim unlock your phone.

There's no rom that unlocks your phone. Call att and request an unlock code.

i have an unlock code but...... the phone not accepted it. may be need brick it totally and then flash it. i am s-off.
Ahhh I thought you were trying to unlock the phone by flashing a rom lol. All you need to do is go back to any stock rom you want and then put the non ATT Sim in, use the unlock code, and then flash whatever other rom you want
Here's what I got. ATT LG G3 running stock Marshmallow D85030p with what I presume is the newest security patch (June 2016)
At this point it's not on a carrier but it's locked by ATT. They kept my number as well.. A number that was mine from previous carriers.
Will I be able to root, install TWRP, and unlock this device to use on a prepaid carrier? Keep in mind this same phone has been flashed, rooted and ran recovery mods and ROMs before. Still in perfect working condition after receiving it's last stock OTA.

First of all what do you mean they kept your number? Did you cancel? Unpaid bill? That would be a deciding factor on how to go about things.
But no root cannot unlock your device
1. If you left AT&T in good standing AT&T will unlock the device for free. Even if you don't have any account.
2. If not then you can get it unlocked for a few dollars from some eBay sellers.
3. What prepaid carrier? If Any provider that runs on AT&Ts network you don't have to get it unlocked, it will work fine with Go Phone, Cricket , H2O and many others that run on AT&Ts network.
But a note if it's no longer on AT&T due to unpaid bill, or on bad terms remember the device may no longer work on any GSM carrier within the USA due to AT&T will blacklist it.

I understand root alone won't unlock it. With all that being said can I still root and flash a recovery method that are permanent? Does MM still not have a reliable root or recovery method?

You would need to downgrade to KitKat to do that. But remember once you downgrade you'll no longer be able to go back to any official firmware Past KitKat without an AT&T SIM card of some sort to ota update it.
Also remember if you get an unlock code you need to be running stock D850 firmware or else you won't be able to enter the unlock code.

Are there any unofficial MM or Lollipop ROMs that are worth looking into? I couldn't care less if it's official honestly. And that last bit you said, you mean if I wanted a phone unlocked I'd have to basically wipe my phone?

If you unlock before you leave behind stock then no you don't have to wipe. Once you install any custom ROM, your only option to unlock at that point is to revert back to stock, which means wiping.

Yes you can, if you are on stock. You will need to get the unlock code from AT&T, be on stock firmware, and have an active SIM card from another carrier (I.e. T-Mobile or of it's MVNOs like MetroPCS). Once you have the unlock code, put in the SIM card, turn on the phone, and you will get the prompts for the code you got. Then you're done.
I've paid twice to have it unlocked no one can do it it's blacklisted from att but I've had the phone for ever so idk pleaee help I'll even pay
I don't believe you can unlock the AT&T version to be used with other carriers since the bootloader cannot be unlocked and believe possibly same with the Verizon version. Only the Tmobile & Sprint permit unlocked bootloaders. I could also be wrong in terms of usability with other carriers even if the bootloaders are locked. For instance my current phone it's a Verizon prepaid Moto E4 that was unlocked for use on Tmobile despite the bootloader still locked.
If you only say "unlock", I'll understand it in 2 ways:
- unlock the bootloader
- unlock carrier
1. Unlock bootloader
You can easily unlock bootloader if you have T-mobile or Spriny one. It's harder for Verizon or ATT. Just google and ask team Sunshine if Z2F was supported.
2. Unlock carrier
I dont know much about this case
