It appears that GooManager has been replaced by TWRP Manager, it's in the Play Store.
TWRP Manager shows 2.8.1.0 as the one for the Verizon M8, maybe they don't want 2.8.3.0 on our phones? Maybe it's not tested yet?
If it's working for you, let us know, OK?

TWRP Manager in the play store is what I used, at the end it said it crashed but when I go into recovery it says I'm at 2.8.3.0 and everything is working for me.

Hmm, somewhere else I read about it crashing but installing TWRP anyway.
Glad it's working for you, I'm lazy, I just used Flashify to download and install it.
I installed it last week using the fastboot method and it's working fine for me so far.
I have it installed and works great.

Opinions on the best recovery vary, personally I use TWRP and have never had a problem. You can always install the latest version of TWRP by getting the GooManager app from the Play store, running it, and choosing "Flash ROMs" from the menu. The app will offer to find a recovery and install it, choose that and it will download the latest TWRP version and flash it for you.

That is the easiest way if you already are rooted. Just download the zip from sidneyk' s thread and install it via Roque.

I'm rooted and running KatKiss but I'm also stuck with ClockworkMod Recovery v5.8.3.4 and nothing I do will let me change my recovery to TWRP any version official or not.
Any help out there.
I'm able to follow most directions well.

easiest way to install TWRP is to use EasyFlasher. See instructions here: http://www.transformerforums.com/forum/asus-transformer-tf101-development/31927-frederuco-s-guide-root-rom-tf101.html
Actually got it to work myself. Apparently the CWM gets stuck in a boot loop and a little script (I found)in the terminal emulator fixes it right up. it then allowed me to replace it with the latest TWRP recovery and everything is working great.
Now have KatKiss 4.4.4 on my TF101 and it's perfect. The GPS is now working better then ever too!. Just wish I could put a SIM card in it and I'd be all set.

Congrats. What card are you using (make/model) and how is it formatted? Needs to be FAT32 if I'm not mistaken

For the Sim card? That's the card to get cellular service on your phone or tablet if it's equipped. They had a TF301tg but it's locked to AT&T and I haven't heard of any being successfully unlocked yet.
As for memory cards I have a 16GB in the tablet and another 16GB in the keyboard. Both are so generic I don't recall who made them. and they worked right out of the box so I never formatted them.
The question it's simply and i'ts on title:
On My OPO i have flashed the TWRP 2.7.1.1 successfully about one month ago........ now i advice it's been released the 2.8.0.0 and i want try to update it:

Normally busybox is free on the playstore. Not sure how to explain but it adds the possibility to do some commands, in this case TWRP Manager.
But I read posts from 2 people that they had issues with installing CM11s from scratch so I would wait to see if it is ok to do so or wait for an update.
2.7.1.1 works do there is no rush to update.
The Busybox installer by stericson is from what I gather not dangerous and is useful for many apps, such as the TWRP Manager. But if you are unsure, I believe the app Flashify does not require Busybox to be installed (don't quote me on that), and it can be used to flash the new TWRP 2.8 image file. Search for Flashify in the Google Play store and install it. Then select "recovery image" and select the TWRP .img file. That worked for me when I tried yesterday, but I can't give you any guarantees.
ok boys... tomorrow i uninstall the official twrp manager and try to use this app........... i hope this not brick my opo

Do not use 2.8, it has issues with flashing kernels. It can cause bootloops. Just stick with 2.7.1.1, it's rock solid.

I used 2.8 and flashed a ROM and flashed multiple kernels without any problems.

Thanks for all reply.... i have correctly updated my Recovery from 2.7.1.1 to this 2.8.0.0
For now i don't need to change nothing from STOCK ROM... i have already unlock the bootloader some month ago.. i have root permission and i have a good feedback whit the stock CM11S............
Otherwise if i have some problems i thinks i can re-download and i can reflash the 2.7.1.1 over this 2.8.0.0 whitout any problems rights ?

Agreed. If fact, after I installed O2, before rebooting, TWRP said "Hey, it looks like you have not installed SU! Do you want to install it?"

Exactly what happened when I did it... twice as I messed up something (completely my fault) and flashed it again a second time
It's possible this is also somewhere else, but I am having trouble finding it....so I gave up and figured I'd ask.
Okei. I started with TWRP 2.8.6.1. So from my understanding flashing a modem does not work in versions of TWRP newer than 2.8.6.0. I get that, and so I decided to downgrade. However, that seems to be the version that I am unable to get working. I've attempted to flash the 2.8.6.0 recovery via fastboot. Everything says it's good in my terminal. So I go ahead and boot into recovery, but my phone goes to a black screen for a moment and then reboots into OS. I tried a different method, via the app from the google play store. It tells me that there is an error of some sort, or that I already have it installed. So I used the google play app to install 2.8.6.1, which worked flawlessly. So now I am back where I started.
Is there some trick to getting specifically TWRP 2.8.6.0 working so that I am able to use it to flash a different modem? Will using an even earlier version yield the same results? Or am I better off doing it via fastboot?
Thank you for your time <3

I too have experienced exactly what you describe and have yet to find a solution. I own 2 OPO's, plus I administer one for a friend who purchased one based on my recommendation. The oldest one I own which was purchased 4 months prior to the others has worked perfectly with any recovery or ROM I've installed on it. It has TWRP-2.8.6.0 installed and has no problems flashing any partition from recovery. My newer handset and my friend's both refuse to boot into recovery with that version installed. It doesn't matter if I flash from fastboot or from TWRP itself. I have no idea why this phenomena occurs on some of these devices, but it makes administering them a more time consuming pain in the ass. I'm going to try Phil's recovery, as was suggested, as a workaround, but I'm dumbfounded as to why the inconsistencies exhibit themselves on particular devices.

Is there any particular reason for Philz recovery over standard CWM?
Also, while this might be a viable option my understanding is that, that would render my old backups useless since I was previously using TWRP? That's kind of unfortunate. =(

Unfortunately, if that is the same one from twrp's website it isn't going to do me any good. I already attempted that through fastboot. 2.8.6.1 works flawlessly. 2.8.6.0 seems to bootloop once and then toss me back into the OS. Thank you though, I appreciate it.
Had the same problem tried to flash back to 2.8.6.0 via TWRP and didn't work and seemed like recovery had disapeared so used TWRP App to install 2.8.6.1 booted into recovery then rebooted and tried to downgrade to 2.8.6.0 but got a message about same recovery, rebooted phone tried again and it installed no problem.
