[Q] Two Dolphin icons - Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The latest Dolphin update, Dec 25, 2014, installed another identical icon. When trying to delete one of them, I get this message, "Do you want to delete this app?" Well, I don't, just the Icon.
Is there a easy way to delete the duplicate Icon and leave the app?
By the way, I have noticed some other apps doing this. Upon updating an app it leaves a duplicate icon.

[Q] Google Play Services

When I checked my Galaxy's file manager to uninstall an app, I suddenly saw "Google Play Services" installed. a 3.15 mb app. What is this for? I read on the market it is automatically installed? But, I didn't see any updates on my notification bar to install this, it just popped on my file manager.. I uninstalled it, but it installed again without any notification for it to be installed... please see attachment to see what im talking about guys.. Thankz!
I think that the 3.15MB file is the latest version of Google Play. It NEVER alerts you when it is downloading, updating, or complete. So just to let you know, it is likely to update again. If you are in GPlay at the time, it will force close with no warning.
That is not a defect in the app, but that is simply how it behaves. I flash many roms weekly, and sometimes daily, and this behavior is common among ALL fresh installs of any rom.

I received this envelope icon on my notification bar and it isn't my gmail, when i scrolled down my status bar i saw the envelope and had some Chinese words next to it. is this an ad or spam? how would i solve this annoyance? I installed some apps yesterday and deleted them hoping this envelope notification would go away. This envelope only appears when i switch on my wifi. I also sometimes get this folder titled "ppy_cross" and sometimes some random numbered folder. Even if i delete these 2 folders, sometimes it woud return when my wifi is on.. I also read that Go launcher apps such as themes and keyboard skins have airpush ads, could this be true because i do have Go Launcher, and I had that chinese envelope thing on my notification bar, could this have any relation?
Hmm...can't really tell with the Go Launcher issue. I never had this problem, but I do get the Airpush ads with Go launcher and its products installed. Did you try a XDA or Google search for ppy_cross? That might yield the best results, if any.
Could also be spam that filtered through from somewhere
Google play services is some app to better unify and use Google plus and +1s I believe. Something to that extent.
I got it too, useless for me but WHATEVS

Just a quick note. Has anyone looked at what this google play services actually has access to.. basically it can take almost total control of your phone..
I froze it with titanium backup and nothing happened.

[Q] How to add a specific app to the multiwindow bar vs a random app

Ok, I apologize as I know the answer is somewhere in XDA (I saw it once), but for the life of me I cannot find it via XDA's search function or google. Apparently bad search fu today.
I'm running a custom ROM that has all apps enabled for multi-window use. Which is great. But the problem is when I choose an application that is not on the first screen of apps, it will choose one from the first page instead (in I think roughly the same location of the screen). The only "work around" I've been able to deduce is on the first screen (w/o scrolling), drag the bottom right app into the multiwindow bar. Then remove it fro there. This will shift the apps up by one spot. Then repeat this until you get the app you want.
This becomes annoying when the app you want is towards the bottom of the list.
Anyone know of a better way of doing this? I recall this same issue on my S2, but perhaps I didn't have any many apps installed so it wasn't such a big deal.
Thanks
John

Facebook for Android switching from old layout to new and vice versa?

I'm using Facebook for Android both on my phone and tablet.
Some time ago I applied for beta testers for Facebook Android app, and soon new version of Facebook app was out, with main difference that instead of three buttons in top bar there were now four, the left bar disappeared, and option to choose between top stories and most recent stories was gone. Also if I scrolled through news feed, and chose an external link, upon going back to Facebook, the app threw me at the top of the news feed.
This is just the tip of the iceberg, and saying that I wasn't pleased is an understatement.
So I got out of beta testers, uninstalled the app and via google play, I installed the standard app. The old layout and options were back UNTIL I turned off the app for a few hours. As soon as I opened it again, the new layout was back. Does ANYBODY have any idea why this happens? My girlfriend has the same app on SG4, with a screensize larger than on my phone, and with regular updates, she has the old layout from the begining?
Interestingly, if I force stop the app in app manager, the old layout returns, but only for a short time because if I leave the app, and open it again in a hour or so, the new layout returns.
Any help would be appreaciated. I would REALLY like the old layout back

Just install apk from 4shared be sure to have unknown sources checked in settings

[Q] Unwanted Screenlock Icons

I had downloaded and installed Firefox and suddenly, two icons appeared on my screenlock. I deleted Firefox and they went away, but I really would like to use Firefox. They are the camera icon int he lower right, and an uparrow in the lower center.
Now, I downloaded and installed Tasker. The icons have reappeared but I do not want to uninstall Tasker.
Anyone know how I can get rid of these icons? I search wide and far and could not find an answer. I am not interested in loading a third party app to remove these icons. Just would like them gone.
Thanks

I always had these Icons in my device, I think it's a problem they don't appear.
Why do you want to remove them? they don't take too much space and doesn't bother at all.
I find them to be annoying. If I wanted my phone to control me, I would buy an iPhone. I know it sounds ridiculous, but I like to have my phone's esthetics the way I would like them to be. For a long time they were not there. And now they show up and I cannot get rid of them. Call me crazy.

How to find hidden apps

I need help from some serious power users/hackers to find out how my girlfriend is hiding apps on her (unrooted) GS6. I'm a medium-advanced Android user, but this is some good stuff. I know that it may have to do with the notification shade, as she constantly checks it to see if there is anything new, but she has somehow (not through normal OS) disabled chimes and icons in notification bar. I believe that she may have "vaulted" apps, but can't find anything conspicuous in the app manager (even when displaying system files). I believe she can basically hide or "ghost" any app so that it doesn't appear in recent app list, app drawer, or app manager. Is anyone aware of such apps?
One thing I noticed that seems a bit different is in her notification access menu (settings/lock screen and security/other security settings/notification access) there is an entry called "Notification" that I don't normally see.
I'm wondering if maybe it's a dual-boot setup where she can choose which apps to hide from the normal boot via a rooted "clone" boot of the OS? Or maybe an easy way/shortcut to root, then hide apps, then unroot?
Any other ideas?
Oh, also: No custom launcher in use from what I can tell; stock Touch-Wiz only.
