App default prompt menu no longer show up

Usually when I select a doc file it will ask me for different app to open, now the screen just gray out with no prompt menu to ask me. This goes for all other file associations, such as browser and music player. I'm unable to open any file at all now. Thanks in advance.

Known Honeycomb bug. Just rotate your screen (e.g., landscape to portrait) making sure auto rotate is enabled in settings. The dialog box will then pop-up.

I really hope Google fixes this bug soon.
I would love to see a count as to how many times this has been asked and answered in these forums alone.

Well, this solution is a lot less radical, yes?
Glad it worked.

[APP] Alternative App Picker - No root needed

This app is used for two purposes:
1. You open a file and when you select an app it is automatically selected as the default app. You want that you must be presented with an app chooser every time you open that file. (This happens in Samsung S6 Marshmallow and might happen in other devices and ROMS).
2. You want the app chooser to pop up but you don't want to press the JUST ONCE button every time i.e you want to open desired app with single tap.
The solution to this is that you need to go and open the file as before, but instead of selecting the desired app you should select APP PICKER.
Then you will again be presented with a list of apps which can open that file. Now you can open that file with your desired app.
Next time you open the file, you will be presented with a list of apps which will also include the App Picker. Now you would not need to select app picker again.
Your problem should now be resolved, that (1) you will always be shown an app picker, and (2) you will not need to press JUST ONCE button.
I have tested this on various apps and 2 devices, but I will be happy to bring more updates if they are required.
Currently the app should work on following:
Text files
Images
Videos
Audio files
Other file types such as pdf, xlsx etc. (all types are impossible to test so please give feedback if something is not working)
Internet Browsers
Email Apps

It would be great to be able to select the apps that are suggested in the resolver list.
In addition, being able to do the same for the Share feature would be awesome! I know that several users (including myself) miss a xposed module that we used on KK.

In the custom Rom I'm using, the share feature already shows single tappable chooser so my app would essentially do the same thing. In fact I'm creating a chooser in this app in the way an app invokes its share function.

Does the share dialog give ALWAYS and JUST ONCE buttons?

The problem I am having is that is does not show up for whatsapp Gallery.
Could you help me out?

Oh i see, would it be possible to implement this, so it gives options for image selecting as there's a few image apps that I like to select images from sometimes. Annoying how the force the app you select to be the default one after.

Well, in the version I am using it doesn't even show the picker as shown in your image. It shows its own internal gallery for image selection.

Imagine you have 10 suggested apps to open a link/file or to share a link/file, it would be great to be able to remove some suggested (useless) apps, to only keep 4 apps for instance.

Oh, If you hold down the Gallery button instead of clicking it should show the picker. Unless you've already picked one and it's defaulted to it.

It will take some time to reach you. It should theoretically work for all file types but I can only test it on the gallery app.

Hi, thank you for updating it. I gave it a try and it doesn't seem to select the App Picker when I try select it.
When I select App Picker it'll just open up the menu again to select a default app.

This is how it works. Without app picker, you would select an app and it would automatically become the default and you will not get the popup next time. But now as you have selected app picker, the app picker is set to default and you will always see a choice of apps. You need to select app picker as default only once.

Turn off facial recognition

Yesterday I realized my S7 shows faces under image info in the Gallery. Is there some way to turn that spying feature off? Through that it connects all the pictures where the face is recognized. I don't want that and couldn't find any options.
I'd be very thankful for your help.
The ROM is 7.0, patched April 17th.

Thanks for sharing your concern with us. Unfortunately, there is no way to disable it at the moment. Indeed, the quick shortcut is an extension of the existing orientation and background play icons so that it can show the additional icons. By default, It will show only 1 icon (Similar to the previous behaviour) until or unless the other options are enabled. As several users are struggling to get the options through menus, it was implemented for their convenience.
However, we will highlight this with our relevant team and work towards providing a better experience to you.

Just updated to 1.10.24... certainly it's not that hard to code an option to hide these "quick shortcuts"...

- Updated to 1.10.27 today.
- Still no checkbox anywhere to disable these new shortcuts that clutter my screen.

Try to uncheck the option to show notification for new suggestions in Gallery Labs.
You can enable it if you go to Gallery settings > about gallery > and tap the version number until it says you have enabled the labs.
See if that will stop suggestions.
