Magnetic port Loose Issues Xperia Z3 - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im really mad at this , my xperia z3 magnetic port loose after a use of 2 weeks with the charging dock , thats mean im loosing waterproof , any solid fix for that ? a glue or something ? sony doesnt respond for that kind of ''issues'' ... **** sony

Just today I started noticing issues on my magnetic connecter/port, and have started to look around. The only information I've found so far is about how Sony isn't really covering this in a manner we'd expect.
*Edit* I do see that several people seem to be gluing the port back in. Not sure if anyone has had more success with Sony or their Vendor. I may, myself, contact T-Mobile at least before I try anything myself.

Mine has been fixed under warranty by UK Sony.
Unfortunately, it came out second time as well.
The problem is the magtron x2. - DO NOT BUY THAT!
Apparently, I am looking for a glue to do the job for myself…
I could send the phone back but that would be the longest solution…

Too strong magnet

the adhesive I've seen recommended is sikaflex 291, which is on amazon - it's a marine sealant apparently

just to add that the black magnetic connectors seem so much harder to find for the Z3 than the white ones, although a german retailer called handyersatzteilshop.de seems to have them, and they ship internationally

I think this could be good for the job. What do u think?
http://m.loctite.co.uk/en/product-overview/superglue/power-flex/power-flex-control.html
http://fs2.directupload.net/images/user/150215/5xude3mt.jpg

seems to tick a lot of boxes, although one or two others had temperature ranges included as part of the sales pitch - I've used that stuff before for general purposes to be honest, and it's quite fluid - when the connector falls out is there any indication as to how the original glue was applied by sony, and is there much risk of the replacement glue seeping into the rest of the phone?

I'm not sure if it would but if it's liquid then it might be hard to cover all holes for water entry. I used a clay adhesive and though it was hard to apply because the area is small, it did a great job of sealing my magnetic port so that I can still have water proof on the device and the port is very strong now.

Do you have a link to the stuff what you exactly used?
Sounds good to me.
Btw,
On Ebay there is a magnetic connector for 6pounds and I have been told that ir has the adhevies layer as well. So might better to buy that.

Water proof Gorilla Epoxy works wonders, used it to fix the LCD to my LG G2 after a screen replacement, it has a 3200 psi rating.

Are y'all yanking out the magnetic charger thing straight out? I usually just snap it off to the side so that I don't apply so much force to the charger port.

Is that easy to apply. I mean the area is tiny and does it make it waterproof?

i just bought a new connector.
What should I use to clean the socket for the connector before I glue it?

You have to mix the epoxy and apply, it's a bit thick and gooey but you can still easily get the required amount. I used a small metal tab to get my G2s LCD fixed in place, as you know the G2 has a tiny bezel, if I used too much it would have gone into the LCD layers, but I avoided that.

sisqoboy, did you manage to fit the replacement connector, and any tips?

[Q]Need new Metal Bezel

Guys,
I dropped my Trnasformer and there is little damage near power button, not big deal but i can't look at it.....
Is there any website i can order new metal bezel or only solution is to buy transformer sleeve to cover it?
thanx
At a guess no since its hard enough trying to order a new charge cable. I think you would have to get ASUS to do it.
I did the same thing. Bent it RIGHT ON the power button and jammed it. I tried to bend it back to normal, but I had already done enough damage. It went back to RMA and came back like brand new. Worth the $$. They didn't even wipe my Prime ROM.
---------- Post added at 09:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:48 AM ----------
I'll also add that the Asus sleeve was worthless to protect the buttons that needed protecting. I am looking for a gel case or something like they have for the Xoom. Otterbox doesn't make a case for the TF.

Plasti-Dip'd my battery cover.

For those of you that aren't familiar with Plasti-dip, it's basically rubber in an aerosol can. It dries matte black in color and it's rubber, so of course, it's nice and grippy . It doesn't hurt that it looks good either. And if you decide you don't want it anymore, it peels off like a piece of tape. It really is amazing stuff.

In the top pic, you can vaguely make out the verizon logo, but it's nothing a second coat can't fix.
I'm going to walk around with like I normally would and check out the wear to decide if additional coats are necessary.

Interesting. I just picked up the S3 and I feel like I have to hold it with two hands at all times so I don't drop it. I'll be interesting to hear how your fix stands up to day to day use.

I would say that rubber, silicone, etc. wouldn't affect reception at all.
Metal, aluminum, etc. would though.
Or metallic substances embedded in a substance which otherwise wouldn't affect reception.

You can find a can at Home Depot or Lowes for like 8 bux. Comes in black, white and yellow.
The one coat job didn't hold long. It started to pull up along the edge. So i'm thinking a quick spray around the edge up into the underside should secure it a bit better (might also fix that creak noise near the volume rocker ). The thinner the better so as to not obstruct the snaps. Will update when completed
Just got a can of black for 5.95 at home depot.

did you spray just the outside of the back cover? i'm just a little worried of my battery getting a little hot and having the plasti-dip melt into the back of the phone... no issues so far? it is a great diy idea, and i'm gonna try it on my extended battery cover. i can't find a decent case at a reasonable price and the 6$ for a can of plast-dip is perfect.
BTW, being a NYer, i blow thru the soles of my sneakers. Plasti-dip +shoe goo= almost brand new soles...
You all should just use Rhinoliner like for a truck bed.. Haha.. Plenty of grip then and no peal

Does ANYTHING stick to this phone?

I'm trying to attach a magnetic plate (for a vent mount) to the back of my honor 8, and this glass surface is like magic, nothing will stick to it! The double-sided tape that came with the plate held for about 5 seconds; hot-glue (my usual fool-proof solution) popped off instantly. Super-glue doesn't bond to the glass.
Has anyone found a reliable way to attach things to the back glass?
(Side note: Pretty as the glass case is, I would never buy buy a phone with it again. Too slippery and too fragile, I cracked the back glass within 2 days of getting the phone.)
Put it inside a case..... Not pretty but then again gluing something on the back isn't either.

But I wouldn't use magnets as it might mess up with the sensors. I´m just guessing here...

I haven't gotten my S3 yet but when I do i'm going to look for a few straps. Probably pick up a leather strap at the samsung retail store but if anyone has any suggestions feel free to post them here.

I like it, although I don't love the gap between the watch and the band - you can see it in the third picture. I'm not sure if it's going to be different with any other band, but seems like it would look better with just a little thicker band around the connection pin.
I had gotten the V-Moro one, which looked nice, but didn't have the fine adjustment of length at the clasp, just the ability to remove links, which left me either too tight, or too loose.

Motong: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EPGZ676/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Just got the Otiom: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MCY96ZE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Doesn't have the fine adjustment, but happens to fit my wrist perfectly. (Only decided to get it because of the great customer service reviews, and the fact it comes with the link changing kit). They have all been difficult to get the links changed - very tight!! This one is easy with the kit. Didn't realize this one was a matte finish, but it's growing on me. I'm thinking I'll keep this one.
There are thousands of bands on Amazon. I just wanted a black metal, oyster-style band, with the quick-release spring bars. You'd be surprised how hard that is to find in 22mm for our watch!

Have you seen any band (like black metallic black or ceramic but except silicone ones) where the edges are not parallel from clasp to springs?
I mean, like the original one from the box, which is narrow near the clasp and is starting to grow wider and near the springs is wide enough to be the over the watch "shoulders" (i don't know the name of that watch part in which the spring is attached).

Yeah, they all have a little bit of a gap. I'll post pictures of both - haven't returned the Motong yet. Again, I liked it - it's hard to tell the difference in the pictures (hard to get good lighting without getting a reflection) - but my pet peeve with SS straps is getting the right fit. I can't stand when they slide, and I just couldn't get the Motong the right length.

No problem. Yeah, you can't really tell in my pictures, but the Motong does have a nice, shiny, deep black, where as the Otiom looks more like the bezel on the watch. But I like it and it fits, so I'm keeping it.
Again, I'll warn you about the difficulty of getting the pins out of the Motong. I was using a hammer with the tool they sent, and the pins wouldn't budge. Broke the tool tip. I emailed them about it, and they told me the tool that comes with it is NOT for getting them out. They said I should be taking it to a jeweler. Just an FYI if you don't already own the proper tool.
Oh yeah, one other thing I should mention - I've seen comments from people that their jeweler charged them $10 - sometimes even $25 - to take the links out for them. That's ridiculous.
My wife took mine into Walmart and told the lady there that she bought it there, and she happily changed it out for her. They don't sell the tool, but it takes two seconds with the correct tool, so I don't feel too bad about the white lie.

Looking closely at it I would guess you would have to take everything apart to get at it. You can experiment with the replacement phone.

part way down they remove the camera. It looks like the glass is part of the camera - ie sealed when camera is made.

I did remove the metal cover on mine - it is very hard - strong double-stick tape - do it slowly and gradually.

i scrolled to step 8/9 doesn't look like it's part of the camera. but thanks for the link i couldn't find this one
there's a few of these on fleabay. You'll probably need a cheap heat gun to get the screen off.http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Motorol...443701?hash=item3f772e02b5:g:fKAAAOSwsW9YwHT3

looking at the pics seems like after step 2 i would try to pry the old glass cover and install the new, if i can pry it from the new housing in one piece without cracking.

My bet is you'd ruin it.

yes it's definitely part of the housing. it's not part of the "accent" and not part of the camera.

yeah probably plastic. I was very careful when I removed it so just pressed it back on. My case would keep it from falling off if loose. Do not impart any bend to it or it won't lie flat.

It looks like there's one in the new camera already attached (link to ebay above)
