I obtained via raffle a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 SM-T530NU . Not exactly a device I would have chosen on my own, but urge to hack intensifying nonetheless. First goal would be to root it. I have found a couple guides, but they require a computer running Windows. My computers all run Linux. Any advice on how to do this via my Linux machines greatly appreciated.
ive found 3 guides for this, but all instruct to use odin. what would be used in place of odin when doing this from linux?

Hello XDA.
I recently got a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 GSM from a cousin asking for me to root it and install CM on it for her. I am quite familiar with rooting, unlocking and installing custom ROMs but that was on Nexus devices. After some searching around the forum, I find it a bit odd & different from how the process of doing so in Nexus devices.
My questions are:
1) Does it work in the same procedure? Unlock bootloader -> Install recovery -> flash SuperSU (root) & ROM
Because that's what I did with my Nexus devices and it worked fine.
2) Does ADB work the same way? Does fastboot even exist in all Android devices?
I haven't tried yet, as I do not have the proprietary cable with me.
3) How do I completely restore back to stock by flashing?
I saw an Odin method (which I am unfamiliar with) but it says, it requires me to be in Android itself. What if I am stuck in bootloop?
Thanks so much.
Hello everyone, this is the first thread I start. I'm basically looking to know if there is a way or ways to manually root a samsung s4 without the (much useful and straightforward, i know) use of a one-click rooting program or similar tools.
Thanks!
I have a Galaxy Tab 10.1 SCH-I925 that has some form of a custom build on it. The settings are locked with an admin password. It appears to be customized for a specific use and I'm trying to determine how it can be restored to a stock image of the appropriate Android build so that it can be put to good use. I've tried searching and find different instructions on how to install a fresh build and IPL to a stock system.
Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks for your expertise.

Well you may be able to use towel root
If not you will have to get access to a pc to be able to root it. Here's a tutorial for that too.

Greetings! I just got the new Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-G920I) and I'd like to root it. In the past I've used Odin and I know people have rooted SGS6 via Odin but since I only have access to Linux, now that's not an option. What method would you recommend: Heimdall (which at the moment doesn't list SGS6 as a tested device) or the manual way described in this thread?
