Fastboot vs Download Mode - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What is the difference between these two modes?

I'm guessing you are new to Samsung and your old phone was an HTC. Download mode is the mode you use to upgrade through odin or kies. Fastboot mode is an HTC function of the bootloader allowing you to access or upgrade with a computer.

I've tried it with the hard buttons way, try to boot from recovery to download and even try it with phone off and pressing the vol - n + n power button then pluging the usb in the phone while connected to pc. My Nokia 6 (2017), TA-1021 is only 3 weeks old and it is stuck on Download Mode

This is my first android device, I was using feature phones previously. I simply clicked on a system update yesterday, and the phone is current stuck on Download Mode after I press the Volume Down and Power Button. I cannot access the recovery mode, even after pressing the Volume Up and Power Button.
I have downloaded the OST tool, both version 6.04 and 6.12, and they have failed to successfully flash the MENA firmware uploaded here. It gets stuck at the "Flashing partion "aboot" (D1C-0-3320-emmc_appsboot_service.mbn)..."
I have also downloaded the Minimal ADB and Fastboot program, but I'm unable to also flash the recovery images.
I had not enabled the USB debugging mode, and I'm currently regretting why I even bought this phone. I should have stuck to my feature phones..
Is my situation recoverable? Please Help.
Patched OST LA won't help if your phone has sbl/aboot partitions from Android 8. You have 2 options - 1) Nokia service center, or 2) open up your phone and short factory test point on PCB in order to enter EDL mode and be able to flash. My advice is go for #1.
Why edl, atleast he is able to go to download mode, so he will be able to follow those step, to downgrade and then use the ost la tool

Samsung devices do not use fastboot, absolutely none of them. There is only download mode(and emergency download mode), recovery mode, safe mode, system mode and a couple of other rarely used modes on some Samsung devices. None of their modes are compatible with fastboot. Trying to use fastboot on any kind of Samsung device is a waste of time. Samsung is compatible with ADB but not fastboot.
If you are trying to use fastboot to unlock the bootloader, that is not how it is done on Samsung devices. Typically, you need to enable the OEM unlock setting in developer options on the device.
If you are trying to flash some kind of custom file, you will have to use Odin or ADB, ADB will require the device to be rooted or you won't be able to flash/modify anything on the device.
