Hi all,
At the moment I am a student at the VU University Amsterdam, doing co-creation research. I am wondering whether it is possible that the members of xda-developers can fill in my questionnaire, and how it is best to do this to avoid any spam events happening.
The survey is done to investigate co-creators within online co-creation communities. An online Co-Creation community is a online network of people, who share the same interest, common identity and social relationships, among admires of a brand or product. Co-Creation is the integration of customers within the production and design process of an organization, to create value, and products to fulfill consumers' needs. An example of co-creation is the Boeing World Design Team, in which over 120,000 people contributed to the design of the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner airplane.
In this case thus consumers who develop own apps for mobile devices in order to increase the quality of that device.
I hope anyone can give me advice,
kind regards,
Roel Kersbergen
VisionMobile has launched their new Developer Economics survey, which reaches across thousands of app developers and provides the data for their famous state of the developer nation reports. Now in its 5th edition, the new Developer Economics survey examines some of the hottest issues of mobile development, such as top mobile platforms, most widely used revenue models, and web vs. native development. Thanks to the sponsorship by BlackBerry, Mozilla, Intel and Telefonica it possible to provide these reports and additional insights, for free, to the entire mobile community. The results will be published in the form of a free report in July.
If you're an app developer, take the 10-minute survey and win great prizes. VisionMobile has 6 devices up for grabs (Two Samsung Galaxy SIII, two Nokia Lumia 920 devices and two BlackBerry Dev Alpha handsets).
We're happy to be part of the Developer Economics research, helping VisionMobile extend their reach and make sure more developers have a chance to make their voice heard. The survey is available at bnry.ws/ ds13 (please remove space )
I appreciate your help in this and hope that you take the survey as all application developers opinions count.
Thanks,

We have a client wanting to add a game into their app. The app we have developed is for the insurance industry. The client believes by adding a game it will attract more downloads and increase returning users. We are not convinced that adding a game will achieve either. In our view people download an app to get to the point. An app needs to satisfy a direct need i.e. a banking app shows your balance. A game seems like an after thought. We are also concerned that the game will have to of a very good standard in order to attract use and not be ridiculed. With the likes of EA Sports spending millions on app game development this is a difficult area to compete. With this in mind we would consider developing a simply addictive game like Pac Man.
I would love to know your views on this subject. Do any apps exists that have managed to offer a game into a 'sensible' app and made it work?
You should ask your client why their app exists in the first place. Is the app designed to aid users conducting business with the insurance industry? Or is the app designed as marketing in order to draw in more potential customers. It is not a good idea to design one product to do two completely different things, as you will end up not doing either thing particularly well. If the client is hoping to increase their customers, developing a separate game app that is free as a marketing tool would be more feasible, as you would have one app dedicated to conducting business, and another app conducting marketing for the company.
agree

Hi Syung
Thanks for your reply. I totally agree. At the client meeting I suggested creating an additional game app to assist in their aim to reach a new target audience. It nice to have someone back your approach - thanks.
