New Firmware for SM-P905 - Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

has anyone tried this firmware, P905XXUANK2 can you please give us your feedback and what is the addition in this version

Just upgraded and rooted, it looks a bit more responsive. and fluid I haven't checked if additional apps have been added as I do not have a lot of spare time in this days. In any case in few hours of use I didn't notice any malfunction.

Updated and rooted (SM-P905), no new apps, no difference, no problem as far as I see.

Yes, it tripped Knox.

NK2 firmware's keyboard always inserts a space when tapping on a suggested word, not only when it is followed by another word, as the previous firmware did.
I installed the Note Pro 12.2 keyboard from the link bellow and it works fine. Root is required.

Does you've flash only the new rom via Odin and direct SuperSu? It is enough to root a device? I haven't found out, what is necessary in Android to received right for root. Linux has groups, password files (hash) and shadow;but Android works a little bit in another way....

No, it's not enough. If you don't care tripping knox, somebody reported he was successful via cf autoroot, otherwise you need to install over k2 firmware a kernel older than june use towelroot and then reinstall the k2 kernel, previously extracted from the k2 firmware.
The latter is what I did. If you're interested I can post the links when I'm back home.

PSA: DO NOT UPDATE TO MF3 - You lose Motochopper, Loki, Rootkeeper and ODIN Downgrade

If you want to keep root, don't update to today's MF3 OTA as it break motochopper exploit and prevents Rootkeeper from working
Some members have sacrificed themselves:

Anybody knows if it break Loki too?
It has been well documented that trying to ODIN back to MDL does not work and causes an immediate fail
If you wish to have the new features then run GoldenEye ROM, a fantastic i9505 MF8 based ROM that runs smooth as melted butter. It also has all latest MF3 additions such as App2SD, audio flickering and sms fix
I have been trying to tell everyone that...
DO NOT UPDATE PERIOD

If you can't root, you can't install custom recovery. Can't install custom recovery, can't loki...
If using customer recovery, I don't think the update will apply.
The question should be answered once root is achieved.

It might break motochopper, but what tells you that once another root method is found, loki will still work? that was my question
It's not going to break loki I don't think, it has KNOX but thats a seperate bootloader that allows apps to run with full security, our phone doesnt boot into Knox mode.

It was made specifically for the active. It will not run on other devices. You would have to modify the apk or make a root method off of it

Might have to do the same thing we had to do in the Motorola Atrix HD - edit some of the XML files out and then flash it though ODIN.
I just got my S4 today and updated it outside of the box. I'm now trying to root.
I know that the motochopper method is broken, but is the odin method broken?

Not the odin method, forgive me if I mispoke. I can't link vids yet, but there's a method on YT that involves this:

The software simply says "PASS" and your phone is rooted.

To late Can't downgrade. You'll have to wait and be patient until a new exploit is found for the new firmware.
To boot I did the same thing. My S4 came with AMDB installed. I updated out of box to AMDL without even checking first in the parking lot of the AT&T store. Got home and luckily found AMDL was still rootable.

[ROMS] Pre-Rooted I9505 Odin Flashable Packages!

I am currently implementing an alternate method of Rooting which I have found to be successful by means of Pre-Rooting the system.img.ext4 file. I have already released Pre-Rooted ROMs for previous models and wanted to continue this development for the Galaxy S4.
Why use this Root Method? Well the main reasons are:
- You have a complete Odin Flashable ROM Package.
- No Insecure Kernels are used or required.
- You can flash these packages on Non-Rooted devices
- The Binary Flash Counter will NOT increase when flashing these ROM Packages.
- And finally, you only have to flash one file in Odin and you have a complete firmware including Root Permissions.
What Root Package is used in these ROMs?
- Busybox 1.20.2 (Newer ROMs)
- SuperSU 1.51 (Newer ROMs)
Previously released ROMs may have an older Busybox and SuperSU package installed.
Please Note: This Root Method does not include a Custom Recovery. This is for people who only require Root Permissions. If you do require a Custom Recovery, you will need to flash this yourself separately.

Just UnZip and Flash the '.tar.md5' File in Odin.

I have my own scripts to fully automate the process and I modify the system image directly and not on the device to ensure a fully clean flashable package. I will be releasing the scripts tomorrow. I have looked at the thread you mentioned and it seems that guy has copied my layout format in some respects and changed it slightly. I have been pre-rooting rooms since the galaxy s2 so it isn't exactly a world premiere! Lol! Here are my sources and please check the thread creation dates so you know I create my own work!

Couple of questions. Is the firmware 1 or 3 part and as it a wipe rom?
I ask because I would really like to keep my apps and data without having to restore either though titanium or cwm, and if it's a 3 part is like to flash without csc to retain my current one.

I've just got myself an S4 on EE (UK) and have been trawling all the threads to catch up on what's going on. (I've been stuck with an Atrix 4G for 2 years!)
Perfectly happy with the stock ROM but just really want to get that Root going too.

Hello people, I am new to Samsung, I usually just buy a used phone to circumvent any void warranty issues (as they are cheaper I sort of self insure myself, I only got the desire new and I rooted it on the 2nd day ). My SGS4 is arriving on Tuesday and it will be new with warranty.
Could you please confirm that there is absolutely no chance what so ever to void the warranty by flashing a pre-rooted rom. I would be quite happy to use the stock rom as long as it is rooted.
I've always used HardSPL, official or unofficial (when available) S-OFF and root on my previous HTC devices and I have never ever bricked a phone.
Thank you for your help
Did you get any further with this at all? I've held off rooting for the moment but if it's going to be a while longer I will just go for it with the current one.

Do you have root? I know there's a way to download and grab the zip from the phone if you have root. Otherwise the other method you suggested may work.
EDIT: Root method is easier as you just download, use file manager to get it from /cache, and then you can upload it for others. I don't know which root methods do and don't work for your device however. Logcat can be done, you'll just be looking through a lot of lines of logs possibly.

its true what you say, i have been trying logcat but it shows a ton of lines, and im searching for the hotword .zip or zip or update and no results give me a URL, maybe samsung is cloaking the update from logcat or they found a way to hide it, in my phone the root i know it works is kingo root, but when im rooted the phone does not let me download the update, it says "your phone has been modified, updates are not available"

Or will an unroot even help as the security (just like knox) might be 0x1, if it works the same way, so no more updates?

Why bother?
Just wait until the firmware gets updated and then Skin releases an update to his rom and use that in ODIN to update your watch.
Even if you did update to something later than NE5 (current) then you will lose root and won't be able to re-acquire it until the developer releases it.

I don't have Skins Tizenmod on my gear. But that is the way to upgrade from now?
So I just go install Skins newest realease?
RIght now, it's just rooted, as I found an guide to it on XDA (not Skins). But should I unroot first or should I just go and install Skins Tizenmod?
Thaks in advance
Skins TizenMod is the most current firmware with all of the add-ons already baked in. The one that you used to root with was already a modified version of the official Samsung firmware. Now there may be other patches that updates might provide... such as recoveries, bootloader, etc... but based on previous incidences from Samsung just ask yourself... "Is that what I really want?"
If yes, simply download it and install it by ODIN.

Now there may be other patches that updates might provide... such as recoveries, bootloader, etc... but based on previous incidences from Samsung just ask yourself... "Is that what I really want?"
If yes, simply download it and install it by ODIN.

What I meant was, I used:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2771470
to root my Gear 2. But if I want Tizenmod instead (if more trustworthy or updates firmware more rapidly) should I just go flash it on my already rooted gear 2 or should I get stock firmware first and then install Tizenmod?
Thanks in advance.

Is there any way to get rid of the "Your Gear has been modified. Software updates are not available." message?

Nougat Beta??

Has anybody been able to enter the Samsung beta Program?
Dumping files for us for G930T? The G930F already posted the Odin files for Nougat Beta
yes
The 14th should be when it's released to the accepted registered beta testers. The dates are posted in the beta app
9th for Sprint, 11th for Verizon, 14th for TMO
Thanks every one, hope someone dump does files for us
Whoever gets the update tomorrow. PULL THR UPDATE ZIP!
If I get it I will and post it. I have ready done this from my wife's sprint edge variant.
Here is how you do it:
You have to be on the latest firmware and not rooted.
If you get the update notification.
Download it, but do not install it.
Then root your device. DO NOT WIPE IT
The update.zip is located in /data/fota/update.zip
Pull it using adb or use root Explorer to move it to the root of your SDCard and then your pc.
Please wait for someone to verify it works before flashing the update or unroot.
Unfortunately I will not be able to pull said update as I do not want to root my device. I require working Knox and other benefits.

After you root you can go back to stock, then flash the latest update.zip you shared with everyone. Knox and everything will work just fine

No. I've rooted and gone back to stock. Knox and Samsung pay work for me with no issues.

Only on the Exynos S7.
We use an engineering kernel that's signed by Samsung for root, so it doesn't trip Knox.
The root method for us doesnt trigger knox.
If I could Pull the update.zip It would be a pleasure but it was Full for register when I tried.
I'll see if I can pull the file for you gentlemen and ladies. I just don't really need root so I have not put attention to the rooting method since the note 5?

Us AT&T users feel left out, so this would help.
