Google play doesn't work after reinstall and recover - General Questions and Answers

Hello. I had rooted phone (sony ericsson xperia pro) according the instruction which are posted on the forum here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1865796. I made it multiple times. Everything was ok. But I had no place on the phone so I decided to uninstall Google Play (via titanium backup). Then I installed it again (after downloading the .apk from the internet) and moved to SD. I had more space, but after running google play app, this notice has appeared : Application isn't working. Then I move it back to phone memory from the SD card but the app still have written the same thing. So I decided to restore the phone to factory settings. After restore the Google play app has not been installed. After rooting and installing the Google play app again --> the same problem. Can someone help? It is not possible to install other apps without function google play app, and some apps doesn't work correctly without it.
Need some advice pls. Thx

MArket apps problem Xperia S

Hey there!
My situation is there are two same xperia s devices with the same stock 4.0.4 . Same google localization and we tried to install dead trigger on both.
One of them showed it in play store and installed without a problem, but the other one doesn't show it and can't install it. When we force to the apps play store page it says its incompactible with the device. But when i go to play.google.com manually sign in with the google account and find dead trigger click on install it starts installing. So dead trigger is solved but there are many apps on the play store that the device doesn't show when we search them.
In the app settings i cleared data and deleted updates. It has not solved the problem.
Any help\idea would be appriciated.
Thanks in advance.

Did you uninstall the play store after clearing data then reinstall? Im certainly no expert but will try help, if that failed, you said your running the same 4.0.4 I remember reading in the build.prop file is your device name, if you have flashed a rom it is possible the device name has changed, according to google play I have a different phone, I am not sure about the Xperia S but it's something to look into perhaps.
If you log into the play store on your PC it will tell you what device it thinks you have when you try install an app.
One other thing I noticed, Titanium Backup advised me that my device id has changed, with the paid version it restores it to the original, not sure if that will work if you didn't have the program before flashing.
Good luck anyway.

Help! Google play services gone!

Hello, my S7 is rooted and I froze both Google apps and Google mail. Now, suddenly, I got an error that the play store needs the google play services and I should enable it.
Well, I could not find it. I rebooted and right after that the play store app itself was gone too!
Please help! No services means no play store, no gmail, no app that I bought, so, almost nothing!
How can I reinstall the play services and play store again?
Could I use a minimal GAPPS for AMD64 Marshmallow? (Does that already exist somewhere?)
Or, could someone create a Titanium ZIP with only these apps from their S7?
btw: Titanium backup is unable to restore anything (SELinux is not in permissive mode, but SU does not allow the SELinux program, somehow.) so I could not backup nor restore.:crying:
Just re-flash the whole stock image with odin, it's the safest bet at that point.
I found aroma installer for amd64 android 6.
Only installed the Google services and play. That, at least, got my play store back.
Now these problems to solve:
- a way to use titanium backup and restore
- a way to free the external sd card so it can be used without those stupid rights
- a normal name for the external sd card

Play Store Has Stopped

Hello everyone,
I have an issue, uninstalled the play store app completely from the system and downloaded the most recent one from an XDA thread. After re-installing it does not work. It says (Unfortunately, Google Play Store has stopped working). Now I've tried some method like clearing the cache and data from both the play store and google play services. I also did a factory reset using TWRP, everything is back to normal except the play store app which did not installed by itself but I had to re download it fro XDA. How can i fix the app so I can use it again? Could it be that is not working cause is not in the system folder anymore? if so how can I put the app back there? Thank you in advance for any help you may give me. :fingers-crossed:

What I did was reinstall gapps
Flash arm 5.1 and full package, you can uninstall the unwanted apps with rom manager or something

[root] Playing around and accidentally uninstalled the play store - how to undo?

So, this is my first time rooting a phone, and once I managed to get it to work, I started playing around to see what capabilities I had now.
In doing this, I uninstalled the play store. I've tried multiple methods to reinstall it, but none have worked so far.
I've tried installing a new play store apk and used systemize to turn it into a system app, but that didn't work (the app crashed on launch)
I've also tried using link2sd but the app wouldn't let me convert to system app.
If anyone else has any tips for me I'd be grateful.
Using a samsung running android 11 - rooted with magisk, recovery method.
Copy it from another device using ApkExport then transfer the installable copy over to the victim device and install.
I haven't tried it with Playstore but it works on other apks even if the donor device is on a different Android OS version.

sadly the only other device i have is a samsung galaxy S2 that is barely functional. I doubt that'll work.
Before you do anything I'd make sure you have a good backup of your device. Copy text messages, contacts, photos, etc all to external storage.
My first thought was just download install APK, but I see you've done that.
Someone else may have a better suggestion, but, if nothing else works, I'd try installing pico GApps to restore Playstore functionality.

Pico PackageThis package is designed for users who want the absolute minimum GApps installation available. In this package you will find the core Google System Base, Google Android Shared Library, Google Play Store, Google Calendar Sync, Dialer Framework and the following Play Store applications:

Try it. It will copied system apks and updates.
I copied apks from a S4 running on Kitkat to my Note 10+. If it loads Playstore will need to update, that may be a problem... or not.
APK Export (Backup & Share) - Apps on Google Play
Manage and extract your apps.

Google Play Store app by type is a normal 3rd-party app. Wondering why you want to convert it to a system app?

Yeah it's a system app on my Note 10+, can't be uninstalled*.
Normally it doesn't crash although it's common for it to not connect to Playstore. It does that if Google play Services is disable but even then it doesn't crash.
* I think, it has a disable option but to find out if there's an uninstall I would need to revert to the factory load first... which isn't something I want. It appears to be as I originally stated.

there is no uninstall option. I uninstalled it through other means as my phone is rooted. Now I'm having issues re-installing it and getting it to work.
My last 2 cents here:
Per definition only apps that are needed by Android OS to work are called system apps and are stored in /system/apps. Other apps - called 3rd-party apps like Google Play Store - may be stored in /system/priv-apps.
BTW:
If you manually install Google Play Store APK then it installs to /data/app directory - as expected.
