[Q] Inspire 4G Quite old NEED ADVICE
Hey there guys. I'm not very active in posting here but I always come here for advice.
I have an Inspire 4G which I bought back in late 2011 and rooted it and installed MIUI on it. Ever since then I have never upgraded or done anything.
Over time the following problems have arisen:
GPS won't work. It will search but won't ever get any satellites.
Accelerometer/Gyroscope won't work. Can't tilt screen for programs like camera or Google Sky
Phone is very laggy. Registers taps and swipes very late. Sometimes it takes 10 seconds for it to respond.
Programs crash quite a bit. Can't really explain why.
Battery doesn't really hold charges well and sometimes will empty at a rate of 1% per minute due to some programs draining it.
I've decided there must be a way to salvage my beloved phone. I've ordered a new battery and will replace my 4GB sdcard with either a 16Gb or 32GB Class 10 card.
I'm guessing Cyanogen mod will be better for my phone than MIUI since it is more common here.
Any advice is welcome, whether regarding mods or patches or updates. Enough is Enough. There MUST be a solution!

Hi to all,
Ever since the release of the Sensation line of devices, there have been a lot of paradigm shifts at HTC, one of which is their willingness to open up to the people who made them what they are today.... us.
With that in mind, if you had questions regarding everything that has been going on at HTC lately (online unlockers, HTCDev.com, OpenSense SDK, etc), what would you ask?
Think of questions and doubts like:
- why is the EVO 3D still S-On even after completing the unlock process?
- why are devices still locked out of the box and require the user to unlock them?
- what's the deal with unlocking and warranties?
- why is HTC slower than Revolutionary?
- what cool stuff can devs do with the new OpenSense SDK and APIs?
Quick note: development related questions are highly encouraged as well!
Please post all your questions in here. I will be making an article in the Portal with the best questions (and hopefully with answers straight from HTC!)
So, fire away.... I will only keep this thread open for about a week or so as I am also posting this in the Sensation forums. Once I gather enough material, I will send off the questions to HTC and will write an article about it shortly.
Happy asking!
My questions would be concerning their kernel releases. 1) Why is the 3D gaming not working correctly? 2) Why after so many releases, there are still HUGE bugs? And question three which in my opinion is most important.... 3) WHY DID THEY WRITE CODE FOR THE 2ND PROCESSOR TO BE OFF 99.99% OF THE TIME!?!?

Awesome questions! Thank you... I will be sure to pass them along.
Why did they decide to put the WiFi antenna where it is?
Why did they give us a dual-core processor phone if that aspect is not really utilized or if when it is it isn't properly utilized?
Also if you don't mind, could you ask them if they are planning on releasing a dock with HDMI out or something of that sort?
I would like to know more about the monitoring/report to base software they have installed. I do hope its not as bad as Apple with its location saving a few months back.
Also why the LCD density doesn't change depending on what size screen we have.
Edit : Big thumbs up on what CPU they picked also with async. Clearly the clever one to pick for a unit on a battery that's on standby most of the day. Maybe the best is for HTC to work with Dev's to give each a choice to run the cores how they like.
OK, two questions:
1. Will we see ICS on Sensation?
2. Why HTC is not officialy present here, taking and answering questions as well as helping developers?
Are they aware of the power button bug and are they going to fix it?
1. Why did both mine and my wife's stock batteries fail after under 2 months of use?
2. Why doesn't the stock HTC recovery console include any kind of nandroid-esque backup capabilities?
Can the Sense launcher PLEASE be updated to incorporate a 4x4 or even 5x5 icon grid?!
In addition, why can we not:
edit the number of home screens
resize widgets
remove widget or icon labels
Why can't we rename our bluetooth devices anymore? If you have 2 identical ones the old feature where you could name them differently is much missed by me.
Why is battery life so bad when there is a push email account via Microsoft exchange? Why is the battery so underpowered at 1520mah for a dual core phone??
Thank you all for your questions. I believe I have what I need for the time being. I will submit the questions to HTC and will post an article in the Portal as soon as they are answered. Thank you all again for your time
I will reopen this thread soon.
Hey guys,
Am new to the XDA. I've installed CM9 ROM. And it's running successfully on my Nexus S. But am facing some bugs like, if I set the CPU to 1.4GHz the phone is getting rebooted automatically. And if i get a notification, am getting the sound and the touch sensitive buttons glows up but not the screen. Also when i get a call only after 3-4 secs the screen glows up.
Please help me out to solve this issue. Am not able to post in the development section as am new to the XDA.
Thanks in advance
Search the development and Q&A forums instead of trying to post in the development forum. That's exactly why the 10 post restriction is in place - to get people into the habit of searching for answers (which are usually there).
Then, if you can't find any help with the search then ask in the Q&A forum for your device.
if its rebooting usualy that's a sign that its overclocked to high, try lowering it down and sees if it works better

GPS???
Okay, Love PAC rom and all, but I've flashed days after and the GPS STILL does not work. Can you guys throw out a fix asap? I need my GPS quite a bit, and this rom is my favorite. Don't want to have to switch back and forth between two roms just to use GPS lol
There's quite a few GPS fixes out for Roms in general you might wanna try:
1 tightening screws under the battery cover.
2. An app like GPS status to fix GPS.conf or check the thread in development dedicated to GPS fixes.
3. Go back to a TW rom get a good GPS lock then reflash your rom.
Or it could be an issue with the Tom itself if no one else has reported issues. Most aosp Roms have things like this worked out.
Good luck I hope this helps. I use GPS essentials to check my satellite count and other info GPS status may do this but my personal preference is the former.
My question is about paranoid and pacmans flagship feature of changing dpi of apps without changing it system wide. I dont know what its called but I asked in paranoid a few month's ago and they said it wasn't there just yet. Is it in pac at this time? I've always wanted to try it.I know its in older builds but last I asked it wasn't in 4.4 yet.
Thanks

Galaxy Gear
Will this ROM work with Galaxy Gear 2?
If not, is there a way to dual boot this with my AOKP ROM?
2 small issues
Love the ROM, but I am having 2 small issues
1. I cannot end a call with the headset button. It works to answer a call and to control music, but I cannot end a call by clicking the button. Is this a bug, or is there a setting somewhere.
2. It randomly reboots while using Waze (GPS App). Any suggestions?
Thanks

Trouble with proximity sensor
Hey guys thanks a lot for this wonderful rom, its really fast and smooth and I would love it to be my daily driver.
I ve run into a small problem with this rom. My phone's proximity sensor malfunctions a little. (Sometimes detects that its against my face/ or in my pocket even though its not! So occasionally turns the screen off even though it shouldn't be doing that)
Normally, when I get a call, the proximity sensor kicks in only after the call is answered, so doesn't trouble me a lot. But since I ve installed this rom, it starts working as soon as I get a call even before it is answered. As a result, at times I am unable to see who is calling me and also have difficulty answering the call. Is there any way to fix this?

Lots of issues
I've read plenty of reported issues that I can say I've been having as well (volume sticking at max in calls, mms not working on wifi, etc.) and I'm here to report another issue that REALLY bothers me.
About once or twice a day, the phone decides to restart, I've found that typing quickly in the keyboard can help instigate this. I really want to like this ROM but I really can't when it does this consistently. So far carbon is superior to every other ROM I've tried for various reasons (PAC was too heavy/had glitches, CM was featureless, Slim was just awful) but it's really frustrating to have an issue like this one combined with all the reported issues.
As a side note changing any settings in the camera causes it to crash and the infamous "Cannot connect to camera" message to appear if the app is restarted.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Phone: Sprint SPH-L710 running carbon build: CARBON-KK-NIGHTLY-20141106-0907 with stock kernel.
(I should mention my messaging app is hangouts and if at all possible I'd like to leave it that way. I did read it might be an app/carrier issue but I'm really hoping someone will tell me otherewise)

Not to be rude or anything but you realize this is a forum for the VZW S3 and not the sprint version...

The link to the new thread from the sprint thread brought me here. Not to mention they are unified now hence d2lte vs d2spr as sprint would've been and d2vzw as I assume verizon would've been. The fact that the link to the "new thread" lead here would lead me to believe this is where they host the unified thread for the new unified ROM that works on all of the unified devices (all s3 devices except the international i9200 I believe)
Edit: I should insert here that I would've posted on the forum had it let me, but xda wanted me to post here instead. Honestly since the unification of ROMs it's often been confusing finding what places apply to your device. I'll be reposting this in the sprint Q&A if it exists, but I do still believe it is relevant to the rom in general.

Sometimes the redirection of threads confuses me especially the Q&A ones that always seem to claim that the OP/developer asked for, when I've noticed most times that isn't even the case
