[Q] DUMB GUY...deleted backup files - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Someone know anything about how I might be able to recover my TF300T. I am stuck with the issue of only being able to get into APX mode. Running Xubuntu and I can see it in APX mode. When I run the sudo ./recover.sh command it looks for my create.bct file.
It never found it. I swear I put the files in the same folder as everything else.
I must have deleted the files when I installed the dual-boot of Windows 8 and Xubuntu. Stupid me.
Is there any way of finishing this or does someone have their tf300 files who may have got rid of their tablet?
I just want to get the files to see if I can get it running. I can work from there.
I am probably screwed, right?

The bct files and recovery files are unique to the tablet, so you can't exactly use someone elses blobs.
You're free to try using it if you want: https://app.box.com/s/7badykf3m2jx7ijli6hf

[Q] Borked my gTab good! Little help maybe?

I've tried every method I could find or think of to get out of this problem before posting here. Any help I can get would be appreciated. My gTab seems totally bricked. If I try to boot normally, I just get a blank screen. It powers up, but doesn't go through any bootloading process.
Recovery mode pops up a screen saying "Recovery key detected" and just freezes there. Won't recover any Update.zip I try.
Can't get adb to recognize my device no matter what I do. I've given tons of forums the run for my money (about $300 considering the price of the gTab). I need help quick! I really like this tablet and don't want to scrap it for something else.
If anybody can help with a solution, I'll update with a tutorial on my original post because I'm gonna take notes about everything I do to get this thing up and running again. I'm really close to getting adb to recognize my device on Windows. I'd try it in Ubuntu, but my Broadband2Go doesn't seem to work well with Ubuntu even though some people seem to have solved that issue as well (but that's another problem in itself).
did you try an APX mode restoration?
nvFlash is your friend
here are the instructions to restore your Gtab to Stock origional

You don't really need ADB nor do you need to to install the complete Tegra Development environment. For Windows, just do the following:
1) Download the base USB driver here http://www.myadventvega.co.uk/SystemUSB.zip and extract the files into a new folder somewhere.
2) Plug your tablet into your PC and browse to the folder created in step 1 to manually install the driver when prompted. If you've already plugged in your tablet before, you may not get prompted for a driver so go to your "Device Manager" in Control Panel and find your tablet, should show up as "APX" or something else with a warning symbol. Just right-click on the driver name and choose "Update Driver software". Then browse to the files you extracted
3) Then follow the instructions that bobtran links to above, post #4.
Easy with my Linux
I learned to nvflash my tablet on my linux box in about an hour. you can use you windows box to download the files and flash drive to move them over to your linux. once I had all the files and place them all in the SAME correct folder.. I navigated or cd to that folder and just ran the linux script, I have it memorized at this point. I had a great time and there was nothing to it just follow the instructions here for linux, get the files and put them all in the same folder correctly - nvflash and nothing to it. really awesome to be on the latest build.. completely different that the original that came with it when I purchased it.

I enjoy my WinVista but to really make life easy when there is a real problem I use my linux with android.. no drivers needed and they talk like old friends
Good news so far. Got broadband working on Linux. JDK up and running. I tried all of the Windows methods you guys mentioned. Driver was installed and recognizing my tablet fine, but ADB was a no go on Windows. Now gonna work this problem through on Linux. Thanks for all the input though. I'm getting more help than I expected already.
I think nvflash recognizes my device, but it's not flashing anything onto the drive. I just get the following output:

Thanks makto! That was literally everything I needed to get it up and running again. I've bricked my gTablet before, but never to the point I couldn't sdcard flash it. Thank God for nvflash!!
Did you try placing a rom on your removable SD card and recover to it? It sounds like you tried a bunch of things and finally had success, but that would have been the first thing I would have tried.
Of course I did. I've done that multiple times before, but for some reason I couldn't do it anymore. After I flashed my tablet with nvflash, it hasn't been reading external SD cards well, so I think that might be part of what was wrong with it before.
So I think I actually bricked my gtab. Yesterday I decided to put it back to stock to start over from scratch. I've been swapping roms (Vegan, tntlite, ect) and found the seetup I liked but wanted to setup from a clean start. I've used nvflash to revert before so that was a no brainer but now when I try and use nvflash (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861950) it just stops part way with a bad data error. The one difference this time was I tried the format rom first(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974422. )
Any thoughts on how to recover when nvflash just stops working?
Yep give nvflash a try

you're really helpful.
Finally got my gtab to take the rom and used the OTA updater to get to latest stock but now I'm stuck in APX. Hope you are having better luck then I am.

[Q] Bricked/need help

I had to post in the Q&A since i'm a newb here, but my transformer is bricked, and i tried the unbricking method seen in the development thread and I keep getting stalled at "waiting for bootloader to initilize"
does anybody know how i can fix this and get a stock rom on my transformer incase i need to rma it.
I am also running VMware as i do not have a windows pc at the moment, so i don't know if that has anything to do with it.
Any help is much appriciated, thank you.
Not sure, but does VMware support USB devices?
it does, or at least it shows apx mode when it's plugged in. I may need to just try it on an actual windows computer though :/
EDIT: for some reason it worked right after i posted that. I didn't really do anything different, htc-hd2 is just good luck i guess!
Running VMWare on what machine? A Mac ?
Can't you dualboot Windows 7 with BootCamp ?
I dont have a mac, just going on what I have heard
VMware is probably your problem. Boot up a Linux live CD and run this: Stock Honeycomb 3.2 (Actually if you have a mac you can run this too, just run extract the archive and run the bash script from the terminal)
It's a tar ball that I put together that contains the files needed to flash a stock image of 3.2 via nvflash. The archive is about 300mb IIRC.

[Q] ADB, RSA, Android 4.2.2, Android Commander

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmvCpR45LKA
I have seriously searched EVERY DAMN INCH of the Internet for this. Okay, obviously, I've seen all the posts like this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2351390 (I actually wanted to reply there but can't, sad)
And I've done all those steps, I've uninstalled everything, I've reinstalled everything, I've called my mom to tell her she wasn't lying to me about me being special, I've done it all ten times. This is what happens:
System stuff: Windows XP, cyanogenmod 10, ADB and Apps set to root, USB debugging on, Android 4.2.2, latest Android Commander, Galaxy S3 Sprint, Android Debug Bridge version 1.0.31
I open cmd and type adb devices, it shows me a device is available:
adb server is out of date. killing...
* daemon started successfully *
List of devices attached
ba0a8be4 device
I open Android Commander, it has a blank line that's highlighted blue, I click "OK", it says:
Connected device has status offline and cannot be used. Please reboot your device.
I reboot my device, same thing happens.
Does anyone have any ideas? I'm seriously about to just flash it to 421 but I hate just giving up. I hate it almost as much as I hate asking for help. I spent 7 hours last night (I was up until 2am!!) and then another 4 or 5 today just trying to figure this out. I'm completely lost here. Oh, another thing, since I'm at it, does anyone know how to delete the saved RSA key from my phone? I looked in that data/adb place that link said and renamed it but it didn't seem to reset the key... maybe I need to restart, I'll try restarting after I rename it. Yep, I bet that'll work. It probably had it in memory. Anyway, pointless rant about RSA done. I hope someone has some ideas before I resort to just sitting in the corner, cuddling up with my phone, and crying until my mommy tells me I'm special.
Another possibly important thing is that Droid Explorer works briefly (I can see phone's files come up) but then crashes when I try opening anything.
It also, as I was just playing with it, seems like Android Commander causes the adb server to become outdated. Does that mean anything? I just ran adb devices, then tried AC, then did adb dev again and it needed to restart the service. I don't know if that means anything. Just something I noticed.
Oops I had to update the link, I just realized I copied the wrong one from the page suggestions it does. This now has the one I meant.
Did you find a solution? I am having the same problem.
I gave up. Flashed stock, then cm 10 with system and cache wipes then cm 10.1 without wiping system. Haven't tried with my computer since I mostly use my phone. I'll check later and update this and let you know. I would have just kept stock but my god that stuff sprint puts on sickens me......
I found a solution and it works.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40276190&postcount=1488
Yeah, I even said in my message that I made sure that was up to date. I was able to connect to adb and see it show up as a device now but Android Commander doesn't work. I did find out that adb push (and I assume pull) works but that probably worked before and I just didn't try. Anyway, I'm not too concerned. Glad you got yours figured out.
Hope this helps!
I managed to get android commander to work by installing the latest adb with the sdk manager and then I copied adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll and AdbWinUsbApi.dll to the bin folder located where ever you install android commander!

How to factory reset a Surface Pro that's been upgraded to 8.1?

Hey.
I'm trying to perform a restore to leave my surface pro 1 back to factory defaults. When I try to do it, it says some files are missing and that I should use a media with those. However I never created a disk for that.
Did some research and found out that people who have upgraded to win 8.1 all experience this issue.
I also tried to download the win 8/8.1 isos from microsoft be it won't accept my product key...Then, I downloaded a legal windows 8.1 iso that would need to be activated after being installed. Put it in a flashdrive and then the surface didnt ask for the missing files anymore. It reset all fine. HOWEVER, I would always need that flashdrive to make it work. As Im planning on selling it, thats not the case.
I just wanted it to recover from the recovery partition, but apparently, it's not properly "seeing" it, as it keeps asking for additional files.
Im clueless. How do I make that partition work again?

I think it's a bug, because my Surface Pro 2 which came with 8.1 has always done that. I needed to pull a recovery drive from my dad's Toshiba U925t to recover mine after a bad Linux dual boot
Well thats just bad. I guess the right question now would be how to fix the recovery partition.
Havent found anything about that yet though.
Have you tried searching for "create recovery" and creating a new flash recovery drive? I did this after updating my Surface Pro to 8.1. It creates an 8.0 recovery but I was able to create it from an 8.1 system. You can then boot from the flash drive and do a refresh.

8.1 USB Recovery EN-US Surface RT

Clean Install RT 8.1 from MS Surface EN-US 32gb.
Use this USB Image Tool to write the file to your USB drive.
This has to be done from a Windows 8 PRO, or Windows 7 computer. Will not run on RT.
This WILL make the USB Bootable! (unlike many .iso files)
http://www.alexpage.de/usb-image-tool/
Download the Image Here:
SurfaceRT8_1RecoveryEN-US.zip 3.53 GB
https://mega.co.nz/#!WAo2HZyT!RiKB1jVVd_LRMHf9ynpkbmYheQp5ZcG8oaPvm7Vt5d4
This was made with an 8gb flash drive. I believe you will need an 8gb flash drive, or to mess with options for smaller drives. Actual image data should be ~2gb.
What to do after downloading Files..
Can you please tell how to install it..

hi did you come right with the recovery image.
Hi, I know this is a bit late, but when I follow this, I get stuck on not being able to select the keyboard language. I believe it is because the screen is not responding. I have a surface 2 that is running windows 8.1 rt, but is stuck on not being able to repair the installation. When I run bootrec /rebuildcbd, I get a message stating unable to find any windows installation. Is there a way to boot up to back up files to a usb?
Thanks!

Hey,
I'm actually surprised that it let you boot-up a Surface 2. I was under the impression that the image was just for the Vivo Tab. I unfortunately don't have the table anymore so I cannot check for you. I'm sorry about that.

Thanks, I managed to figure most of it out. I had managed to get a backup from the surface Microsoft website but I was trying to avoid a complete reinstall as I was trying to save files for a friend. Unfortunately the c drive was blank except for a few log files and then there was an x drive. Fortunately I found the "dir \*.doc /s" and it didn't find anything, so I had to reinstall everything anyway.
