The PURGE
Since I am patiently waiting for Lollipop to come out for our device, I decided to make a flashable debloat script which will be called "The PURGE."
I have had many requests to continue development for my ROM and found it easier to make this vs. maintaining a ROM. With that being said, I will be making other versions of the script but wanted to start off with a bang with an EXTREME debloat script!
Disclaimer:
I am not responsible if your phone blows up! This script will remove anything listed below if it is on the device. If it is not on the device it will not do anything! Therefore, if you use something that's listed to be removed, then do NOT complain. I am sure there are many on here that can help you get the one or few things you do use back on the device without a problem as well as a lot of the applications can be installed from the Play Store or simply taken from a stock (non debloated) ROM.

-/system/etc/secure_storage/com.sec.knox.store (Knox related, usually also removed by ROM devs by default)
-/system/tima_measurement_info (Not sure but not needed)
Keep in mind since this initial version is the most extreme, using it can and will render things such as UPSM and SHealth to not work similar to my Extreme Syndicate ROM.
If you find anything on your device that isn't already removed please let me know so I can add it to the script! I will also be updating it as I go and as I find more things to remove.
I do not have a estimate, but I would imagine what is removed with this script will remove 600-700+ MB from the ROM itself! I have tested on Ricks Rom v19.5 and system RAM is down to ~800mb which has basically freed up about 1gb of system RAM which in turn allows for a smoother faster and leaner device!
This did take some time.. Of course I already had a strong idea of what to remove based on the work that I've already done with Extreme Syndicate but the script had to be typed up manually with each application/file as well as I had to do a clean install more than once to find some straggling applications before I got it to how I wanted it!
All I ask is that you at least hit the thanks button and if you can spare some change don't be afraid to donate!
Eventually I will be making specific debloat scripts to remove certain applications such as only removing Verizon bloatware, or only removing Samsung bloatware etc. I am also messing around with Android Studio to hopefully one day be able to make an application that is device specific that will automate the process by selecting it in an actual application. This would sort of be like an Aroma installer except an application that you can run on the phone while its booted up and no need for recovery.
As always, thanks for trying out The PURGE and let me know what you think of it!
Install Instructions:
1) Download the Zip file
2)This should work on any stock ROM! (If the files aren't there to be removed it shouldn't do anything at all. I recommend to do a clean install, let phone boot up and then go into recovery and flash it. This is because it does remove the setup wizards so it's recommended you set the phone up first and then reboot to recovery and flash the script.)
3) Boot into recover and flash the Zip
4) Done!

yea, figured id make a list lol. i did leave in clocks, calculators, calendars etc... theres also more hidden stuff i can remove but that is the bulk of it..
the sounds, launchers n some of the apks are large as well and there are 3rd party apps that are smaller in size but that is where a rom is more suitable lol
Im alsothinking about making it so it will add build.prop tweaks n other stuff but thats later down the road lol
Glad your still highly active in the forums and churning out some goodies....
Looks nice trying this on optimal as I type this

let us know how it goes! I think most stuff removed shouldnt affect much on other ni2 roms.. might however on eclipse which is highly modified.. or alliance.. long as they dont use any of the removed apps listed here for anything major then it should b good
I also was making a rom (Extreme Syndicate v2.5) but on first boot the toggles wouldnt come up and settings button from drop down didnt work (works from settings in app drawer).. so i gotta figure that out when i have time.. unless of course misterxtc or someone knows how to fix it then i can upload it and have thread reopened.. it has much the same as v2.1 (not themed) but call lag issue is gone lol it mistve been something i removed from system folder.. its around 500mb in size since i left some stuff in this go around

So far no issues, fc's anythi MG of that nature. Optimal is running somewhat smoother than it already does and definitely nice to be under the 200 system app mark now as I was unsure of some things to remove. No complaints here so far
yea it flash in a split second too lol
It took maybe a quarter of a second to flash hahaha. I was impressed lol
Thank you so much Elliwigy! I was one of the people asking for this! Haha. My only question is - On Extreme Syndicate I had some issues connecting to my PC as an MTP device/being able to plug in and view it as a drive to easily drag & drop files to and fro. Should I expect anything like that from this script or no?
You're the best! Now for the black&white... lol

Nope.. it doesnt remove the mtp like the rom did so plugging it in a pc should work out the box
Thanks for making this elliwigy. Is there a way to edit what is deleted? I tried changing the updater-script but when I went to flash it said something about the binary not working.
I wanted to leave the google stuff (I know I could re-download it but I figured why not leave it) and I really wanted to keep the emergency alert stuff (cmas). I figure the emergency alert is good to have, in case of an emergency

All you really would need to do is from a pc open the zip using 7zip and then go to the updater script, right click and press edit.. remove the line you want to keep then go to file and save.. it will ask you again to save in zip and say yes.. it should work.. ive had issues trying to edit updater scripts on the phone if thats what u tried

Thanks for the 7zip tip. I previously extracted the zip, edited the script, and then remade the zip. Something didn't work right, but the method you mentioned did. Thanks!
was hoping there would be a list of removed apps for the "perfect debloat" eventually. thanks for the post up. This helps with rom creation as well
Although, does this cause the issue I was having with Extreme Syndicate about not having the multi tasking work at all? softbuttons and hardware bring up no multi tasking for me

yea.. edit the zip and exclude the multiwindowtrayservice from the updater script or simply add it back to rom if u use it..
not really an issue since i do not use multiwindow at all as do a lot of people i consider it bloat lol

Standard disclaimer applies - figured I would put this just in case.
Okay, well first off I am going to start by explaining the thread title. EvilHero is basically what I call my device (evilvoice + hero) and this is a 2.1 Rom, I attached a .001 to let everyone know what stage it is in, which is the first stage. It works in what I set out for it to do. This is not for everyone, and may be only for me, but I am posting it here to get a little help and also to let other people decide for themselves if they want to use it.
This started because of Firerats MTD mod and CM6 and the inability to update my prl or do any ## codes. In using the MTD mod, CM6 RC1 only required around 105MB on system, but most 2.1 roms required a lot more space. While it is not hard to redo the whole MTD mod, it is very time consuming and you run the risk of messing up your phone until you get home, or at the very least, flash the rom you had on it before until you got home to a computer. I did a lot of searching for the smallest 2.1 rom around. This happened to be PureHero 2.1 by Konikub. I did not use any special tool to figure out size, just looked at how large the zip file was and went with the one that was the smallest, there might be smaller Sense 2.1 Roms out there, but thats what I used to select PureHero as my start.
Okay, so on to what I have done. Using PureHero 2.1 as the base, I ripped out everything except the ability to make phone calls, visual voicemail, SU, busybox, contacts, and the ability to use ## codes (including applying a MANUAL PRL update - for some reason, lost the Device Self Service tool in removing too much stuff, but no biggie since I can do a manual prl update). With this, I reduced the /system size to a mere 92.4MB...its even smaller than CM6 (a little misleading here, but I just meant that for the standard install that I was using of CM6, this rom was smaller, not that cm6 cant get smaller than this one). This is with GSD.apk on my system (but since removed in what I will be posting). It is quite stable after a first setup (meaning set your phone settings how you want them, you will probably get FCs and stuff, when done, reboot and you should not get the again except for the ones I am outlining below)
A couple of things to note:
Settings > Accounts & Sync FCs
Settings > Personalize > Default ringtone is the only thing under here that doesnt FC
Settings > Connect to PC even though it is here, it actually does nothing, even though I have the PCSCII.apk file (or whatever its called), it relies on more than just that file. Doesnt matter, I can still mount the sdcard in adb shell.
There is no market, text messaging, browser, email, video player, music player, youtube, email...like I said PHONE, ## codes, and that is PRETTY MUCH IT!
This was created to mainly be something to switch to do a prl update and switch back to CM6. Over my course of testing this rom, I have ditched the switching back to CM6. This is a modular rom - ADD WHAT YOU WANT! To give an idea: I added Opera for browser, Handcent for SMS (no MMS - need help!), K-9 for email, APKTor for market (yea not as great), I did end up adding Youtube back, andLess for music playing, have not decided on a pic viewer yet (havent even looked), Sprint Nav. Im not done adding stuff to mine, this is just what I have so far. None of these are included in the download as this is an "add your apps" rom - these are mine, you have a choice of what yours are. The only things outside of the basic Android system that is coming included is AndroZip, ADW Launcher - cause its damn near perfect, SuperUser by chainsdd, Visual Voicemail (everything but AndroZip was already included, I just updated them).
Some issues I would like help with to resolve
1. No MMS - HUGE ISSUE...maybe its because I took out MMS.apk...actually, I will put that back in and see what happens (for .002 - probably tomorrow night)
2. No market - HUGE...I never realized the benefit to the market until I had no access to it. There is nothing anywhere close to it. AppBrain requires market, so that wasnt going to be a replacement, APKTor was all I could find. My question is this: Can the market be put back in without too many google things being added back? What apk files have to be included for Market to work, I know it requires a google account. If I dont get any help, I guess I will figure it out myself, just wondering if anyone could take a look and help me out.
3. busybox can not be updated for some reason - also, when issuing a parameter on a command, it errors, but when busybox is put before, it works
Code:
df -h does not work
busybox df -h works
4. bash can not be added (or nano, remount) from the kitchen
5. Connect to computer does not work, I kept that stupid file...if its not gonna work, Im pulling the file.
6. Collins battery tweak does not work, I tested a Zen Kernel and still nothing, I guess it does not matter as I have almost everything turned off, the battery lasts a long time. Remember, adding stuff that uses data or GPS will drain the battery the same as any other rom, but this is made to compliment you...This is why I would like to get the battery tweak to work with it, so it will have better life when things get added.
Maybe people can reply with what they have added as their apps (some will be the same as it all depends on what you can find without a Market)
Credits:
Code:
Damageless (for such a great base)
Treve (for assisting D in everyway possible to put out a first class product)
Flipz (for the color sliders)
Darchstar (for AOSP aspects)
sdotcarlisle (for the amazing bootscreen)
gbhil (for his insanely awesome Kernels and overal GREATNESS)
JsChiSurf (for rocking the HERO HOUSE finding all these cool ways to change up things!!)
Avalaunchmods + TrevE (for the audio fix)
VinceOB - (for showing me good stuff)
Konikub (for putting together PureHero)
Most of this was copied from the PureHero post as he thanked them in that post, I feel since I used his as my base, I needed to thank the same people including him - If I did wrong, let me know
Removed Rom links
I am putting both up, I would try the unsigned if you can flash it, for some reason (in my tests) the signed did not work as well as the unsigned. Also, this has MMS.apk added, it is untested, but really should work as I only removed the app. I will be doing my own test on this rom later tonight or tomorrow.
PS. I am not a developer, I just removed things, edited files in notepad++ and tested. If something does not work, please bear with me in finding out what caused it. As I said previously, a lot of stuff is removed, so expect that. The only FC's I experienced is one for putting the power control widget on the launcher (1 time), and the 2 places in settings. Thanks and let me know what you think
Nice concept, would love to see where this goes.

There is actually more stuff needed, but yea, gtalk is def needed. Its funny, someone in the G1 forum posted what it depended on, and besides one framework file, I removed everything else. I really hate the implementation of gtalk. It runs all the time and I dont use it. In the same G1 thread, the poster was talking about editing the package so it wasnt dependent on anything, I may have my programmer buddy take a look at it when he gets a chance to see if he can finish the work. If there was a way for the market to not need googleapps.apk or gtalk/service.apk I would be ecstatic, as it stands now, I dont see me putting the market back.
Also, Rom links have been posted
And actually, just for the sake of argument, I modified cm 6 and gapps to minimize the size on my phone, and I have it at 89 mb but sol full functionality. I even will have maps and nav and voice search and all, but on data partition only. In could shrink a lot more actually, but don't feel the need.
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
cm6 has the ability to get real tiny...if I were to remove the same things, Id say itd be around 50-60mb (maybe im just dreaming here), the issue with cm6 is that fact it does not allow prl updating. I included the newest prl in the zip which gets dumped to your sdcard...j-i-c. Android 2.2 is smaller than 2.1 - there is no way a 2.1 rom will be smaller than 2.2 with the same functionality, it just wont happen, I know that, I just wanted a small 2.1 that did prl ...maybe sprint will release a 2.2 we can use...then I will look into slimming it down like I did this one.
This was never meant to go head to head with cm6...we are talking about 2 different systems - I guess I should have pointed that out...2.2 has the potential to be WAAAY smaller than even this one.
This is a great idea and Im going to watch your progress, Im hoping someday they figure out how to get prl updated on 2.2 Such a pain right now updating it. Thanks for your work!

>> What started as a HDPI port the Hero's [email protected] ROM (froyo) ended up in a full-fledged gingerbread build.
Optimisations: both kernel as well as userland; there is no need to get into the technical details & how this rom differs from others; I'm not a supporter of self-propaganda. See for yourself.
>> [email protected] is geared towards my private needs. It certainly isn't built to "satisfy the masses", although it should be able to serve as a stable and performant base for most of you. My personal philosophy is minimalism, performance and stability, which is why you should bear in mind that this is an AOSP/vanilla ROM (no Sense or other bloated UI). There is thus no need to upload screenshots.
>> You need to install all your favourite software. Since everyone has his own preferences, these would be treated as bloat by some people should they have been bundled with the release. Which is why I uploaded a skinny version.

Work in Progress:
- I'm working on what I call, InstaExec (IE).
The DHD is the perfect device to test it on (thanks to its 768 MB RAM).
Techie details:
Copy over /system | /data to a ramdisk (early in initrc), then do a switch_root and continue init script. The cons are a slower boot, of course. Syncing after-boot changes is on the todo list. Using IE will also imply that you're quite confident in RARE shutdowns. It would be a pain to wait for a couple hundred Mb's to get copied over each time you boot.
A crypted version is also in the works (although that would only make sense for /data/data, /data/misc and /data/system)
They key file HAS to be present in /mnt/sdcard, otherwise crypted mount will fail.

I have reported this project for the Evo 3D (or another at least dual core/1GB RAM device).
The DHD is not capable of handling the pre and post boot routines for phones requiring a reboot quite often.

I posted about it in the general forum. Just do a search. ;]
Okay guys, a test version is ready. Before I upload it, Lemme know a few things:
What apps you CAN'T live without (stock apps)
I want to get rid of bloat.
For example: why would you need 10 apps and widgets for Facebook and Twitter when you can replace that with TweetDeck?
That won't be a problem with the AOSP version I'm working on which will ultimately be [email protected] for DHD.
I say remove:
Amazon MP3
Blocked callers
Desk clock
Facebook
Friend Stream
News
News & weather
Peep
Quickoffice
SoundHound
Stocks
Teeter
Twitter
the only stuff i use in sence roms is music, contacts and calendar ... oh and the clock ;-) the rest can go for me ;-)
I could probably live without most of the stuff on there, would love to keep the big clock weather thing though. This is my first android phone so looking forward to playing/learning with it.
I've rooted my phone as per Evostances instructions, will i need to do anything else before I can flash a rom?

You're doing that through fastboot on your PC, right?
Copy the zip file to your SDcard and reboot into bootloader (and press power once there)

Yes, i was triying through fastboot, but then i tried from the bootloader with the zip, and everything went allright. Now ur rom is working perfectly! Thnx a lot! I really don´t like sense, and before i had a nexus one and i loved it´s interface, so this is the closest to it.
Btw, could u build a rom completely empty? I mean, with no so many apps, just the basic ones like Gapps and that´s it? I´m the one who likes to have just a few apps.....
Thanx!!!
awful
this rom is awfull, why the hell did you add other useless apps in place of the htc ones? that 8pen app is crashing constantly, i can't bring up the keyboard so can't enter my credentials for market.
I'm highly disapointed, moreover i can't go back to the official htc rom, i need a windows PC to run their ****ty RRU...

What i did is uninstalled 8pen, download by pc and moved to the sdcard any keyboard (better keyboard, for example) and that´s it.
Appart from that and lots of useless apps, the rom is working perfectly for me.... keep in mind that it´s a test rom....give it time....

kind of rude, aint your cup of tea just say that.
i don't see you doing anything to help?would like to see you try.
getting back to stock is easy from a non windows pc. its called fastboot. search for it and learn hot to flash system.img
if you're nice enough i'll load my rom up which is stock+su with amazon and soundhound removed. if you're nice
sorry
yeah i'm sorry, i was angry because it's late here and i need to sleep, well except the apps and the 8pen stuff the rom works quite nicely and is smooth, where do i get the system.img file ? i tried to extract the assets from the .exe to get the rom zip file but once i get it i cannot open it, says unauthorized or something like that...
Hmm, I have had no issues so far, that is why I uploaded the files.
As for 8pen, just hold on menu in any input field and select input method -> Swype.
Or disable 8pen from Keyboard settings menu.
So a fair amount of people are using Androidiani Open Recovery, myself included now, but I have a few questions about it. Namely what everything does. In the menu there are all sorts of things to do and use, but I am not sure what they actually do. I know about memhack, kernal optimization and zipalign, but what about all the other Froyo mods and tweaks in there?
For some reason, I can't attach a screen shot to this, but some of them are Istall Mod -conservative/interactive, Memory manager, vm heap size,...
The most helpful feature of AOR is the possibility to check the sd card. No need to plug the card to the pc for checks.
I also use zipalign after restoring my apps in a new rom.
With the adblock script you can update the host file to prevents ads in apps or in browser.
So, the one thing about Androidiani is that it's developed by A853 users, so I've never touched the baseband utilities out of fear it will do something bad.
It's nice to have access to system apps to get rid of what I don't want (or pull out a system apk) after a new flash. I also keep a copy of the latest system apps as a theme so after a new flash I can just apply the "theme" & have all the current versions of Maps, Facebook, etc.
I've never tried the kernel optimization because I wasn't' sure if I should use the froyo or the eclair as we still have the eclair kernel.

I know better than that. Baseband messing is Badddd! I am more interested in the Memory tweaks and things like that.

I tried the one for Froyo and not sure if it worked or not but let's just say it didn't "screw" anything up (as far as I know). I did have to re-root though and re-allow all the superuser permissions and overclock again. But as far as performance, it didn't hinder anything and it might be a plecebo effect, but I feel it is somewhat more stable. Could be in my head though.
Mioze7Ae ~ This is one of those times I was talking about in the SUperoneclick question where I had to use Unversal Androot and it worked just fine.

Fix permission will work if it was a permission problem.
Got a question about this. After a few weeks of flashing the special, Wanhu, CM6...I noticed that AOR wouldn't let me flash update.zips for some reason. Awhile ago, I had this problem and either 3rdstring or Mz advised me to reinstall AOR. I did and everything worked. Now that the the CM6 is out and primarily done through updated.zips, I found a problem again. When AOR installs, it loads up a bunch of pix that show up in my media gallery. If I leave them in there, I can use the update.zip just fine. If I delete these pix, then it creates the problem that will not let me use that function. I can probably put a .nomedia in there somewhere, but not sure where. Has anyone else had this problem. It is AOR 3.3 in case you are wondering.
I read through this thread a week back. Im now using Androidiani with stock CB 2.1 Could anyone please guide me to which optimizations to use with 2.1, how they work and what works on our XT720? I would really appretiate it thanks!

What I have used is the Zipalign, obviously the wipes and resets, the fix permissions works really well (especially when flashing in between ROMs), Mchlbenner uses the Overclock settings. Haven't used anything in the memory settings like VM heap or anything like that.
Probably the things I use the most are in the menu utilities and the SD and SD-ext scans to make sure card is working. I usually do this before I flash a ROM and then once after I boot up totally. Seems redundant but it has saved me a card before b/c of a bad partition.
Mioze added a script for link2sd/app2ext (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1177020&page=61) sorry don't know how to put just a plain "here" and have the link embedded.
If you use any of the modding menus, use the Eclair one b/c it is based off the kernal version. I know that 3rdstring uses AOR quite often to apply apps and such. May want to ask him about setting that up.

No problem. I think it's time we start creating our own baseband files for XT720. I've been poking around inside the Androidiani ones. I think they're just updates that only mess with the /system partition, so maybe worst case your phone stops working with the network until you get the right baseband back in. I think I know where to extract files from the SBFs to create our own, so we should be able to start making some XT720 specific ones.

I think the hosts file in the adblock is way old by now. At least it seems I start to get ads every few weeks and have to install a new hosts file. I just hosed my phone so I can't check, but I think AdFree is the app I use for that.
I already made baseband update for our phone. I used one from androidian and replace our files with theirs.

I figured out the maps issue. Apparently the new version of google maps has 3D maps and wasn't avaibable in my country. I just used market enabler and downloaded it. Lol its stupid, I mean dont let someone update just because of country they live in? Ill wont have 3D at home, but I can use it if i travel abroad. Anyways!
I use adfree too but the recent update screwed everything up. I just revert to previous build using TB and it still works for me. If I can pull that one out ill pm you with it, since not thread relavent. Btw ads in Angry Birds are embedded in software, so adfree wont work for some reason. Check adfree's review in market and they tell you why.
Has anyone used the compress option when making a back up? It is there, but I wonder what it will do? Does it function properly? I seem to remember reading something about compressing ad back up and it get corrupted or something like that but I can't remember when or where I read it.
What functionality does the Compress back up do (and please do say something like "it makes it smaller")? Does it work?
Here's what this thread is about...the Sidekick 4G has a lack luster of performance in regards to speed...so I have a proposal.
Everyone shares tips to speed up the Sidekick 4G...after a brainstorm and some testing..I will compile the best tweaks together and put them into a thread and give credits to the appropriate people! Everyone feel free to join in, don't think any idea is a bad idea, just post it!
1. Tegrak Overclocking on Bali 2.2 at 1.3 GHZ (Generic Ginger 3.0)
2. Using Supercharger V6 Script
3. Use a good launcher (LauncherPro, Nemus) Customize all memory settings for the launcher in the launcher's settings.
4. Flash the Blaze 4G Modem
5. Uninstall the factory default Swype using Link2SD and install Swype Beta
6. Fix permissions on a daily/weekly basis depending on amount of usage
This is the basics of tweaking that I have applied to my Sidekick to get a boost out of performance. Share yours for everyone to use, and brainstorm.
Edit : This research is going to help me compile and cook a ROM. So helping out here, helps out everyone else in the long run.
I'm still on GOv2 now till I get my phone back, but at 1.2ghz along the tweaks I found in other forums this device is totally lag free for me just as long as I keep it optimized. My only issue is ram, I wish this device had more ram.. my low budget Androids actually BOTH have 512mb of ram, and after killing all running apps on those I usually end up with around over 300mb of ram, the Sidekick usually drops to below 100mb in no time and when freeing up ram I never seem to get at least near 200mb.
Anyways.. back on topic, I'll try to find the links to those tweaks so I can share them and give proper credit.

Unfortunately, everyone has mixed success with overclocking on Glorious Overdose V2. If I so much as touch 1.2 GHz, I'll freeze within minutes if not instantly.
Overclocking on GOv2 is hit and miss for me. Sometimes, it can go for about a week on 1.2, or like this morning, it'll crash and shut off. I almost did not wake up in time for work. lol.

Yeah. Which is why I'm trying to also dev like Adjust is, but I'm a beginner. I'm trying to find the Bali 2.2 Voodoo kernel right now so I can get started.
The Bali 2.2 Voodoo kernel is overclockable to 1.3 GHZ (stable) so if that's the case, just being at 1.3 is a huge speed increase, and then implementing the tweaks into the ROM.
it doesn't matter what the kernal allows for clock speed, every phone is different and some can't overclock at all without crashing

True. But at the very least we can try.
Try this and see if it does anything for your device. Just remove any prior init.d scripts you have on your device as these may actually conflict with each other.

cool deal. I was away from the SK for a long time, but isn't the Platypus_Egg kernel basically the Bali kernel adapted for the KJ2 ROM base?(correct me if I'm wrong about that) in which case, you can use the zImage from GOV or GG ROM. I guess it depends what you are gonna use as your base. for KG2 there was a flashable zip for the Bali kernel here and on Rootzwiki... but they might have been posted to Multiupload and not working anymore.
I am running the KJ2 stock ROM with Platypus kernel taken from GG, and it's running great. I also tried to build the kernel from the source we have, and it seemed to build with no errors, but I couldn't get it to boot on KJ2.

Sounds great. I need all the feedback and help I can get.
1) Back up data (you will see why, below);
2) Make a list of all installed apps and their source (Google Play, Amazon, etc.) so they can be re-installed later (you will see why, below);
3) Perform a Factory Reset (this wipes all data and installed apps and brings phone to a "like-new" state --this is reason for steps 1 & 2)
4) Install a Task Killer. Easy Task Killer Advanced works well for this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobo.task.killer -- this not only kills background tasks, it also keeps a record of what is killed so you can easily keep a record of what apps keep re-loading into memory.
5) Root the Phone (help on this is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1128); This allows access to the phone storage area where you can remove bloatware apps (like DriveSpace) that continually load in the background, eating up valuable resources.
6) start removing apps (again get help from the XDA forum for guidance) try MOVING an app (especially those from step 4) from phone storage to SD Card, then reboot the phone. if the phone starts working in a weird way, put the app back. Keep trying this with different apps until you are satisfied.
7) start re-installing apps --try only installing the apps you really need. move as many apps as possible to the SD Card. if a non-essential app forces install in Phone memory, uninstall it. only reason to keep an app in phone memory is to use its Widgets.
I have done all of the above on my own Sidekick 4G and the phone works much smoother.

For #6, do you have a list of apks you successfully removed. I removed a lot, including the logmein services and any apk with the word "test" in it. I have tried removing some others that I think I don't need, but many cause problems. I wish we had a list of all the removable junk (or that ROM cookers would just remove more apks from the system then they do)
For #7, I have to disagree. Apps load faster from phone memory for me, even with a Class 10 uSDcard. Phone boot up is faster (media scanner is much faster, you don't get ugly icons while waiting for them to be read off uSDcard, you can run your apps immediately after boot instead of getting "App Not Installed" until the are read off uSDcard). If your uSDcard dies on you (happened to me twice) your phone remains the same (I also like having the ability to swap uSDcards on-the-fly, like if I am on a trip and have multiple cards of movies).
We have plenty of space to hold ~80 apps and that space it just wasted if we don't use it. I have actually started doing the opposite... integrating more important apps in to system. That way there is even more space on data for other apps, and I can avoid having any apps on the SDcard at all (and still have plenty of free space in both system and data).
ok, heres what im going to do in the next week or so, im going to take time to figure out what apps we dont need through testing and remove as many as possible, then i will put it up for flash. we will see if i can get the zip down to 120-140 mb in size
Now that we've got some Sunshine in our lives, sadly (not really) it is time for Turboid to be retired. We don't need it anymore.
If you would like to set up a rom on your unlocked Turbo that has all the features that Turboid had, upgrade to SU4TL-44, unlock with Sunshine, install TWRP, and flash following:
1. SuperSU: https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/
2. Busybox: http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...-busybox-v1-23-2-stericson-flashable-t3114476 (NOTE: This is not the latest version, but you need to have busybox flashed before you flash Pon-3. Once you boot the phone, use Busybox Installer by Stericson in the Play Store to update to the latest version).
3. Pon-3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2530976
4. Xposed Framework: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811 (Make sure to flash the correct SDK for the rom that you're running. SDK21 = Lollipop 5.0.X. SDK22 = Lollipop 5.1.X. SDK23 = Marshmallow 6.X. Also, always use the ARM version.)
5. iOS 9.1 emojis: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/themes-apps/mod-ios-emojis-android-t3231571
Once all that's flashed, let the phone boot up. Wiping cache and dalvik cache is always a safe bet after flashing anything. Once it boots, do the following:
1. Go back to the Xposed page and install the Installer apk.
2. Get Adaway here: https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdid=org.adaway (Install using the default settings. No need for redirecting the hosts file anymore.)
3. Better Battery Stats is here if you like: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
4. The Turbo 2 command center is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/themes-apps/droid-turbo-2-command-center-root-t3244386
I think that about covers it. Go forth and flash! Thanks for letting me play dev for a few months.

Unlike the other images floating around, I started off with the stock SU3TL-39 system image from the full Verizon firmware. To the best of my knowledge, the other roms are based off of firstEncounter's 5.1 image, which was obtained in a different way. Does this matter? Probably not, but at the time I thought that this might fix the HDR bug, and it did, but probably not for that reason.

There's a SU3TL-39 full firmware? My images were based on the SU3TL-38 and updated to SU3TL-39 by emulating the OTA script.

Regardless, always glad to see more development for the Turbo!

Yep! You can get it on the motofirmwares website. Yeah, someone confirmed for me the other day that it works on your image now. In the past, I had flashed it and it didn't, but you've updated it since I did that. So I guess HDR working isn't really a feature anymore. I'm working on some gimmicks to make my image a little more relevant though.
Would it be possible for you to allow us to claim space to the area where the Google Search Bar is, when it is hidden? Also, I would like to be able to clear all the open applications without having to swipe them all one at a time. Is that possible?

I'll look into the Google search bar thing. I've never seen my screen without it, so I didn't know that the space wasn't automatically used. As for the clear all recents thing, that is one of the many features of Gravity Box for LP (a well known xposed module). Try that. I'll see if there's a way to bake it into the rom too.
I posted on the other thread about this, but I will say again here, this img is great. Has similar battery life to the other Lp img I was running, despite not having tweaks. I unplugged at 530 am. been kicking butt all day long. I streamed via Bluetooth for 2 hours driving at work, and noticed better 4g signals than I have had yet at my work using this img. There were zero glitches or bugs that I noticed. I am still at 8% battery, atm. I had a crapload of SOT. Look for yourself. amazing img. thank you!!!
p.s. I just noticed I have had max brightness all day as well. lol.
I just realized you removed the corporate email app (after a day or use, haha). Is there a way that I can side load it or something? I love the debloated ROM, but that is one app I need for my college email account.
Also, is it ok to update Moto Actions? You can understand why I ask that!
^^^ I used the Outlook app as a replacement today. Gmail also will allow you to add other email accounts now, so that may be why. As far as requests, my only one may not be reasonable or practical, but it would be a deodexed version of this. Again, awesome work.
Yeah, specifically, I need the exchange piece. I tried the outlook app, but it doesn't handle certain things as well. I also tried installing Google Email 6.5 as well as the Exchange Services apk, but I know I have to be missing something... Actually, probably lots of things! haha.
Also, adaway doesn't work with this build, is that right?

^^^ I used the Outlook app as a replacement today. Gmail also will allow you to add other email accounts now, so that may be why. As far as requests, my only one may not be reasonable or practical, but it would be a deodexed version of this. Again, awesome work.

Well if you need the stock email app, I can send an image your way that has it once I find some time. I have no idea what deodexing roms entails, but that sounds like a fun project too. I'll look into it.

Correct. I didn't put adaway in there. I probably could though. Stay tuned.

I just realized you removed the corporate email app (after a day or use, haha). Is there a way that I can side load it or something? I love the debloated ROM, but that is one app I need for my college email account.
Also, is it ok to update Moto Actions? You can understand why I ask that!

Haha yes, updating seems to not cause the apocalypse to occur this time around. I'll make an image that has the stock email app intact, or I'll try sideloading it and post the apk if it works.

I added the stock email app back. Side loading didn't work. Will be up in a few hours.
thats cool. honestly, deodexing is removing all of the .odex files from the rom. (located at /system/app , system/priv-app, etc.
the reason i ask about it is it would make theming easier. mind you, without system r/w access, it is a moot point. it may make the theme options available work better though. (LPthemer module comes to mind). CF has said he will not be doing that at any point, so it may be a PITA.

Oh. That's it? I can do that in 2 seconds. I thought there was something more to it.
1.02 looks like the perfect ROM for me! Thanks @TheSt33v
