Just wondering if anyone is working on a flashable 5.0.1 update or knows how how to update stock 5.0 (rooted) without a data wipe.
I've unrooted and flashed the stock recovery, but it's saying the binary is wrong when i try to update?
U cant update using air push if ur rooted u can simply flash a 5.0.1 custom rom

Read any of the recent threads. You have to be 100% stock. Just flash the recovery, boot, and system from 5.0 in fastboot then do the ota

If you're flashing system, you may as well directly flash 5.0.1 system

you make a backup in recovery, then dirty flash, dont wipe a single thing, 444 over it. if alls well after, then perfect. if you have issues, you have that backup in recovery to restore

I downloaded then tried to flash the zip file in twrp .. It says it failed not sure what to do next and is 4.4.4 the latest firmware?

perhaps you could elaborate on the following 2 things
1) what zip are you flashing?
2) what error are you getting?

The pop up I get every 3 days for me to update my device to 4.4.3 I believe.. It's located in twrp under cache... When I try flashing it says error in red lettering ... Also I tried Uninstalling Xposed but seems not to change anything

Don't use OTA updates. Just manually flash a rooted stock ROM via TWRP.
Click the link in my signature and go to the "resources" section. You'll find a full rooted, PURE STOCK 4.4.4 rom there.
Copy it to your /sdcard, take a FULL nandroid backup then flash the ROM.

if the dirty flash is successful, you wont lose a thing, except time. if you have to go back and wipe, you will lose your data. so, make a backup in recovery first, before the dirty flash.
I wanted to switch back to stock Rom, I flashed it with fastboot (I downloaded 4.4.4)
I installed Root and XPosed, but I uninstalled XPosed again, Android wanted to update to 4.4.2 (settings said i have 4.4), but I got an error, Installed twrp and tried it manully, i got an error (i think it was error excecuting binary...)

Yes it is. You returned to stock then modified it so it is no longer stock. You cannot update unless you're still stock, but you're not. So flash latest stock.

I used CWM recovery to install it and then i got a more specific error (/system/framework/core.odex contains..., so it is xposed)Should I reflash the system.img, and does this wipe data?

If you use the flash all method in the link above it will wipe your data. If you fastboot flash system.img only then nothing gets wiped

I read many Website and I only read that flashing all images will wipe everything, I already thought that it will only wipe /system, but I wanted to be sure, losing data isnt funny

Hey, I was wondering if it'd be possible to downgrade from stock 5.1 back to stock 5.0.1 by running the flash command in the factory nexus 5 image (for android 5.0.1), also downgrading the bootloader and radio in the process?
I'm not sure about this device, but I recently hard bricked my moto g downgrading from the android 5 bootloader to the android 4.4 bootloader, so I was hesitant to just run the downgrade process.

Yes, it's a nexus device. You can flash whatever factory image version you want on it.

Can I just follow this instructions to downgrade from 5.1 to 5.0.1? Or should I do something else? I'll lose root, right? 5.1 messed up my Nexus 5, battery is lasting 40% less than it used to, and Google Play Services seems to be to blame. Getting real sick of this.

If i downgrade android 5.1 to 5.0 will i have to wipe? (My bootloader is already unlocked, as I have had it rooted before, but android is stock and I dont have a custom recovery)

Anytime you flash any factory images you're device will be wiped clean. Data, app, everything. So back up anything important.

Is there any way to get my user data back, so app settings ans so on? If i just restore the data partition from the backup i made on 5.1 with TWRP i get a botloop. It makes sense that i can't just use my user data from a higher version but how do i fix this?

You have to flash 5.1 again. Restore data from TWRP. Boot the phone and use some backup program (titanium backup is my favourite). Flash 5.0.1 again (do not restore backup from TWRP), boot and restore from the app you choose. You will probably get some force closes, but you can then just wipe data for those FC apps.
Quick suggestion: if it is possible, make .xml backups for system data.

You could root your 5.0 ROM and backup everything with Titanium, then flash the OTA zip and restore...

You can't flash the ota in twrp. Just flash the system and boot image from 5.1 with fastboot.

You need to perform a full wipe (system, data, cache, dalvik cache) in order to go down, which will wipe everything except your internal storage. You can use Titanium Backup to make a backup of your apps and then restore them after you've flashed the cm-12.0-YNG1TAS2I3 zip. Titanium requires root, so if you don't have root you'll need to flash SuperSU in order to use it.
Why do you wanna downgrade good sir? is there some problems?
im still on kitkat 4.4, and since the new update to COS12.1, i've been considering to upgrade, but still trying to consider the pros & cons here

What about if downgrading through stock..??
Downgraded oneplus one from cm 12.1 to cm 12 on stock recovery and without unlocking the bootloader...
