You can realize it by using Tasker and Toggle Network Type 5.0 (also available in XDA Forum), but you need to be rooted.
You can also prevent switching back to 2G if particular app is open with Tasker Process Running.

Your profile says you're rooted. So it's not really difficult. Just set a Profile "if screen is off toogle to 2g" and anotherone "if device is unlocked and wifi off toogle to LTE prefered.

Does not work period or does not work hiding hotspot use? Could do the old trick of changing user agent on browser. That works for me on note 4.

Have you activated/started native hotspot yet?
I tried a number of different methods and I'm 99% positive that without root you cannot tether unlimited
Does it work with a wire to the computer

usb tether worked for me, however, you need to download pdanet on your pc/mac.
Edit the main APN "T-Mobile US LTE" and add ",dun" to the end of the "APN type" (so the it should say "default,mms,supl,hipri,fota,dun") then save it."

Here you go, this will enable the Mobile Data Toggle and many other toggles which you
don't already have.
After installing this APK file and activating the toggles you will have a total of 30 toggles.

Once you enabled the 30 toggles you can delete this apk if you like.

That's strange, I have been using it for quite a while now.
Did you click on the "Activate Toggles (common 30)"?
Also if you are not rooted, this will not work.

Any updates on this would be helpful as I am on 6.0.1 and nothing is working to restore data toggle.
I think I've tried all the "restore apps"
Having to settle for power toggles app (widget on homescreen is OK for now tho)

Once I turn Wi-Fi sharing off it kills the hotspot.... Idk. I'll keep searching.

The steps work for me. I find myself having Wi-Fi on with the wrong passwords entered into 3 sources. I then toggle the Wi-Fi sharing and the hotspot until it works. I'm sure there is an easier way out there but it has worked for me since day 1.
