i used this flashable zip. worked well. (recovery.img - md5: 9498a26de4ceb1e9efc79195e739b629)
first impression is quite good. interface clearer than twrp v2.8.0.0. recovery smoother too.
made a backup. did an advanced wipe. didn't get the right opportunity for a restore.

I think everyone is happy with TWRP 2.8.1.0 - 160 downloads and no complaint.
So very few downloads for TWRP 2.8.2.0 (only 16).
So no need of TWRP 2.8.3.0
Also no one is aware of flashable zips as there is still no download of any recovery. (only 2 for philz)
What about CTR 3.0 have u tested it yet - nowadays i dont have any tester of anything.

your reasons for "no need of TWRP 2.8.3.0" are strange, to say the least.
also, i wonder how you could not take note of the changelog for TWRP v2.8.3.0.:
Dees_Troy said:
....CHANGELOG for 2.8.3.0:
-MTP will now tell the host PC that storage is removed instead of disabling MTP completely
-MTP will now report the correct max file size based on the file system in use to the host PC (may fix transfer of large files)
-Update and improve fix permissions and make fixing contexts optional
-Update SuperSU in TWRP to 2.40 and update install process
-Make TWRP work properly on AArch64 (Nexus 9 is now built in true 64-bit binaries and libraries)
-Attempt to set correct permissions and contexts on all files placed in storage so backups will show in Android
-Fix kernel panic during MTP start on some devices
-Support unicode fonts on devices with True Type Font support
-Fix slider value not showing sometimes (vibration settings page)
-Toggle MTP off during adb sideload to set correct USB IDs
-Reduce library requirements for 5.0 L decrypt
-Other minor fixes and improvements
Note: Starting with TWRP 2.8.2.0 and higher, adb sideload uses a new sideload method originally implemented in AOSP recovery. You will need the latest adb binaries to use sideload in these newer versions of TWRP. The version required is 1.0.32. You can find the version by running "adb version" on your computer. The new sideload feature no longer stores the zip on your device. Instead, a fuse file system is created in RAM and the zip is streamed from your computer. This puts less wear and tear on storage and ensures that large zips will not fill up all of your RAM. The sideload may spit an error on your PC side, but the zip should install just fine on your device.....

There is no need to TWRP recovered backup from other Recovery.
Since there are system applications, such as "Nandroid Manager", "OBackup - Nandroid backup", and more.

Thank you Chromium_ for this release! Your effort to keep this device along the top is much appreciated.
I was already wondering whether a newer version of TWRP was possible on our device so this release comes with great timing.
Also I was having trouble flashing the zip-file through recovery TWRP 2.6.0 ("not able to open ZIP").
Instead I used the alternative (and IMO much easier) method of flashing the image file:
In terminal as root, issue the following command: flash_image recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-bravo.img
Worked like a charm. Thanks again!

I plan to. Right now I believe this is the latest version (2.6.3.0). I've merged all of the open commits from their github and gerrit. Although you may see other devices seem to have newer versions (ie: 2.6.3.4), i think those version increments are device specific fixes.

I'll look into it.
Edit: After talking to Dees_Troy, I realized that it is actually charging. The "+" icon shown beside the battery percentage (as shown in the screenshot attached) shows that its being charged. And I also tested it just to confirm, and the charge definitely is increasing. The only slight issue is that the LED light that usually comes on to indicate charging is not coming on, but dont worry...it is being charged.

yes of course the rom can be flashed with any recovery above cwm 6.0.
actually kitkat support flash of rom from cwm 5.5.
yes the attachment is universal for all mtk6589 devices. so its named like that.
busybox already included in the rom as well a busybox app is added as sometimes after rooting viper refuses to install or it get installed but after reboot again ask for drivers which is issue with busybox.
so u need to updated it from the app provided (ss no 6)
This rom is odexed which gives issue of rooting and customization (viper installation) so we need to follow these given steps.

Oh, I'm currently using that ROM. And it seems good except for one thing.
For some reason, I'm not able to add a navigation bar via GB or any other Xposed Module. Tried a couple of them, but didn't work.
Edit - Alright, just checked. There's an option to add NavBar via Legend Setting in the settings. Enabled it, I got what I wanted. Will report back again if I anything.

Thank you, I figured that was the case, just wanted to be sure! :good:
Thank you for your work! ????????????
Thank you
Works great. With the latest build of 2.8.2, I was having issues with the screen not turning off in recovery and now it does. Was a huge battery waste during a backup. Thanks for this.
Thanks. Any chance that there will ever be à chance of having some form of security in here so If phone gets stolen the person can't wipe from recovery without a password or something?

That's a feature you have to request from the team recovery them self.

@777jon
I've noticed that Team Win has officially posted a build of 2.8.3.0 on their site for the D850. Is their build different from yours? (their img file is larger). And is their build bumped? Just curious if you happen to know. Thank you!

I'm not sure why you asked 777jon this question when you already asked in AndroidUser's old thread and I gave you the exact same answer you got this time. Jon and AU are not on the TeamWin team, so requesting features from them just doesn't make any sense. Go to the TeamWin site and get in contact with the team itself, instead of just a solitary person that is building the Recovery.
So again, like I said last time, here's a link to actual team members: http://teamw.in/about
Wasn't asking you.

I hope Jon just quotes cryptecks back to you.
My phone is stuck in a loop on the teamwin loading screen. I'm going to try to install 2.8.2 instead...
I got it to work with 2.8.2 once, but then it went BACK into an endless loop on further boot into recovery.

Yes their build is different. My TWRP builds are unofficial since they have additional features such as modem backup.
Is there a problem backup to ext card because in my case it only works to internal. When I try to restore from ext card it failed.

Everything Is In OP Itself For PC .. Via Mobile Means Use Rashr or Flashify or Mobile Uncle Tools(Not Available Now In Gplay [If you want it means Download it from 3rd Party Websites] ) From Google Play ..
These Steps Will Be Suitable for Mobile Uncle Tools Only..
1) Download the Recovery Image
2) Rename it to recovery.img(change the Real Name(For Ex - MicromaxA106Recovery.img) of the Recovery image to "recovery"( No Quotations)
3) Move your img file from the Downloaded Folder to the Root of your Internal Storage
4) Now Open Mobile Uncle Tools & Grant Root Rights
5) Then Click Recovery Update Option, The You Will Find Your recovery.img file on the top ..
6) Click it , it will ask for Flashing ,Select OK then Reboot .. Voilà That's it ..
For Rashr & Flashify No Need of these Steps ..Just Install the App & Select the Download Image from Your Storage & Flash it ,Reboot It..
Good Luck ..
Yeah Via Custom Recoveries,You Can Install it.. That's What its all About ..

Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP) is an open-source software custom recovery image for Android-based devices. It provides a touchscreen-enabled interface that allows users to install third-party firmware and back up the current system, functions often unsupported by stock recovery images. It is, therefore, often installed when rooting Android devices, although it isn't dependent on a device being rooted to be installed.
Notes for themers: In addition to the udpated theme, we have introduced a theme version variable to the TWRP theme system. If the theme version does not match the version that TWRP expects, TWRP will reject the custom theme and load its stock theme. This change will ensure that people who update TWRP without updating their theme will still have a workable recovery. We have removed libjpeg support. The stock theme was only using a jpeg image for the splash / curtain. This change means that any custom themes will no longer be able to use jpeg images. It also means that tools used to repack recovery images with a different curtain / splash will need to be updated to use the new method.
Version number notes: For a while we’ve been using a 4 digit version number and reserved the 4th digit for device-specific updates. For instance, we find and fix a device-specific issue like decryption of data on Nexus 5, we would release that as a 2.8.7.1. After a while, some people would start asking where 2.8.7.1 was for other devices. So, going forward we have decided to change the numbering scheme to 3.0.0-2, etc. Our hope is that this version numbering scheme will more clearly identify that the 4th digit does not indicate a version change for the code base.
We need your help! The bulk of TWRP work is done by 3 people on a volunteer basis. We have pushed most of our device files to our github and we have a gerrit instance. If you have the ability, please help us maintain our official devices and/or add your device to our official device list. Thanks in advance!

Nice! So this is supposed to work without A/B conflicts - unlike the other TWRP project?
Edit: Awesome! This works great so far. I now have permanent TWRP on my device. It updates partition details perfectly and I was able to flash Magisk without an issue.
Thanks a lot for your work!

And yes: wifi does not work on both images
WiFi not working, help please.
Testing without wifi:
* Magisk v17.1 (via TWRP/zip) -> works
* SuperSU (via Magisk) -> works
* SELinux-Manager (via TWRP/zip) and go to permissive mode -> works
* xposed (xposed-v90.2-sdk27-beta3, via TWRP) -> bootloop - I'll try direct installation through Magisk when wifi works.
What's about error message when deleting the cache in TWRP:
unable to find partition for path '/cache'?
To all restore the stock boot.img. To fix it
We need to find a solution. Don't flash the twrp.
