Hello dear XDA-Developers' Members!
Some of you have already seen our community site (there are links to us in your forum), some of you not. I want to briefly introduce here the project itself. It's called "Freeware Lovers" and with that we want to provide the people who loves freeware (as we do) with an open platform to collect and share free apps and games. It's very much Wiki-like. You can add a new app, new version, upload the files and describe it. Another visitors (unregistered) and members (registered) can improve your submission. Everything is tracked (think Wiki), so vandalism and mistaken submissions can be reverted.
We have a long way to go to make the platform more usable and user-friendly, but it already works and we need a community support.
Right now only two mobile platforms are supported: Android and Palm OS (Palm OS was added just yesterday). You are welcome to suggest another platforms, we'll be happy to expand the project. Please, vote above which platform you want to be supported next!
So, here it is: http://www.FreewareLovers.com/
For Android Freeware: http://www.FreewareLovers.com/Android
For Palm OS Freeware: http://www.FreewareLovers.com/Palm
Please, let us know what you think about it.
With best regards,
Freeware Lovers Team

Automatic news summary from many sources on smartphones!
How would it seem to you having automatically on your smartphone a single summary of the news from multiple sources? Unbelievable? Yet, now it seems that not only can it go into practice, but it is also offered freely to all so as to become a part of our everyday life! Its name: NewSum!
Who does it?
SciFY, a not-for-profit organisation which develops cutting-edge information technology to solve real life problems and offers it freely to all, including all design, implementation details and support needed.
What is NewSum?
A really innovative application, NewSum that automatically summarizes information from many sources and combines them in a single text! It is an intelligent summary of all the different information that you would get if you read all the articles from all the sources you visit (or that you would like to have time to visit...). With the use of cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology, news are summarised and all repeated information is not duplicated. All these in a user friendly, tested and effective application.
Why do they do it?
As SciFY puts it: "The goal of this project is to reinforce pluralism in news coverage. Think about it: How can you get the whole picture in your areas of interest, fast? Up to now, in order to be well-informed about what you really want to, you were obliged to visit at least 2-3 different sites/blogs and spend valuable time reading news that are by 80% the same… Newsfeeds, news aggregators are not real solutions: They just group articles, but you still have to do the rest of the job, since you have to visit all the different sources in order to get the information you need (when / if you have the time!). NewSum is on the way to change all this..."
Why is it important to help NewSum?
Indicatively:
it is offered freely to all using open source code and all the support needed.
it promotes pluralism in news coverage by using cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology.
it is developed by an not-for-profit organisation by young volunteers - entrepreneurs.
How you can help in this phase?
The first version is soon to be released and needs testing. SciFY creates now a small group of beta testers, who are going to be the first to have access to the application. Anyone interested to see it in practice can contact SciFY soon by contcting me by PM!
Thank you!
Hello,
I'm Marc Aurel and I'm working with some other developers on the Volla Phone with a custom Android without Google Apps and Play Services. In addition to privacy protection the focus is a new simplified user experience beyond the app centered paradigm of current mobile operating systems.
We'll soon publish our code to invite developers to join the project or just have a look, what we are doing. We want to invite developers to our 2nd community days from 6 to 7 of June with a hackathon. You can find the announcement of the event with a live stream right here in our blog post. https:// volla.online /blog/files/community-days-2020.html
As a developer I will have some questions and I'm happy to answer some questions. I work on the launcher of the Volla OS, implemented with Qt, by the way. So I may can help or exchange experiences with developers working with this technology.
Very nice to see a phone that ships without any Google stuff out of the box. As many users switch to open source operating systems to avoid bloatware and manufacturer stuff sniffing their privacy this is a great project!
I hope the announced hackathon will result in many good ideas and approaches to improve the OSs compatible with the phone (as it also will support Ubuntu touch).
I'm looking forward to hear the results!

Thanks you for your motivating replay. We'll soon publish our source code of the Android based Volla OS after we have already published our source code for the Ubuntu Touch port in GitHub..
Beyond a discussion on measures to improve data protection, for which short presentations are welcome, we would like to explore ways to improve the user experience in the hackathon. One challenge will be the implementation of a system-wide sidebar that can be displayed with a border gesture. I'll post screenshots as soon I have the rights to post links.
Here the announcement for the community day:
https://volla.online/blog/files/community-days-2020.html
We have prepared an event page, that will be updated soon. You find it on volla.online/vcd2020 for Volla Community Days 2020. We hope to have participants of the Android developer community for our hackathon.
Hey Android, we are a very small team of developers building and testing a Twitter-like community platform where users can have different profiles for each community they join with the same account. We are particularly focused on allowing users to be able to switch their profiles automatically in each community they interact in. We are still in the early stages, so we currently have Memes, Gaming, Fashion, cats, and other couple communities. We don't have much content yet, but we would appreciate your posts and communities that you create there.
Some of the features that we include are:
Ability to have multiple profiles with a single account. Helping you align yourself with the relevant context of each community and providing you with privacy and control over the information you share in each community.
Ability to create Poll, events, share photos and videos
Limited character lengths to 350 characters.
Light and dark themes.
Ability to make communities Public, Allowed domains, and invite only.
Direct messaging and community messaging (similar to discord)
We're still in our early phase and would love your support and feedback! Please let us know where and what we can improve. Thank you
