Just bought my 1st Windows phone to test out. Is this still a good phone? I would love your thoughts.
Just bought this phone as well to see what all the noise is about the camera.
I tested it against my nexus 5 and the zoom was incredible shot out of 20th floor window, but I have not taken it anywhere yet to take real photos.
I would like to hears other thoughts as well.
I think we are the only 2 people that own this phone and visit xda
yeah I think so as well.
Probably since MS locked it down so hard and it can not be rooted, maybe people lost interest.
This is my test phone and that time when we all wish we had a good camera device to take a quick picture(now waiting on that moment.)
Nexus 5 is still my daily driver, but I like this phone a lot.
To answer you original question, from everyone I have talked to this is still one of the best, if not the best camera/phone combination out there.
It's still the best camera phone (maybe except Nokia 808 with bigger sensor, but no stabilization). Lumix CM1 should be much better, but will cost twice more and it still isn't in sale.
Is there any camera app to allow me to set exposure time more than 4s like default application?

Do your guys camera kinda rattle when you put the phone down?
Or if you tap the phone earlier against your hand?

I looked that up when I first got the phone. Can't remember where I found the information, but it is just the OIS element.
I'm not a camera guy so I looked up OIS element. It appears that regular cameras have the rattle as well.
OIS = Optical Image Stabilization
New one to me.
Most said that if the rattle stops then you are in trouble.
Long story short Rattle is good.
Guys visit the site for detailed information Windows Phones and anything related to Lumia/ Win Phone
http://allaboutwindowsphone.com/
I've bought and tried almost every smartphone with a good camera.
Nokia Lumia 1020 takes the best photos of all till now...
The pureview technology is unique...
As a previous owner of lumia 1020. My thoughts and info.
Currently I am a note 3 user. Lumia 1020 was for me a very good phone. My only issue is that earpiece volume was low (Small ear problem due to my work, but I can say iphone and now note 3 are double lowder) . At first it was perfect. After the 8 update it went lower. Restored to the initial version but no improvement. Kept and updated to 8.1........ still the same. Contacted microsoft but no answer given (dah). If the volume was higher I would never have sold it. I was an iphone user, android, lumia, iphone and now again on android. These are my conclusion on personal experience.
1. Camera is far far superior than other phones. YES. By far. I dont know about the iphone 6.
2. Rattle noise of the camera is a little bit disturbing but as I have read its on the stabilisation of the camera.
3. Windows os is FASTER than any other (Yes I have previously rooted my HTC m7 and used custom roms)
4. Support from microsoft sucks (sorry but they have not answered any of my emails with a solution)
5. To take great photos you have to study and learn the camera 's features.
Do I miss my Lumia? YES
Will I ever buy a Lumia? YES ( thinking of the 930 but I saw many issues with that as well.) In a year or two if they take their jobs seriously they can make unbelievable smartphones.
Hope I have helped someone.
stunning camera. Way above anything else.
I've been using the phone since June 2014. It has a STUNNING camera and I've been a serious DLSR photographer since 2004.
Its not all things to all men but low light and detail from the large 41.3-megapixel BSI CMOS image sensor are v good. Its a FX - full frame camera in a phone without the add-on lenses. FX on a DLSR is £1000 entry level.
I perhaps wish I had more control over the photographic process. I'd love a variable Neutral Density Filter. I'd love a simple HDR app.
I'd like better 3rd party apps. I think this camera\Nokia 1020 will ultimately fail in the market as it is locked down by MS and Nokia. Such a shame....and self defeating. Camera 10/10.
I tried to debrand it when I got it. Failed.
No WP equivalent Cyanogen Mod or simple 8.1 for me then.

Especially since no other can do 4x FHD zoom without serious quality drop
Mine glass broke while moving and I bought galaxy s4+ while waiting repairs and I decided to keep it, since the operating system gives so much leeway...
Only problem is that now I have to use burst to get even one good image even in good light
I upgraded to Nexus 6 but always carry the 1020 for pictures can't beat the camera

Hi there guys. Im not new in the forums but new to this threads. I used to have Motorolas and still love them, awesome devices and still think the best out there, at least in Android side, but my GF took mine for a game and gave me this Lumia 1020. which to be honest i sold her the idea of getting it in the first place.
So far ive been investigating as many people talks too much BS about 41 megapixels not being important bla bla...
My findings so far:
The phone specs are medium to high compared to pocket cameras. The quality is actually amazing, a few small details as with anything but i think its just perfect to avoid buying a camera. I just dont like that the zoom is not that much, to be honest its great when im at an stadium and i take this pictures that are simply amazing compared to what any other smartphone can take, but if i want to zoom then im the one with the crappiest zoom. But i bought this Lensung zoom 12X and im going to check it once it arrives in a couple of weeks or more.
There are some cool apps out there for this camera so the biggest problem is to know which one fits you better, thats why i have about 8 apps installed. Ive been playing with some and they all fit somehow. Im an amateur photo lover beginner in the lowest level but damn this camera makes me look at least as a good enough camera man he he he.
Issues so far: i hate the phone overheats but i know it is normal.
No real quality lenses out there (im going to test the one i mentioned but not sure its gonna be good enough yet)
Possible advantages:
Ive seen people working on creating cases that fit real lenses, professional ones, waiting for the results and possibilities to buy them.
And one last thing, in the party a couple weeks ago every single person started taking pictures... i was the one taking pictures at the end of the party as there was no match for this camera-phone, simply they all surrendered to its quality pictures, iPhone lovers, Android lovers, Samsung lovers, all of them. So yes, this phone is still the best camera phone you will find!
I'm planning to get a new phone but I'm still not sure whether to get the iPhone 6 or the Z3. Any advice from you guys would be much appreciated. What you hate and love about your Z3 or iPhone 6?
I suspect you'll get quite biased views here, obviously, but it comes down to what you want.
I'll tell you the reasons I prefer the Z3 and you can take them with a pinch of salt.
Number one is battery life. The Z3 is insane. One of the highest performers ever tested by PhoneArena. In their test which runs a script that simulates general usage. It lasted 9h 29min compared to the iphone's 5hr 26min! In real life mine will comfortably go two days if I don't use it heavily and easily last the day if I do. That's without the 'stamina mode' options which I've used to make the phone last from Friday morning right through to Monday night, still with average usage!
Water/dust proof. Handy if you want to use it outside in the rain and also means you don't worry about dirt and grit getting in.
Sturdier. iPhones are notoriously fragile, not just the bendgate thing but the screen etc are just much more breakable. I don't know anyone with an iPhone who hasn't cracked the screen at least a little bit once.
More power. Faster processer and 3Gb of RAM compared to 1Gb. In real terms it doesn't make a huge difference but it is faster for multi-tasking.
Expandable/removable storage. I have a 32Gb memory card which cost only a few quid!
Better screen. Pixel density of 424ppi vs 326 and a much higher resolution.
Camera. On paper the Z3 is much higher spec, in reality it's very subjective. No denying the Z3 is excellent in low light though.
Cost. The Z3 is cheaper
Openness. This is more Android vs iOS than device specific but you can change everything on an Android phone. Keyboard, browser, text message client, email client, phone dialler, launcher, you name it. You can have multiple versions if you want and within them you can customise look and feel, icons, gestures etc. iOS has got better for this but is still way behind and Apple has a very strong brand that they are keen to keep and control so they'll never be as customisable.
Rooting/custom roms. Google is perfectly happy with you rooting your device and Sony provides instructions to unlock the bootloader (though doing so loses some features so if you want to go that way, look up the giefroot exploit instead). Unlike a jailbroken iPhone, everything will still work perfectly well on a rooted Android: Play store, Sony PC Companion, all apps, security features etc. You can install custom roms that add features or change the whole look of the phone.
To be honest, even if you've no interest in changing things, a stock Z3 is easy to use and, in my opinion, the better device. The only reason to go iPhone is because you prefer the look and feel of the design and/or are already in the Apple ecosystem (iTunes user, etc.)
Frankly, I will never have an iPhone while they require iTunes.
Iphone is all about simplicity. U cant do any customization on it, it for someone that wanted an easy life. Everything just work when u need it. How u do it, or how u use it, the result will still be the same. Calling some one, what ever phone u use, the person u call is still the same person. Going to some destination, what ever transport u use, ur destination is still the same. Update ur facebook, what ever app u use, ur updated status will still be the same...and so on....

Ask this question here, you will get a z3. Ask this at an iPhone forum you will get an iPhone.
While you guys are at it... Could you please tell me if I should eat pizza or pasta for dinner today? What's the pros and cons of both in your opinion?

Don't forget the updates every iPhone receives. The Z3 users will be lucky if they ever get the update to 5.1.
So if u don't want to mess around with your OS and just want to use it buy an iPhone.

Not sure why everyone thinks the iPhone is so simple to use. Both ios and android are pretty much the same when it comes to ease of use.
Now for the question I'd go for the z3 all day because its just a far better device.
The iPhone 6 has a terrible battery while the z3 has an unbelievable one.
The iPhone 6 has a 720p resolution. While the difference between 1080 and 720 is minimal I think everyone would prefer a 1080p screen.
The iPhone 6 only has 1gb of ram meaning any sort of game you insert in the background would just start over once you switch apps. Ios is light but 1gb of ram just isn't enough these days.
For the camera I don't know about the iPhone but the z3 takes some awesome pictures in manual mode. And the low light ones are incredible.
If your a gamer the z3 is a win the remote play feature left me shocked. I could actually play on my own ps4 using somebody else's wifi. Also the ps4 controller can be connected to the xperia without any wires or root or anything needed. Its just as simple as holding two buttons together and you're set to play asphalt 8 or Driveclub with the controller.
The z3 waterproooooof
Both devices look superb I own the copper z3 its so damn beautiful.
Also sony offers 2year warranties while apple only offers 1year warranty
Z3 is superior in my mind only thing iPhone has going is camera software. Sony is better with warranty too apple is always a fight
Plus you can do so much more on android then apple

I would say Z3 because I'm not an apple fan, I have a lot of friends who will only use an iPhone though. If you have previously used an iPhone and use iTunes and other apple stuff already it might make sense to go iPhone. If you have used neither ios or Android I would advise the z3, it's a great phone. At least on paper it had better hardware so I assume better performance, for games I also love it for all the emulators.
Also I may be a bit biased towards android as I own the z3 and I am a bit of a Linux fanboy.
When taking photos on manual, my cousin thought my Z3 took better photos than her i6.
I would say the Z3 as I own one personally and has owned iPhone 4s, 5 and 5s. My girlfriend has an iPhone 6. Both phones run smooth, the Z3 battery is much better imo but the iPhone's camera is better. If you're going to stay stock, i'd say the iPhone cause when you're not going to customize it, iOS is better. However if you like customizing your phone go for the Z3. Basically, both phones got pros and cos but no matter which one you get, both are awesome devices.

Apple never really changes anything they are the same phones year after year just get a few new features not like Sony where each phone is usually a big upgrade over past ones
True, but i6/i6+ were a big change overall.

+1 i respect iphones for their tech especially how they take advantage every bit of it. And the image sensor? Well, they really put their rival Xperias to shame. (just like z1 vs 5s, xperia t vs iphone 5, and now xperia z3 and iphone 6)

i currently have a moto x 2014 and a moto 360 as well as an iphone 5c that i use for work purposes. my moto x is my personal daily devices. i love the mostly pure android, the moto x itself is a beautiful device that feels awesome. however my issues:
porblems with bluetooth, specifically it just doesn't work with my car stereo. music skips a lot, voice calls sound like i'm underwater.
the camera, i knew motorola's have a history of being potatoes. however, the 1st gen got an update and it fixed the camera woes. the 2nd gen got lollipop and still no camera improvement. however, the camera is important to me, i have kids and like to be able to catch moments. the past 8 months have been grainy, blurry, and just general horrible shots.
i have an upgrade on one of my lines, i can go to the z3v with a decent cam, but the hardware itself is not pleasing. or i can go with the lumia icon with a proven camera but windows phone. i have had windows phone in the past (i think it was 7.2 last i had). the "app gap" is not much of a concern with me since i only have about 5 apps installed on my moto x. i'm not a "must have every version of talking tomcat and every fart soundboard out there" kind of person. i listen to music in the car, take pics on the go, browse facebook occasionally and text with my wife.
so am i stupid for wanting an icon? what other phones on verizon that have great cameras that are not samsung and fall in the $0-$1 range on contract? no i don't want edge.
You're probably the most likely to be happy with the icon, considering your usage. I use more apps than you but way less than the average person.
Any reason you can't use one phone for both work and personal?
I can't say anything cause I'm typing this on an iPhone 5 that I don't really like while my daily phone is a nexus 4. Camera is much better in the iPhone 5 probably the only reason I haven't resold it yet.
Do you like the 5c?

My hands are average sized and I have trouble typing on the iPhone 5. Only thing I really like is the build quality and how nice it looks (which doesn't apply to the 5c).

It's such a shame that the K Zoom never really took off. I owned one for about 6 months and loved it. I only changed it when the Note 4 was released. But during my time with the KZ I found the camera produced amazing photos with its 10X zoom and Xenon flash. The phone part was very capable too with a good sized high resolution screen, along with a decent amount of power. I also thought the price tag on this device was very reasonable too.
So why did it fail? Well I am guessing on a few theories. Firstly, maybe that it looked too much like the Galaxy S5 and although I personally don't think either the S5 or KZ look bad at all, a lot of people do. Samsung was getting a lot of criticism for their lack lustre designs and maybe it was released at the wrong time. Another theory would be that it was bulky. Though less so than its predecessor the Galaxy S4 Zoom. Maybe some weren't sure about a hybrid device, especially when cameras on phones in general were exceeding the quality of standalone cameras.
But I am a firm believer that one of the reasons these niche devices fail, is because Samsung just don't develop or support them once they are released. I mean development for their flagship phones doesn't exactly impress, so what chance does a less popular device get? Take the Galaxy Camera and the Galaxy Camera 2. Both great and revolutionary devices at the time but they just didn't get any proper updates. Both stuck on Jelly Bean and both having issues that a firmware upgrade could have cured. The K Zoom would have benefited from some firmware update love and an upgrade from KK 4.4.2 too was much needed.
I have always wanted to be able to afford to keep certain phones I buy in an archive. But due to the cost I tend to trade everything in to get the latest devices. If I had to choose which ones I would keep, then the K Zoom would be one of them. It is a great phone hybrid, it's a shame it didn't sell well and it's sad there is no successor in the pipeline.
So, why do you think the KZ didn't do so well?
I love the Kzoom - i will never be getting rid of it
I have a few fones , my main driver is zen2 4gb ram 64gb 64 bit SoC .
The kzoom is too luxurious to carry around , mainly for special events
The little development that has been, is enough for me -- its a special device and always will be in my eyes
The only fail is people just want the latest and thats not always the best !
Perhaps Samsung should consider aggressively supporting custom ROM development for the device?
I still use my KZ SM-C111 & take it everywhere I go, I think it's the best android smartphone ever. The only downside is no real support from Samsung.
I just wish anyone successfully make Lollipop Lite for KZ since it came with only 8GB capacity :crying:
it's big, it's heavy, it doesn't have enougth memory, the camera is not dust proof, the battery is too small, but I cannot find any other smartphone with a 10x zoom !
Hello, I really love my k zoom. The pictures are beautiful and the phone is absolutely not to heavy. Soon I can pick another phone but what about the motorola x style?
The fact its big and heavier than normal are exactly the reasons I was seriously considering getting one for my mum who has problems with her hands. The weight and size would be easier for her to hold, modern phones are too small and light that she would just drop them.
The fact its stuck on KitKat is a problem though as I worry about any security holes left in the OS due to no updates.
Love it!
:good:
I've got the K-Zoom from the time it just got out and love it.
The only thing that really suck is the way Samsung has been treating its customers with their crappy update policy but one cant blame the phone for that
The main reason the phone never really 'took off' is in my opinion:
Lack of publicity in Europe.
I havent met anyone in Europe who knew the phone. Everyone who sees it and whom I inform about its specs is interested. Especially in its camera's capability's. The huge lens that appears out of the phone amazes everyone as well as the quality of the pictures. Havent had any negative remarks about the looks or its weight. In fact I've had countless requests of people who wanted to buy it from me.
The name should have been S5 zoom to like the S4 zoom which was more of a camera that could make calls.
I only found out about the K-zoom after intensive search for a good camera phone. Most people don't take that time but after calling/messaging, making pictures/videos is the biggest thing on smartphones so the problem want lack of interest.
Sure there are better phones and better cameras but who wants to pack both all the time?
I love my K Zoom but I wish Samsung (or an XDA developer) would support Marshmallow on it and allow apps to be transferred to the SD card.

Here I am from Rome, I quote everything you say. Now I'm just waiting my other phone (P9) to come back from service due to a broken (insured) glass and I'll send there my KZoom to change and clean the lens. This is the only drawback of such a good phone and such an extraordinary camera (I took some wonderful night pictures in Pisa, couldn't believe my eyes). As soon as it will be back I will root it and try to swap memorys.

I recently damaged my screen with some water. Got me a S5 mini. These are rather cheap and are quite good actually as well as water resist
Its 8mp cam doesn't perform al that bad but it doesn't compare to the K-zoom which i'm definitely going to get fixed!
Our K-zooms are going to be collectors items since there have only been made and sold few of them i believe :good:
Samsung K Zoom was the king once
Bought this phone (CM 115) for my wife the other day since it was on special and she has always wanted one ever since it was released almost two years back. She absolutely loves her new K Zoom and it's so sad to see how such a powerful phone camera is being ignored by it's developer Samsung.
This phone is amazing with how smoothly it integrates with that camera on board. Just also hope that one day there might be a little bit of something coming from Samsung for this phone in terms of OS that might make this phone more current.
I too own the Galaxy K Zoom, it's a bit...damaged - but otherwise works fine
Got it super cheap due to the digitizer being cracked near the bottom, and thought it was the greatest thing ever with that massive camera!
Played around with it for a while and yeah, it's a great phone with reasonable specs, looks like an S5 (Which never bothered me), and was the perfect blend of a "Camera Phone".
For use as a phone - perfect. In your hands it feels just like that era of Samsung Devices, then go into Camera Mode and it becomes like one of Samsungs flagship cameras. It's amazing how that switch is so well thought out.
Hex-Core, 2GB RAM, 4G/LTE etc. At first I thought it has to be more powerful, logically than the S5 but I think I maybe wrong.
Probably due to being on 4.4.2 and my S5 being on 6.0.1, there's a noticeable difference in speed and all that. The S5 is snappy whereas the K Zoom is a bit laggy.
Camera - I used it a lot for some great photos of close ups of electronics, PCBs etc. Then I kind of got a little iffy with the battery draining quick when taking a decent amount of photos and with the whole phone getting pretty warm and went to my S5 again and was happy with it.
So for 6 months it's been in my DroidDraw, (I have a lot of unusual Android based phones in there) and this was hidden at the side along with my other camera based phones like my HTC Evo 3D and Sharp Aquos 3D Camera phone (SH16?), anyway, got the K Zoom out and really made me think why did this phone fail. It is a great phone but for consumers, being bulky, looking like a reused design, an old OS etc. I think it all attributed to it becoming just one of those fad phones.
Whatever, I appreciate it for what it is. Samsung need to do another phone mix up one day. They can do it. Just need the demands for it I suppose.
So nobody made Lolipop for this phone ? How come ?
Hi everyone! I have a Sony z3 and I'm really in love with Sony's devices.
I saw this phone but I have two questions :
1) it's possible to root it? Or there are problems with drm in the bootloader like on z3?
2) between this and the one plus 5 which one do you suggest? Which make the best photos and videos?
3) can you suggest me some good cover for this phone?

In a word, no. Not for the price. I never really have buyers regret but on this device I do. I wish i had just bought a HTC U11.
Positives
Good industrial design
Fingerprint scanner is great
Battery life is excellent
solid performance
Negatives
The camera in the day is great, not the best but not the worst. The camera in the evening is poor at best unless you have a tripod.
Obvious distortion issue on 95% of camera modules, people who say they don't I think are in denial, so that number is most likely 100%
The dual speakers are quiet and sound quality is also not the best.
The screen is great but the sub pixel arrangement means it is not as good as the HDR screen on the lower resolution G6 or S8.
The Headphone jack is great, but the volume is low. Having used the S8, iphone 7 and HTC U11, they are all much louder - Dongle or not.
The Frame of the phone is plastic and scratches very easily. My plastic case has scratched the sides already and I am very careful with my phones.
No MHL support, No figerprint support in USA, no wireless charging and althought the industrial design is good the screen to body ratio is poor.
I would save you money and buy a cheaper HTC U11 or One Plus 5.
All of which is publicly known for a long time now. All devices have pros and cons, the question is what your wiling to live with and what are you not able to do without.
Fact of the matter is this, whilst the camera is probably the most significant issue, pretty much everything else is just subjective ramblings of whoever your speaking too. Wireless charging? Wow but a deal breaker? I doubt it
Phone case a bit scratch prone? Who doesnt use cases on these phones these days.
Everything else except the camera is subjective, meaning some folk won't mind the audio, some will, some will not like the bezzle, some will.
Personally the u11 not having a jack is a deal breaker. Blooming stupid idea not having one given the cheapness of headphones. Sorry but if I've forgotten to bring my phones I'm not spending 25 quid on a new set, I'll be spending no more than a fiver from just about any shop on earth
The one plus 5 nice phone, but who's idea was it not to add a sd card slot?! And is got a comparatively low PPI.
And both of those have loaded with pish compared to the XZp relatively stock UI
Now that's not to say they are rubbish, you just need to work out what you want and what you can compromise with.

indecently, I got the XZp after a lot of deliberating.
And with the exception of the camera, I am happy with it.
Just hope they sort out the camera, not so much the wonky lines introduced by the lens, but by the overuse of sharpening, the camera is stunning as shown by the image on the screen but after processing, it certainly losses its flare, if someone is watching, if they wont change the processing, give us the option to shoot RAW and ill deal with it
If you are watching a lot of videos on Youtube, Netflix and Amazon Prime and you also transfer many movie files into your phone, then buy it and you will never regret it. But if you are not watching a lot of media content then wait for the XZ1.
I don't have any of above mentioned pro lens. And I am vary happy with the phone. Speakers are enough loud and the audio is perfect from the ear pads. No distortion at all.

I haven't owned a phone with a memory card slot in about five years and haven't missed it

Na, my old dear doesn't either but the she's 65 an can barely turn the phone on. I on the other hand have a requirement for an expansion slot, not just for additional storage but for peace of mind, knowing that should my phone go to the great rubbish dump in the sky, its important data is kept safe and to hand where ever I might be.
The 1 second slow-mo is a joke. And the blocked FM radio tuner is also a slap in the face of every Sony customer out there. Not to mention the other blocked features.
If you tell me what cloud service I can use, I will upload some photos.

Yeah, its a wonderful service that, when you are connected to the internet, allows you to backup and stream data. The problem is moving 30GB of Data on to the cloud and downloading it takes a fair old toll on your Data plan unless you are connected to wifi and, shock horror, wifi isn't everywhere and even if it is, it can be A, Throttled, or B Data Limited which kinda sucks, it also takes a great deal of time.
What you are saying in a round about way is this, you don't actually need two legs these days, you can get away with a wheel chair in most places so actually, lets lob our legs off our new borns because they are clearly redundant. Ludicrous? yes but its the same with expansions slots, you don't NEED an expansion slot but having them can make life awfully simple.
Just the other day I decided to de-brand my XZp. Wiped the device and back up and running in a few min, all my work is exactly where I left it, all my photos are right there various other backups for a number of other apps plus music blar blar blar. all there, no fannying about having to download it all again
Disdrediting something as simple as a expansion slot is daft, yes not everyone needs them but if you do, its better to have and not need then need and not have. Same with the 3.5mm jack (which I notice my comment isn't being challenged as much on here) Do we need it? no, does it make life simple, yes.

oh one other thing, my kids are like 12, I sincerely hope I'm not a Grandpa, around my neck of the woods Pre-Teen parents are thankfully few and far between, but I realise in some other parts of the world its more common practice, so just for future reference, I'm Not a Grandparent.
We all know the hardware capability is there but it has been bottlenecked on purpose. MHL anyone?
XZ Premium is for those who like the most advanced tech in their phone like a 4k Display, dual speakers, 960 slow mo camera, etc...
But it's definitely not for "Common Stream Product Lovers" like Samsung or Apple fanboys. As much as the Hardware is awesome and Sony Quality, the Drivers are terrible. All complaints you will hear about the XZ premium are in fact Software based.
- Wide Angle Camera has Distortion? Really? This is completely normal and expected. But this pushes people to complain because Sony isn't as good as coding a proper software to counter balance the distortion.
- Sound? That's completely relative in so many levels. First, when you listen to HD audio, the speakers are awesome. The sound can't be cleaner and the level is just right. But 90% of apps and low quality media will not sound as good. Again, it's a software issue. For some reason, you open an APP and the sound is too Loud and sounds really bad. You open another and you hear nothing. And sometimes you hear some high quality sound and go "wtf? The speakers are that good so why all the other stuff sounds so terrible?". Again, Sony's Drivers. It's like they don't even care.
4K Display? Best Display ever. And even better for VR. Do not believe that complete BS that LCD is not good for VR etc... I have written a whole thread about it, and there I explain how this is BS. The first 8K VR headset uses an LCD display. So what's the problem then? Again no Support from Sony for nice 4K Content, (Except Youtube), and not even any APP. And no, there's no shadow effect whatsoever. What people complain about is in fact the 30 FPS blurriness because of stereoscopic settings. ( Stereoscopy can't have a constant setting in any distance. So if an item on the image moves fast, this will cause the 3D effect to get off because sterescopy can't work at the same level wherever you look in the display. That's why Samsung is in fact working on a VR which tracks your eyes so they can focus immediately where you look. This will help them to not only fix the 3D continuity but also lower the need for resources by lowering the resolution anywhere you're not actually looking). (and btw, If XZ premium would allow its processor to play 4K at 60 FPS, even this wouldn't be an issue). But of course, this is less detectable on Amoled displays. Oh, Amoled have this problem too. The Note 7 Gear VR gets also blurry as any other 3D rendering device. Even 3D movie theaters have this problem. Finally, a 4K LCD is like 100000000x way better than any 2K Amoled. The absence of the screen door effect alone is worth it. But again, Sony doesn't even advertise that. Cause they really don't care.
------- Bottom Line:
Dude. This is the BEST Phone you can get. Ever. The Note 8, iPhone 8, etc.. are all Complete BS next to this Phone....
BUT, once you buy it, you are left alone with it. Sony doesn't have your back like Samsung or Apple. So if you're not a Tech Enthousiast who takes time to tweak his phone, tweak Apps, etc.. Stay away from it.
Sony is simply the best and this phone is easily the best.
There's literally no other brand I can see myself buying since all have weird stuff going on.

Totally agreed to this opinion. And I can add that for me it works on flawlessly. Battery, Sound on HI res audio is amazing.
lol i had the xperia xzp for about a week and what a phone it is the display and front speakers where amazing and i have always liked the design and the launcher of the xperias
what was bad for me was the camera and they always have been for me on xperia devices and ive had a few
xperia z,z1,z2,z3,xzp had them all and the cameras have always been the weak point for me which is really frustrating as on paper they have the best hardware for the cameras then all the competition but for me just seem to fail especially in low light
and now the whole not been able to root on locked bootloaders was it for me as ive never unlocked my bootloaders as ive never wanted to loose xreality ect
so i jumped on the bandwagon and now got the galaxy s8 plus but im starting to already miss my xzp
my views to anyone is get the xzp its a famous case of quality over quantity which all sony products not just phone have
There is certainly a lot more to a phone then benchmarks, I haven't yet seen a reliable means of benchmarking the UI, fluidity is one of the primary reasons I went for the XZp, but you can only really gauge that by watching it and comparing. personally I haven't experienced a single stutter despite very heavy usage and running some bloated crap not even once has this phone stuttered on the UI.
Its actually very impressive, but it's also entirely subjective.
On paper it may not appear to hold It's own when compared to others but in your hand I think it tells a different story.
I would like to see some evidence that Sony has deliberating DISABLED Features, I don't see how you can possibly know that to be true at this stage but if it is true then yes that's a single black mark against the XZp. Not sure FM radio is a deal breaker in my mind but each to their own
Thread cleaned
While healthy debates over which brand is better are okay, please try to not cross the line and keep it civil. Remember, not everyone will share your opinion and whatever you say or do will change their opinion/thinking
Now lets try and help the OP regarding whether to buy the XZ Premium or not
Honestly, I'd wait to see what the XZ1 brings.
I went with the XZ Premium because I wanted a dual sim phone, and the Compacts don't seem to come with dual sim support.
I would have waited for the XZ1 Compact but the 4k really sold me on this thing. It's great for watching videos in VR (Although I need to to change the resolution with ADB first).
If you're not looking for dual sim, the XZ1 Compact *should* come with an S835. I'd go for that one, but that's just me.
