[Completed] [Q] Unwanted notifications - how to stop them? - XDA Assist

Hi,
I use Tapatalk on Windows and Android, and get DOZENS of XDA notifications every day from forums I have never visited or subscribed to.
How do I get XDA to stop sending these random notifications?
Thanks,
Mark.

Hi,
Go to the app settings, notifications and unchecked the categories you don't want notification for. Or all of them.
?

Hi
The android one is set as I like it, just subscribed topics and forums. At present just one topic no forums... So I shouldn't be getting all this stuff!
The windows version doesn't seem to have those settings, I'll look again later. Tx.

When subscribed to a forum section and forum section notification is on... You get a notification about every single new thread created.

Hi darth.
I am subscribed only to one thread and no forums... but got 37 notifications in a day, see the jpeg attached...
So frustrating.

Ah! Those are notifications of posts of yours that were quoted. In Tapatalk and xda app you can uncheck notification of quoted posts. Honestly, the notification system can be whacky tho..... See here for where I mean,

Thanks Darth,
that pic I attached I guess do not explain why I get notifications for forums I am not subscribed to... and my Tapatalk app is set for getting NO notifications from subscribed forums.
I will check out that other thread you mentioned.
Cheers,
Mark.

Again, those 37 quotes are from your posts that have been quoted by others.
I don't know about your other notifications, but that's what those 37 are. ?
I just quoted so, so there's another. ?

See these images,
Not subscribed to any forums
Subscribed to ONE topic
And see the type of notification I am getting to some new thread in a forum I have never seen...
Not subscribed to any forums:
Subscribed to ONE thread only (this thread!):
Yet I keep on getting these notifications for new threads that I am not interested in receiving... how do I stop these:
I'd love to get to the bottom of this...
Tx
Mark.

I'm Confused.... You Began saying the Apps were sending you notifications, but your screen shots are the browser. Is your issue notifications in general, like in the browser, 9r received ones on your device from the apps... Which I showed you how to turn off.
Well, I showed you where to ask about app issues, and for notification issues in general, Please ask here...

XDA Assist is here to help navigate the site, not for support.... So not much more to discuss here.
Good luck! Thread closed.

XDA notifications?

Is there anyway I can get notifications like we get for PMs but when somebody replies to your post in a thread? Some threads are huge and I can't find where I posted my question, comment, concern, and can't find who replied and what they said?! Is there a feature I just can't find or does that just not exist? Please PM me with the answer, because I at least get a notification that I got a reply then. Thanks!
From what I can see there is nothing like that available on XDA (I couldn't be wrong, but I don't think so). You can however use the subscription feature that is built into vBulletin. Go to User CP > Edit Options > Subscriptions and change it from None to one of the options. That will then add a thread to your subscription list and show you when new posts have been made in that thread.
I have mine set to No Email which just adds the thread to your subscriptions list, I can't be bothered with the emails it sends you.
I'm thinking this is the closest feature you'll find to what you're wanting.

As far as I know, that's the best you can get with the software this forum is using.
Unless you mark threads as read, the "View first unread" feature (either visible in the thread, or the ">" icon next to thread titles in the forum view) will take you to the first reply after your post, and the emails/notifications links should take you to the first unread post in a thread.

questions about the forum

I don't know if this thread is in the right section; if necessary plz move it. I have some questions about the forum; is there a link to quickly access all new replies to my posts/threads?(this exists in several forums) or access all my posts in general. Maybe there's already one but can't find it.. maybe put it at top right, right to "private messages"

In your usercp is an option for subscriptions. Subscribe to threads when you reply (option is in settings to auto subscribe)
Choose no email subscription unless you want email notifications, and then go to usercp to see the subscribed threads.
i already done that but a quick link to all new replies to my posts would have been better imo
Go into your profile, then statistics. There will be "find all posts by *username*" and "find all threads started by *username*". That should give you an easy way to navigate around what you've posted.
lol yeah i know too.. i just wanted to know if there were quicker shortcuts. Anyway thx for all ur help.

XDA app issues

EDIT: app thread linked in following post
The thread is here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841646
(Not an android user so I can't answer your questions)
Thanks

I tried searching for 'XDA app,' but I guess thats too frequently used to find a thread dedicated to the app, so I thought I would start one in order to address certain issues with the XDA app.
Here are some complaints I have with the app:
1. It won't save my favorite threads. If I navigate to the thread, the menu tells me it is a favorite, yet the thread doesn't show up in my favorites tab.
2. Kind of minor, but I think adding a 'search this thread' option would be nice a well.
Can anyone else confirm these issues?

1. It will show in the favorite tab if you refresh the app. But I personnally prefer to mark it with the star so it is immediately displayed in my favorite threads.
2. I agree. The search function isn't very useful on the application as you get results from all the forum threads which makes it hard to find posts related to your question.

[Completed] Help needed

Good Day guys
How do I get notified as soon as any new posts appear in a forum I am interested in ?, that being "Huawei MediaPad X2" forum.
I have the XDA android app, can it be done using that? or by using some automation app such as IFTTT?
Would be great to know as soon as some new content is posted automatically instead of manually checking through all the threads in the forum.
Many thanks
Mark

Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist.
You can be automatically notified of new activity in the forum(s) of your choice by using the "subscribe" feature. You can do so from the XDA App's menu or by clicking on the "subscribe forum" link from your browser while viewing the forum. You can manage your subscribed threads from your User Control Panel at http://forum.xda-developers.com/subscription.php.
For matters dealing with how best to use the XDA Developers site, you may want to browse the "About xda-developers.com" forum at http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/about-xda.
I hope this was helpful.

[Completed] Help! Keep getting "Ubertesters" update message

Hey guys,
For the past week I keep getting these annoying pop up fullscreen messages, something like:
"Please, install the latest Ubertesters hub version"
I can't recall downloaded any app lately, and I have no idea on where to begin...
What can I do?
Thanks!
Help, anyone?
Went through my app list, and I can't seem to find anything I didn't have for a long time time now. Nothing seems suspicious.
I have no idea what might cause this and it's freaking me out!
