Hey All,
Just checked the USA Samsung web store and saw that the official Samsung Wireless Charging Vehicle Dock is FINALLY available! It's a bit on the pricey side at $99, but it looks to be very high quality, I'm thinking about picking one up. If I do I'll be sure to write a review! Anyway, just figured I'd post here as a PSA!
Is there anyone else here (maybe from across the pond) who's bought one of these and can speak to the quality and functionality of this charger? I'd love to hear some thoughts from someone who's actually used it.

I use it without the sticker. It holds just fine.
Just make sure the charger has no lint on it.

This is pretty sweet I might get the Metallic case but I wish they would provide a front view of it. If I do get it I'll probably post a pic of it.

I honestly didn't. I wish I had, my poor third-party excuse for a "hard case" FAILS. Hasn't fit correctly since day 1...I dropped it once, and the case split open, leaving the phone to bounce on the pavement (ejecting the battery).
Needless to say I was pissed. lol
Anyways, back on topic ...I might order up the TPU case, just wish I had a frontview also...

Correct that's what I paid when I bought mine.
Sent from my Nexus One
can anyone find more pictures of the Nexus One Metallic Hard Shell Case in Black?
i have a seidio innocase II, but i really want to try this case! i just want to see more pictures of it!
I actually paid $55 for my car dock on May 15, 2010. The spare battery was $25. Paid $5 for 2nd day air shipping. Wish I had bought the desktop dock at that point. It was certainly $15 cheaper.
I have the desktop dock on order through HTC, and it was backordered until the 18th of August when I placed the order. That got pushed back to the 25th of August. We'll see what happens on the 25th. With the free shipping, it is really only $10 more expensive. That just isn't worth crying about.
Bryan
I bought two desk docks and the car dock via eBay (shipping US to the UK, marked as gift ). Still worked out cheaper than buying them from the official site (Google's at that time). Not that cheap, but I do love how they work and how well they're made. I hope future developer phones will use the same connectors. Such a great design.
I'll post pics of my metallic case if HTC would stop pushing my order back, it was suppose to ship last week and now it says 8/27/10 WTF
they pushed the date back AGAIN
why does it feel like they're never actually going to ship anything?
can anyone give me a link where to buy an original battery? thank before
I don't think you can, but if i recall correctly, the nexus uses the same battery as some of the other HTC phones
I currently have a htc aria using a charging cradle to charge my phone when I'm home and about to get an inspire soon and was wondering if anyone has tried a this charging cradle for their inspire. I assume the desire hd and the inspire have the exact location for the usb port so it should fit fine? I'm trying to get the same cradle as my aria that would fit the inspire when I get it since the one I have for the aria works great.
Heres what I was looking at from eBay:

Looks pretty legit, I too am looking for a solid docking station in the sub $20 range

I wonder if the phone will fit in that cradle if you have a case.....say the otterbox commuter.

Here's two photos I just took ... I unpackaged it. I don't like the feel of sliding the device into it, gives me the eebie jeebies hearing the sound. I'm afraid if I bump it that it'll break the usb port inside my phone
So its crap? also is it overly tight in the dock and is it stable
And what screen protector are you using

Honestly it's what I'd expect for $18 from HKG... I won't use it, I'm going to return it to Amazon. It's snug side to side, but you really have to get it just right to slide down onto the USB adaptor. This is common with any aftermarket dock, and always concerns me that sliding it on and off might damage after a while.
It'd be nice if it were a little better quality, but oh well. I don't like it, and won't be using it.
I have the Zagg invisible shield on the phone. I like it because of the ease of getting replacements if the device is replaced or if I have any issues with it. Got it at best buy for $20, but used a 12% off coupon and a $5 rewardzone certificate, so came in at about $12, which I think you can do better on eBay\Zagg.com lol... I just have instant gratification disorder, hehe
Grr now im off looking for a different dock. Ever since i got one for my iPad i just need them. Its so much simpler to charge =).

For an iPad yeah, but for a phone no. Every time you get a text you either have to pick up the whole dock, or undock it... to hell with that. Cord = better.

yeah that wouldn't be so bad, this would work for that, so long as you're careful with putting it in and out.

Did you happen to find any night/bedside/charging docks?
I finally received my cradle in today. Looks like the one I have for the aria, but the fitment is different for the inspire. Feels a bit loose around the sides and looks like there should of been a spot to have a 3.5mm audio jack next to the usb. Stability with the phone on the cradle feels like it is unstable if you touch the screen a lot with the phone on the cradle. It seems ok for what I'm using it for though. I only have it to charge while I sleep so it should be ok as I don't touch it. All in all, it could be better, but gets the job done.

Pics pleasee
Is your port rough or tight to plug in? If so, has it loosened up a bit over time?
Mine's practically fallen out since the day I got it.
On the Pad, its fairly loose and floppy. But on the keyboard dock, its pretty snug and tight.
Sung fit on both with a reassuring "click" when fully inserted.
That's not very reassuring....

Seems like I'm the only one so far. It hasn't been an issue for me, but my tablet fitting is not snug like it is on the dock.
Buy it from a reputable retailer (e.g., Amazon) and test it when you get it. If it's not to your liking, exchange it. No problem, really.
Does anyone know if the Powermat or the Energizer charging platforms will work with the TP? I was in Target this past weekend and noticed that they were clearanced for 75% off retail price. The idea is nice but I don't want to waste $30 if it won't work.
No neither one will work with your TP. I don't think it would even recognise it was on the charger.

$29.99 + $5 shipping ($35) Used is worse than $36.99 + FS New at same url unless at the time you originally posted there were better prices on used.
Yea why would you not go with the touchstone
I really like my TouchStone. Not plugging in cables, and having a real "home" for my TouchPad when not in use is great. Plus it works with the HP case, something I also really like.

Which case are you talking about? I'd love to be able to charge without having to stretch out my case. I hardly use my touchstone because my folio is starting to get loose.

you could turn it horizontally so gravity doesn't mess with it, or lay it down flat, then put touchpad on top

Pretty much any case as long as it's not too thick (and doesn't have metal between the tp and ts). I have a 'leather' case that works fine sitting on the ts and a tpu form fitting case that also works well. This one is now permanently on the tp and will fit into the leather case but the two together will not allow the tp to charge on the touchstone.
So it seems there are no "3rd party" chargers available?
I want a touchstone, but all the cheap ones are in the US and they don't ship to Australia
In Australia (or anywhere that is willing to ship here) pretty much charges double for the dock ($70?!), and that's not even counting shipping yet.

So it just sets in there? There's no securing it down?
There is no real Need to. The back holds it in place. i thought of some thin 3M tape but would make it thicker. I have seen some thinner wireless receivers out there but they are hard to get and charge with half the power.

I have this one as well and the 'power qi' labeled charger I ordered came in today. Works great! 'Very' slight bulge but really hard to see. I was expecting worse, and think this bulge thing is overstated a bit.
I've got the Trident Aegis case which is pretty bulky and creates a good gap. Although a little more finicky (must be in the right spot) than without the case, it charges fine.
Overall I'm very happy...and I just ordered another charger.... my eBay seller in Hong Kong got the first one to me in 10 days! (I'm in the US).
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2
What charger base is he using? Or do you guys use?
The insert took me 10 days to get...US here as well. Well worth the wait and way better then the one from samsung!
Like i said with the case you cant tell anything is there and without it you really cant tell either. I mean that tiny back would not close if it was really bad!
I am using the Nexus Charging Orb that i got when i order my nexus 4. Straight from the play store. Its a little pricey but its crazy awesome quality and direct from google. It is a 1000mA charger
I will see if i can get a charging screen shortly
I'm using the same charging receiver . Got it from an online retailer (fasttech) at much cheaper price.
quick delivery, but this is the first time i'm having a problem with what they sent.
This one is not working for me. Quite erratic. It just keeps on connecting and disconnecting the charging .
maybe I'm the only one receiving a defective piece. Will wait for fasttech's response before heading to aliexpress.
If you hate the "huge" bulge, just get another cheap back cover and cut a hole for the charger (with heated knife or something really sharp), then secure it with some tape. Put even the thinnest case on top and you're ready to go.
That is unless the case is transparent
