I have a nexus 5 which i want to flash with new ROM. For this purpose i wipe the full cell phone including the dalvik, cache, system, data and internal storage. the reason for this is that after complete wipe i wanted to copy the downloaded ROM to the internal storage of the NEXUS 5. but when i tried to connect the cell phone with my pc it shows a message ' Driver not installed successfully'[/B][/B][/U][/B]. please tell me what is the reason for this problem and what is the solution.
Thanks

Why don't you try this thread which has plenty of information on this exact topic..

Hello XDA Developers,
First off let me say thank you for all the information always found on your forums, however I've run into a snag with my phone (HTC EVO Shift 4g) and need some help. I was doing a factory reset of my device using the tool in the Clockwork Mod Recovery (v5.0.2.0) and I went to wipe some additional data off my SD card, and inadvertently chose to format the /system, and pretty much every directory in the storage menu, which I later realized I probably shouldn't have done as now I can't get my phone to boot. Where the snag falls into here, I had made a backup of all my data on my SD card but have misplaced my full backup made through the clockwork mod. When I try booting my phone it simply comes up with the white boot screen with the "htc" logo in green. I have tried about everything I could possibly think of to get my shift working again, since it won't fully boot, the only option I've been able to try have been trying to get a ROM to install from a .zip, but I keep running into errors, did I manage to wipe out some sort of critical data when I did those formats?? Any help you guys can offer me will be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thank you in advance for your expertise and input on this.
NOTE: I have tried to download one of the STOCK RUU's that you guys have posted, I have yet to find one that will actually download or resolve my issue!
Sounds like you wiped and formatted everything.. Including your sd card.
Download a ROM to your pc - In clockwork go to mounts and storage - plug your phone into your pc and select mount usb. Transfer the ROM onto your sd card, unmounted your sd, wipe then flash.

Alright man all that happened was when you hit format system, you wiped the ROM from the phone, so download any ROM of choice go into recovery then mount as a storage device and transfer the ROM to the SD card, unmount then format system, data, cache and dalvik cache and flash the ROM and you will be fine

Ok but does anyone have a stock RUU Rom I can download to do this? I'd kind of like to revert to stock in this process and I can't find one that works properly, thanks!

Can you boot into clock work recovery? That's all you need.
Recently i have decided to change roms due to slight stability issues (i need a more stable rom for medical reasons), i decided to opt for JediX14, it looks nice, seems to have everything i would like in a rom and from what reviews ive read, seems like a near perfect rom.
However, I have tried repeatedly to install this Rom, using both Team Win and the Clockwork Mod Recoveries. Every time i install the rom, regardless of wether i select to switch the internal memory and SD card or not. When i check the storage, internal memory is always 0.00B
I'm currently working my way through the (nearly 700 pages) of replies from the JediX14 thread.
Using the search option, i've only found solutions for other mobiles.
My SD Card is currently FAT32, 32GB
Here are my exact steps i take, im typing this as i flash again, so i don't miss any important information, right now:
Reboot into recovery.
Factory Reset.
Wipe Internal Storage.
Wipe System.
Wipe Dalvik Cache.
Wipe Cache.
Install JediX14_Full.zip from SD card.
Wipe Dalvik Cache (again).
Fix Permissions.
Boot and leave for quater of an hour or so...
Re-boot.
If i run a restore via TWRP, my internal memory shows as normal (a little over 10 GB free).
How can i fix this?
Any help is very much appreciated, thanks in advance, again, thank you!.
Try to format it from the settings.

Hi there have a i have a sloution look at my video on youtube my channel is namz123uk i have 2 videos check both like comment n subscribe
Hello Sensationalists,
After 3 years I have upgraded my phone to an HTC One and would like to sell my old phone.
It is currently running ICS Android Revolution HD 7.3.
What I would like to do is wipe all data from my SD drive and sell the phone with a pre-installed latest version of Android Revolution. I have found several tools for erasing but do not want to brick my phone or do anything rash, so here I am asking the pro's :
What would be the best way to erase all data from my HTC Sensation (full erase, non recoverable) and provide the buyer with a clean installation of the phone?
I believe the factory reset is no longer possible due to the custom ROM installation etc. (been a while since I have worked with the phone so not sure).
Please be easy on me with the technical terms and abbreviations, I'm a little rusty .
Many thanks in advance!
just use the full wipe option from recovery and then install ARHD ROM again

Wipe data/Factory reset?
It asks me 'About to wipe data, cache and sd-ext partitions.. Wipe all Userdata?'. This is what you mean right? It's in the recovery EXT4 program.
And if I have done that then the entire thing is unrecoverable? So no private data can be found by using recovery programs?

if you have 4ext recovery use the format all partitions except sdcard option
i assume it is unrecoverable

But I want to wipe the SD card as well. Should I do 'Format all partitions (except SDcard)' and after that 'Format sdcard'? I read that people use special programs to completely wipe all data from SD cards with programs like 'RoadKill's diskwipe'. But if this program does the same thing then I'm good, I doubt it though, that's why I ask .

now i see
you want to wipe the sdcard too
hmm,
i don't know if from 4ext will be unrecoverable but it would be better to use a program to wipe it from pc

The thing is, I'm afraid that if I do this, reinstalling my phone will be a pain since EXT4 is put on the SDcard as far as I know. So if EXT4 doesn't wipe the data completely, and I have to use a PC program, I want to make sure I don't brick the device or delete crucial content for a clean installation.
So let me rephrase: How to wipe (unrecoverable) all data from my HTC Sensation including the SDcard, without losing the possibility of reinstalling the phone whilst avoiding the possibility of bricking the device/losing the possibility of a clean installation
I don't want the person that buys my phone to have access to files formerly stored on the SDcard or the phone itself.

by formating anything from 4ext won't brick the device at all
by the way 4ext is not on sdcard
it has its own partition in emmc

I did not know that, thanks! I'll just use a program from my PC then to wipe all data, then do a format all partitions (except SDcard) and do a clean installation of Android Revolution 7.3 ICS for the new buyer. This should suffice then right? Will this also wipe the data on my phone, numbers etc.? (I will destroy my simcard since I won't need it any more).

Perfect, that's what I need. I'll start... ehh.. wiping then...
It worked btw, a full format from windows 7 made it impossible to recover data by using recovery programs. All data was wiped and new OS is running . Thanks a lot!
Hey guys, i havent owned a device in which i ever needed to use fastboot in and i learned how to for my one plus. Something is confusing me though... when i flash pieces of a rom onto my phone why do i not need to erase the phone first? Is it possible to erase everything off your phone before using fastboot and i mean EVERYTHING including the rom thats on it. When i had my gs4 i used twrp to wipe the entire device except the external sd card which had the rom in it and once it deleted everything off the phone i would install the new rom. Im kind of a clean freak in a sense... so how do i do that with the one plus and also if there is a way to completely wipe my device would it somehow mess something up... its kinda risky since opo doesnt have ext sd card which you can put a rom in if its bricked and just go into recovery and flash it... so what do you experts think?!
Edit: BASICALLY what i want to know is... if my device had no os to boot on and was basically lets say soft bricked it would be very easy to just use fastboot and install a rom correct?
When installing a ROM all you do first is wipe system/data/cache/dalvik cache using TWRP. At no point do you need to wipe the internal storage (virtual sd card). Fastboot shouldn't even come into the equation when installing a ROM. But, if you happen to wipe your OS and also wipe your internal storage, you can use adb while in TWRP to push a ROM zip to the phone to flash. My advice: don't ever wipe your sd card, there's no need for it.

Are you sure? Kay. I'll trust you on that until I feel adventurous and wanna try it but thanks anyways.

Yeah I'm sure, why would you need to wipe the sd card? The point of wiping the system, data, cache, and dalvik cache partitions is so you don't have remnants of a previous OS lingering when installing a new OS (obviously that will cause problems). The internal storage does not contain elements of the OS, it contains user data and user media. It is very (read: extremely) rare for data on the internal storage to cause problems and need to be wiped.

The reason why is because i want to actually delete all my data. I dont know any other way that any other app can delete literally all my data off the phone and make my phone be at the max capacity again.
Just wipe your internal storage from recovery in addition to the other things already listed

Hi all, i played around with my Moto G a while back, got the bootloader unlocked, put a new ROM on. Did a backup which i wanted to delete but couldnt... everytime i did a fresh install it was still there eating my memory so i wiped everything off my phone using TWRP (internal the lot!) now ive got nothing on my phone, no operating system nothing.
anybody got a tutorial to get it back up and running again? or at least some ideas on how to dispose of it haha.
thanks in advance.
*EDIT*
This post can be deleted now thanks! I have resolved this matter very easily with a very imaginative way that i never thought of. i couldnt reinstall another rom as my computer wouldnt reconise my phone in ADB. but using this method below i was able to very easily...

Alternate Method : Noob Friendly.
First of all backup your sd card (i.e data/media)
Flash Philz Touch 6.26.6 Recovery
Hope you have OTG cable and a pendrive.
Copy the rom which you want to install on pendrive. Attach pendrive through OTG.
(backup your current rom on usbdisk. For this goto Backup and Storage. Find option backup on storage/usbdisk )
Now, select Wipe Data/Factory Reset. It will ask Wipe to install new rom,tap on it. Say Yes.
After that goto Mounts and Storage and format /data and /data/media (/sdcard). Say Yes.
Done.
Now flash your favorite custom rom.
Select the option install from sdcard. Then select usbdisk. Select your custom rom and install it
*END QUOTE*
so hats off to "amit.lohar"
For future:
If delete info of internal storage, you can recover it with DiskDigger. Root required.
