[Q] Stuck in boot after flashing 5.0.1 - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As the title says, I flashed the factory image (I am rooted). Everything was successful, but I've been stuck in the boot (yellow, red, green, blue dots spinning) for about 45 minutes. Booted back into recovery and it's just an android icon with red exclamation point. What do I do?
Thanks

Did u flashed it using multirom ? What kernel r u using and wich rom ?

I was on TWRP and flashed using fastboot

So u cant access ur recovery dod u tried a toolkit to simply flash a new rom using your pc ?

Wipe cache from recovery. it should boot up afterwards.

Er.. If you flashed factory images, of course your custom recovery gets replaced by stock recovery (the android with the exclamation mark).

did you ever figure this out? I am having the same problem but on a nexus 4

Do a factory reset in the stock recovery

I would boot to fastboot and reflash twrp...then flash a pre-rooted 5.0 rom.
In comparison to a lot of other devices, the N5 is pretty difficult to really screw up.

please help i tried rooting my Nexus S

hey guys i tried rooting my nexus s and now when trying to boot up the phone im stuck at the google boot screen with the unlocked padlock at the bottom. i can get into clockwork recovery and i flashed super user but i cant get onto android OS is there anyone who can help me please?
Have u installed a rom from zip?

Also, you should specify which nexus S version you tried to root and which guide you followed.
jj, u need to flash new ROM of your choice from zip file under CWR.
The reason why u stuck on the Google screen is cos when u rooted and unlocked the boot loader u also erase all data including the stock ROM. But u should know that cos its mentioned in every root & bootloader unlock procedure
So just go into Nexus S Android Development where u can find and download the ROM of your choice.
After just boot into CWR and install the ROM from .zip file.
U will find whole procedure how to flash it under every ROM thread.

Unlocking the bootloader doesn't erase the existing os..it just wipes all the data and apps. It would still boot into the stock Android image until he flashes a custom ROM.

No. It wipes the sd and all user data. It has the same effect as using stock recovery to do a factory reset.

stuck in recovery 5.5.0.4

hi i need help i flash back to stock whit heimdall .. but now im trying to install the unnoficial ... from red recovery everything works but when i reboot after the second flash it just reboots again and again on recovery
wtf now im stuck on 3e recovery
Sometimes I get stuck like that after I flash back to stock. Try wiping the cache in 3e recovery and rebooting. That fixes it for me usually. If not, maybe you could flash again. Hope this helps.

tried couple of roms CM 10/10.1

btw i can go back to stock using my nandroid backup without any problems (4.1.1) ,
Thanks.
Is the ROM actually made for the C2 variant? Because you have done everything right, it must just be that the ROM is basically for the wrong phone
By the way, use TWRP 2.3.3.0. Best one.

maybe there is a hardware problem on ur phone before going to repair it from the service center well flash it with the RIFF BOX its a universal flasher that can flash almost every bricked phone no matter its hard brick or soft brick or fully dead.
Did you try the software version 1.43.720.2 available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2225776?
In that case, working flashable zip's that don't bootloop are available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40385554&postcount=76
The download links for the zip files provided by OP misses some necessary config files in the /system/etc folder due to which the ROM doesn't boot. I patched it up, and uploaded it (second link).

Hey buddy no problem with the recovery, thing is awesome recovery is modified and works for flashing limited roms, if you want to flash miui vs 4 revised i would suggest you to flash CMW or TWRP 2.6 again
