Hi,
Any questions you have about your device can be asked here,
> Legacy & Low Activity Devices > Sony Xperia C > Xperia C Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
If you're rooted now, backing up with titanium backup is your best bet. Only user apps and data. If what you are going to do will wipe your device, you'll need to transfer the titanium backup folder to your PC and back again after you've updated, to the same location on the phone. That's the easiest way.
Trying to backup and restore system apps is never a good idea, IMHO. It can cause you many issues.
If you are not rooted, try helium backup.
Any further questions, please ask in the link above, so the experts who own your device can help.
Good luck!

Hi, I have backed up my viber message through helium from my old nexus 4 device , transfer the carbon folder to my desktop and sold the nexus 4. After that I have bought Oneplus One. Install Helium on my Oneplus one.
Copy the carbon folder to my Phone's internal storage. Activate helium via Helium desktop, install Viber and activate viber. After that I have restore the viber backup via helium restore option.
It shows that the viber message are restored. I launch viber 1st I can see the message and then viber again request for activation and the message are gone.
Can anyone help me what to do?? :crying: really need to restore the messages.
Hi
Now that the N4 is gone, you might be out of luck here. Here's a thread on how to backup.... But without the N4 now, it likely unit helpful...
> Android Development and Hacking > Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > [Q] Viber messages backup anyone?
You could try asking here if your helium backup I'd of any use now.
Good luck!
Hi,

You could ask in the thread I linked, or here

What about restoring your last system backup in TWRP?
And be a little bit more cautious with freezing system apps next time.
If you don't have a recent system backup, you may have to flash the ROM/firmware again.
For questions about your device, please ask in the Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum.
And here is a guide to unbrick your device: Galaxy S 4 Mini General > [UNBRICK/DOWNGRADE GUIDE][1 mirror added][all bootloaders] How to unbrick your device.

For general info about Titanium Backup, check this thread: [Guide] Noobs guide to use Titanium Backup for backup and restore of apps..
Best to ask in the Q&A forum of your device that I linked in my previous answer.
Thread closed and thank you.
Has anyone had success? I flash ROMs a lot, and every once in awhile it works. I don't want to use something like Titanium Backup if there's already a Google app that does it. For one, there's too much crap in there, no setting just to choose all non-stock apps, for example. When Google's supposed auto restore works, it's nice. Hell, Google already has the ability to figure out what IS and what ISN'T on your device just from download and install records on Play. It was exciting a few months ago on Lollipop when it not only asked me if I wanted to restore, but let me choose which device, and which backup image. Restored it wonderfully(The old one would restore everything that had ever been installed on the device). I really just want to know how to force this restore option if it doesn't come up on its own. Same with making it do a backup when I get everything set the way I'd like.
I just don't understand what causes it to sometimes work and sometimes not. This doesn't seem like something that would be ROM dependent, and it sure seems like Google would have had plenty of opportunity to make it work correctly by now.
And yeah, I choose "Back up and Restore" when I first set up a device after flashing...
Sir,
Usually under settings there's a "Back up and reset" section. In there is the option to backup and automatic restore. If this section isn't included in the rom, then no it won't automatically backup and restore your Google stuff. Therefore you can't force it too.
Also when you install a new rom the device id changes. TiBu can restore your previous id and then the market will download your previous stuff. But tibu has to be installed first.
To do this you can make an "update.zip" with TiBu that you flash when installing a new rom. That will force it!
For any other questions, considering that you are Senior Member, please ask in the approppiate section for your device/firmware or in the general section for Android:

Hi
I have been struggling for a while to get the phone working again. When Dropbox failed to sync my 1gb pdf file, my /data became corrupted, I couldn't install anything and it was set as read only.
Managed to fastboot into CWM and perform a mkfs /ext2 on /data, and from then I was able to format /data. Thus I now have a "fresh" Kitkat OS.
Before I had these problems, I have made two nandroid backups (CWM and TWRP) and one Titanium backup. The CWM went gone when I did the parted mkfs /ext 2 so I couldn't restore from that. When I restored from TWRP, I got the UID mismatched error your device is unstable. So I thought it was a nandroid backup failure, and deleted that backup.
The only backup I have left is Titanium Backup. But everytime I try to restore an app + data, I get "Parsing error" and it hangs there. Using ES File Explorer I am able to install the .apk from the Titanium Backup folder but not the data. If i try to reinstall the data, the app goes grey in the launcher and I have to delete it (refering to the file uiderrors.txt in /data/system) from /data/data and /data/app.
I thought it was permissions but if "Fix Permissions" with CWM, upon every reboot I will get the "UID mismatched, please wipe /data because you're unstable" message. But I have discovered that if i "Fix Permissions" with TWRP at recovery, I was able to get rid of that message. I don't know if this is related to the problem I am having.
Right now I have a TitaniumBackup folder that is dated Jan 2016, but Titanium Backup thinks there's a parsing error on it. This is probably the newest version I got from the Play Store (non-Donate).
Device is Asus A68 Padfone
ROM is stock Kitkat
Rooted : Yes, TitaniumBackup is listed under SuperSU
The app I'm trying to restore data with is:
com.clapfootgames.tankhero <- this is the app I'm currently testing the data restore with
Flighttrack
Glympse
ED TradePad
Elite Notes
OpenTTD
Pocket (Read it later)
SimpleMind
Simple Rockets
and probably some others
I have gone through the "similar threads" as recommended on the top of this form page but they are not related to the problem I am having.
Please point me in the right direction

Hi Art, thanks for your reply. I do n't think its a device-specific issue because it used to work on the same device without a problem, only after I lost access to /data mount (it became read-only) did this become a problem.
Nevertheless, apparently the new updates in SuperSU has "mount namespace" on and TitaniumBackup gave me warnings about that. I unchecked it in SuperSU and I'm not able to restore my data.. phew.

I'm looking to root my Moto Play and wanted to do a full backup.
I've used the Android Studio and adb backup -apk -shared -all -f C:\Users\NAME\backup.ab command to do a backup.
What I want to know is if I root my phone and then restore the backed up data will the overright the root and restore back to stock or will it just restore all my data as I want to?
If not what is the best way to backup my phone in order to restore after rooting back to as I was setup before with root access?
