Hey There,
Have a Rogers (canada) version of the I727R, I followed all the instructions to root and get SkyIceCream v7.2 up and running. Looks great but the data connection did not work after I made the updates. Wouldn't connect through the browser or market.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
APN?

Check under your mobile network settings, if you have an lte plan set your apn name to ltemobile.apn
sky cream sandwich sets your apn to the non lte apn name... And if you have an lte plan that won't work.

I went into Network Settings and made sure the LTE option was set. But that didn't solve it. Is that what you mean by APN?
Sorry n00bish question.
Thanks

Go to Settings -> Wireless and network -> Mobile networks -> Access Point Names
Do you see it set to ltemobile.apn or another server? If it's not ltemobile.apn, you'll need to add it so click the Menu button and choose new APN to add it.
I will give this a shot tonight.. Thanks!

Network Icons?
Guys, not the same issue here as my network seems to be working and connecting properly. For some reason though all network icons at the top are gone. The only think I have is the battery icon. No wifi, 4g, network, nothing.
Any thoughts?
I have an unlocked nexus one for t mobile and k haven't been able to get mom's messages ever since I unlocked it can anyone help me with this problem?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA
You have to have correct mms setting to receive and send those messages. You can get your settings from your carrier.
Settings -> wireless & networks -> mobile networks -> GSM/UMTS Options -> Access point names -> press menu -> New APN
These are the fields I had to set:
Name
APN
MMSC
MMS proxy
MCC
MNC
Authentication type
APN type
I used android 2.2 for this instruction so there may be slight differences.
Had the same problem with optus here in oz, rang them got the mms settings now alls good

Try clearing the data through settings, manage apps.

The APN settings are found under Settings-> Wireless and Networks-> Mobile Network-> Access Point Names, or the equivalent on your phone's ROM. You can edit or create the settings from there.

I recently bought 2 - Verizon Samsung galaxy s3's. I coverted both of them to straight talk and the one phone I have absolutely no problems with. Mobile data is a little slow but from what I've read that's pretty common. I followed the exact same steps for the second phone and I cannot get the mobile data to work. When I go in to change and create a new apn I CAN"T. It should have the LTE-Verizon apn grayed out and then I should be able to create the new apn but NOTHING shows up. No LTE-Verizon apn and it doesn't give me the option to create a new apn.
How can I change the apn on this phone so that I can use the mobile data?
Do I have to root this phone?
If I root it do I have to unlock the bootloader in order to root it?
Is there a way to change the apn settings and create a new apn without rooting or unlocking the bootloader?

Do you have a simm in both phones? You need to to have them the same.
Once you install a simm you should be able to do what you want.

yes I do and both phones can make calls. I need to find a way to change the apn on the one phone. It only shows a restore to default when I hit the menu button. Verizon - lte greyed out apn isn't there either
I am running Android 5.0.1 on my Nexus 5 and my carrier is Sprint. I need to change my APN settings, but I can't seem to find them. All the posts I find say to go to, " Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names", but those are instructions for previous versions of Android. I have not been able to find the location in Android 5. Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm Running Android 5.0.1 too and my access point settings are under Settings > More > Mobile networks > Access point names? How far are you able to get by following those instructions?

I don't have the mobile networks option.
I've attached a picture of my "more" option.

Go in to the "secret dialer" menu. Open your dialer and type *#*#46363#*#*, go to "Phone Information", and scroll down. There'll be a menu labled "Set preferred network type". Your phone is CDMA and mine is GSM, so the options might be different than what I see. Just choose the one with the most options (with LTE of course). Wait several moments and see if you've got a data connection.
EDIT: I just noticed in your pictures that you're connected to WiFi. Maybe the APN settings don't show up unless you're connected through cellular data? They show up on mine when connected to WiFi, but one phone is a Samsung running 4.2.2, and the other is a Nexus 4 running a custom 4.4.4 ROM, so that could be different from stock Lollipop.
Dumb question perhaps, but are you sure you didn't accidentally toggle your data off?

*#*#46363#*#* didn't work for me. When I finished typing it, the number just disappeared.

Hmm, that seems strange, would it be possible for you to change ROM to a custom, and then see if you could access network settings? If not then maybe try a simple factory reset?

Yeah that sounds good. Best of luck!
I flashed the factory images for 5.0.1 and now have no mobile data. Can make and revieve calls as well as text messages but thats it. Tried fixing permissions through twrp and got a boot loop. Reatored back.... Dont have an option to change apn settings. Go to cellular network settings and no option there for apn. Thinking ill have to reflash factory images but hoping there was another option.
I have an option for APN. I click settings, more, cellular networks, access point names.

I have checked there and there is no option in the list for apn. Not sure why it isnt but other places i have looked on the internet said it should be in the same place you said.
