Hi there,
I would need a little help. Is it possible to mount USB flash to work like sd card, so it would be possible to install on it?
Thanks a lot in advance.
You can't "install" to /sdcard on a nexus 5. Because the app location and /sdcard are both sharing the same /data partition.
What you can do is use an app called "folder mount" to mount your sdcard folders on USB otg. This will allow you to move /sdcard app data to USB
Es file explorer can also see external plugged in memory devices

Whats a good alternative to do this???Any apps???
I tried through bluetooth share but it keeps working for a while and then disconnects.
Any frickin" ideas people???? Plz let me know.
Can you use root explorer to more the photos to the internal sd card and then do a usb transfer?
Or can you use androzip to zip up the photos and email the zip?
No i have not.I guess root explorer would be an option to tinker with. There are like 240 photos and videos.Dont think that zipping them up would work. Will try root explorer.

Silly question. Where are photos stored using the stock camera and rom?
Edit...ignore my dumb ass question. Found it. Feel slow.
Got it figured out with ESEXPLORER. Was able to copy the photos from the phone to sd card and then to computer. Thanks for the idea guys!!
When you connect the phone to your computer via USB does it not mount both internal and external storage so you can browse it with your computer? Mine mounts them as 2 separate drives.

It mounts them on a Mac, but iPhoto (apple photo app) will not read the external drive to import the photos, I'm guessing that's the issue since this happens to me to on my iMac.

Both of them mount fine on my wife's macbook pro and iphoto reads them with no issues. What file format is your external card formatted to?
Dropbox?

Hello all
I bought a P6200 recently! but when I connect it to PC it doesn't mount as USB drive?
As well in settings menu I couldn't find it to set it to mass storage mode!(like my Xperia neo and other Android phones) even it doesn't have USB part
Would u help me ?
It's ridiculous that can't be done!
yup... it is ridiculous because it really cant be done...
That' s not true. After connecting my Tab Plus to PC, I got new wino opened with 2 drives. One is my MC and second Phone memory so I can copy whatever I want. Try in settings-application-development...
that is in MTP mode...
The reason is because of how the GTab 7+ uses internal/external memory.
It's impossible for Android to unmount the memory because it's constantly in use. This provides a lot of benefits for performance and application space.
However, the trade off is that unmounting the partition would cause android to crash. So you can't unmount it to let a PC mount the partition. The work around for this is Android hosting the partition as an MTP device and doing file changes by proxy for the PC.
Personally, I haven't found a situation where I needed to do something on the file system that MTP prevented me from doing. At least so far...
I too have had no problems so far transfering files using MTP but its very slow. So I've used a card reader to transfer files to the sdcard when I wanted to do a quick transfer of a larger amount of files such as mp3's.
Hard to mount the sd card as a drive for use with synctoy is one example of where mtp is inconvenient at best.

Mass Storange mode is no longer available since Android3/4 deives as there is no seperate internal SD card. All Android tabs connect with MTP mode.
I use SyncToy as well to backup the whole of /sdcard. But that's for the P1000, now I can't do the same on the P6200. All the other available options are either too slow or too cumbersome to use on a daily basis.

Has anyone tried the "Multi Mount SD-Card" app on this device? It mounts the SD card as USB mass storage without dismounting from the android system.
I found mine mounted them both only after i inserted a micro sd card into the device.

I have just installed Multi Mount SD-Card v2.12 and found that it is not compatible with the device. It's disappointing.
I would suggest setting up adb and using Android commander (it is a GUI for windows)

First I have to say thank you to all the developers for making many great ROM. Second, I am not good with android .
I just upgrade to hellfire sandwich and seem like whenever i choose using"internal storage" the phone will auto gray out the external SD card (8gb). When i uncheck that option, i can use the external SD card again. But I want to use the left over internal storage 5gb too... not just 1.5gb internal storage.
Is there someway to re-partition the internal storage together? or allow the phone to recognize all the partitions?
Another question is I cannot use USB mass storage anymore, that option is grayed out too, And the only option is MTP which work really slow but a bit better than PTP. I need some help because Android commander cant recognize the device and the transfer sped is pretty slow.
You should be able to access the internal storage by navigating in the file explorer of your choice to the mnt/emmc/ directory. As for the mass storagw, I don't know the answer, but I had that problem too while I was on ICS.
The best option I have found is to use cwm to add and remove things through storage. It works all the time. Since on 2.3.3 mounts where sketchy and I've never been a fan of mtp on ics this is what I've always done.
Your transfer rates are due to your SD card class. The higher the class the higher the read/write speeds.
Ics went to using mtp and ptp instead of USB mass storage. Except there's a few roms that have hacked ums in and got it to work or claim too.

Yes i can do that too, so there is no way to allow the phone using both... I want to let the phone install apps to internal, and use external as media storage.

Thank you, because i saw the option there so i just wonder if there is a way to enable it... but if it not supposed to be there then there is no help.
If you go to ../etc/ using a file explorer, you may edit vold.fstab using a text editor and change manually your SD cards mount points (dev_mount emmc "folder location" for internal SD and dev_mount sdcard "folder location" for external SD)

Ok, well in your SD Card you shoud see either _Internal SD or _External SD when you go into CWM, installing a rom partitions you SD card normally using EXT4. You can navigate to both through mnt in file manager. Normally it'll load into external. You can go back to mnt and go into internal through there. Now, you may have to unmount and remount so you have access to it. If your using hellfire 1.7 you need the updated harsh kernel to access USB storage. In 1.6, however, you shouldn't have that problem.
My shield is root and i try GL to SD and Folder Mount app to move the game to sd card but not success. After i move the game and mount it, when i start the game and nothing happen.
So anyone have any idea how to move the game to sd card because now my internal memory is full and i want to install more game on it.

If we have use folder mount to move the game into sd card. Is that possible to move back to internal memory without download again the game data or losing the game data?

What permissions are on your memory card right now? I have a 64GB card formatted to FAT32 and it just shows RWX on the group (or ---rwx---). If I try to change it, it tells me permission denied (and yes, I am rooted). I read up on it and it seems that FAT32 doesn't support permissions on Linux. So how are people getting this to work? FolderMount tells me it has an error changing permissions (obviously), and the game thinks that I need to download the data again.

Right, but that doesn't quite explain how people have it working for them, but mine won't work. I'm curious how people are getting around this.

I have to check when I get home but all I did was format the card fat32 and run the folder mount
I noticed only some of the games would move for me. But I reinstalled Bards Tale and when I did it asked me when downloading the 3.8gb hi def version where I wanted to install and I was able to choose external storage.
Well folder mount is working for me just MC4 is not for some reason and the permissions on the SD are just read

Can you post a screenshot of your permissions in a root browser like ROM Toolbox or a similar one? I'm curious what it says.

Root explorer is fine ?
Weird. What did you use to format the SD card?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
With the SD card inserted on SD card reader formated fat32 with mini tool partition manager on my desktop with W8
I have use the folder mount app to transfer the games to sd card but not all the game working. Like if i transfer Dead Trigger, Shadowgun, The Dark Knight Rises or Fifa 12, after the folder mount finish transfer the file to sd card, then i open the game, it either stuck there or close the game by itself.
I wonder what happen?

Darn, it seems Mini Tool killed my SD card. Now nothing will read it. Windows doesn't see it, nor Android, or Linux. $40 gone.

firstly before you start to move the app/game make sure that the all the apps are closed, then move the app then after click on the pin to mount it then dont open the app straight away, restart your device wait a few seconds then open the app and it works perfect, thats what i did because i had the same problem as you had at first and this solved it for me, now all my games works perfect while moved to my 64gb class 10 sd card :good:
Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me finding a way of mounting /storage/usbdisk/ as sdcard.
I am using CyanogenMod 11 Nightly.
The problem is, the usb disk works almost ideally - Reads audio and video from it with no problem, but when I want to move
obb/data or other app data ( iGO navigation ) to it, it just doesn't read it.
I tried this solution
but I was wondering if it is possible to mount whole usbdisk as sd card, like the phones with SD Card slot do.
I tried mounting /storage/usbdisk/ to /storage/sdcard/ and /storage/sdcard1/ and /storage/emulated/1/
none of those helped.
Thanks in advance.

Firstly when you go in settings storage/ ad scroll down with your usb storage plugged in does it show the free space on that device n the storage settings? if yes
all you need is the pro version of foldermount
Apk is on playstore forum support/ user guide for it is just a xda search away
Im using it on the experience rom for the moto g x1032 8 gig sngle sim version.
ive so far tested asphalt 8 which is about 2 gigs of data once installed. I created a android folder on my usb storage and withing the android folder i created a data and a /obb folder
i then linked those folders.......youll get what im saying when you go to the foldermount thread here on xda.
