Only reason im posting this is because i saw some mixed things. So basically my buddy has a moto g. Cricket, locked bootloader his device cannot be unlocked. Now his device is on 4.4.2 and hes gomma be a long way from lollipop. So im wondering if he can flash the moto g to thr gpe 4.4.4 edition then be able to update to lollipop?
I'm waiting for a little bit until lollipop is stable on moto g.
I saw many guys who are stucking on downgrade from lollipop to KK.
The gpe version on my phone is running flawlesssly.
How would he flash GPE (or any other ROM) with a locked bootloader?
Unlock it ?!

im guessing you have a Moto G as your posting in moto g Q&A so look for "philz_touch_6.55.0-falcon" or TWRP for falcon as falcon is the moto g codename you will need to unlock your boot loader there are MANY tutorials on doing this flash the custom recovery and BAM your flashing

I have the Verizon version. I can't unlock the bootloader, that's where my issue comes into play. Haven't seen a safe strap recovery but I'm not too concerned with flashing really. I just want root access. Does anyone know of a way to root the Verizon Moto G running 4.4.4?

You can't. Even if you downgrade to 4.4.2 your bootloader version will stay on 41.13 (while original bootloader version for 4.4.2 was 41.11). This means that you can't unlock your device even if you downgrade. Try to ask on Motorola forum about 4.4.4 unlocking.
This is weird that everyone is having problems with the 4.4.4 bootloader i got it first try without any problems at all!

Hi,I'm new to android rooting flashing etc as I was in s60v5th previously.
I have xt1033 Indian version.
I previously read a thread about unlocking phone before upgrading to 4.4.(mine was 4.4.3,later upgraded to 4.4.4)
Is there any problem in unlocking a 4.4.4?
What about rooting process?
Unlock-->flash super user zip??
Difference between stock recovery & any custom one?
I read about backing some partition containing imei,WiFi Mac address etc. When to do that? After unlocking.
Or should I wait till android L release? (As I want that)

Hi, I'm also new to this, but I did flashed stock firmware (retail.EU 4.4.4) and after that I unlocked bootloader and it was no problem
Ty,
Can tell me about backing imei WiFi info partition
Hi guys. I updated my Moto G to the Lollipop (and I didn't like), and my bootloader was updated to the 41.10 version, and, when I downgraded to the KitKat, it show a bug in the screen, and I looked in XDA that there is 'cause the KitKat is running in Lollipop bootloader. I want to know if I can downgrade my bootloader to a KitKat version?
Thanks...
If that was possible there wouldn't be so many "I bricked my moto g because I downgraded to 4.4.2 instead of 4.4.4 for some stupid reason" threads, now would there? Anyways, it looks as if your phone can still turn on so just look in any of the threads that tell you how to fix that problem. No, you can't downgrade the bootloader version.
Hi,
I would like to ask about unlocking the bootloader on lollipop (5.0.2) on XT1032. Has anyone tried it? I heard that there were soem issues when unlocking on 4.4.4 so I'm a bit afraid that something could go wrong. I'm looking forward to trying out CM12 or at least some Xposed modules like gravity box because I'm not really 100% satisfied with the pure lollipop.
Thank you in advance for your response
First, check the Motorola site to see if your bootloader can be unlocked.
Hi there,
I had unlocked my XT1033 Lolipop bootloader few days back using Motorola Moto G UNLOCK BOOTLOADER TUTORIAL: http://youtu.be/hKG6uOEqqIw and install twrp recovery & rooted it using cf auto root on stock rom...... Currently using xposed with gravity box with no issues and the bootloader process doesn't cause any issues unless you make any silly mistake..... Easy as pie... Give it a try.....
Thank you both
I checked that my BL can be unlocked so I'll probably give it a try.
Looking for TWRP for XT1032 running 5.0.2
I have one more question, where can I find working twrp for my version (XT1032 on 5.0.2).
Do you guys think that this link http://techcrypto.com/moto-g-twrp-lollipop/ can be trusted? and won't cause any damage to my moto g
Thx for replies.
EDIT: That recovery works fine (except for the screen flickering but thats probably problem in all of them)
