Question: opo is able to be used with gloves?
It has a capacitive digitizer so I imagine you'd need capacitive gloves.

Hey All,
I recently dropped my nexus 5, however there is no screen damage, there is still damage to be noticed. On the screen itself, there are numerous vertical lines, disallowing me from actually using the phone. I've been able to connect a USB OTG mouse and connect to my chromecast which works fine.
Again, the screen itself has to visible physical damage. Could the GPU be broken? I'm really confused.
Here's a link to the damage: http://imgur.com/5weAP2Z
Thanks in advance!

I think you broke the LCD panel (/liquid crystal)l behind the front glass, that's why you don't see any damage on the screen.
Take a look at this : http://s.hswstatic.com/gif/lcd-screen.gif

Thank you for the response. So would I need to do an entire digitizer + Lcd replacement costing me around $100ish? And would that fix the issue?
Your actual gpu/image processing works since u were able to use it on chromecast.
Since it was a drop there are a number of things that could have gone wrong . In order from cheap to expensive it's flex cable , lcd , motherboard. The fact that you can use screencast , and the lack of touchscreen response could mean the screen is broken and not the mainboard. But again could.
If you could get a temporary replacement screen for test you could diagnose it and see if you keep the screen/buy one or scrap the phone.
Thank you everyone for the responses!
Hello all,
Don't quite know what's wrong with my phone. Typing on the keyboard is hard, for example, because the letter won't detect my finger or the keyboard think I'm swiping my finger when I'm just typing letter to letter. The touch screen also will not be responsive to Mr fingers; the physical hardware buttons for example won't respond when I press hardly on it.
Events I think could have some factor in this:
left the phone on the sand on a sunny day for 15 minutes
upgraded to cyanogenmod newest rom 05Q
orzly glass protector is cracked slightly
Right now, I'm running Blisspop lollipop ROM and the problems are still there, so I feel like it could be a hardware problem. Any thoughts?
Thanks guys!
There is a thread dedicated to discussing this exact issue, either in the general or q&a section. Plus many other threads discussing it too. Have a look, shouldn't be hard to find.

I apologize for this. Was getting vbulletin search engine error and Google gave old threads with my search entry
No need for an apology, was just mentioning it so you could find some decent info on it, sorry I don't actually have a link, but there's probably one in my index thread.

Should I do it?? I know it's a bit weaker then the Opo but it looks awesome.
What do you say?
I wouldn't, but that's just me. Any other reason besides it looks awesome? Big downgrade in screen resolution and quality. Don't expect too many more software updates on the gflex.
Have you ever seen someone else with OPO on the street?

From what I read and see on YouTube the resolution isn't that bad.
The only thing I worried is the updates.
Well I'm still thinking about it

It's a downgrade from 1080 to 720, which isn't all that bad on a small screen. But it's also a downgrade in every other hardware sense too (CPU, RAM, etc). And LG aren't very well known for keeping up with updates. I wouldn't make that trade if I was paid.

But if decide to trade should I ask for money as well? Or head to head?
Hi,
Looking for a 5"-6" 1080P panel with touchscreen for a project I am working on.
Needs to be able to connect via HDMI and USB for touch control.
Working drivers for touch in Windows would be ideal.
The Nexus 5 LG D820/D821 panel would be ideal.
I've done quite a bit of research on Google, XDA, Duck Duck Go and Alibaba and cannot find anyone who has either hacked the screen to suit or has an equivalent for sale.

So, breaking the common rumor, the display is not LG IPS, but Japanes Display.

I'll be doing a request to JDI in the next few days.
I've also found another project which does a HDMI to DSI to MIPI, but I cannot direct link to it.
Just search for hackaday.io post 6905
Thanks.
